STELLA L. BORRELLI

Stella L. Borrelli, 71, of Fallowfield Township, Bentleyville, died Sunday, April 23, 2000, in St. Francis Central Hospital, Pittsburgh. She was born Jan. 31, 1929, in Braddock, a daughter of the late Stephen and Michalina Pogorzelski Jasinski. Mrs. Borrelli was a graduate of Rostraver High School Class of 1947. She was retired from the Bentworth school district as a teacher's aide, specializing in remedial math and reading. She was employed at the former Marshalek's Deli in Ellsworth as a cashier. She was Catholic by faith. Surviving relatives include a son, John and his wife, Wendy Borrelli, of Rostraver; a daughter, Sharon Borrelli of Belle Vernon; two grandchildren, Kristopher and Maria Elena Borrelli; three sisters , Benedicte "Benny" Dzimiera of Monongahela, Anne Chayben of Charleroi, and Vicki and her husband, Phil Lunchar, of Willowick, Ohio; two brothers , John and his wife, Eunice Jasinski, of Donora and Edward Jasinski of Fort Walton Beach, Fla. Friends will be received Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the L.M. FRYE FUNERAL HOME INC., 427 W. Main St., Monongahela, where a blessing service will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

IDA V. CROMLING
Ida V. Cromling, 73, of Derry, died Monday, April 24, 2000, in Latrobe Area Hospital. She was born Oct. 19, 1926, in Derry, a daughter of the late Fredrick and Santa Bongrazio Zannetti. Prior to retirement, Ida was employed as a cook for Kennametal, Latrobe. She was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church and its Altar Rosary Society, and the Ukrainian Society, both of Derry. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore F. Cromling Sr., in 1984; a brother, Raymond Zannetti; and a sister, Rosalie Smith. Ida is survived by two sons , Theodore F. Cromling Jr. of Durham, N.C., and Thomas A. Cromling at home; three daughters , Mrs. George (Janet) Phillippi of New Derry, Mrs. Jeffrey (Sandra) Hill of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Mrs. Jeffrey (Barbara) Uschak of Blairsville; eight grandchildren; three brothers , Robert Zannetti of Orwell, Ohio, Anthony Zannetti of Latrobe and Eugene Zannetti of Hanover; also several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the MICHAEL J. QUINLISK FUNERAL HOME INC., 548 Chestnut St., Derry. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph R.C. Church with the Rev. Stephen C. West as celebrant. Interment will follow in Coles Cemetery, Derry.

BERTHA ELIZABETH DEER

Bertha Elizabeth Deer, 66, of Jeannette, died Monday, April 24, 2000, at home. She was born Jan. 12, 1934, in Turtle Creek, a daughter of the late Andrew and Ruby America Soles. Prior to retirement, she worked as a cook for the Jeannette School District. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David E. Deer; and two brothers , Homer Griffin and Andrew Soles. She is survived by four daughters , Diane Scholz and her husband, Chuck, of Jeannette, Ellen Severini and her husband, Bill, of Grapeville, Amy Deer and her fiance, George Evangelist, of Jeannette and Shirley Kapelar of Irwin; four grandchildren, Shannon and Charlie Scholz, David Deer and Lacey Severini; two brothers , Walter Soles of Denver, Colo., and Harry Soles of Turtle Creek; three sisters , Ruby Kotlar of East Pittsburgh, Gladys Roberts of North Versailles and Ida McCelland of Ellwood City; and a number of nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the MASON-GELDER FUNERAL HOME INC., 201 N. First St., Jeannette, Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor David Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Jeannette Memorial Park, Penn Township.

ELEANOR E. FETTER

Eleanor E. Fetter, 79, of Latrobe, died Monday, April 24, 2000, in the Edgewood Nursing Center, Unity Township. She was born Jan. 19, 1921, in Latrobe, the daughter of the late Clarence and Elva Mae Hall Queer. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Latrobe. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert E. Fetter. She is survived by a son, Clarence M. Thomas and his wife, Mary Ann, of Blairsville; three daughters , Evelyn Urdzik and her husband, Daniel, of Zullinger, Bonnie Goldberg and her husband, Melton, of Latrobe and Marilyn Blews of Latrobe; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Friends will be received Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. in the JOHN J. LOPATICH FUNERAL HOME INC., 601 Weldon St., Latrobe. Services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Trinity Lutheran Church with the Trinity Clergy officiating. Interment in Unity Cemetery, Unity Township.

