Nellie Russin, 83, formerly of Trucksville, died Saturday in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born in Scranton, March 6, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Sophia Bienko Molelsky.
She and her late husband of 57 years, Michael, were owner/operators from 1958-1976 of Russin Lounge, Slocum Street, Swoyersville.
She was a member of St. Therese's Church, Shavertown.
She was preceded in death in addition to her husband by her sister, Lillian Wheeler; brothers William, Michael and John.
Surviving are her daughters Mrs. William D. (Mary Ann) Davies, Shavertown; Mrs. James (Elizabeth) Martin, Rochester, N.Y.; Mrs. Mark (Lillian) Cohen, Wilkes-Barre; sons Michael A., Roanoke, Va.; Robert J., West Pittston; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters Frances Shimkus, Plymouth; Martha Strok, Old Forge.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday from the Harold C. Snowdon Funeral Home, 140 N. Main St., Shavertown, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. from St. Therese's Church, Shavertown. Rev. J. Peter Crynes will officiate.
Interment will be in the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.

James Ryan

James L. Ryan, 49, of East Dorrance Street, Kingston, died Friday at the VA Medical Center, Philadelphia.
Born in Pittston, he was the son of Leo and Agnes (Donahue) Ryan of Dupont.
He was a former employee at Merchants Bank and Ertley Motorworld.
He was a member of St. Ignatius Church, Kingston.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran.
Surviving, in addition to his parents, are brothers , Jerry, Dupont; Leo "Buddy" Jr., Laflin; a sister, Peggy Baltrusaitis, Dunmore; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Monday from the Kniffen-O'Malley Funeral Home Inc., 728 Main St., Avoca, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, Avoca. The Rev. Leo McKernan will officiate.
Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Avoca.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.
Memorial donations may be made to the Hospice organization of the donor's choice.
ALEXANDER RYNKIEWICZ
Alexander J. Rynkiewicz, 90, of Dana Street, Wilkes-Barre, died Saturday at Mercy Hospital in Wilkes-Barre.
Born July 7, 1908, in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Alexander and Antoinette Rynkiewicz.
He earned a master's degree from the University of Scranton.
A U.S. Army veteran, he served in the European Theater during World War II.
Before his retirement, he was a caseworker for the Pennsylvania Unemployment Compensation Office, Wilkes-Barre.
He was a member of St. Mary's Maternity Church, Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Moran-Meehan Rynkiewicz, on Oct. 25, 1986; and brother, Emil Rinkin.
Surviving are his sons , Alexander Rynkiewicz, Wilkes-Barre; John Rynkiewicz, Baltimore, Md.; daughter, Antoinette Rynkiewicz; stepson, Joseph Moran, Wilkes-Barre; sister, Caroline Walzak, Wilkes-Barre; and eight grandchildren.
Private funeral services were held at the convenience of the family.
Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.
A Memorial Mass will be at a later date in St. Mary's Maternity Church.
Arrangements are by McLaughlin Funeral Service, Wilkes-Barre.
Sabol, Helen

Helen H. Sabol, of North Washington Street, in the North End section of Wilkes-Barre, died Saturday at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Anna Filak Horensky. She attended Wilkes-Barre schools and was a member of St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church, Wilkes-Barre. She was previously employed by the Wilkes-Barre Lace Manufacturing Co.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nicholas.
Surviving are her daughter, Faith E. Sabol, at home; sister, Margaret Winters, Trucksville; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday from the John V. Morris Funeral Home, 625 N. Main St., Wilkes-Barre, with services at 11 a.m. in St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Steven S. Billings, of St. Stephen's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Dickson City, officiating. Interment will be in Fern Knoll Burial Park, Dallas. ANNA SABONIS
Anna K. Sabonis, of Bowman Avenue in Kingston died Wednesday after an illness.
She was a daughter of the late Michael and Anna Kerestes.
She was a former member of the Queen Ester Chapter 174 Order of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Sabonis; and brother, Michael Kerestes.
Surviving are her brother, John Kerestes, Nanticoke; sisters , Helen K. Hershberger, Wilkes-Barre; Mary Hilburt, Harrisburg; and Kathryn K. Kresge, Ashley; and several nieces and nephews.

