Mr. Gumpp was born June 22, 1926 in Slippery Rock, and was the son of Warren D. Gumpp and Myrtle Miller Gumpp. He married Joan E Klepper Gumpp April 18, 1959. He graduated from SRHS, served in the US Marine Corps from 1950 thru 1952. He worked a s amechanic supervisor for the Pa State Police from 1959 thru 1983, at which time he retired. He was a well known local organist. He was of the protestant faith, serving in churches as the church organist, seesion member, choir member, visitation committe, building and grounds and other various committees. He is survived by: His wife Three daughters : Mrs. Don (Trudy) Maffolios of Klamath Falls, Oregon, Mrs. James (Carla) Osborne fo Franklin Twp. and Mrs. Tom (Sherri) Barnett of Merisdian. Two step sons Jim Raisley of Slippery Rock and Randy Raisley of Butler, eleven grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews. One brother Gene Gumpp of Slippery Rock.

She worked at the former Critchlow Store, and then worked at the Prospect Corner Store for 24 years. Last surviving member of the John A. And Gertrude Kocher Bieber family of Lancaster Township, Butler County. Born there July 29, 1906 A retired schoolteacher, serving for 36 years as a rural teacher in one-room schools in Lancaster Township and as a remedial reading teacher in the Southwest Butler County School System, now Seneca Valley School District. During her professional career, she was a member of Alpha Sigma Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society, International , a honor society for women teachers. She attended Slippery Rock Normal School, (now Slippery Rock University of PA), Indiana State Teachers College (now Indiana University of PA) and the University of Pittsburgh. For many years she taught the Adult Sunday Church School Class at Zion Lutheran Church of Middle Lancaster, at Old Stone Church of Lancaster Township, and lastly at Emmanuel Lutheran Church at Prospect, where she was a member at her death. She was the founder and leader of a Butler County 4-H Sewing Club (Stitch and Sew) in Lancaster Township and a member of the Senior Citizens Group of Prospect. During her retirement she pursued her interest in genealogical research that resulted in four primary publications of family history: (1) Descendants of Heinrich Bieber and Anne Elizabeth Dueford, who were her paternal great, great, grandparents, who came to America in 1831 and purchased a farm in Lancaster Township (2) The Descendants of Jess Sipes Rice and Sarah Longacre Boyer, maternal great grandparents, whose parents came to Harmony, PA from Eastern PA at the time Abraham Ziegler purchased the holdings of Father Rapp in 1815 at Harmony, PA and (3) Our Roots in the Past, a research of the ancestors of both her and her husband’s families from the time they reached America, and (4)The Descendants of John Double and Jane Bryan, who were her husband’s paternal great grandparent and the pioneering settlers of the Butler County branch of the Double family at the beginning of the 19th century. At her death she was a resident of Passavant Retirement Center, Zelienople, PA, having formerly reseide at 597 Dick Road in Connoquenessing Township. She was preceded in death by her husband Russell L. Double, who died May 7, 1992, their son Robert John, who died June 24, 1953, a grandson, David Watt of New Castle, a sister Florence Boyd of West Liberty, and a brother, George Bieber of Harmony. Surviving are three daughters and one son-on-law: Edythe Rape Burger, Prospect; Thelma Watt Guntrum, Butler; Lois M. And P. Dennis Roth, of Prospect. Merle Leroy Bintrim AGE: 66 of Standford Rd, Prospect, passed away unexpectantly at Butler Memorial Hospital early Wednesday morning, August 27, 2003 He was born September 4, 1936 in Muddy Creek, and was the son of Roy and Mabel Thomas Bintrim . He was a farmer, and recently worked as a high lift operator at Cable’s Hardwood Sawmill in Portersville. He was Protestant by faith. He enjoyed gardening, flowers, butchering pigs, and going to auctions. Ralph O. “Pete” Barnett AGE: 85 of Sunnyview Home, formally of Connoquennessing Twp., passed