Theresa Furmanski, of Maltby Avenue, Swoyersville, died Thursday at the Mercy Hospice Care unit at Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre.
Born in Swoyersville, she was a daughter of the late Stephen and Anna (Adamchak) Kruzlik. She was a member of Holy Trinity Church, Swoyersville, its Altar and Rosary Society, the LPSEU Lodge, Wilkes-Barre, and was a singer for the Jack Milton Orchestra.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard; and son, Leonard.
Surviving are her son, Stephen, Plains Township; daughter, Mary Lenora, with whom she resided; three grandchildren, one great-grandchild; sisters , Mary Maslowsky, Gladys Shumack and JoAnn Kruzlik, all of Swoyersville; niece, nephew, great-niece and great-nephew.
A private funeral will be at the convenience of the family from the Lehman-Gregory Funeral Home, Inc., 281 Chapel St., Swoyersville, with a Prayer Service at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Holy Trinity Church. There will be no calling hours. Interment will be in the parish Cemetery, Swoyersville.
Fustin, Joan

Joan Fustin, 65, of Green Street, Duryea, died Wednesday.
Born in Jenkins Township, she was the daughter of the late Theodore and Jennie (Earley) Smith. She was a resident of Pittston and Duryea most of her life and was a private duty home health nurses aide for several years in that area. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Pittston; and a social member of Post 1227 Veterans of Foreign Wars, Duryea.
She was preceded in death by her brother, William Smith and sister, Gertrude Armitage.
Surviving are her husband of 25 years, Jerry L.; sons , Ellery Coolbaugh, Duryea; Kenneth and Shawn Coolbaugh, both of Pittston; daughters , Darlene Hoover, Pittston; and Joan M. Ribuado, Jenkins Township; 13 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday from the H. Merritt Hughes Funeral Home, Inc., 211 Luzerne Ave., West Pittston, with the Rev. Don Weltmer officiating. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. Interment will be in Marcy Cemetery, Duryea.
Joseph Gacha

Joseph Gacha, 81, Meshoppen Townhouses, Meshoppen, died Friday at Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre.
Born Nov. 15, 1916, in Wilkes-Barre, he was son of the late George and Barbara Stegen Gacha.
He was a 1934 graduate of Meyers High School, Wilkes-Barre.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II serving from 1944 to 1946.
He was employed by many asphalt construction companies, retiring in 1988 from State Aggregates, Lenoxville.
He was a member of St. Joachim Roman Catholic Church, Meshoppen, and the Elk Mountain Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Ann Truesdale, in 1991, and a son, Ronald Gacha, in 1946.
Surviving are a daughter, Sharon Altemost, Peoria, Ill.; sons , Joseph Gacha, Palo Alto, Calif.; Jerry Gacha and Don Gacha, both of Meshoppen; John Gacha, Kempner, Texas ; a brother, John Gacha, Cocoa Beach, Fla.; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday from the Sheldon Funeral Home, Main Street, Meshoppen, with the Rev. Patrick McDowell of St. Joachim Roman Catholic Church officiating.
Interment will be in St. Joachim Cemetery, Meshoppen.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to the time of the service on Tuesday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Coronary Care Unit of the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre.
JOSEPH GAFFNEY
Joseph J. Gaffney, 71, of Fairview Township died Wednesday at Mercy Hospital in Wilkes-Barre.
Born in Pittston, he was a son of the former Johanna Wright and the late Joseph Gaffney.
He was educated in Pittston schools.
He was a member of St. Jude's Roman Catholic Church in Mountaintop.
He was a U.S. Marine Corp veteran.
He was formerly employed by Pilot Trucking of New Jersey until retiring in 1988. He was last employed as a school bus driver for Deets Rinehimer Bus Co. in Wapwallopen for the past nine years.
He was a member of American Legion Post 0477 in Pittston; Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 283 in Kingston; the Teamsters Union, Locals 560, 641 and 701; and the China Marine Association.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Martin Gaffney, and sister, Grace Pineno.
Surviving, in addition to his mother , are his wife of 45 years, the former Doris Scottson; sons , Joseph Gaffney, Fort Worth, Texas ; Daniel Gaffney, Lake Jackson, Texas ; and Martin Gaffney, at home; daughter, Anne Marie Rose, Mountaintop; six grandchildren; sisters , Anne Gaffney, Kathryn Karvalis and Jean Stacey; and brothers , Michael Gaffney and William Gaffney.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday from the Desiderio Funeral Home, 436 South Mountain Blvd., state Route 309, Mountaintop, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Jude's Roman Catholic Church.
Interment will be in Albert Cemetery in Mountaintop.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.
Joseph Gancarcik

