Lovecchio, Angelo Sr.

Angelo M. "Scorchy" Lovecchio Sr., 81, of Berwick, died Saturday.
Born June 22, 1918, in Berwick, he was a son of the late Antonio and Teresa (Massimo) Lovecchio.
He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
He worked for AC&F Industries, Berwick, as a sales representative for Sacco Beer Distributor Inc., and as sexton at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Berwick.
He was a charter member of the Catholic War Veterans No. 1419, of which he was commander and district commander, and the Knights of Columbus Council No. 3301, and a member of St. Joseph's Church, the American Legion, the VFW Post 821, the Berwick Eagles, the Garibaldi Society and the Maria Assunta.
He was preceded in death by his sisters , Mary Norce, Regina Manco, Rose DiPippa and Lorraine Lovecchio; and brother, Emedio Lovecchio.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, the former Marguerite Leggiere; sons , Joseph A., Warminster; Anthony A., South Williamsport; and Angelo M. Jr., Dallas; daughters , Teresa Yatko, Bloomsburg; and Mary A. Quinto, Philadelphia; five grandchildren; and sister, Jacqueline Melchorrie, Berwick.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at noon Tuesday in St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Monroe Street, Berwick, with the Rev. Dominick Mammarella officiating.
Interment will be in St. Mary's Parish Cemetery, Briar Creek Township.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the James L. Hinckley Jr. Funeral Home, 1024 Market St., Berwick.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Lowe, Bette

Bette (Sprow) Lowe, 86, formerly of Plymouth, died Saturday at Dorrance Manor, Kingston.
Born Dec. 27, 1913, in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Carrie (Fisher) Sprow.
She attended Plymouth schools.
She had worked at Woolworth's, Wilkes-Barre.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Plymouth, and its choir.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jeremiah; brothers , William, Harry and James Sprow; and sister, Mildred Hoffman.
Surviving are several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday from the Williams Funeral Home, 114 W. Main St., Plymouth, with the Rev. Donald Littleton officiating.
Interment will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hanover Township.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday.
LOWMAN, BRIAN

Brian J. Lowman, 26, died Saturday in Brandywine Hospital, Coatesville.
Born Jan. 12, 1973, in East Stroudsburg, he was the son of Marita (Dempsey) Lowman, Scranton.
He spent his early years in Dunmore and attended St. Clare's School. He graduated from St. Nicholas-St. Mary's Elementary School and Bishop Hoban High School, both in Wilkes-Barre. He attended West Chester University and Lackawanna Junior College.
He was a member of St. Paul's Church, Scranton, and a former member of St. Nicholas Church, Wilkes-Barre.
He participated in numerous youth sports leagues and worked in the sports departments of The Times Leader and the former Sunday Independent.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Joseph P. Dempsey.
Surviving, in addition to his mother , are a daughter, Essence, Wilkes-Barre; grandmother, Mrs. Joseph Dempsey, Dunmore; aunts, uncles, a niece, nephew and numerous cousins.
Funeral services will be Wednesday from the Thomas J. Golden Funeral Home, 2004 Delaware St., Dunmore, with Mass at 9:30 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, Scranton.
Interment will be in St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today.

ALAN MAC DUFF
April 2, 1999
Alan Paul Mac Duff, 52, of the Milton section of Jefferson Township died April 2 at his home.
Born in Passaic, N.J., he had lived in Butler, N.J., before coming to Jefferson Township 18 years ago.
He was an alarm installer with Absolute Detection Systems of Ringwood, N.J., for the past five years. He had previously owned and operated his own alarm business, Lynco Protective Service, for 26 years.
He was preceded in death by his son, Alan P., Jr.
Surviving are his wife, the former Edwina Falchek, daughter, Jennifer, and son, Ben, all of Jefferson Township; sister, Virginia Greuwell, Durham, N.C.; and several relatives in the Wilkes-Barre area.
Funeral services were from the Goble Funeral Home in Sparta, N.J.
MACK, DOROTHY