away Wednesday evening at the Butler Memorial Hospital. He was born July 2, 1918 in Butler, and was the son of William and Arabelle Covert Barnett. . He was retired from Halstead’s Industry, and worked 30 years at PJ Osterling and Son Feedmill, Butler. He was a member of St. John’s Reformed Church of Meridian, where he was an ordained deacon, and a Sunday School Treasurer. He belonged to the Men’s Fellowship Group and the Meridian Area Retired Citizens. He was a veteran of the US Army and served in WWII. Survived by: One Daughter: Mrs Andrew (N. Ruth E. Lloyd Griffin Age: 81 of Prospect, Passed away at her residence Sunday Evening. She was born December 21, 1921 in Winfield Twp, and was the daughter of William and Stella Freehling Lloyd. Mrs. Griffin graduated from Slippery Rock Normal School in 1942 as an Elementary School Teacher. She was a teacher at Buffalo Twp. and Winfield Twp. Schools from 1944 to 1949. She was a substitute Teacher in the Butler and Slippery Rock Schools Districts from 1949 to 1960. She then taught 4th grade and was a kindergarten teacher at Portersville and Prospect Elementary Schools in the Slippery Rock School Districts until her retirement in 1979. Mrs. Griffin along with her husband owned and operated Griffin Farms in Prospect for many years, where she farmed by driving the tractors, and managed the books. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Prospect , where she was a Sunday School Teacher, and the Church Organist and Choir Director from 1981 until she retired in 2001. She also was an ordained elder for 3 years. When she was a young adult she was and active youth leader in Zion Methodist Church in Sarver. She was a member of the Prospect Women’s Club, PA Assoc. of School Retirees, and the Slippery Rock University Alumni Association. She was a Rotary “Partner” to her husband, where she was presented the Paul Harris Fellowship Award, and she was volunteered for many fundraisers. She enjoyed playing the piano at Rotary meetings she attended. Mrs. Griffin was blessed with the gift of music, she played for the Sarver Community Choir, Sarver Men’s Choir, Life Steps Geriatric’s Center, and on Sunday afternoons at Sunnyview Home she taught Bible lessons and entertained with playing hymns. She also was a piano teacher at her residence for many years. She enjoyed traveling, which included literacy Mission Trips to other countries, reading, crocheting, and crossword puzzles. Rose Marie Geidel Age: 81 of Orchard Drive, Prospect passed away Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 4, 2004, at her residence follwing an illness. She was born February 28, 1922 in Armstrong Co. and was the daughter of Othmer K. and Eleanor (Houston) Heilman. She was a former member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Manorville, where she had served on Church Council, taught Sunday School, and was active in Women’s Groups. She is now a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Prospect, where she belongs to WELCA Women’s Group. She first worked as a Math Tutor and Theme Reader for the Armstrong School District, then she worked as a secretary for the Armstrong County Agency on Aging. She belonged to Mt. Chestnut Senior Center, and enjoyed Cross Word Puzzles and Game Shows. She is survived by: Four daughters : Patricia Vagasky and her husband Alan of Prospect, with whom she made her home. MARGARET ELEANOR SAY Age: 95 Formally of Prospect, passed away Tuesday, December 30th, At Concordia Lutheran Ministries following an illness. She was born July 7, 1908 in Butler, and was the daughter of Roy R. and Margie Ramsey Say. She was a member of The Presbyterian Church of Prospect. She was a registered nurse. She graduated from the Presbyterian School of Nursing in 1930. She worked at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia, where she had received Post Graduate work for 7 years. She then worked for Dr. Mayer Santorium, and the Western Physician Hospital in Pittsburgh. She was a Private Duty Nurse in Butler Hospital and she was an afternoon Supervisor Nurse at Butler County Memorial Hospital