Edna M. Adams Bullock, 85, of Grant Hill in Wilmot Township, died Friday at Memorial Hospital in Towanda.
Born Aug. 15, 1913, in Colley Township, she was the daughter of the late Burr C. and Pauline M. Baker Adams.
She graduated from Dushore High School, class of 1931.
She worked for Sullcraft Manufacturing Co. in Dushore for several years.
She married Charles W. Bullock Jr. on Dec. 10, 1934.
She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Ronald C. Bullock; brothers , George J. and Clarke Adams; sisters , Hazel V. Way and Rose Barrowcliff.
Surviving are her son, Richard C. Bullock, Wellesville; daughters , Dorothy Fitzgerald, Fayetteville, N.C.; Virginia Gainer, Dushore; Joan Sanderson, Sugar Run; Judy Dolde, Miami, Fla.; brother, Roy "Pete" Adams, Sciotavale; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday from the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, with the Rev. Michael B. Harris and her niece, the Rev. Joy, officiating.
Interment will be inerment will be in Colley Cemetery.

Burd, Geraldine
March 4, 2000
Geraldine M. Burd, 82, of Pond Hill, died Saturday at Butler Valley Manor.
Born Feb. 10, 1918, in Shickshinny, she was a daughter of the late Ella (Getz) McDaniels.
She attended Benton area schools.
She worked at Luzerne Outer Wear for many years, and also helped operate the family egg route.
She was a member of St. Mark's United Church of Christ, Pond Hill, where she served as a Sunday school instructor for many years, the Mountaintop Senior Citizens, and the Ladies Aide of Pond Hill.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Arthur Hilley; second husband, Alvin W. Burd; one grandson; stepson, Chester Burd; sister, Elaine Wample; and brothers , Harold, Robert and Jack McDaniels.
Surviving are her daughter, Sheila Beck, Mountaintop; son, David Hilley, Cambra; stepsons, Harry Burd, Berwick; and Wesley Burd, York; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters , Norma Carter, Shickshinny; Gloria Cragle and Shirley McDaniels, both of Mocanaqua.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Heller Funeral Home, Nescopeck, with Shirley Yolton, her pastor, and Dale H. Derr officiating.

BURKHART, ELINOR
December 3, 1999
Elinor M. Burkhart, of Wilkes-Barre died Friday in Hospice Care at Mercy Hospital in Wilkes-Barre.
Born Sept. 5, 1921, in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Vladimir and Sonya Kucharski Kray. She was a former resident of Kingston and Hanover Township.
She was a graduate of Kingston High School, class of 1939, and a graduate of the Philadelphia Banking Institute in Philadelphia.
She was a former executive secretary at Girard Trust in Philadelphia.
She was a member of St. Clement and St. Peter Episcopal Church in Wilkes-Barre.
While sailing extensively with her husband, she received the Merchant Marine Vietnam Service Medal.
Surviving are her husband, Frederick; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Mary; brother, Leon; three nephews, a cousin and dearest friend, Bonnie Wallace; and godson, Robert Wallace.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday from the Frederick & Snowdon Funeral Home, 617 Carey Ave., Wilkes-Barre, with the Rev. John Leo officiating. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery in Hanover Township.

NELL BUTCOFSKI
May 1, 1999
Nell Butcofski, of Lathrop Court, Kingston, Pa., died Saturday, May 1, 1999, at Mercy Hospital in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., after a brief illness.
Born March 2, 1910, in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Victor and Pauline Benitas Alishauskas.
She resided in the area her entire life and attended the James M. Coughlin High School. She was a member of Holy Trinity Church, 416 East South Street, Wilkes-Barre, and was a member of the Confraternity of Christian Mothers. She served as past president of the Lithuanian Women's Chub in Wilkes-Barre, and was also a member of the Rotarian Club, Plains Township, Pa.
She and her husband, Frank, celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary on Sept. 15, 1998.
She was preceded in death by her son, Dr. Frank Butcofski Jr.; grandson, Andrew O'Bosky; brothers , Walter and John Alishauskas.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, Frank, former owner of the Heights Bakery, are son, Dr. James Butcofski, Forty Fort, Pa.; daughter, Barbara O'Bosky, Red Bank, N.J.; six grandchildren, Rebecca Hoover, Judith Roccograndi, Melissa Stevens, Frank Butcofski, Kelly O'Bosky, Dr. Cynthia Butcofski Petrillo; four great-grandchildren, Gary Roccograndi, Corey Roccograndi, Jocelyn Roccograndi, Emma Hoover; brother, Joseph Alishauskas, Westland, Mich.; nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held Tuesday at 9 a.m. from the Bednarski Funeral Home, 27 Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre, with a Funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. in Holy Trinity Church, with the Rev. Theodore L. Obaza, pastor, officiating.
Interment will be in Saint Casimir's Cemetery in Muhlenburg, Pa.

