McDaniels, Pauline

Pauline B. McDaniels, 85, of Rockview Avenue, Shickshinny, died Tuesday at Berwick Hospital.
Born Aug. 8, 1914, in Wapwallopen, she was a daughter of the late Clyde and Maude (Travelpiece) Sones. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Shickshinny, and the Order of the Eastern Star, Shickshinny Chapter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kermit E. McDaniels.
Surviving are her daughter, Joann Prokay, Pittsburgh; and Kathryn Bailey, Selinsgrove; son, Terence, Martin, Ga.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Private funeral services will be at the convenience of the family from the Clarke Piatt Funeral Home, Inc., Sunset Lake Road, Hunlock Creek. Interment will be in Elan Memorial Park, South Center Township, near Bloomsburg. There will be no calling hours. McGavin, Anna

Anna E. McGavin, 80, of RR 3, Meshoppen, died Tuesday at the home of her daughter in Kingsley.
Born Sept. 10, 1919, in Clymer, Indiana County, she was a daughter of the late Jacob and Valeria Wozniak Sincavish. A graduate of Springville High School, she worked for more than 20 years at the Meshoppen Dress Factory and the Meshoppen Coat Factory. She was a member of the St. Joachim and St. Bonaventure Roman Catholic churches of Meshoppen and Auburn and the parish Altar and Rosary Society.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert M., Sr.; brothers , Elmer and Joseph; and sister, Mary Canavan.
Surviving are her son, Robert, F., Meshoppen; daughters , Jeanette Gardoski, with whom she resided; and Diane Bunnell, Meshoppen; seven grandchildren; several grandchildren; brother, Francis, Meshoppen; sisters , Helen Sincavish, Meshoppen; and Rosella Branowski, New York City; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Friday from the Sheldon Funeral Home, Main Street, Meshoppen, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Bonaventure Roman Catholic Church, Auburn. The Rev. Joseph J. Manarchuck will officiate. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. The rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Northeast Health and Hospice, 38 Main St., Pittston, 18640.

A. Kay (Kindig) McGeehan, 45, with a mailing address of RR 2 in Orangeville, died Friday at her home. She was in ill health for the past three years.
Born Feb. 13, 1954, in the Bloomsburg Hospital, she was the daughter of Richard D. and Colleen C. (Cleaver) Kindig, of Orangeville.
She was a 1972 graduate of Severna Park High School, Severna Park, Md. She took courses at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, where she worked as a medical transcriptionist.
She was a member of the Stillwater Christian Church and spent most of her life in Columbia County.
Surviving, in addition to her parents, are her daughters , Kelly D. Pollock, Orangeville; Erin Lea O'Handley, Benton; sisters , Kathleen S. Kindig, Freeland, Md.; Rebecca Q. Fidrick, Berwick; brothers , Dale R. Kindig, at home; Dean A. Kindig, Baltimore; and Terry P. Kindig, Orangeville.
Memorial Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the McMichael Funeral Home, RR 2, Route 487, Benton, with Paul J. Bowles, Pastor of the Stillwater Christian Church, officiating.
There will be no calling hours.
MCGEEVER, JAMES

James J. McGeever, 88, of North Thomas Avenue, Kingston, died Saturday at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
He was the son of the late John and Rose (Sweeney) McGeever.
He was a graduate of St. Leo's High School, Ashley, class of 1930, and was a member of its championship basketball team.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and participated in the Battle of the Bulge. He received the Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Medal, European, African, Middle Eastern Service Medal with five Bronze Stars and other meritorious awards.
He was employed by Glen Alden Coal Co., Ashley, and Triangle Shoe, Kingston, before retiring.
He was a retired member of the United Mine Workers and Teamsters Local 401. He was a 50-year member of the American Legion Post 395 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, both in Kingston. He was a member of the YMCA for more than 50 years and was a member of the Lehman Golf Club.
He was a member of St. Ignatius Church, Kingston, and its Holy Name Society.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Hummer.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, the former Agnes Grutko; nieces and nephews.
A military Funeral will be at 8:45 a.m. Wednesday from the Leo P. Lehman Funeral Home, 689 Hazle Ave., Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Ann's Chapel, Hoyt Street, Kingston, with Monsignor Neil J. VanLoon, his pastor, officiating.
Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.

