Elizabeth Reilly

Elizabeth A. Reilly, formerly of East Broadway Street, Larksville, died Thursday at Heritage House, East Northampton Street, Wilkes-Barre.
Born in Larksville, she was daughter of the late Peter and Catherine Condon Reilly.
She graduated from Larksville High School, College Misericordia and Bloomsburg University.
She was a teacher in the Larksville school system, retiring in 1965.
She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Church, Plymouth.
She was a member of the Pennsylvania Retired Teachers Association.
She was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters Helen, Rose, Eugene, James, Joseph, Peter, Francis, John and Catherine.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 7 p.m. Monday evening at St. Vincent de Paul Church, Plymouth.
Friends may call from 6 p.m. until the time of the Mass.
Interment will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.
Repotski, Eugene

Eugene F. Repotski, 77, of Newport Street, Newport Township, died Saturday at Naples Community Hospital, Naples, Fla.
Born in Newport Township, he was the son of the late Francis and Josephine (Vishnefski) Repotski. He was a graduate of Newport Township High School and a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, Plymouth. He graduated from Franklin Technical Institute, Boston, Mass., and Bucknell University through Wilkes College.
He was a banker for First Federal Savings & Loan Association, Wilkes-Barre; Glen Lyon National Bank and Peoples Bank, Nanticoke; and worked in various positions, including senior vice-president of First Eastern Bank of Wilkes-Barre. He formerly held leadership positions in many civic and municipal organizations, including the Nanticoke Area Chamber of Commerce, the American Red Cross, Nanticoke Rotary Club, the Luzerne County Tourist Promotion Agency and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8353 and was a member of American Legion Post 350, Nanticoke.
He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran, having received the Distinguished Unit Badge with one Oak Leaf Cluster, the American Theater Service Medal, the European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal with eight Bronze Stars, and the World War II Victory Medal.
Surviving is his wife, the former Estelle Forrish; daughter, Donna Walters, Nanticoke; and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Evelyn Repotski.
A military funeral will be accorded by American Legion Post 350 beginning at 8:30 a.m. Friday from the Grontkowski Funeral Home P.C., 51-53 W. Green St., Nanticoke, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church. Monsignor Vincent Grimalia, V.F., will officiate. Interment will be in the parish Cemetery, Plymouth Township. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday.
REYNOLDS, JEAN
October 2, 1999
Jean B. Reynolds, of Dallas, died Saturday in the Hospice Community Care Inpatient Unit of Mercy Hospital in Wilkes-Barre.
Born June 15, 1927, in Plymouth, she was the daughter of the late George and Gertrude Kreischer Watkins.
She was a 1945 graduate of Plymouth High School and resided in the area her entire life.
Before retiring she was employed by the Meadows Nursing Home in Dallas.
She was a member of the Shavertown United Methodist Church in Shavertown.
She and her husband, John, would have celebrated their 28th wedding anniversary on Oct. 16.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are sons , Thomas G. Evans, Hunt Valley, Md.; Wayne Evans, Waldorf, Md.; daughter, Donna John, Dallas; step daughter, Betty Ungar, Charlotte, N.C.; sister, Ruth Pesavento, Wilkes-Barre; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday from the Bednarski Funeral Home, 27 Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre, with the Rev. Janet B. Clark, of Shavertown United Methodist Church, officiating.
Interment will be in Edge Hill Cemetery in West Nanticoke.

RAYMOND RHIEL
Raymond Rhiel Sr., 72, of Walker Lake in Shohola and formerly of Bethlehem and Wilkes-Barre, died Jan. 5 at his home.
Born in Bethlehem, he was a son of the late Elizabeth and Kenneth Rhiel.
He was a 1944 graduate of Meyers High School in Wilkes-Barre.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
He was formerly employed as a supervisor at Mack Truck in Allentown until retiring in 1982.
He was a member of the Milford American Legion and National LSM Naval Fleet Association.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Dorothy Kunsman, in 1989; and brother, Kenneth Rhiel, in 1972.
Surviving are his sons , Raymond Rhiel Jr. and Gary Rhiel, both of Bethlehem; and Scott Rhiel, Farmington, Mass.; daughter, Mae Brokenshire, Shenandoah; five grandchildren; and brothers , Robert Rhiel, Langhorne; and Wesley Rhiel, Swoyersville.
Funeral services were last Saturday at the Long Funeral Home in Bethlehem.
Interment was in Nisky Hill Cemetery in Bethlehem.
RHOADS, ARTHUR
October 3, 1999
Arthur G. Rhoads Jr., 88, of Center Street, Forty Fort, died Sunday at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, following an illness.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Arthur and Jean (Battenberg) Rhoads.
He graduated from Forty Fort High School and Wyoming Seminary and attended the Wharton School of Finance.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and resided on Center Street in Forty Fort for the past 52 years.
He was the owner of the Wyoming Paper Co., Wyoming, retiring in 1978 after 52 years.
He was a member of Forty Fort United Methodist Church. He was active in church activities, serving on the administrative board, and was a member of the Forty Fort Business Club.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, the former Marie Cotter; sisters , Betty Van Devender, Shamokin; Marion Williams, Stroudsburg; Phil Moore, Lewisburg; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday from the Hugh B. Hughes & Son, Inc., Funeral Home, 1044 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort, with the Rev. Donald A. Roberts Sr., his pastor, officiating.
Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton, Kingston Township.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.