RONALD H. GRATZINGER

Ronald H. Gratzinger, 64, of Mt. Pleasant RD3 (East Huntingdon Township), died Sunday, April 23, 2000, at his residence. He was born April 14, 1936, in Mt. Pleasant, a son of the late George and Jeannette Stouffer Gratzinger. He was a member of Visitation Roman Catholic Church, Mt. Pleasant. Prior to retirement, he was employed by Lenox Crystal as a glass cutter. He was active with the Southmoreland School Police and Crossing Guards, and was a lifetime member of the Scottdale Auxiliary Police Force. He was a member of the U.S. Army Reserves. He was a graduate of East Huntingdon High School, Class of 1954. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sons , George, Ronnie and Randy Gratzinger; three brothers , Robert, Edwin and James Gratzinger; and a sister, Louise Lawrence. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Audrey J. Schmuck Gratzinger; three daughters , Deborah McIntyre of Mt. Pleasant, Kimberly Mondock and husband, Ronald, of Scottdale and Ronna Yester and husband, John, of Mt. Pleasant; four grandchildren, Thomas Jr. and Megan McIntyre, Amber Mondock and Johnny Yester III; three brothers , his twin, Donald Gratzinger of Mt. Pleasant, William Gratzinger and wife, Betty, of Fort Myers, Fla., and Richard Gratzinger and wife, Jerri, of the state of California; and five sisters , Margaret Murlett of New Jersey, Ruth Hyde and husband, Stewart, of Florida, Helen Bedner and husband, Ed, of Ohio, Betty Lenhart and husband, Paul, of Baggaley and Nancy Monticue and husband, Ray, of Stahlstown. Friends will be received in the EUGENE G. SALOOM FUNERAL HOME INC., Main Street, Mt. Pleasant, Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A blessing service will be held in the funeral home Wednesday at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass to be celebrated in the Visitation R.C. Church at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Anthony Ditto as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Visitation Cemetery.

STELLA M. JENCO

Stella M. Jenco, 82, of Greensburg, died Sunday, April 23, 2000, in IHS of Greater Pittsburgh, Hempfield Township. She was born Feb. 28, 1918, in Detroit, Mich., the daughter of the late Albert and Antoinette May Olaharski. She was retired from Child Welfare Services, Pittsburgh. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George A. Jenco. She is survived by four sons , Joseph Jenco of West Mifflin, Albert Jenco of the state of California, Paul Jenco of the state of California and Michael Jenco of Pittsburgh; a daughter, Theresa Kane of Irwin; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. There will be no visitations. Services and interment are private. The JOHN J. LOPATICH FUNERAL HOME INC., 601 Weldon St., Latrobe, is in charge of arrangements.

OPALRAE JOHNSON

Opalrae Johnson, 100, of Owensboro, Ky., died Sunday, April 23, 2000, in the Hermitage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born Dec. 10, 1899, in Daviess County, Ky., the daughter of the late John and Mary Johnson. She was a retired teacher from the Pittsburgh Board of Education after 50 years. She was in the first graduating class of Owensboro High School, and graduated from Western Kentucky University. She was a member of the bridge club and nature clubs in Pittsburgh. She is survived by several cousins. Private graveside services will be held Wednesday. Interment in Rosehill Cemetery, 1300 Old Hartford Road, Kentucky. ROSE ELIZABETH MINCIN

Rose Elizabeth Mincin, of Baldwin, died Monday, April 24, 2000. Wife of the late Peter J. Mincin. mother of Gloria Harim and Robert Mincin. Grandmother of John (Sherry) Harim, Rose (Alex) Yawny, Dina Kay Harim, Lynn (Matthew) Donalies and Robert Mincin II. Sister of Edith Cilia, Torino Jr. and Leo Mincin. Also survived by five great-grandchildren. Mrs. Mincin was president of Baldwin Golden Agers for nine years, and a member of the Ladies of Charity, Christian Mothers of St. Albert and worked in the bingo kitchen at St. Albert. Friends received at the JOHN F. SLATER FUNERAL HOME INC., 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood, Tuesday and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Prayer Thursday morning at 9:15 a.m., followed by Mass of Christian Burial in St. Albert The Great Church at 10 a.m.

BYRON CLARENCE NICKELS

Byron Clarence Nickels, 84, of Allegheny Township, Leechburg, died Monday, April 24, 2000, at his home. He was born June 18, 1915, in Latrobe, the son of the late S. Elmer and Lena G. Weber Nickels. He lived in Allegheny Township for the past 50 years, previously in Arnold. He had been employed by the Peoples Natural Gas Company, Leechburg office, for 41 years as a sheet metal specialist, retiring in 1977. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Leechburg, the PNG Quarter Club, and Latrobe Hose Company #3 Fire Department. He was also a Gold Card Member/Allegheny Township #1 Fire Department. His hobbies were woodworking and metalworking. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Smith. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Charlotte F. Fulcomer Nickels of Allegheny Township; a son, Donald H. Nickels of Allegheny Township; two sisters , Lillian Ross of Murrysville and Mrs. George (Gladys) Doherty of Latrobe; two grandsons, Michael S. Nickels of Hyde Park and Mark A. Nickels of Allegheny Township; and a great-grandson, Donald A. Nickels of Allegheny Township. Friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at THE NEW CURRAN FUNERAL HOME, 300 Market St., Leechburg, where services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Ronald W. Raptosh officiating. Interment in Brookland Cemetery, Allegheny Township. Memorial contributions may be made to the Allegheny Township Volunteer Fire Department #1, or the First United Methodist Church, Leechburg.

