Pennsylvania Obituary and Marriage Records, 1947-2010

R. Brian Everly
BURNHAM — R. Brian Everly, 41, 432 Dry Valley Rd., Burnham, died at 3 a.m. Monday, Dec. 1, 2003 at his residence.
Born Feb. 9, 1962 in Lewistown, he was a son of Donna L. (Ritter) Zook and the late Paul R. Everly. His wife, Debra E. (Berrier) Everly, whom he married in 1982, survives.
Also surviving are children Anthony B. and Ashley M. Everly, both of Burnham; a sister, Tracy L. Bowen, Lewistown; and a grandson, Tyler Tage Everly.
He was employed by Sanyo Electronics and Bethesda Treatment Center.
He was a member of the U.S. Army Reserves.
He was a member of Parkview Church of the Brethren, a former Indian Valley Junior High Assistant Wrestling Coach and a former volunteer for Little Mingoes and Peewee football teams and Lewistown Elementary Wrestling team.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan St., Lewistown with Rev. Michael C. Manthos officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park.
Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Parkview Church of the Brethren, 990 Parcheytown Road, Lewistown, PA 17044.

William R. ‘Bill’ Leach
THOMPSONTOWN — William R. “Bill” Leach, 82, of RR1 Thompsontown, died at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003, at Perry Village, New Bloomfield.
Born Dec. 4, 1920, in Thompsontown, Juniata County, a son of the late Charles R. and Anna (Cameron) Leach. His wife, Georgina W. (Maize) Leach, whom he married Nov. 3, 1945, preceded him in death on Oct. 26, 1984.
Surviving are: a brother, C. Darwin Leach, RR1 Thompsontown and a sister, Joanne M. Shehan, RR2, McAlisterville; three nieces and two nephews.
He was a farmer all his life.
He was a member of Thompsontown United Methodist Church and was an avid hunter.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the McAlisterville Chapel of Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 16 Westfall St., McAlisterville, with Rev. Maureen Wagner officiating. Interment will be in Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Thompsontown.
Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until the service time Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be sent to the Thompsontown United Methodist Church, West Main Street, Thompsontown, PA 17094.

Jean M. Rupp

LEWISTOWN — Jean M. Rupp, 66, of 13 West Fourth St., Lewistown, passed away at 3:50 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004, at Lewistown Hospital.
She was born Sept. 26, 1938, in Harrisburg to the late James and Verna (Peters) Hertig.
She was married to Charles R. Rupp who preceded her in death on Aug. 24, 1993.
She is survived by a son, Charles R. Rupp, Jr. of N.C., and a daughter, Mrs. Timothy (Connie) Knepp of 13 West Fourth Street; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was a homemaker and a member of Light Ministries, Lewistown, Lewistown Assembly of God Church, Pleasant Acres and Mifflin-Juniata Art League.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown. Interment will be at Union Cemetery, Duncannon.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Connie Knepp, 13 West Fourth St., Lewistown, PA 17044.

Ellen E. King

MIFFLINTOWN — Ellen E. King, 85, of R.R. 4, Mifflintown, went to be with her Lord and Savior at 10:45 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004, at Brookline Manor, R.R. 1, Mifflintown.
Born April 14, 1919 in Mifflintown, Juniata County, she was a daughter of the late Herbert L. and Carrie (Bergey) Stoner. Her husband of 57 years, Melvin R. King, whom she married March 22, 1947, survives.
Also surviving are: children, Barbara Phillips and husband Patrick of Apopka, Fla., Beverly Richmond of McAlisterville, Bonnie Clark and husband Craig of Dover, Pa., Dennis King and wife Sandy of Port Royal, Ernest King and wife Pam of Mifflintown; siblings Edith Smith and William Stoner both of Mifflintown; and 12 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by grandson Byron King in 1986; son-in-law David Richmond; five brothers and two sisters .
She was a 1940 graduate of Juniata Joint High School, Mifflintown and a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Mifflintown.
She was a homemaker who enjoyed watching birds and working in her flower garden; but most of all, her greatest joy was her family.
Her funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Messiah Lutheran Church, corner of Washington Avenue and Third Street, Mifflintown with her pastor, Rev. William N. Esborn, officiating. Interment will be in Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown.
The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Friday, at the Mifflintown Chapel of Brown Funeral Homes, Inc. 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown.

