PAULINE BIANCHI

Pauline Bianchi, 84, of Jeannette, died Saturday, April 15, 2000, in Westmoreland Manor, Hempfield Township. She was born March 7, 1916, in Madison, a daughter of the late George and Elizabeth Lambert Caviggia. She was a member of the Ascension Church, Jeannette, and its Rosary Altar Society. Prior to retirement, she was employed by Monsour Medical Center, Jeannette. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent C. Bianchi Sr., in 1975; four brothers , George, Mario, Albert and Anthony Caviggia; and two sisters , Edith Ciampa and Julia Bia. Surviving are three sons , Vincent C. Bianchi Jr. and wife, Suzie, of San Fernando Valley, Calif., Ronald R. Bianchi and wife, Katie, of Sylmar, Calif., and Alan A. Bianchi and girlfriend, Suzie Christofono, of Jeannette; a brother, John Caviggia and wife, Helen, of Derry; three sisters , Mary Frank of Coraopolis, Agnes Filia of California and Georgetta Shuey of Jeannette; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the JOHN V. GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME INC., 228 N. Second St., Jeannette, where a blessing service will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. Entombment will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park Mausoleum. The Ascension Rosary Altar Society will pray the rosary Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. in the funeral home.

GLENN F. BRISCOE

Glenn F. Briscoe, 89, of Greensburg, died Saturday, April 15, 2000, in Jeannette District Memorial Hospital. He was born Oct. 29, 1910, in Yukon, a son of the late Albert and Florence Uplinger Briscoe. Prior to retirement, he was a receiver at Westinghouse Electric. He was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Jeannette, Westinghouse Electric Veterans Association of East Pittsburgh, Masonic Lodge #601 F&AM of Irwin, and a past member of the Willowbrook Country Club, Apollo. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Briscoe. He is survived by a son, Michael and his wife, Joanne, of Irwin; a daughter, Anne Pacek of Greensburg; two grandchildren; a brother, John Briscoe of Harrison City; and a number of nieces and nephews. There will be no public visitation. Private interment will take place in the Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Hempfield Township. Arrangements by MASON-GELDER FUNERAL HOME INC., Jeannette.

MARGARET E. CREWE

Margaret E. Crewe, 72, of Long Run Road, Kiski Township RD1, died Sunday, April 16, 2000, at 12:55 p.m., after a lingering illness, in Latrobe Area Hospital. She was born Nov. 2, 1927, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of Rahlston and Helen Zankel Meyers. She had lived in Kiski Township for the last 40 years; prior to that she lived in Penn Hills and Pittsburgh. Mrs. Crewe was a homemaker; and was a member of Boiling Springs Presbyterian Church in Spring Church, Pa., where she had served as a deacon and was a member of the prayer circle. She was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed playing bingo. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel S. Crewe, in 1985; a brother, Rahlston Jr., William, and Harry Meyers. Survived by sons , Daryl A. Crewe of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Wayne A. Crewe of Kiski Township; a daughter, Linda A. Crewe of Fruita, Colo.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers , Edward Meyer of Warren and James Meyer of Kent; and two sisters , Catherine Frisch of Florida and Patricia Mattes of Pittsburgh. Friends will be received Tuesday and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the GERALD J. MEDICE FUNERAL HOME, 604 Moore Ave., North Apollo. Services from the Boiling Springs Presbyterian Church Thursday, April 20, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. David Salinger officiating. Interment South Bend Cemetery in South Bend Township. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or to the American Heart Association.

VERNA E. WESTON GARDNER

Verna E. "Pat" Weston Gardner, 81, of Pitcairn, on Saturday, April 15, 2000. Wife of the late William F. "Barney" Gardner; mother of Bonnie G. Hillier of North Irwin and the late William R. Gardner; sister of Dorothy Weston of Pitcairn; grandmother of Kimberly Tilley, Pamela Gardner, Steven, Scott, and Douglas Hillier; great-grandmother of Kyle and Dawn Tilley. Friends received Monday and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the WM. O. PEARCE FUNERAL HOME INC., 318 Wall Ave., Pitcairn, where services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m.

RAYMOND G. HRIBAL

Raymond G. Hribal, 72, of Mt. Pleasant, died Saturday, April 15, 2000, in the Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant. He was born Oct. 28, 1927, in Mt. Pleasant, a son of the late Rudolph and Louise Goetz Hribal. He was a member of the First Brethren Church of Mt. Pleasant. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Velma Snyder Hribal in 1997. He is survived by two brothers , Gilbert Hribal of Latrobe and Roland Hribal of Mt. Pleasant; and four sisters , Charlotte Hribal, Mrs. John (Nancy) Srogoncik, Bibiani Hribal, and Mrs. Donald (Laverne) Kuhn, all of Mt. Pleasant. Friends will be received at the LUTHER J. GRIMM FUNERAL HOME, Mt. Pleasant, Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home Monday at 9 p.m. with the Rev. David E. Morrison officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 400 Penn Center Blvd., Pittsburgh, PA 15221.

