Harold R. Minnick
LEWISTOWN — Harold R. Minnick, 88, of 71 Old Stage Coach Road, Lewistown, died at 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2007, at his residence.
Born Aug. 19, 1919, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Raymond L. and Isidora B. “Isy” (Epler) Minnick. His wife, Dorothy G. (Bomgardner) Minnick, preceded him in death on June 2, 2007.
Surviving is a sister, Doris Gregg and husband, Richard, of 59 Amy Lane, Lewistown, as well as five nephews and one niece.
He was predeceased by two sisters , Jean Miller and Helen Walker.
He worked as a mechanic, owning and operating Minnick’s Garage, in Hummelstown, for over 30 years.
He was in the U.S. Air Force in World War II, in the European Theatre, and was a member of the Hummelstown VFW Post.
His funeral will be held 11 a.m. Monday, at the Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with Pastor James H. Everly Jr. officiating.
Family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Private interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown.

James Carlton Spriggle
LAUREL, Md. — On Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2007, James Carlton Spriggle, 69, of Laurel, Md., died. He was the beloved husband of Maxine Jean Spriggle; Father of Christina Jean Parater; Father -in-law of Gregg N. Parater; grandfather of Bailey Ellin and Alexandra Lee Parater; brother of Peggy L. Hall and Phyllis A. Peters. He is also survived by other family members and friends. Private graveside service and interment in Lewistown. Arrangements by Collins Funeral Home.
Terry R. Reese
CLEARFIELD — Terry R. Reese, 63, of 82 Parker Road, Clearfield, died at 5:40 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2007, at Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Born May 29, 1944, in Burnham, he was a son of the late Detlef C. and Stella “Fern” (Snyder) Reese. His wife, Mary E. (Henry) Reese, whom he married Oct. 9, 2003, survives.
Also surviving are: sons , Scott A. Reese and wife, Carol A., of Burnham, Dr. Brad D. Reese and wife, Tracy, of Wentzville, Mo.; step-children, Lori Lansberry and husband, Jeff, of Clearfield and Larry W. O’Dell Jr. and Crystal, of Clearfield; sisters , Bettsie Harris and husband, Robert, of Plyesville, Md., Phyllis Rupert and husband, Donald, of Lewistown; brothers , Robert Reese and wife, Gloria, of McClure, and Timothy Reese, of Lewistown; grandchildren, Nathan J., Shawn M. and Alicia G., Connor C., Nolan N., Logan L. and Gabriele G. Reese, Tyler Conway, Cody Lansberry, Larry III, Jeremmy, Cheyennenicole and Aaron O’ Dell.
He was preceded in death by brothers , Detlef C. Reese Jr. and Frederick D. Reese.
He was a 1962 graduate of Chief Logan High School and was a medic in the U.S. Air Force from 1962 until 1966.
He served on the Minneapolis, Minn., police force. He was a graduate of Kansas Technical Institute with a degree in computer science and worked as a computer programmer for BNDD, Washington , D.C., EDS, Camp Hill, PA, Standard Steel, Burnham and Farmer’s Alliance Insurance Company. He was last employed as a systems program analyst for M & T Bank in Altoona.
He was an avid hunter, fisherman, ATV enthusiast and an avid NASCAR fan. He was a member of American Legion Post 0006 in Clearfield.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Home Inc., 108 First Avenue, Burnham, with Mr. Charles L. Hershberger officiating.
There will be no viewing, however, the family will receive friends from 10 a.m. Saturday until the time of service at the funeral home.
His family will provide all flowers.
H. Frederick “Fred” Shilling Jr.
CHAMBERSBURG — H. Frederick “Fred” Shilling Jr., 56, of 527 Larkspur Lane, Chambersburg, died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2007.
Born Nov. 25, 1950, in Lewistown, he was a son of Peggy Taylor Shilling, of Lewistown and the late Harry F. Shilling.
Fred Shilling was a 1968 graduate of the Lewistown High School and earned Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from Shippensburg University. He then earned his Doctorate of Education from Penn State University in 1982.
Fred Shilling began his career in education as an English teacher at the Chambersburg Area Senior High School where he also coached basketball and football. He then served as assistant principal at J. Frank Faust Junior High School, assistant principal at Chambersburg Area Senior High School and for the past 16 years as principal at Shippensburg Area Senior High School. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church of the Falling Spring, the Chambersburg Road Runners, the National Association of Secondary School Principals, the Pennsylvania Association of Secondary School Principals and the South Central Pennsylvania Chapter of Basketball Officials.
In addition to his mother , he is survived by: his wife, Jacqueline Wolfe; one daughter, Megan C. Shilling, and fiance, William M. Rappolt, of Washington , D.C.; two sisters , Andrea Wolfkiel and Lynn Curry, both of Lewistown; and a brother, David Shilling, of Hazleton.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2007, in The Presbyterian Church of the Falling Spring, 221 North Main Street, Chambersburg. The Rev. Dr. William H. Harter will officiate. There will be no visitation prior to the service. Interment will be private.