D. Robert Reeder Sr.

LEWISTOWN — D. Robert Reeder Sr., 80, of 182 Fairway Place, Lewistown, died at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004 at Beverly Healthcare William Penn.
Born Jan. 30, 1924 in Ferguson Valley, he was a son of the late Harvey O. and Mary (Reisenger) Reeder. His wife, Betty (Rheam) Reeder, whom he married April 17, 1943, survives.
Also surviving are: children, Michael E. Reeder Sr. and wife Patti of Export, Pa. and D. Robert Reeder Jr. and wife Brenda of Lewistown; grandchildren, D. Robert Reeder III and wife Tara, Beth Ann White and husband William, and Michael E. Reeder Jr; and great-grandchildren, Emma and Mason White and Margo Reeder.
He was preceded in death by eight brothers and four sisters ; and granddaughter Kimberly S. Reeder Zoubir.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict.
He founded Reeder Servicenter, retiring in February 1986.
He was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Lewistown, Lewistown Lions, Burnham High School Alumni Association, Lewistown Country Club, USS Prince William Association, American Legion Post 90, and Lewistown Elks 663.
His funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 120 N. Main St., Lewistown with Rev. LeRoy Reitz officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park where VFW Post 7011 will perform military honors. The family will receive friends 6-9 p.m. Thursday, at the church.
The family will provide all flowers though memorials may be made to: St. Johns Lutheran Church Building Fund, 120 N. Main St., Lewistown, PA 17044.

J. Lee Bedelyon

McVEYTOWN — J. Lee Bedelyon, 91, of West Criswell St., McVeytown, died at 2:40 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004, at Hershey Medical Center.
Born July 15, 1913, in Lewistown, he was a son of the Late Chesti Bedelyon and was raised by his grandparents, the late Arthur and Jane Bedelyon.
His first wife, Pauline (Hafer) Bedelyon, preceded him in death. His second wife, Gladys (Miller) Gill Bedelyon, whom he married in July of 1976, survives.
Also surviving are: a son, Mickey Bedelyon and wife, Margaret, Vass, N.C.; three step-children: Connie Buck, Hummelstown, Carmen Kinser and husband Donald, Palmyra, Dale Gill and wife Robin, Granville; a brother, Robert Shuey, Baltimore, Md.; a sister, Charloette Smith, Reedsville; 11 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant brother.
He was a WW II Veteran of the U.S. Army, having served as a medic in the European Theatre.
He was employed at the American Viscose Corp., Lewistown, and later retired from J&D’s Inc., as a bus driver.
He was a member of the Spring Run Church of the Brethren, McVeytown, and the Burnham Lions Club. An avid square dancer at the Lewistown Senior Citizen Center, he was also a member of the American Folk Music Assoc. Square Dancers.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, at the Spring Run Church of the Brethren, McVeytown, with the Rev. Jerry Lee Miller and Pastor Marshall Deckard officiating. Interment will be in Church Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call from 10 a.m., until the time of service Saturday, at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to: Spring Run Church of the Brethren, P.O. Box 333, McVeytown, PA 17051.
Harshbarger Funeral Home, McVeytown, is in charge of arrangements.

