Louis Kramer

May 18, 1998

Louis M. Kramer, 79, of Hatfield Township, Montgomery County, died Monday at the North Penn Hospital emergency room in Hatfield Township after becoming ill at his home.

Born and raised in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Louis and Louise (Vollinger) Kramer.

He was a graduate of St. Nicholas High School.

He moved to Hatfield in 1953 from Philadelphia.

He was employed for more than 30 years with Hoffman Tool and Die Co., Montgomeryville, as a precision grinder.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.

He was a member of Hatfield American Legion Post 933.

He was an active member of St. Maria Goretti Church in Hatfield. He and his wife were co-chairs of the St. Maria Goretti New Building Fund.

He was the husband of Anne N. (Owens) Kramer, with whom he celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary this past February.

He was preceded in death by a son, David Louis Kramer, in 1985; sisters Rose Chickson, Louise Regal and Elizabeth Glenn.

Surviving in addition to his wife are his sons Michael Anthony Kramer, Hatfield; Patrick J. Kramer, Perkasie; daughters Mary Katherine Leypoldt, Pottstown; Louanne M. DeCarme, Telford; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Maria Goretti Church, Cowpath and Derstines roads, Hatfield.

Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. to 10:50 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

Interment will be in St. John Neumann Cemetery, Chalfont, Bucks County.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Maria Goretti Church Building Fund.

Arrangements are by the Kligge Funeral Home, Inc., Hatfield.

Peter Krawec

May 23, 1998

Peter Krawec, 84, a resident of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Veteran's Center, Scranton, died Saturday at the center.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, Sept. 1, 1913, he was the son of the late John and Catherine Guzda Krawec.

He was educated in the Wilkes-Barre city schools and was employed for many years in the construction industry both locally and in the New York City area.

He served with the U.S. Army during World War II in Italy and Tunisia. He received the European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal along with several other commendations.

He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Parsons Memorial Post 6227.

He was preceded in death by brothers Harry, Charles and Paul; sisters Mary and Jean.

Surviving are his wife, the former Sophie Pakaluk, Wilkes-Barre; sons Peter, Philadelphia; Stephen, New Berlin; daughters Diane Sabol, Mountaintop; Rosemary Poland, Ava, N.Y.; sisters Ann Tarnoski, Wilkes-Barre; Sophie, Connecticut; three grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family from the Simon S. Russin Funeral Home, Inc., 136 Maffett St., Plains, with a funeral Mass in St. Jude's Church, Mountaintop, with the Rev. Paul Mullen officiating.

Interment will be in Chapel Lawn Memorial Park, Dallas.

Private family viewing will be held.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

KRELLA, JOHN

October 30, 1999

John Francis Krella, 80, of Bradford Street, Wilkes-Barre, died Saturday at the Hampton House Nursing Center, Sans Souci Parkway, Hanover Township.

Born June 12, 1919, in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Matthew and Barbara (Lazarik) Krella.

He attended the Wilkes-Barre school and was a resident of the Rolling Mill Hill section of Wilkes-Barre for 54 years.

He was employed by the Breaker and Huber Colliery, Ashley, as a miner until 1964. He was last employed as a security guard by the Air Products in Hanover Township, retiring in 1989.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving from 1942 to 1945 in the Headquarters Co. 155th Infantry Regiment, 31st Infantry Division. He served in the battles and campaigns in New Guinea and the Southern Philippines, receiving the Good Conduct Medal, Meritorious Unit Award, Philippines Liberation Ribbon, American Theater Service Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Service Medal with two Bronze Stars and the Victory Medal.

He was a member of St. Boniface Church, Wilkes-Barre, where he was a charter member of its Holy Name Society. He also was a former member of the Republic Club, Wilkes-Barre.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, the former Margaret Chverha; and brother, Joseph Krella.

Surviving are his daughters , Barbara Walk, Nanticoke; Mary Cronauer, Wilkes-Barre; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday from the George A. Strish, Inc., Funeral Home, 105 N. Main St., Ashley, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Boniface Church, Wilkes-Barre.

Interment will be in the family plot in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Dallas.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Boniface Church.

Katherine Krescanko

May 13, 1998

Katherine B. Krescanko, 91, of Larksville, died Wednesday at Manorcare Health Services, Kingston.

Born in Larksville, she was daughter of the late Agnes and Jacob Piatkiewicz.

She resided in Danville for 15 years.

She attended Larksville schools and graduated from Wilkes-Barre Evening School. She graduated from Danville State Hospital School of Nursing with highest honors in 1931. She received a bachelor of science degree in nursing education from College Misericordia in 1959.