Nancy (Dunmire) Noah
PITTSBURGH — Nancy (Dunmire) Noah, 71, went to be with the Lord on Monday, Oct. 29, 2007.
She was the beloved wife of Frank Noah Jr. and the loving mother of Frank Noah III and wife, Nancy, Elizabeth Woodward and husband, Marvin and Grace Kosko and husband, Dwayne.
She also was the grandmother to Ryan and Stephanie Woodward, Andre Noah, Amanda Woodward, Samantha Kosko and Gregory Noah.
Nancy Noah was born in Oliver Township. She was the granddaughter of Roy and Jessie (Rupert) Dunmire and the daughter of Warren and Goldie (Wagner) Dunmire, originally of Oliver Township.
She was the sister of Ronald W. Dunmire, of Oliver Township, and Gary S. Dunmire and the late John L. and Glen Dunmire.
She is also survived by her nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Friday in Pittsburgh. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Edward P. Kanai Funeral Home, 500 Greenfield Avenue, Pittsburgh.
Steward E. Renninger Jr.
SMETHPORT — Steward E. Renninger Jr., 84, of Lakeview Senior Care Center, Smethport and formerly of Mifflintown, died at 3:53 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, 2007, at the center.
Born on Sept. 12, 1923, in Mifflintown, Juniata County, he was a son of the late Stewart E. and Beulah R. (Rapp) Renninger Sr. His wife of 60 years, E. Cathryn (Mason) Renninger, whom he married on March 8, 1947, survives.
In addition to his wife, his is survived by one son, James Edward Renninger and his wife, Nancy, of Gifford and two grandchildren, Jason and Rachel Renninger.
Steward was a 1941 graduate of Juniata Joint High School and a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church, both of Mifflintown. He was also a member of the Crawford-Brubaker VFW Post 5863, Mifflintown.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II, who had served in Rhineland and Central Europe.
Mr. Renninger was co-owner of E.M. Guss & sons , Mifflin.
Collecting coins and antiques contrasted his love of the outdoors, since he was an avid fisherman and hunter.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at the Brown Funeral Homes Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown, with the Rev. William N. Esborn officiating. Interment will follow in the Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery in Mifflintown.
A viewing will be held at 1 p.m. until the time of service Saturday, Nov. 3, at the funeral home.

Richard D. Aurand
MORRISDALE — Richard Dalson Aurand, 59, of Morrisdale, formerly of the Lewistown area, died Nov. 1, while hunting in the Kylertown area.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, at the Strange & Weaver Funeral Service, 171 Deer Creek Road, Morrisdale, with Rev. Karen B. Allen officiating. Interment will be at St. Agnes Cemetery in Morrisdale.
Friends will be received from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, at the funeral service.
Clair E. Wagner
MCCLURE — Clair E. Wagner, 77, of 139 Election House Lane, McClure, died at 8:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 5, 2007, at Lewistown Hospital.
Born April 7, 1930, in Decatur Township, he was the son of the late Franklin S. Wagner and Rosie (Krepps) Wagner. His wife, Phyllis M. (Snook) Wagner, preceded him in death in May 29, 2003.
He is survived by: two sons , Timothy M. Wagner, of McClure, and Matthew T. Wagner and wife, Melissa L., of Dillsburg; siblings, Myrtle Barket, of Hershey, George K. Wagner and wife, Anna Jane, of McClure, Shirley M. Grubbs and husband, Edward, of Carlisle; and three grandchildren, Jared, Justin and Janessa Wagner.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa C. Wagner, in 1960; five brothers ; and three sisters .
He was employed at Standard Steel for 37 years in the VAR Department. He was a self-employed poultry farmer.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict.
He was a member of the Bannerville Church of the Brethren. He also was in the Middleburg Masonic Lodge 619 and the United Steelworkers of America 1940.
His funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Bannerville Church of the Brethren in Bannerville, with the Rev. Liane E. Wagner and Rev. Kenneth C. Wagner officiating. Interment will be in the Bannerville Brethren Cemetery, where a graveside military service will be given by VFW Post 7011 in Lewistown.
His viewing will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Heller-Hoenstine’s Burnham Funeral Home, First Ave., Burnham, and from 10 a.m. until the time of service Friday at the church.

