DELCENIA H. BROWN FARKAS
Delcenia H. Brown Farkas, 94, of Shepherd’s Choice Nursing Home of Gettysburg, and formerly of Hershey, Van Wert, OH, Dundalk, MD, and Detroit, MI, passed away Tuesday, September 21, 2004, in the home.
Born in Van Wert, OH, on June 13, 1910, she was the daughter of the late John William Brown and Princess Lena Hoghe Neel.
During World War II, Delcenia was employed in the glass factory of the Ford Motor Company, Detroit, MI. After moving to Maryland, she was an Executive Housekeeper for John Hopkins Medical Center, Baltimore, MD; and in her later years was a companion to people who were ill.
Delcenia was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hummelstown. She was a 50 year member of Order of the Eastern Star, Van Wert, OH; a member of the Women of the Moose Lodge 410, Middletown; the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 265, Hummelstown; and was a former member of the Hershey Italian Lodge.
She is survived by one daughter, Barbara B. wife of Warren O. Erhard of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; one son, G. David Thompson of Hershey. She had 8 grandchildren, 3 of which preceded her in death; and 10 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and grandchildren, she was preceded in death by a son, Gerald William “Bill” Thompson.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Inurnment will be in the Fishburn Cemetery, Derry Township.

MINERVA M. VRANICAR
Minerva M. “Fluffy” Kosutic Vranicar, 77, of Camp Hill, and formerly of Chambers Hill, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 17, 2004, in the Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill.
Born in Steelton on February 12, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Catherine Salinger Kosutic.
She was a real estate developer and co-owner of the former M & V Construction Company which built numerous housing developments on the East and West shores. She was a 1945 graduate of the former Swatara Township High School. She was a former Republican Committee Woman in Swatara Township who worked very hard on fund raising efforts for the party.
Minerva was a member of Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church, Camp Hill, and a former member of St. Catherine Laboure Church, Swatara Township, and the former St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Steelton. She was a member of the Pennsylvania Builders Association, and the Greater Harrisburg Home Builders Association. She was an avid reader, enjoyed watching classic movies and gardening. Most important, she will be remembered by her family as a devoted mother and grandmother.
Minerva was preceded in death by her husband, Martin T. Vranicar, Sr., on April 5, 2000.
She is survived by two sons , Martin T. Vranicar, Jr. of West Palm Beach, FL, and Peter F. Vranicar of Swatara Township; three daughters , Kathy R. Wentzel wife of Paul Wentzel and Darlene A. Vranicar both of Camp Hill, and Lisa M. Vranicar-Patton wife of Reed Patton of Mechanicsburg; one brother Peter F. Kosutic husband of Audrey Wee Kosutic of Arlington, VA; one sister, Dorothy Krasevic wife of Frank Krasevic of Great Falls, VA; and five grandchildren, Sam Vranicar, Sally Wentzel, Zach Sturman, Lex Farkas, and Maci Vranicar.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 23, 2004, at 10 AM in Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church, 3435 Trindle Road, Camp Hill, with The Rev. Fr. Paul C. Helwig, as celebrant. Interment will be in Churchville Cemetery, Oberlin. LAWRENCE J. DeVINE
Lawrence J. DeVine, 70, of Hummelstown, passed away on Tuesday, September 14, 2004, at his home.
Born in Harrisburg on December 8, 1933, he was the son of the late Lawrence J. DeVine, Sr., and Violet Carr Smith.
He retired as a machine operator from the former Thomas J. Lipton Company. He was an Air Force veteran having served in the
Korean War. He was a member of St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church, Hershey. Lawrence was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1687, Hummelstown; and a former member of the American Legion Post 265, Hummelstown, and the Hershey Italian Lodge. He was a former drummer for the “The Hawaiian Playboys”.
Lawrence is survived by his wife, Gloria D. Capita DeVine, whom he married November 29, 1959; one daughter, Cynthia J. Pelko wife of Mark D. Pelko; three sons , Lawrence J. DeVine, III, and Michael A. DeVine and his wife Carolina G. DeVine both of Hummelstown, and William C. Bricker of Mechanicsburg; four grandchildren, Ashley S. Bricker of Harrisburg, Kristopher R. DeVine of Enola, and Daniel O. Bricker and Tiffany M. DeVine both of Hummelstown; and one great granddaughter, Hailey Bricker of Harrisburg.
A Prayer Service will be held on Friday, September 17, 2004, at 7:15 PM in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, with The Rev. Fr. Philip G. Burger as officiant. Inurnment will be at the convenience of the family in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Lower Paxton Township. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home Friday from 5 to 7 PM. WESLEY L. GEIB
Wesley L. Geib, 69, of Halifax, passed away on Wednesday, September 8, 2004, in the Susquehanna Lutheran Village, Millersburg.
Born in Hershey on August 7, 1935, he was the son of Alma Shirk Geib Hall of Hershey and the late Roy Koons Geib.
He retired as a union sheet metal worker. He had attended Hershey High School. Wesley was a member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses Halifax Congregation. He was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 19; and the Hummelstown Shooters Club where he had won several trophies.
In addition to his mother , Wesley is survived by his wife, Dorothy E. Martin Geib with whom he would have celebrated his 35th wedding anniversary on September 14th; one daughter, Janice Geib; one step son, John K. Martin of Lebanon; one sister, Geri Hayes of Harrisburg; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2004, at 11 AM in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, with Brother George T. Lau officiating. TEMPERENCE “Becky” H. THOMAS
Temperence “Becky” Hornberger Thomas, 78, of Hummelstown, passed away, Friday, September 3, 2004, at her daughter’s residence in Hummelstown.
Born in Shamokin on July 13, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Bryan and Temperence Cooper Hornberger.
Becky was a homemaker who loved to bake and cook. She was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hummelstown.
Becky was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Thomas, on October 31, 1998.
She is survived by three daughters , Cheryl M. Parr, Bonnie L. wife of Darrel L. Wagner and Cindy L. wife of Glenn R. Monn all of Hummelstown; two brothers , Charles Hornberger of Northumberland and Albert Hornberger of Mahanoy City; one sister, Dorothy Tehansky of Hummelstown; seven grandchildren, Amy L. Parr, Brianna R. Wagner, Amber R. Monn and Courtney E. Monn all of Hummelstown, Brandi L. wife of Gregg Fasnacht of Palmyra, Robert A. Parr of California, and Brooke E. wife of Michael Ludwig of Maytown; and two great grandsons, Thomas James “T.J.” Fasnacht and Trevor L. Fasnacht both of Palmyra.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sons , Jimmy Thomas in 1951 and Randy Thomas in 1953, and two brothers , Richard Hornberger and John Hornberger.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 7, 2004, at 1 PM in Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 100 West Main Street, Hummelstown, with The Rev. Thomas E. Karge, her pastor, officiating. RUTH A. RICKER
Ruth A. Yingst Ricker, 99, of Hummelstown, passed away Tuesday, August 31, 2004, in ManorCare of Elizabethtown.
Born in Hummelstown on February 10, 1905, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Elizabeth “Sadie” Schaffer Yingst.
She was a homemaker. She had attended Thompson Institute, Swatara Township; and was a graduate of the former Hummelstown High School. She was a member of Stoverdale United Methodist Church. She enjoyed canning and crocheting.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Russell L. Ricker, Sr., on May 28, 1983, and by a son, Russell L. Ricker, Jr., on October 4, 1973.
She is survived by one son, Melvin E. “Buck” Ricker of Hummelstown; two daughters , Gloria P. wife of Donald W. Vachon of Union Deposit, and Betty R. Gagion of Cornwall; four grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 3, 2004, at 1 PM in the Stoverdale United Methodist Church, Middletown Road, Humelstown, with The Rev. JoAnn M. Darrow, officiating. Interment will be in the Stoverdale Cemetery. Friends are invited to call Friday at the church from 12 noon until time of the services.

