JOHN KAMINSKI

John "Sonny" Kaminski, 67, with a mailing address of RR 3 in Shickshinny, died Friday at his home.
Born May 28, 1931, in Shickshinny, he was the son of Anna (Funket) Kaminski, of Berwick, and the late Anthony Kaminski.
He was employed at the Glen Alden Coal Co., the Consolidated Cigar Corp. in Berwick, Berwick Forge and Fabricating and was last employed by the Country Cousins Shoe Factory in Mocanaqua.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
He was a member of the Slovonic American Club in Berwick; the Polish Falcons Club, Mocanaqua; the Italian Club in Newport Township; and a life member of the Mocanaqua Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He was a member of St. Mary's Church in Mocanaqua.
He and his wife, the former Dorothy Pszeniczny, were married May 2, 1959.
Surviving, in addition to his mother and wife, are sons , Stephen Kaminski, Benton; John A. Kaminski, Dayton, Ohio; daughters , Laura Steimer, Berwick; Mary Truskowski, White Haven; Julie Daro, Plymouth; sister, Ceclia Banas, Berwick; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday from the Mayo Funeral Home, Inc., 77 N. Main St., Shickshinny, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mary's Church.
Interment will be at the convenience of the family in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday. A vigil service will be at 8 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
Kammerer, Anna

Anna Kammerer, 82, of East Main Street, Nanticoke, died Wednesday at home.
Born in Nanticoke, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Eva (Haydock) Gingeroski. She was a factory worker for General Cigar Co., Nanticoke. She was a member of St. Nicholas Greek Catholic Church, Nanticoke.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; brothers , Wasil, John and Michael; and sisters , Olga, Steffanie, Irene and Helen.
Surviving are her sisters , Antoinette Mundenor, Pittston; Mary Giza, Hampton House Nursing Home, Hanover Township; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 8:30 a.m. Saturday from the Grontkowski Funeral Home P.C. 51-53 W. Green St., Nanticoke, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Stanislaus Church at 9 a.m. Interment will be in St. Nicholas Cemetery, Nanticoke. Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Friday.
KAPITULA, JOYCE

Joyce E. Kapitula, of Weavertown Road in Shavertown, a guest at the Hampton House in Hanover Township, died Tuesday at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born Nov. 29, 1944, in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late John and Frances (Lewis) Minuski.
She was a graduate of Coughlin High School.
She was employed by Leslie Fay until 1986, and was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union.
She was a member of Holy Resurrection Church in Wilkes-Barre, the Fraternal Order of Eagles 546 Auxiliary in Plymouth, and the Teamsters For Democratic Union.
She was preceded in death by her grandson, Phillip James Fromel.
Surviving are her husband of 17 years, David; daughters , Desiree, at home; and Debbie Fromel, Nanticoke; son, Leonard Tkaczyk, Plymouth; five grandchildren; brothers , John, Hunlock Creek; James, Plymouth; sisters , Joan Brady, Colonial, N.J.; Janet Borsavage, Plymouth; Janis Berjewski, Nanticoke; and Judy Judzikowski and Jean Lantiegne, both of Plymouth; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday from the Williams Funeral Home, 114 W. Main St., Plymouth. The Rev. Edward Gospodinsky will officiate. Interment will be in Oakdale Cemetery.

Stephen Kapsick
April 16, 1998
Stephen N. Kapsick of Vaughn Street, Luzerne, died Thursday of cancer in the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center Hospice Care, Wilkes-Barre.
Born in 1917, he was the son of the late Joseph and Frances Halic Kapsick.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Luzerne.
He worked as a bakery apprentice until he was inducted into military service for the U.S. Army in 1942. He fought in World War II as a corporal with Company A, 30th Infantry. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, the Distinguished Unit Badge, the European/African/Middle Eastern Service Medal with five bronze stars and the Purple Heart. He received an honorable discharge in 1945.
He was employed by the Veterans Administration Hospital and later by ARAMARK at the Wyoming Valley West Middle School, Kingston.
He was a member of the American Legion, Luzerne, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Kingston, where he served as past commander, post adjutant and chaplain. He was a Third Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus, Luzerne Council.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Ann Polanshek; a son, Steven; a sister, Gussy Bucci.
Surviving are a daughter, Barbara Kolman, Florida; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
A military Funeral will be at 8:30 a.m. Monday from the Lehman-Gregory Funeral Home Inc., 281 Chapel St., Swoyersville, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, Luzerne.
Interment will be in St. Ignatius Cemetery, Pringle.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. A wake service will be conducted on Sunday.
Karpowich, Adele