RICHARD SABRA
Richard Charles Sabra, of Dallas died Tuesday at his home.
Born Feb. 22, 1916, in Fall River, Mass., he was a son of the late Charles and Freda Sabra.
He was a 1939 graduate of Middlebury College.
Most of his employment was in the public sector, serving in the U.S. Department of State as a special agent in the Security Division; in the Postal Service Department as a post office inspector and in the Small Business Administration as a personnel management specialist.
During his tenure as a federal employee, he served for three years as president of the New York Chapter of the National Association of Federal Investigators.
Later, after teaching courses in personnel administration, labor relations and public relations at the University College, the State University of Rutgers in New Jersey, and retiring from the government sector, he accepted the position of director of the Summer Session at Rutgers University, Newark campus.
He was a member of St. Therese's Church in the Shavertown section of Kingston Township.
He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
Surviving are his wife of 45 years, the former Anne L. Arzenete, three sisters and numerous nieces and nephews.
Private funeral services will be at the convenience of the family.
Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Hanover Township.
There will be no calling hours.

Joseph W. Salus, 93, of Alberta Avenue in Linden, N.J., died Monday at John Runnells Medical Center in Berkeley Heights, N.J.
Born Sept. 11, 1906, in Exeter, he was a son of the late William and Mary (Gigarosky) Salus. He resided in New Jersey the past 70 years.
Before retiring, he was employed at Eastern States Transportation Co. in Elizabeth, N.J.
He was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Lithuanian Roman Catholic Church in Elizabeth.
He was preceded in death by his brothers , Simon, John, William and Charles; and sisters , Rose Mazonis and Mary Wierbowski.
Surviving are his wife, the former Nellie Lisauskas, with whom he celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary June 25; son, William, Mesa, Ariz.; daughters , Joan, Linden; Marylou Baumer, Springfield, N.J.; and Frances Steele, Pompton Plains, N.J.; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; brothers , Francis, Elizabeth; and Albert, Santa Clara, Calif.; and sisters , Frances Mercincavage, Exeter; and Agnes Alksninus, Linden; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Saturday from the Kizis-Lokuta Funeral Home, 134 Church St., Pittston, with a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Casimir's Church in Pittston. Interment will be in the parish cemetery in Pittston.

SALVO, LILLIAN

Lillian (Saporito) Salvo, R.N., of Liberty Street, West Pittston, died Sunday in Hospice Community Care, Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre.
Born in Pittston, she was the daughter of the late Carlo and Sarah (Busacco) Saporito.
She was a graduate of Pittston High School and Pittston Hospital School of Nursing. She was a floor supervisor at the hospital before retiring in 1981.
She was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Pittston.
She was preceded in death by brothers , Carlo and Samuel Saporito; sisters , Pauline Berettini, Josephine Paolacci and Michaline Sgarlat.
Surviving are her husband, Michael; son, Charles, Wall, N.J.; daughters , Cathy Petruncio, Bloomsburg; Lisa Remplewicz, West Pittston; brother, Atty. Joseph Saporito Sr., Pittston; sisters , Sarah Solano and Carmelina Leonardi, both of Pittston; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday from the Recupero Funeral Home, 406 Susquehanna Ave., West Pittston, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church.
Interment will be in West Pittston Cemetery.

FREDERIC SALZMAN
Frederic Salzman, 87, of Nashville, Ind., died Saturday at his residence.
Born Dec. 16, 1911, in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Hannah Bloch and Rabbi Dr. Marcus Salzman.
He graduated from Cornell University in 1932. He attended Sorbonne University of Paris, receiving a diploma in special studies.
He formerly resided in Chicago and moved to Brown County, Ind., in 1977.
He was employed as district manager of the Midwest area for Metal-Edge Industries for many years, retiring in 1976.
He was very active in the Boy Scouts of America.
He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the European Theater from 1941 to 1946. He received the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Marcus Salzman Jr.
Surviving is his wife, Rosetta (Nugent), Nashville, Ind. The couple was married Oct. 10, 1960.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday from the Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home, Inc., 1682 N. State Road 135, Nashville, Ind.