Joseph S. Gancarcik of Cleveland Street, Hudson section of Plains Township, died Monday in St. Luke's Hospital in Bethlehem.
Born in Hudson, he was the son of the late Michael J. and Frances S. Bonetski Gancarcik.
He was employed by Pennsylvania Power & Light Company, Allentown, for 30 years.
He served in the National Guard.
He was a member of St. John the Baptist Church, Wilkes-Barre, and a retired member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union, Allentown Local.
He was preceded in death by an infant sister.
Surviving are a son Gregory, Mountaintop; a brother, Michael, Bethlehem; a sister, Julia, Hudson; three grandchildren; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and a great-nephew.
Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Friday from the Mark V. Yanaitis Funeral Home, 55 Stark St., Plains Township, with a funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, Wilkes-Barre.
Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Plains Township.

Gardzalla, Elizabeth

Elizabeth A. "Betty" Gardzalla, of Freemont Street, Garden Village, West Pittston, died Monday.
Born in Plymouth, she was the daughter of the late Steven and Helen Gardzalla. She lived in West Pittston for the past 56 years. She attended public school in Plymouth and worked in the garment industry as a sewing machine operator.
Surviving are her niece, Felicia Pesotine, of the Harding section of Exeter Township; one great-niece, three great-nephews and one great-grandniece.
Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Thursday from the Adonizio Funeral Home Inc., 251 William St., Pittston. There will be a service at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home, with Elder George Lapchak, Jehovah's Witnesses, Dallas, officiating. Friends may call from 7 to 9 this evening.
GASHI, ANNA

Anna (Jatkowski) Gashi, 84, a former resident of West Wyoming, died Friday at the Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital in Darby.
Born in West Wyoming, she was the daughter of the late Felix and Pauline Cherish Jatkowski. She was a graduate of Wyoming High School and a former member of St. Joseph's Church in Wyoming.
She resided in Darby for the past three years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Adam; brothers , John, Joseph and Thomas Jatkowski.
Surviving are her daughter, Pauline G. Myers, Philadelphia; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday from the Frank A. Gubbiotti Funeral Home, 1030 Wyoming Ave., Exeter.
Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery in West Wyoming.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday.
A Funeral Mass will be at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday in St. Francis Country House in Darby.

Elizabeth (Dmochowski) Gates, 84, of Mack Street, Plains Township, died Saturday at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born in Plains Township, she was the daughter of the late Adolph and Rosalie (Rasimowicz) Dmochowski.
She attended the Plains Township schools and was employed at Square Apparel, Wilkes-Barre, retiring in 1977.
She was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Church, its Altar and Rosary Society and Plains Senior Citizens.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; and twin sister, Blanche Mroz.
Surviving are her daughters , Elizabeth Tkach, Plains Township; Dorothy Condo, Clifton, N.J.; Catherine Esposito, Swoyersville; brothers , Edward Mahowski, Maders Beach, Fla.; Edward "Hank" Dmochowski, Dear Born, Mich.; sisters , Ann Ream, Bay City, Mich.; Stella Savitsky, Plains Township; Josephine Vegso, Denville, N.J.; Julia Gurka, Endwell, N.Y.; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday from the Michael J. Mikelski Funeral Home, 293 S. River St., Plains Township, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at SS. Peter and Paul Church, Plains Township.
Interment will be in the parish Cemetery, Plains Township.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. The Altar and Rosary Society of SS. Peter and Paul Church will conduct a Rosary service at 2 p.m.

GEARHART, ANNETTE

Annette Gearhart, 84, of St. Petersburg, Fla., died Thursday.
She was born in Luzerne and grew up in Broadway.
She moved to St. Petersburg from Rockville, Md., in 1957.
She retired from Pinellas County Health Department where she was secretary for the director of Visiting Nursing and the director of the Health Department.
She was a member of the Friendship United Methodist Church, Clearwater, Fla., and a former member of the Clearview United Methodist Church, St. Petersburg.
Surviving are her husband of 67 years, Harold E.; daughters , Connie M. McDonald, Tarpon Springs, Fla.; and Bonnie L. Baker, Tampa, Fla.; a sister, Wanda Croop, Hunlock Creek; four grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Monday from the Friendship United Methodist Church, 2039 E. Druid Rd., Clearwater, Fla., 33515.