Adele M. Karpowich, 75, of Manhattan Street, Ashley, died Wednesday at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born July 4, 1924, in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Mildred (Williams) Snyder. She was a wrapper at the General Cigar Co., Ashley. She was a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church, N. Main St., Ashley.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter J.; son, Mark; granddaughter, Melinda; and sister, Thelma Snyder.
Surviving are her daughter, Karen Germain, Pottsville; sons , Walter A., at home; Barry D., Brodheadsville, Poconos; five grandchildren; sister, Mae Krupa, Ashley; brother, Frank Snyder, Meeker; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday from the George A. Strish, Inc. Funeral Home, 105 N. Main St., Ashley, with the Rev. Harriett Santos officiating. Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hanover Township.
KASAKIEWICZ, KATHERINE

Katherine Kasakiewicz, 95, of Division Street in Hanover Township, died Tuesday at her home.
Born Feb. 10, 1904, in Lithuania, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Elizabeth Yankauskas.
She was a member of St. Aloysius Church in Wilkes-Barre.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; son, John Casey; brothers and sisters .
Surviving are her son, Joseph Jr., Wilmington, Del.; daughters , Ruth Coveleski, Union City; Helen Kosar, Wilkes-Barre; Jean DeWees, Dallas; Albina Moskal, Wichita, Kan.; Lilly Sacco, Dallas; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held in St. Aloysius Church.
Interment was in St. Mary's Cemetery in Hanover Township.
Arrangements were by the Stegura Funeral Service.
Max Kaufer

Max Kaufer, 72, of Mockingbird Drive, Edwardsville, died Friday at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital where he was a surgical patient for the past five days.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Joseph and Gussie Bransdorf Kaufer.
He was employed as a draftsman by Luzerne County. He was previously affiliated with Kaufer brothers Grocers, Edwardsville.
He was a veteran of World War II serving as an infantryman in Europe.
He was a member of the Jewish War Veterans Irving Rutstein Post 212, the Jewish Community Center and Ohav Zedek Synagogue.
Surviving are his wife, the former Malka Fischer, at home; children, Bruce Kaufer, Greensberg; Lynn Kaufer Shaffer, Scranton; four grandchildren; sisters and brothers , Ruth Korson, Deerfield Beach, Fla.; Pearl Sandler, Bowie, Md.; Hannah Hafetz, Edwardsville; Robert Kaufer, Edwardsville; Irving Kaufer, Laflin; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. at the Rosenberg Funeral Chapel, 348 S. River St., Wilkes-Barre, with Rabbi Meir Rosenberg officiating.
Interment will be in Ohav Zedek Cemetery, Hanover Township.
Shiva will be at the family home, 106 Mockingbird Dr., Edwardsville, beginning Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and there after from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. through Thursday.
Keating, Doris

Doris M. (Campbell) Keating, 77, of North Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, died Friday in the Hospice Community Care Inpatient Unit at Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre.
Born Aug. 9, 1922, in Plains Township, she was the daughter of the late Hugh and Mary Dinan Campbell. She was a 1941 graduate of James M. Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre.
She was formerly employed in the admissions office of Wilkes-Barre General Hospital and was a long-time receptionist for Dr. W.P. Smedley, Kingston. She was a life member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Wilkes-Barre, and a member of Sacred Heart-St. John Parish Community.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, Hugh; brother, Miles Campbell; and grandson, Scott McDermott.
Surviving are her husband of 54 years, James A. Keating; daughters , Patricia Keightley, Burke, Va.; Maureen McDermott, Falls; Kathleen, Bear, Del.; sons , James P., Timothy J. and William P., all of Mountaintop; sisters , Mary Campbell and Esther Space, both of New Jersey; Edna Barrett, Wilkes-Barre; Ruth Hagan, Kingston; five grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday from McLaughlin Funeral Service, 142 S. Washington St., Wilkes-Barre, with a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church. Anna Kebles, of Anderson Street, Wilkes-Barre, died Tuesday at Little Flower Manor, Wilkes-Barre.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late George and Maria (Panyla) Katsock. She worked at Mary Macintosh Laundry. She was a member of St. Mary's Church of the Maternity, Wilkes-Barre.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George; son, George; and several brothers and sisters .
Surviving are her grandson, George Kebles Jr., with whom she resided; granddaughter, Jolene Zangardi, Olney, Md.; one great-granddaughter, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 8:45 a.m. Thursday from the Earl W. Lohman Funeral Home, 14 W. Green St., Nanticoke, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary's Church of the Maternity, 40 Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.