She was an organizer of Group 448 of the Polish Women's Alliance.

She was a member and secretary of the Larksville Property Owners; a member of the Pennsylvania Association of Retired State Employees; and a member of St. John the Baptist Church, Larksville.

Before she retired in 1969, she was employed at the Retreat State Hospital as a registered nurse supervisor. She was employed for 29 years by the Pennsylvania State Hospital System.

She and her late husband celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Feb. 16, 1995.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Krescanko, in 1997; a brother, Michael; sisters , Mary Clune, Clara Hahn, Estelle Gordon and Julia Lewis.

Surviving are daughters , Judy Sheehan, Larksville; Karen Barnoski, Alexandria, Va.; three granddaughters; one great-grandson; sisters , Sophia Barsh and Josephine Klemek; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday from the Andrew Strish Funeral Home, 11 Wilson St., Larksville, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, Nesbitt Street, Larksville.

Interment will be in the parish Cemetery, Dallas.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today. The Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m., with the Rev. John Masakowski officiating.

ANN KRUFKA

Ann R. (Rzodsky) Krufka, of West Main Street in Plymouth died Saturday at the Mercy Health Care Center in Newport Township.

Born Sept. 5, 1915, in Plymouth, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Hedwig Stonik Rzodsky.

She was a life resident of Plymouth and a graduate of Plymouth High School. She graduated from the Empire Beauty College in Wilkes-Barre, and attended Luzerne County Community College.

She formerly owned and operated Ann's Beauty Shop, West Main Street in Plymouth.

She was a member of St. Mary's Nativity Church in Plymouth, and its St. Cecilia's Choir; Polish American Congress; the Polish National Alliance; and the Plymouth Historical Society.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter, in 1971; sister, Mary Perlick; brothers , Stanley, Charles, Benjamin, John, Frank, Mitchell, James and Leonard Rzodsky.

Surviving is a sister, Amelia Nice, Lyndwood, Hanover Township; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday from the Piszczek Funeral Home, 70 E. Main St., Plymouth with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in St. Mary's Nativity Church.

Interment will be in the parish cemetery in Plymouth Township.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday.

A Rosary Service will be Monday.

KRUK, THERESA

December 26, 1999

Theresa Kruk, of Fluvanna Road, Newport News, Va., died Sunday at her home.

Funeral arrangements are pending from the Piszczek Funeral Home, 70 E. Main St., Plymouth.

Krzywicki, John S.

February 9, 2000

John S. Krzywicki, of Nesbitt Street, Larksville, died Wednesday at Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre.

A lifelong resident of Larksville, he was the son of the late Stanley and Frances (Kozloski) Krzywicki and a 1935 graduate of Larksville High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a 54-year member of Larksville American Legion Post 655.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, the former Bessie Jane Smith; second wife, the former Marie Bonoski; son, Daniel Bonoski; companion, Florence Grigas; sisters , Helen Williams and Mary Janoski; and great-grandson, Jason Carey.

Surviving are his sons , Francis, Shickshinny; Martin, Gainesville, Fla.; and Charles, Toms River, N.J.; daughters , Jean Carey, Larksville; and Donna Edwards, Harveys Lake.

Private funeral services were from the Andrew Strish Funeral Home, Larksville.

KUCHARSKI, SOPHIS

October 7, 1999

Sophie Kucharski, formerly of Nanticoke, passed away Thursday at Bradford County Manor in Troy, Pa.

Born in Nanticoke, she was the daughter of the late Adalbert and Frances Kowaleski, Omolecki.

She was a graduate of Nanticoke High School.

She was a member of Holy Family Church in Sugar Notch, and the parish Christian Mothers.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; and daughter, Carol Kasulanis.

Surviving are her son, Eugene and his wife, Arlene, Apalachin, N.Y.; son-in-law, Charles Kasulanis, Glen Gardner, N.J.; grandchildren, Kim, Karen, Eugene Jr., Lynn, Susan and Charles; great-grandchildren, Hannah, Chloe, Scott and Brian; sisters , Helen Romanowski, Nanticoke; and Eleanor Swick and her husband, Stanley, Apalachin, N.Y.; brother, Frank Omolecki and his wife, Bernadine, Nanticoke; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 8:15 a.m. from the Earl W. Lohman Funeral Home, 14 W. Green St., Nanticoke, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in Holy Family Church in Sugar Notch. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Hanover Township.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to a charity of the donor's choice.

She will be remembered by family and friends especially for her pies and poems.