Dorothy E. Casey Mack, of Bear Creek Township, died Sunday at the Washoe Medical Center in Reno, Nev., while visiting in the Reno area.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late George and Edith Jassie Umlah. She was a graduate of Elmer L. Meyers High School in Wilkes-Barre.
She had been employed by the Joyce-Western Corp. in Wilkes-Barre for some time. For the past 23 years, she was a secretary/stenographer with the Luzerne County Domestic Relations Court at the county courthouse in Wilkes-Barre.
She was a member of the Messiah Primitive Methodist Church in Bear Creek Township.
She had served as secretary of the Bear Creek Township Zoning Board and the township Zoning Hearing Board.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Casey, and by several brothers and sisters .
Surviving are her second husband, Darwin Q. "Skip" Mack, with whom she recently celebrated their 28th wedding anniversary; son, James Casey, Wilkes-Barre; daughter, D. Sharon Smith, Reno, Nev.; stepsons, Darwin Q. Mack Jr., Wilkes-Barre; Dwight D. Mack, Bear Creek; an "adopted" son, Joey Jeziorski, Bear Creek; stepdaughter, Denise Smith, Plains Township; brother, Leo, Hartford, Conn.; sister, Martha Barger, Wilkes-Barre; three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, one great-stepgranddaughter, and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Messiah Primitive Methodist Church on Pittston Boulevard in Bear Creek Township. The Rev. Reginald Thomas will officiate.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the church after the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Messiah Primitive Methodist Church, or to a charity of the donor's choice.

JOAN MACMILLAN

Joan I. MacMillan, 55, of Noxen died Thursday at her home.
Born Feb. 28, 1944, in Kingston, she was a daughter of Myrtle Turner MacMillan, with whom she resided, and the late Jeddie MacMillan. She resided in Noxen all of her life.
She was a 1962 graduate of Lake-Lehman High School.
She was employed by the former Nancy's Fashions at Bowman's Creek and the former Country Manor at Harveys Lake.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Ruth Jurista.
Surviving, in addition to her mother , are her brother, John L., with whom she resided; sister, Nancy Vilasi, Binghamton, N.Y.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A private funeral service will be at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice Community Care in Kingston.
Arrangements are by the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., in the Pikes Creek section of Lake Township.

Josephine M. (Festino) Madesky, of Winona Lakes, East Stroudsburg, died Friday at the Pleasant Valley Manor, Snydersville.
Born in Old Forge, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret Revello Festino.
She was a graduate of Taylor High School and was a member of St. Mary's Church, Old Forge.
Surviving are her daughters , Theresann Madesky Allamuchy, New Jersey; Stannis Dotterer, East Stroudsburg; brother, Raymond Festino, Old Forge; sisters , Marie Corbett, Lucy Salerno and Theresa Ripa, all of Old Forge; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday from the Louis V. Ciuccio Funeral Home, 145 Moosic Road, Old Forge, with Mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, West Grace Street, Old Forge.

Charles Magnani, of 502 Boesel Ave., Manville, N.J., died Sunday at St. Luke's Hospital, Bethlehem, Pa.
Born in Scranton, he was a son of the late Carlino "Charles" and Rosa Florino (Mineo) Magnani.
He was a 1956 graduate of Scranton Technical High School, and attended Rutgers University.
He was the owner and director of Proven Technology Inc., Bellemead, N.J.
He was a member of the Society of Plastic Engineers and Professional Who's Who.
Surviving are his wife, the former Mary Louise DiVecchia, with whom he celebrated their 39th anniversary on April 23; sons , Charles J. and Steven J., both of Manville, N.J.; brother, Frank, Miami; sisters , Mary Arciditona, Bellevue, N.J.; Angela August and Marie McIntyre, both of Scranton; Carmella Karluk, Davie, Fla.; and Anna Spinella, Williston, Fla.; one grandchild and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 9:15 a.m. Thursday from the Louis V. Ciuccio Funeral Home, 145 Moosic Road, Old Forge, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Ann's Basilica, Scranton, with the Rev. Roger Eliott officiating.
Interment will be in Old Forge Cemetery.
