Virginia "Ginny" Kolesar, of Sambourne Street, Wilkes-Barre, died Sunday at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Plains Township.
Born in Washington , D.C., she was a daughter of Thelma "Dolly" Whittington, Wilkes-Barre, and the late Clifton Ballenger.
She attended Meyers High School, Wilkes-Barre.
She formerly was employed at the First Eastern Bank, Wilkes-Barre, and later at the Mark II Family Restaurant, Edwardsville, and the J.C. Harland Co., Hanover Township.
She was preceded in death by her brother, George Martinson; and one nephew.
Surviving in addition to her mother are her daughters , Thelma "T.C." Kolesar, Wilkes-Barre; and Jennifer Kolesar, Hanover Township; brother, John Martinson, Harveys Lake; and several nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday from the Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, Park Avenue and South Street, Wilkes-Barre, with the Rev. Sue Wenner, pastor of the Albright United Methodist Church, Wilkes-Barre, officiating.
Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hanover Township.

HELEN KOMENSKY
Helen (Lokuta) Komensky, 85, formerly of Avoca and Linden, N.J., died Wednesday at Mifflin Care Center in Mansfield, Ohio.
Born in Avoca, she was a daughter of the late Paul and Anna (Mozeleski) Lokuta.
She was a graduate of Avoca High School and the University of Scranton.
Before retiring, she was employed as a steward by Wilson and Jones in Linden, N.J. She was also an avid bird collector.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Komensky, in 1996; brothers , Leo Lokuta and Michael Lokuta; and sister, Anna Samalionis.
Surviving are her sisters , Ethel Quick, Mansfield, Ohio; and Mary Mazgaj, Blasdell, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Monday from the Kniffen O'Malley Funeral Home Inc., 728 Main St., Avoca with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Saints Peter and Paul Church in Avoca, with the Rev. Mark Bochinski officiating.
Interment will be in Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery in Moosic.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.
EDWARD KONDRACKI
Edward J. Kondracki, 80, of West Main Street in Plymouth died Wednesday at the Penn State Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Plains Township.
Born Sept. 21, 1918 in Plymouth, he was the son of the late Joseph and Anna (Suda) Kondracki.
He attended Plymouth schools and was a lifelong resident of the borough.
He was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Plymouth.
He was last employed as a coal miner by the Glen Alden Coal Co. for many years and was a member of the United Mine Workers of America.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, stationed in Australia.
He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Shawnee Post 1425, Disabled American Veterans Post 32, and American Legion Post 463, all in Plymouth.
He was preceded in death by his brothers , Frank Kondracki and Joseph Kondracki.
Surviving are his daughter, Gloria Jean Ryback, Lower Askam section of Hanover Township; sons , Edward S. Kondracki, Carthage, N.Y.; and Anthony Kondracki, Daytona Beach, Fla.; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; sisters , Mary Becaski and Stella Warkevicz, both of Plymouth; and Anna Hughes, Flushing, N.Y.; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 8:30 a.m. Saturday from the S.J. Grontkowski Funeral Home, 530 W. Main St., Plymouth with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church.
Interment will be in the parish cemetery in Plymouth Township.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. The rosary will be recited Friday.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Konesky, Helen

Helen (Sobieraj) Konesky, of Larksville, died Saturday at Dorrance Manor, Kingston.
Born in Larksville, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Joanne (Gabryszewski) Sobieraj.
She worked for the R & K Dress Co., Plymouth.
She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church, Larksville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John; brother, Bernard Soberai; and sister, Emily Sobierai.
Surviving are her brothers , Alexander Sobierai, at home; and Joseph Sabirai, Buffalo, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday from the Kopicki Funeral Home, 263 Zerbey Ave., Kingston, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church.
Interment will be in the parish Cemetery, Dallas.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. by the Rev. John C. Masakowski.
Konn, Mary
March 16, 2000
Mary Katherine Konn, 90, of Konn's Corners, Wright Township, died Thursday at Davis Manor, Mountaintop.
Born Jan. 2, 1910, in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Katherine Zaklukiewicz. She was a member of St. Jude's Roman Catholic Church, its Altar and Rosary Society and the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital Ladies Auxiliary. She and her husband, Anthony F. Konn Sr., owned and operated Konn's Store, S. Mountain Blvd., Wright Township.
She was preceded in death by her sisters , Stella Manacle and Sally Sliwinski.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are her daughters , Genevieve Petroski, Roberta Malone, Antoinette Konn, and Mary Dopp, all of Mountaintop; and son, Anthony F., Jr., Stroudsburg, 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday from the McCune Funeral Home, 80 S. Mountain Blvd., Mountaintop, with a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Jude's Church. Kopinski, Sophie