until 1970. She belonged to the former Prospect Senior Citizens Group, and enjoyed Audio Books. CARL CLINTON DICKEY, JR Age: 83 Of Mt. Chestnut, passed away Saturday evening, Dec. 27th, at LifeCare Hospital in Pittsburgh, following an illness. He was born August 17, 1920 in Mt. Chestnut and was the son of Carl Clinton and Lila (McCandless) Dickey, Sr. He was a 1938 graduate of Butler High School, and retired in 1983 from Armco where he worked in the Accounting Department and retired as a Production Scheduler in Plant 2. He was a WWII, US Army Veteran, he served from 1941 to 1946 in Biloxi Miss. as a 1st Lieutenant. He was a life member of the Mt. Chestnut Presbyterian Church, where he served as an Elder, member of the Church Choir, and was on the committee for the new location of the Church. In the late 1950's he served on the Slippery Rock Area School District School Board. He was a member of the United Commercial Travelers and the BUCO trailer club. He enjoyed camping, gardening, and playing the organ. THOMAS “MOLE” ROBERT MCKINNIS Age: 50 of Prospect, passed away Saturday evening at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, following an illness. He was born January 23, 1953 in Butler, and was the son of Robert and Pauline Chritchlow Mckinnis. At one time, he had worked at his family business the Critchlow General Store in Prospect. He was a member of The Presbyterian Church of Prospect. He was a 32 year member of The Prospect Volunteer Fire Department, where he currently was the President and Safety Officer. In the past, he was elected many times as the Fire Chief, and the Assistant Fire Chief. He was currently the EMA (Emergency Management Agency) Coordinator for Prospect Borough and Franklin Township. He belonged to the Butler County Fire Chiefs Association where he served as Chaplain. He was a volunteer staff at the Butler County Fire School for many years. He was currently a Senator for the Jaycee’s Organization, and a Past President of the former Butler Chapter of the Jaycee’s. He belonged to the Tri-State Antique Fire Engine Assoc., the Custom Coaches Van Club of Pittsburgh, and the Street Life Car Club Assoc. of Pittsburgh. He is survived by his wife: Mary Riemenschneider McKinnis, whom he married May 30, 1998, and their two daughters : Melissa and Nicole McKinnis at home. One Sister and Brother in Law: Rev. She was born January 18, 1915, in Evans City, PA and was the daughter of Harry and Esther Elizabeth (Lutz) Walker. She was a member of the Mt. Chestnut Presbyterian Church. She was a homemaker. Survived by: Her husband: William David Horne, whom she married August 5, 1939. Two sons : William Gary Horne of Butler Robert Lee Horne of Florence KY One Grandson Three Granddaughters One Great Granddaughter and a number of nieces and nephews. She was born March 18, 1908 in Butler County and was the daughter of John A and Flora (Baker) Kummer. She had worked at Magnetics in East Butler as a book keeper. She was a member of the Portersville Presbyterian Church, the J.B. Cheeseman Sunday School Class, Ladies Missionary Society, and the Portersville Keenagers. She enjoyed reading. Helen Mae Bupp Age: 87 White stown Rd, Harmony passed away at her residence Monday morning, Oct 27, 2003 She was born June 21, 1916 in Lancaster Twp. She was the daughter of Howard W. and Anna (Stewart) Bupp. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Stone Church, where she served as treasurer for the Ladies’ Aide for many years. She belonged to the Women of the Moose in Harmony. She was a cashier at Stouffer’s Restaurant Co, in downtown Pittsburgh, and had worked as an inspector at Curtis Wright in Beaver during World War 11. She is survived by her brother, with whom she made her home, Charles “Chuck” Bupp of Harmony Two sisters : Etta Barkley of Arkansas Anna “Pearl” Phillis of Cranberry Twp. and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 4 brothers , and 1 sister. Friends of Helen Mae Bupp, who passed away Monday, October 27, 2003 will be received at the Edward L Raisley Funeral Home, 387 Main St, Prospect from 2-4 and 7-9 Wednesday.