RHYDDERCH, OLIVER

Oliver Rhydderch, 89, of Jenkintown, died Wednesday.
He was the loving husband of Rhoda K. Morgan Rhydderch; Father of William E. (Barbara J.) Rhydderch, and the late Dorene Kay Oconnor; Father -in-law of John Oconnor; loving grandfather of Jennifer, James, Hillary and Sean; the great-grandfather of three; and the brother of Muriel Sennick, of Courtdale.
He was a retired supervisor of the IRS Service Center of Roosevelt Boulevard.
He served in the U.S. Army in World War II.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing, Sunday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Craft-Givnish Funeral Home of Abington, Pa., 1801 Old York Road, (215) 659-2000, followed by his funeral service Monday at 10 a.m. at All Saints Episcopal Church, 9601 Frankfurt Ave., Philadelphia.
Interment will be in All Saints Episcopal Church Yard.

Affa Rice, formerly of Owen Street in Forty Fort died Thursday at the Meadows Nursing Center in Dallas.
Born In Lehman Township, she was the daughter of the late Floyd and Lucy (Nulton) Weatherbee. She was a graduate of Lehman High School.
She resided in Dallas for the past 13 years, and lived most of her life in Forty Fort.
She was a member of the Stella Presbyterian Church in Forty Fort.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John; and son, Warren.
Surviving are her daughters , Clara Belle Reggie, Swoyersville; and Ida Berlew, Okeechobee, Fla.; son, Floyd, Texas ; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters , Fay Gavek, Beaumont; Ida Fink, Shavertown; and Dorothy Crosby and Beatrice Harold, both of Binghamton, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Metcalfe and Shaver Funeral Home, Inc., 504 Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, with the Rev. Charles Booker, of the Stella Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment will be in the Lehman Center Cemetery in Lehman Township.

Emily (Bond) Richards, 87, of Reading, formerly of Little Street in Wilkes-Barre, died Thursday in Genesis Elder Care in Shillington.
Born Dec. 3, 1911, in Nanticoke, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Margaret (Powell) Bond.
She was a member of the Christ United Presbyterian Church in the Lee Park section of Hanover Township.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Asher; brothers , Harold, James, Harry, Robert and Richard Bond; and sister, Ada Madden.
Surviving are her son, Asher R., Reading; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Kniffen-O'Malley Funeral Home Inc., 465 S. Main St., Wilkes-Barre, with the Rev. Robert Boyar, pastor of Christ United Presbyterian Church, officiating.
Interment will be at the convenience of the family.

Rieger, Carl

Carl J. Rieger, 67, of Coplay Place, Mountaintop, died Friday at the Harrisburg Hospital.
Born Sept. 5, 1932, in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of the late Adolph and Genevieve Rieger. He was a graduate of Hanover Township High School and King's College, Wilkes-Barre, where he received his bachelor of science degree in chemistry. He was the vice president of applications of Mearl Corp., Peekskill, N.Y. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the
Korean War, serving as a medic stationed in Germany. He was a member of St. Aloysius Church, Lee Park, Hanover Township, and the American Chemical Society.
Surviving are his wife of 38 years, the former Lorraine Bolka; daughter, Leigh Bonifonte, Lyndwood, Hanover Township; son, James, New York City; two grandsons; brother, Robert, Shavertown; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at 9 a.m. Monday from the S.J. Grontkowski Funeral Home, 530 W. Main St., Plymouth, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at St. Aloysius Church.
