PALMER JONES
Palmer Jones, 81, of Oplinger Towers in Nanticoke and formerly of Lincoln Street in Nanticoke, died Thursday at Mercy Hospital in Wilkes-Barre, where he was a patient for one day.
Born May 6, 1917 in Nanticoke, he was a son of the late Ernest and Martha Thomas Jones.
He attended Nanticoke public schools and was a 1935 graduate of Nanticoke High School.
He had been employed as an engineer and fireman by the Pennsylvania Railroad for more than 30 years.
He was an active member of St. George's Episcopal Church in Nanticoke, where he served as junior warden of the vestry. He was also active in the maintenance of the church.
He was a member of Nanticoke Lodge 541 F&AM.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Ethel B. Konabroski, in 1993; and by his brother, Walter Jones.
Surviving are his son, Palmer P. Jones, East Concord, N.H.; daughter, Jennifer Harrison, Maywood, N.J.; four grandchildren; and one niece.
A memorial service will be conducted in St. George's Episcopal Church in Nanticoke at a date to be announced.
Interment will be in Hanover Green Cemetery in Hanover Township.
Memorial donations may be made to St. George's Episcopal Church, 408 E. Main St., Nanticoke or to the SPCA on Fox Hill Road in Wilkes-Barre.
Arrangements are by the Davis-Dinelli Funeral Home, 170 E. Broad St., Nanticoke.
JONES, STELLA

Stella S. (Sarnoski) Jones, 77, of Huntsville, Lehman Township, died Monday at her home.
Born in East Benton, Lackawanna County, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Janus) Sarnoski.
She attended the Scott Township schools and was a graduate of Wyoming Seminary.
She was a resident of Huntsville for 30 years.
Before retiring, she was self-employed as a hair stylist.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer; brothers , George and John Sarnoski; and sister, Annette Connor.
Surviving are her sister, Marie Brokenshire, Dallas; and brother, Stephen Sarnoski, Eynon.
A Memorial Service will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 3, in the Richard H. Disque Funeral Home, 672 Memorial Highway, Dallas, with the Rev. John C. Lambert, of Gate of Heaven Church, officiating.
Interment will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Wilkes-Barre.
Jones, Vincent

Vincent P. Jones Jr., 78, of Green Acres Apartments, Kingston, died Friday at home.
He was a family member of St. Casimir's Church, Lyndwood section of Hanover Township.
Funeral services were at the convenience of the family from the S.J. Grontkowski Funeral Home, 530 W. Main St., Plymouth. Interment was in St. Casimir's Cemetery, Muhlenburg. SHIRLEY JONES
Shirley L. Jones, of Downing Street, Plymouth died Sunday at Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre.
Born Jan. 8, 1923, in Plymouth, she was the daughter of the late Thomas F. and Louise Davis Jones.
She was a graduate of Plymouth High School, class of 1940, and a lifelong resident of Plymouth.
She was employed by the Pennsylvania Selective Service System for 30 years.
She served as the executive secretary of the Plymouth Draft Board #93, retiring in 1973. She was also employed at the Plymouth Public Library from 1973 until 1980.
She was a member of the Plymouth United Methodist Church.
Surviving are cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday from the Williams Funeral Home, 114 W. Main St., Plymouth, with the Rev. Donald Littleton officiating.
Interment will be in Edge Hill Cemetery, West Nanticoke.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of services Wednesday.

Debra Jordan

Debra A. Jordan, 35, of Plains Township, died Thursday at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital after a lengthily illness.
Born in Plains Township, she was daughter of Peter Jordan and Beverly Reese.
She was formerly employed for Leslie Fay of Plains Township for many years, and was last employed by Warp Processing of Exeter.
She was a member of the Plains Presbyterian Church.
Surviving, in addition to her parents, are her maternal grandfather, Joseph Zambo, Plains Township; a son, Brian, at home; sisters , Vicky Bilby, Shickshinny; Lisa Strausser and Michele Dolman, both of Plains Township; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday from the Corcoran Funeral Home, 20 S. Main St., Plains Township, with the Rev. Bette Poe, pastor, officiating.
Interment will be in Memorial Shrine Park, Franklin Township.

Catherine Teresa (Sweeney) Jumper, 76, of Avoca, died Sunday at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born Nov. 13, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Martin and Margaret (Castner) Sweeney.
She was a graduate of St. Mary's School, Avoca; St. John's High School, Pittston; and the Scranton Lackawanna Jr. Business College, Scranton.
She was a member of St. Mary's Church, Avoca, and its Altar and Rosary Society.
Surviving are her husband, James Jumper, Avoca; son, James, Avoca; brother, Joseph Sweeney, Avoca; sister, Mary Gunning, Pittston; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday from the Kniffen O'Malley Funeral Home, 728 Main St., Avoca, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, Avoca.
Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Avoca.

Anna Justick, of Duryea, died Friday at the Mercy Hospital in Wilkes-Barre.
Born in Dupont, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Nellie Mycek Karkut.
She was a member of the Sacred Heart Church in Dupont and its Altar and Rosary Society.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Frank; daughter, Justine; brothers , Joseph, Austin and Edward; sisters , Frances, Rose and Mary.
Surviving are her sons , Joseph, Pittston Township; Robert, Duryea; sister, Helen Cebula, Avoca; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Monday from the Stephen M. Lokuta Funeral Home, 200 Wyoming Ave., Dupont, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Church.
Interment will be in the parish cemetery in Dupont.

Nikea Marie Kaiser, 5, of RR 1, Nescopeck, died Saturday in the emergency room of Berwick Hospital Center, following heart complications.
Born Jan. 17, 1994, in Danville, she was the daughter of Richard Kaiser, of Pond Hill, and Rhonda Smith, at home.
Surviving, in addition to her parents, are maternal grandparents, Bruce "Boots" Smith and Barbara Smith, both of Pond Hill; maternal great-grandparents, Bob and Hilda Smith, Pond Hill; Clara White , Stevensville; and paternal grandmother, Shirley Minnier, Pond Hill.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday from the Heller Funeral Home, Nescopeck, with Shirley Yolton, Pastor of St. Mark's U.C.C., Pond Hill, officiating.

Marguerite "Peggy" Kaleta, 52, of Harveys Lake in Lake Township, died Wednesday at her home after an illness.
Born in Kingston, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Marguerite (Parsons) Shaver. She resided at Harveys Lake for most of her life.
She was a 1965 graduate of Lake-Lehman High School and attended Wilkes-Barre Business College.
She was employed by Commonwealth Telephone Co. for the last 18 years.
She was a member of the Anthracite Rose Western Dance Club in Dupont.
She was preceded in death by her sisters , Virginia Shaver, Cynthia Shaver and Sue Shaver.
Surviving are her husband of 14 years, Robert S. Kaleta; son, Howard R. Grey Jr., Apple Valley, Calif.; brothers , Clarence, Groesbeck, Texas ; Richard, Dearing, Ga.; Robert, Moreno Valley, Calif.; and David, Freemansburg; three grandchildren, five nieces and one nephew.