Sophie J. Kopinski, of East South Street, Wilkes-Barre, died Friday at her home.
Born Feb. 9, 1912, in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Mary (Janiga) Baranowski. A lifelong Wilkes-Barre resident, she attended St. Mary's Polish School and worked as a seamstress for Rosmar Manufacturing and P&R Clothing, all in the city. She was a member of St. Mary's Church of the Maternity, Wilkes-Barre, and the parish Altar & Rosary Society.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John J.; brothers , John and Stanley; sister, Anna Piznar; and grandson, Mark Kopinski.
Surviving are her sons , Joseph, Thomas, William and Carl, all of Wilkes-Barre; and John, Jr., Germantown, Md.; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday from the Jendrzejewski Funeral Home, 21 N. Meade St., Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Mary's Church of the Maternity. Robert Otto Kosek, of South Main Street in Wilkes-Barre, died Monday at Penn State Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township.
Born Nov. 9, 1942, he was the son of the late John and Anna Tigue Kosek.
He was a lifelong resident of Wilkes-Barre.
He was a 1960 graduate of GAR Memorial High School, Wilkes-Barre, and attended Luzerne County Community College.
He was employed as the deputy housing administrator for the city of Wilkes-Barre. He was also employed by Luzerne County in the purchasing department for the last 20 years.
He was a member of St. Nicholas Church, Wilkes-Barre, where he was a former Eucharistic minister and was active in many church functions.
He volunteered with several local Boy Scout troops for many years and was a member of the Wilkes-Barre Democratic Club.
He was preceded in death by brothers , Francis and Donald Kosek; and Fred Gray.
Surviving are his wife, the former Barbara Jendrzejewski; son, Jason, Phoenix, Ariz.; daughter, Rebecca Powell, Ashley; brothers , John, Wilkes-Barre; Charles, Herndon, Va.; sister, Ann Mashinski, Wilkes-Barre; and one granddaughter.
Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday from the Jendrzejewski Funeral Home, 21 N. Meade St., Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Nicholas Church, Wilkes-Barre.
Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today.

VERONICA KOSLOWSKI
Veronica Koslowski, of White Haven died Saturday at her home.
Funeral arrangements are pending from the Joseph E. Lehman Funeral Home, Inc. in White Haven.
Robert Kovach
Robert Kovach, of Pear Street, Swoyersville died Tuesday December 8, 1998 at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born in Swoyersville, he was a son of the late Paul and Mary Topaza Kovach.
He was a member of St. Anthony's Padua Church, Exeter.
He attended Swoyersville schools and the Kingston Technical Institute.
He was employed by the United Pants Factory for over 20 years.
Since 1972, he has been a cement mason affiliated with the Cement Mason Local 592 of Eastern Pennsylvania and the Local 150, Scranton and Wilkes-Barre, where he served as a former trustee.
He was preceded in death by a his brother, Dennis Kovach.
Surviving are his wife of 46 years, the former Rosalie Mazzarella; daughters and sons -in-law, Paula and Gary VanScoy, Swoyersville and Bobbie and Gene Shendock, West Wyoming; and a grandson, Justin VanScoy.
Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Saturday from the Lehman-Gregory Funeral Home Inc., 281 Chapel St., Swoyersville with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Anthony's of Padua Church, Exeter.
Entombment will be in Dennison Cemetery, Swoyersville.

A wake service will be conducted Friday.
Helen Koval
April 17, 1998
Helen Koval, 79, of West Chestnut Street, Wilkes-Barre, died Friday at her home after a lengthy illness.
Born Aug. 31, 1918, in Wilkes-Barre, she was daughter of the late Stephen and Mary Daru Washko.
She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church, North Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, and was educated in Wilkes-Barre city schools.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John, in 1979; sisters , Anna Kosko, Mary Kostak, Julia Andrews, Martha Sardinsky and Margaret Abramowitz.
Surviving are children, Marian Shatrowsky, Levittown; George S. Koval, Broomall; Robert J. Koval and John J. Koval Jr., both of Wilkes-Barre; Barbara Yatsko, North Brunswick, N.J.; Donald J. Koval and Gerald J. Koval, both of Wilkes-Barre; 17 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday from the John V. Morris Funeral Home, 625 N. Main St., Wilkes-Barre, with a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church. His great-nephew, the Rev. Andrew S. Hvozdovic, pastor of the Church of St. Luke, Jersey Shore, will officiate.
Interment will be in the parish Cemetery, Dallas.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. There will be a Vigil Service on Sunday evening with the Rev. Joseph Devizia, permanent deacon of Sacred Heart of Jesus and St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic churches, officiating.