ROBERT M. GOSHORN
Robert Malcolm Goshorn, age 92, of the Masonic Village of Elizabethtown, and formerly of Mechanicsburg, passed away Saturday, August 28, 2004, in the home.
Born in Bellwood on March 21, 1912, he was the son of the late Porter G. and Elsie Foy Goshorn. He was retired from the Mechanicsburg Naval Supply Depot, Ships Parts Control Center with 30 years of service. He was a graduate of the Bellwood Annis High School. He was a member of the former Olivett Presbyterian Church, Harrisburg. He was a life member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Harrisburg; a 50 year member of Perseverance Lodge #21, F.&A.M., Harrisburg; Past President of the Allison Hill Lions Club; and a Hershey Bears fan for more than 40 years.
Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn Etters Goshorn, on January 21, 1990.
He is survived by one daughter, Jeanne G. Lutz and son-in-law David B. Lutz of Hummelstown; five grandchildren, Jeanne Jordan of California, Kathryn Donato of Harrisburg, Dean Lutz and David K. Lutz both of Hummelstown, and John Lutz of Lancaster. Surviving also are eleven great grandchildren.
Private graveside services will be held in the Pine Hall Cemetery, State College, at the convenience of the family. There will be no viewing or visitation.

Joyce Rebecca Heilner Young, 63, of Millerstown, passed away on Wednesday, August 25, 2004, after losing her battle to cancer.
Born in Harrisburg on July 11, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Walter R. and Fannie R. Smyser Heilner.
She retired as a Clerical Supervisor for the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection; and was a former secretary for Lower Dauphin High School. Joyce was a 1959 graduate of Hershey High School. She was a member of Millerstown United Methodist Church. She was the scorekeeper for the West Fairview Dart Team. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society of Hummelstown. She loved to play bingo.
Joyce is survived by her husband of 15 years, Jerry M. Young whom she married on June 17, 1989; two daughters , Valerie J. Berdinka of Hampton Bays, NY, and Karen L. Wolfe of Hummelstown; two sons , Keith W. Tolbert of Hummelstown and Craig C. Miller of Harrisburg; two step-sons , Christopher J. Young of Marysville, and Ryan K. Young of Mechanicsburg; two brothers , Walter R. Heilner of Chandler, AZ, and Wayne R. Heilner of Harrisburg; seven grandchildren; and one great granddaughter.

Doris Fackler Seiger, 81, of Hoernerstown, passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2004, at her residence.
Born in Hoernerstown on October 30, 1922, she was the daughter of the late John and Lillian Deimler Fackler.
She retired from the Hershey Chocolate Company where she had worked in the Wrapping Department. She was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hoernerstown; and the Chocolate Workers Union Local 464.
Doris is survived by her husband of 60 years, Merle E. Seiger whom she married on January 2, 1944; one daughter, Cindy S. Shultz wife of Edwin R. Shultz, Jr. of Hummelstown; three brothers , John Fackler of Hummelstown, Paul Fackler of East Hanover Township, and Howard Fackler of Hershey; four sisters , Faye Orwin, Fannie Gingrich and Ruth Rine all of Hummelstown and Pauline Steinmeier of Harrisburg; and two granddaughters, Heather M. Shultz of Philadelphia and Stephanie M. Shultz of Hummelstown.
She was preceded in death by three brothers , Raymond Fackler, Lloyd Fackler and Charles Fackler.