Mary Oliver McGinty, 71, of Maricrest Drive, Amherst, N.Y., formerly of West Pittston, died Friday at the Hospice Inpatient Unit, Cheektowaga, N.Y., following a lengthy illness.
Born in Pittston, she was daughter of the late Arthur and Lenore Jones Oliver.
She was a 1944 graduate of West Pittston High School.
She resided in West Pittston until relocating to Tonawanda, N.Y., with her husband and family in 1959.
She was employed as an executive secretary to the president of several Buffalo, N.Y., companies. Before she retired, she was employed by Berlew Real Estate, Buffalo.
She was a member of St. Christopher's Roman Catholic Church, Tonawanda, N.Y., where she was a Eucharistic minister and participated in its Senior Citizens Club.
She enjoyed gardening and home decorating and was a gourmet cook.
Surviving are her husband of 47 years, John P.; children, Brian, Tonawanda, N.Y.; John, Henderson, Nevada; Siobhan, Nashua, N.H.; Erin, Tonawanda, N.Y.; Neil, Amherst, N.Y.; 14 grandchildren; sisters , Jane Smith Landau, Kingston; Mrs. Louis (Lois) Forlenza, West Pittston; Sharon O. Gold, Arlington, Va.; a brother, Karl J. Oliver, Milford, Del.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 12:45 p.m. Monday from the Amigone Funeral Home, Sheridan Drive, Tonawanda, N.Y., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:30 p.m. in St. Christopher's Church.
Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Tonawanda, N.Y.

Alice McGroarty, 97, formerly of Scott Street, East End section of Wilkes-Barre, died Wednesday at the Hospice Care of VNA Inpatient Unit at Heritage House, Wilkes-Barre.
Born Oct. 29, 1902, in Fairmount Springs, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Josephine (Saurs) Mitchell. She was a member of Holy Saviour Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Leo; son, Charles John; and granddaughter, Mary Ann Nowikowski.
Surviving are her daughters , Marion Engelman, Noxen; Betty Reese, Wilkes-Barre; two grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and five great great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday from the E. Slake Collins Funeral Home, 159 George Ave., Wilkes-Barre, with a funeral Mass at 12 p.m. in Holy Saviour Church. McHugh, Joseph

Joseph A. McHugh Jr., 76, of Calle Edmundo Street, Sun City, Calif., died Wednesday at his home.
Born Jan. 19, 1923, in Wilkes-Barre Township, he was a son of the late Joseph A. and Mary C. (Strish) McHugh. A 1940 graduate of Wilkes-Barre Township High School, he attended Wilkes College and was a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps serving in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He worked for United Chem-Con Co. and retired from Caldwell Bankers Real Estate Co. as an agent. He was a member of St. Vincent Ferrar Church, Sun City.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Sharshon.
Surviving are his wife, Julia; son, Joseph, Cherry Valley, Calif.; daughters , Julie Ann Walton, Margarite, Calif.; and Phyllis Hawley, Kings Park, N.Y.; Patricia Wallack, Newport Beach, Calif.; Theresa Gray, Costa Mesa, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated this morning in St. Vincent Ferrar Church. Interment will be in Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, Calif. Funeral arrangements are by the Aaron Funeral Home, Loma-Linda, Calif.
DENNIS MCNULTY
Dennis M. McNulty Sr., 73, of the East End section of Wilkes-Barre died Tuesday at his home.
Born in the East End section of Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late John J. and Mary Loretta Casey McNulty.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the
Korean War, attaining the rank of sergeant first class and earning three Bronze Stars.
He was employed by the D&H Railroad and then by Acme Markets for 37 years before retiring in 1987.
He was a member of Holy Saviour Church in Wilkes-Barre and the parish Holy Name Society.
He was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus with Wilkes-Barre Council 302; a member of Plains American Legion, Joseph E. Conlon Post 558; and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Local 401 in Wilkes-Barre.
He served as a Democratic committeeman in Ward 2, District 3.
Surviving are his wife, the former Mary Lou Loftus, with whom he celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary Oct. 5; daughter, Mary Lou McNulty, at home; sons , Dennis McNulty Jr., Laflin; and Brian McNulty, Plains Township; four grandsons; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Friday from the Corcoran Funeral Home, 20 S. Main St., Plains Township, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Holy Saviour Church.
Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Hanover Township.

MEADE, DONALD

Donald F. Meade, 87, of Trucksville, died Friday in the Hospice Community Care Inpatient Unit at Mercy Hospital in Wilkes-Barre.
Born March 27, 1912, in New York City, he was a son of the late John and Grace (Aldridge) Meade. He attended Philadelphia schools.
He had resided in Philadelphia before moving to Trucksville in 1957.
Before retiring in 1974, he was employed as a maintenance man for Linear, Inc., in Dallas.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was a member of St. Therese's Church in Shavertown, the parish Holy Name Society and Ushers Group. He also was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Dallas.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Mary (Mae) Voyce; brothers , Wallace and Albert; and stepmother, Elva (Erwine) Meade.
Surviving are his daughters , Carol Turak, Hunlock Creek; Judy Dougherty, Larksville; and Mary Pratz, Trucksville, Kingston Township; 11 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday from the Harold C. Snowdon Funeral Home, 140 N. Main St., Shavertown, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Therese's Church. Monsignor J. Peter Crynes will officiate.
Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery in the Carverton section of Kingston Township.