Tom Lowe

MCALISTERVILLE — Tom Lowe, 42, of McAlisterville, passed away Friday, Dec. 17, 2004, in the Lewistown Hospital.
Born Feb. 8, 1962, he was the son of Wilma Bashioum Lowe of Sarasota, Fla. and William Lowe of Michigan. His wife of eight years, Stephanie A. Hicks Lowe, survives.
Tom was a narcotics agent for the Pennsylvania Attorney Generals Office. He was a graduate of Messiah College and a member of the Fraternal Order of Police.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at the Grace and Truth Bible Church, 410 Pleasant View Road, Hummelstown, with Rev. Daniel H. Norton officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
Friends are invited to call from 10 a.m. until time of service on Tuesday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Harrisburg Area, Inc., East Shore Shelter, 7790 Grayson Road, Harrisburg, PA 17111 or the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals at www.aspca.org.

John C. Gilbert

PORT ROYAL - John C. Gilbert, 66, of RR1, Port Royal and formerly of Long Branch, N.J., died at 7:45 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, 2004, at Brookline Manor, RR1 Mifflintown.
Born Nov. 11, 1938, in Long Branch, N.J., he was a son of the late John W. and Lillian D. (Graver) Gilbert. His wife, Pamela J. (Waller) Gilbert, preceded him in death on Jan. 1, 1997.
Surviving are: two sons , John T. Gilbert and wife, Gretchen L., and Bradford W. Gilbert, all of RR1 Box 473, Port Royal; one sister, Lois Taylor, Lake Wales, Fla.; and two grandchildren, Paige Horning and Cassandra Gilbert.
He was a retired carpenter having worked in general construction.
He was a former captain and life member of the Branchport Hose Fire Company, Long Branch, N.J.
Memorial services and interment will be at the convenience of the family.
Rex Funeral Home, 308 Market St., Port Royal, is in charge of the arrangements.

Harry Charles McColm

LEWISTOWN — Harry Charles McColm, 56, of 21 McClintic Ave., Lewistown, died Saturday, Dec. 18, 2004, at his home.
Born Jan. 5, 1948 in Lewistown, he was the son of Margaret (McColm) Ball of Lewistown. He was raised by his grandparents, the late Charles and Nora McColm.
He is survived by: daughter Mrs. Irvin (Tabitha L. McColm) Henschel of 27 Jury Road, Bigler, Pa.; siblings, Mike Stuck of Lewistown and Deborah Stuck of Bellefonte; and two grandchildren, Aspen and Ryanne Henschel.
He was an artillery mechanic in the U.S. Army, where he served time in Germany.
He was a retired steel worker from Bethlehem Steel.
He was methodist by faith and was second vice commander at the American Legion.
His memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, at the Hoenstine Funeral Home, Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with Rev. Jacob T. Traxler officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to the family of Mr. McColm, c/o Tabitha L. Henschel, 27 Jury Rd., Bigler, PA 16825.

Fredrick R. ‘Sam’ Medley Sr.

LEWISTOWN — Fredrick R. “Sam” Medley Sr., 82, of 116 N. Walnut St., Lewistown, died at 9 a.m. Friday, Dec. 17, 2004 at his home.
Born Nov. 6, 1922 in Lewistown, he was a son of the late George Medley and Ella (Woodling) Messerman. His wife, Ruth E. (Beatty) Medley, whom he married Nov. 1, 1943, survives.
Also surviving are: children, Frank E. Medley Sr., Fred R. Medley Jr. and Brenda L. Marker, all of Lewistown; half-brother Charles Medley and half-sister Rosemarie Clark; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: son John H. Medley on Dec. 11, 1971; brother George H. Medley and half-brother Charles Wilson.
He was an acetylene torch burner at Sitkin’s Industries, Maitland.
He was a former member of Glenwood United Mehodist Church, a life member of Lewistown Fire Police, City Hook and Ladder Fire Company, and the Forest Fire Fighters. He also was a member of Mifflin County Fire Police and the Pennsylvania Fire Police.
His funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 20, at the Hoenstine Funeral Home, Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown with Rev. Marshall Deckard officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. today, until time of service at the funeral home.
Donations may be made to the family of Mr. Medley in care of his wife, Ruth Medley, 116 N. Walnut St., Lewistown, PA 17044.