HARMON R. JONES

Harmon R. Jones, 91, of Bethel Park, on Saturday, April 15, 2000. A member of Brunswick (Md.) Lodge #191 and the Syria Temple. Beloved husband of Mary Ellen (Slaybaugh) Jones; Father of Robert H. Jones and Eleanor L. Wahl; brother of Viola Dunlap and the late Virginia Mattingly. Also survived by five grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the JEFFERSON MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME INC., 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pleasant Hills, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday. JOHN P. JOYCE

John P. Joyce, on Sunday, April 16, 2000. Beloved husband of Eileen Maloney Joyce. Father of Kevin, Timothy and John Joyce, Ellen O'Donovan and Patricia Birch. Brother of the late Michael and Regis Joyce and Mary McKnight. Also survived by 10 grandchildren. Friends will be received at JOHN A. FREYVOGEL SONS INC., 4900 Centre Ave. at Devonshire Street, Monday and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Wednesday. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Paul's Cathedral at 10 a.m. Mr. Joyce retired in 1992 after serving for 20 years as the elected prothonotary for Allegheny County.

ROSE LOPUSHANSKI
Rose Lopushanski, 71, of Slickville, died Saturday, April 15, 2000, in the Beverly Healthcare/Murrysville Nursing Home. She was born Sept. 25, 1928, in Slickville, a daughter of the late Anthony and Anna Yazina Nezolyk. She was a member of the Holy Ghost Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Slickville, and a member of St. Olga's Sisterhood of the church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers , John Fedison and George Fedash; and a sister, Susan Cherepko. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, John Lopushanski; two daughters , Mary Ann Musial and her husband, Ken, of Mercer and Lori L. Alcock and her husband, Eric, of Ypsilanti, Mich.; two sisters , Anna Czerpak and her husband, Andrew, of Forbes Road and Helen Bozo and her husband, John, of Slickville; a brother, Joseph Nezolyk and his wife, Martha, of Slickville; and a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Lopushanski's family will receive friends at the JOHN L. BASH FUNERAL HOME, 152 Abbe Place, Delmont, (724) 468-8381, Monday from noon to 2 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral home hours: Monday noon - 9:00 p.m. Panahyda will be held in the funeral home Monday at 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home Tuesday at 10 a.m. with her pastor, Father Robert Popichak, officiating. A graveside committal service and interment will follow in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont. Should friends desire, memorial remembrances may be made in Mrs. Rose Lopushanski's name to the Delmont Salvation Army Unit or the Holy Ghost Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

EDWARD J. METELKO

Edward J. Metelko, 87, of Penn, died Saturday, April 15, 2000, in Mt. Carmel Medical Center, Columbus, Ohio. He was born Oct. 28, 1912, in Arona, a son of the late John and Mary Rozantz Metelko. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by the former McKee Glass and the Stone Oil Co., both in Jeannette. He was a member of St. Boniface Church, Penn, and its Silver Threads; a life member and past treasurer of B.P.O.E. #486, Jeannette; a member of Knights of Columbus Council #1222, Jeannette; and a 4th Degree member of St. Vincent Assembly #918; a founding member of Penn Rod and Gun Club; and a member of the K. of C. shuffleboard league. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Maxwell Metelko in 1986; two brothers , Stanley and John Metelko; and two sisters , Emma Collins and Mildred Falk. Surviving are a son, Col. James E. Metelko, Retired, and wife, Patricia, of Elmira, N.Y., six grandchildren, David Metelko and wife, Dana, Michael Metelko and wife, Patty, Suzanne Metelko-Carman and husband, Curtis, Patty VanWert and husband, Tom, Paige Mullaney and Michael Mullaney; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. in the JOHN V. GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME INC., 228 N. Second St., Jeannette. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at noon in St. Boniface Church. Interment will follow in St. Boniface Cemetery, Hempfield Township. The Elks will hold services Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. and the K. of C. will hold services Tuesday at 7:45 p.m., both in the funeral home.

WILLIAM J. NOPPE

William J. Noppe, 77, of Greensburg, died Sunday, April 16, 2000, in the Integrated Health Services of Greater Pittsburgh, Greensburg. He was born Aug. 16, 1922, in Jackson, Mich., a son of the late Victor and Helen Dereadt Noppe. Prior to retirement, he had been employed by the Brown-Boveri Co. of South Greensburg. He was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Greensburg, the American Legion Post 981 of South Greensburg, and the Touchdown Club of Latrobe. He was also a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers , Henry and John Noppe. He is survived by his wife, Dora Jean Maltby Noppe; two sons , Michael W. and his wife, Rosemarie Noppe, and Patrick L. and his wife, Janet Noppe, all of Greensburg; two daughters , Carol J. Noppe of Greensburg and Mrs. Cathy Johnson of New Alexandria; and six grandchildren, Angela Noppe, Matt Johnson, Manden Noppe, Marissa Noppe, Adrienne Noppe and Bill Noppe. There will be no public visitation. A private family blessing service will be held in the BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 516 Stanton at Green streets, Greensburg. Private entombment with military honors provided by the American Legion Post 981 Honor Guard will follow in the St. Clair Mausoleum, Hempfield Township. The family suggests memorial contributions to Our Lady of Grace Building Fund, 1001 Mt. Pleasant Road, Greensburg, PA 15601.