BUTERA, LOUIS
December 7, 1999
Louis Butera, of Linden Street in West Pittston died Tuesday at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born Aug. 16, 1916, in Pittston, he was a son of the late Louis and Josephine (Abate) Butera. Raised in Pittston, he attended Pittston public schools.
He also lived in West Pittston for 45 years.
He owned and operated Pittston Frocks on Main Street in Pittston for 45 years.
He was a member of the Serradifalco Society.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Capitano; sisters , Josephine Callari, Pauline Sperazza, Rose Butera, Mary Butera and Patrina Butera; and brother, Samuel.
Surviving are her sons , Louis, West Palm Beach, Fla.; Joseph, Selinsgrove; and James, West Pittston; two grandchildren; and sister, Angie Avvisato, Pittston.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday from the Adonizio Funeral Home, Inc., 251 William St., Pittston, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church.
Entombment will be in the family crypt in Denison Cemetery in Swoyersville.

BUTLER, J. KATHRYN
November 13, 1999
J. Kathryn (Lunt) Butler, formerly of Oaklawn Avenue in Hanover Township, died Saturday at Hampton House in Hanover Township.
Born Aug. 22, 1904, in Williamsport, she was the daughter of the late James and Hattie Gorman Lunt.
She was a former resident of Williamsport and secretary of the S.F.L. Club of the former Douglas Presbyterian Church.
She was a member of Christ United Presbyterian Church in Hanover Township.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George; daughter, Marlene Lou; sister, Ann Schrock; brothers , Warren, James and Elwood Lunt.
Surviving are her daughter, Shirley Baloh, Hanover Township; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a nephew and several nieces.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday from the Mamary-Durkin Funeral Home, Inc., 59 Parrish St., Wilkes-Barre.
Interment will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery in Hanover Township.

Robert Butts
May 17, 1998
Robert D. Butts, of Moosic, died Sunday at the Penn State Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township.
Born in Moosic, he was the son of the late Robert and Marion Martin Butts.
He was a member of the Moosic United Methodist Church.
Before retiring, he was employed for 30 years by the Jermyn Green and Pagnotti Coal Companies as an engine operator.
He also worked as a highway inspector for the Pennsylvania Department of Highways and operated the Robert Butts Service Station in Old Forge.
He was the founder of Robert Butts Auto Parts, known today as CeeKay Auto, Moosic.
He was a charter member of the Moosic Hose Co. 1 and formerly served on the Moosic Borough Council.
He was an associate member of the VFW 8335, Avoca, and a member of the Tobyhanna Lions Club and the Tobyhanna Sportsman Club.
He and his wife, the former Hilda E. Wega, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this past March.
He was preceded in death by a brother, William; sister, Grace Whitney.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Virginia Godek, and son, Robert, both of Moosic; one grandson; five granddaughters; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; nieces and nephews
The family requests that friends and family members bring a written story about Robert Butts with them to the visitation.
The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday from the Jacob Davis Funeral Home, 813 Main St., Moosic, with the Rev. George W. Gallandorm officiating.
Interment will be at Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.

CAMERON, RSM, SISTER BERNICE
October 27, 1999
Sister Bernice Cameron, a member of the Dallas Regional Community of the sisters of Mercy of the Americas died Wednesday at Mercy Hospital in Wilkes-Barre.
Sister Bernice received the name Sister Mary Roderic at her reception into the sisters of Mercy, and later returned to her baptismal name.
Born March 19, 1934, in Astoria, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late David and Helen Barry Cameron.
She graduated from Bayside Public High School. She earned a bachelor of science in elementary education from College Misericordia in Dallas Township, and a certificate in pastoral counseling from Post Graduate Center in Manhattan, N.Y.
She entered the sisters of Mercy at Dallas in February 1953 and was received into the community in August 1953. She professed her first vows in 1955 and made her final vows in 1958.
As an elementary teacher, she taught for eight years in the Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown, and for 11 years in the Diocese of Brooklyn, N.Y., at St. Anastasia in Douglaston and St. Joseph in Babylon. She then served on the activities staff at Menorah Home and Hospital in Brooklyn, N.Y., and at Mercy Center in Dallas.
She served as director of religious education and parish ministry and as a pastoral assistant at Nativity Parish in Tunkhannock from 1987 to 1994. She served as vice president of the sisters ' Advisory Council of the Scranton Diocese. She retired to the ministry of prayer in 1996 and resided at Mercy Center since 1997.
She was preceded in death by her stepbrother, John Arbuthnot; niece, Helen; and nephew, David.
Surviving is her brother, James Cameron, of Etowah, N.C.
Transferal to Mercy Center will be at 1 p.m. Friday. A wake service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday in Blessed Sacrament Chapel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday in Blessed Sacrament Chapel.