Dennis M. Spancake
MCALISTERVILLE — Dennis M. Spancake, 68, of R.R. 2, McAlisterville, died at 11:03 p.m., on Sunday, Nov. 4, 2007, in the emergency room of the Lewistown Hospital.
Born Dec. 14, 1938, in Pine Grove, Schuylkill County, he is the son of the late Franklin M. and Nellie (Rarick) Spancake. His wife of 48 years, Dorothy L. “Dot” (Lehr) Spancake, whom he married, on June 13, 1959, survives.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Kim Kline and her husband, Carl, Mt. Olive, N.C., Roy Spancake and his wife, Christina, Mechanicsburg, Greg Spancake and his wife, Aldina, R.R. 2, McAlisterville; one sister, Nancy Desmarias, N.H.; and four grandchildren, Sara Hubbert, Madeline “Macy” Spancake, Serina Spancake, and Eton Spancake.
One sister, Jane Aungst, preceded him in death.
He was a 1956 graduate of the Pine Grove High School, and graduated from Millersville University with a Bachelor of Science in industrial arts.
He was an industrial arts teacher for 31 years, starting his teaching career at Lehighton High School, after which he spent 29 years at East Juniata High School, until retiring in 1991. In 1965 he started the Spancake Studios, R.R. 2, McAlisterville, and retired in 1996.
Mr. Spancake was a 33 degree Mason and past Master of the Tennis Lodge 371 F&AM, Thompsontown, Harrisburg Consistory, A.A.S.R., Juniata County Chapter of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees.
Dennis Spancake was an avid outdoorsman, who loved trap shooting, fishing and photography. He enjoyed spending winters in Florida so that he could continue to shoot trap year round. With his love of the sport, he was selected to the American Trap Shooters Association as first team All American for 2005 and 2006.
He also belonged to the NRA as a life member, Elysburg Gun Club, Norry Gun Club, Hegins Gun Club, Keystone Gun Club, as well as his own Thursday night shooting group, but his greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Friday, Nov. 9, 2007, at the Brown Funeral Homes Inc., 16 Westfall St., McAlisterville. Interment will private and held at the convenience of the family.
A viewing will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, 2007, with the family present from 7 to 9 p.m. and from 10 a.m. Friday until the time of service at the funeral home. A Masonic service will be accorded at 8:45 p.m. Thursday by his fellow lodge members.

George “Elmer” Hackenberry Sr.
LEWISTOWN — George “Elmer” Hackenberry Sr., 92, of 401 E. Walnut St., Lewistown, died at 7:15 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, 2007, at his residence.
Born Feb. 22, 1915, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Charles and Carrie Getz Hackenberry. His wife, Betty Flemming, whom he married in 1938, survives.
Also surviving are: his children, George E. Hackenberry Jr. and wife, Betty D., of Lewistown, Charles W. Hackenberry and wife, Phyllis, of Lewistown, Robert L. Hackenberry, of Lewistown, Barbara Auman, of Lewistown, and Beverly Ross, of Lewistown; his siblings, Robert Hackenberry, of Lewistown, Rev. Richard Hackenberry, of Summerville, and Dorothy Hackenberry, of Lewistown; 14 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by 5 brothers .
He was employed at Sassman Oil Company and Martin Oil Company.
He served in the Calvary National Guard 104 during WWII.
He was a member of Calvary Bible Church, and he was a charter member of the Men’s Bible Class.
His funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, at Barr Funeral Home Inc., 120 Logan Street, with Rev. Howard Houtz and Rev. Richard Hackenberry officiating. A viewing will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Barr Funeral Home. Interment will be in Mount Rock Cemetery.

Loretta Gail Geissinger Leone
ANGLETON, Texas — Loretta Gail (Geissinger) Leone died Oct. 27 in her Angleton, Texas , home.
Born May 17, 1945, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Franklin and Marian (Clark) Geissinger.
She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Camillo Leone.
Also surviving are two daughters , Mona Mackin, of Boonton, N.J., and Corin Leone, of Clarksville, Ga.; two sisters , Nancy G. Massa, of Milroy, and Linda M. Geissinger, of Parsippany, N.J.; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Franklin H. Geissinger.
She graduated from Chief Logan High School in 1963.
A viewing and funeral were held Oct. 29 in Angleton. As she wished, she was cremated, and her ashes were scattered in the yard of her beautiful home on the Bar X Ranch.
Dixon Funeral Home, of Angleton, was in charge of the arrangements.