MARY ELIZABETH PIPPERT

Mary Elizabeth Pippert, 96, of Mt. Pleasant, formerly of West Newton, died Friday, April 21, 2000, in Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant. She was born Jan. 24, 1904, in West Newton, a daughter of the late John Frederick Pippert and Hettie Latimore Pippert. She worked for the Mt. Lebanon public school system for 30 years, first as a music teacher and later as superintendent of all music instruction in the school system. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, West Newton. Miss Pippert earned a bachelor's degree at State College and a master's degree at New York University. She retired to her home in West Newton, and later moved to Harmon House, Mt. Pleasant. She is survived by her sister, Ruth Pippert Randol of Philadelphia; and two nephews, Burton S. Randol and William L. Randol, both of New York. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Wilma Wert; and a brother, J. Frederick "Duke" Pippert. Friends will be received Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the J. WILLIAM McCAULEY JR. FUNERAL HOME INC., West Newton, where services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Allen R. Riethmiller officiating. Interment in West Newton Cemetery.

VICTOR J. SZALANKIEWICZ

On Monday, April 24, 2000, Victor J. Szalankiewicz, 80, of Mt. Pleasant RD5, was called by his Heavenly Creator to his final resting place. He was born April 27, 1919, in Everson, a son of the late John and Magdalena Komanska Szalankiewicz. Prior to retirement, he was employed by the former Teledyne-Vasco Co., Latrobe. He was a member of St. Florian Catholic Church, United, a lifetime member of the Norvelt Volunteer Fire Department, a member of the VFW Post 3368 of Mt. Pleasant, was a Mt. Pleasant Township fire policeman, an honorary member of the United Steelworkers of America Local 7297 and a volunteer for more than 10 years at the Latrobe Area Hospital in Priority Care. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army in the 306th Troop Carrier Squad. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers and sisters , Walter Szalankiewicz, Agnes Napiorski, Casmier Szalankiewicz, Edward Szalankiewicz and Jessie Bozik. He was the beloved husband of 55 years to Mary L. Mozni Szalankiewicz; and loving Father of two children, Joan R. Szalankiewicz of Mt. Pleasant RD5 and Gerald J. Szalankiewicz and his wife, Carolyn, of Ligonier RD4; and the loving grandfather of Amy Lynn Szalankiewicz of Ligonier RD4. He is also survived by the following siblings, Mary Muszynski of McKees Rocks, Clara Kowalewski of Scottdale, Genevieve Fatla of Mt. Pleasant, Chester Szalankiewicz and Loretta Brissette, both of New Jersey; and nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the JAY A. HOFFER FUNERAL HOME, Norvelt, Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A blessing service will be held in the funeral home Thursday at 9:20 a.m., followed his Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Florian Church with the Rev. John M. Foriska and the Rev. Simon Toth as concelebrants. Interment will follow in St. Florian Cemetery, Trauger. A wake service will be held in the funeral home Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. military services will be accorded by the AMVETS Post 94 of United and the Armbrust Veterans. Sandra L. CLARA MARIE COLLET WULFKAMP WUENSTEL

Clara Marie Collet Wulfkamp Wuenstel, 87, of McCandless, passed into eternal life on Easter Sunday, April 23, 2000. She was born April 27, 1912, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late John and Sarah Allen Collet. She was a homemaker. She was a founding member of St. Alexis Church, Wexford. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles E. Wulfkamp and her second husband, Norbert E. Wuenstel; two sisters , Ruth Youngworth and Florence Collet; and three brothers , Charles Collet, Albert Collet and Fred Collet. Survivors include three daughters , Clara Marie Violi of Ross Township, Mary Jo Auth of Elliot and Carol Vaught of Elliot; a son, Robert J. Wuenstel of South Carolina; a sister, Agnes Gorman of Crafton; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the H.P. BRANDT FUNERAL HOME, 1032 Perry Highway, Ross Township. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St. Alexis Church, Wexford. Interment in Northside Catholic Cemetery, Ross Township. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the A.L.S. Association, Western Pennsylvania Chapter, 1323 Forbes Ave., Suite 206, Pittsburgh, PA 15219.

LORRAINE PEACE AXE

Lorraine Peace Axe, 64, of Export, formerly of Blairsville, died Saturday, April 22, 2000, in IHS at Mountain View, Unity Township. She was the daughter of James C. and Lorretta Ames Peace, and was born Dec. 14, 1935, in Saltsburg. Mrs. Axe was a member of the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, Blairsville. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by the former Federal Laboratories, Tunnelton, Pa. Surviving are her son, Randy Axe of Export; two daughters , Linda Ruffner of Export and Karen Raupach of Slickville; nine grandchildren; a great-grandchild; two brothers , James A. of Niles, Ohio, and Samuel H. of Delmont; and two sisters , Betty Bakich of Blairsville and Dorothy Oliver of Greensburg. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ronald D. Axe, in 1986; a son, Ronald Dean Axe; and a sister, Lois Easton Kanurick. The family will receive friends at the RICHARD L. SHOEMAKER FUNERAL HOME, 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held in the funeral home Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Bruce Theakston officiating. Interment will follow in Blairsville Cemetery.