MARY JANE PODKUL

Mary Jane Podkul, 78, of Penn Township, died Saturday, April 15, 2000, in Jeannette District Memorial Hospital. She was born Aug. 24, 1921, in Wall, the daughter of the late Mike and Susan Gudak Kurey. Prior to retirement, she was employed as a clerk for the Elliott Co., Jeannette. She was a member of St. Barbara Church, Harrison City. She is survived by a son, Gary and wife, Linda Podkul, of Irwin; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the JAMES E. LINDSAY FUNERAL HOME INC., Main Street, Harrison City, Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Barbara Church with the Rev. V. Paul Fitzmaurice as celebrant. Entombment will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Hempfield Township. A vigil service will be held Monday at 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home.

RONALD ROMANISHIN

Ronald Romanishin, 45, of Level Green, died Saturday, April 15, 2000. Beloved son of William "Bill" and Katherine "Kathy" (Beltram) Romanishin. Brother of Paula, William "Bill" Jr. and Richard "Rick" Romanishin. uncle of John and Robert Romanishin. Also numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. There will be no visitation. Family and friends are welcome to attend a committal service at the chapel of Good Shepherd Cemetery, Monroeville, Wednesday at noon. JOSEPHINE ROSSI

Josephine Rossi, 91, of Jeannette, died Saturday, April 15, 2000, in her home. She was born Sept. 3, 1908, in Santa Barbara, Italy, a daughter of the late Joseph and Veronica Piombino Rossi. She was a member of Ascension Church, Jeannette. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gaetano "Guy" Rossi, in 1979; a daughter, Mary Rossi; a sister, Martha Ferraiuolo; and several brothers and sisters in Italy. Surviving are a son, Francis "Frank" Rossi and wife, Martha "Penny" of Jeannette; a daughter, Veronica Rossi at home; two grandchildren, Gaetano "Guy" Rossi and wife, Sheila, and Josephine "Josie" Rossi; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the JOHN V. GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME INC., 228 N. Second St., Jeannette. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. in Ascension Church. Entombment will follow in Twin Valley Memorial Park Mausoleum, Delmont.

WALLACE PENNOCK STILZ

Wallace Pennock "Wally" Stilz, 81, of Indiana, Pa., died Saturday, April 15, 2000, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. A son of Wallace Childs and Dorothy Pennock Stilz, he was born March 16, 1919, in Germantown. Mr. Stilz was a member of the Christ Episcopal Church, where he was a former vestry member. He was a member of the Indiana Chapter of the American Red Cross, where he served as board member, former Disaster Committee chairman, chairman of the Blood Service Committee, and assistant treasurer; the Regional Blood Services Committee for the Johnstown Region of the American Red Cross; former president and board member of the General Greene chapter of the Retired Officers Association; the Marine Corps League of Greater Greensburg; life member of the National American Legion; VFW Post #1989 of Indiana; Stauton military Academy Alumni Association, where he had served as past president and board member; and had also served as president of the 11th Airborne Division Association. A graduate of Stauton military Academy in Stanton, Va., he served the U.S. 11th Airborne Division in the South Pacific during World War II. He had participated in the liberation of 2500 prisoners from Los Banos Prison Camp on Luzon in February, 1945. Mr. Stilz had received (among others) the Purple Heart and Bronze Star awards for his service to the United States. Employed as an engineer and sales manager by FMC in Homer City, he retired in 1989 after 47 years of service. Surviving are his wife, Ellen Y. Young Stilz, whom he married Jan. 1, 1944; a daughter, Susan S. Ide-Holzman and her husband, Paul, of Winnetka, Ill.; a son, Wallace Childs Stilz II and his wife, Patricia, of Geneva, Ill.; six grandchildren, Erica Monique Ide of Hollywood, Calif., Wallace Child Stilz IIl, Danielle Alicia Stilz and Patrick James Stilz, all of Geneva, Ill., Cody Alexander Holzman and Ryan Zachary Holzman of Winnetka, Ill.; and a sister, Jane Stilz Bartram of Westfield, N.J. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Daniel Jessie Stilz, in 1976; a brother, John Pennock Stilz; and an aunt, Eleanor Stilz Ruff. Friends will be received Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the BOWSER-MINICH FUNERAL HOME, 500 Ben Franklin Road South, Indiana, Pa., (724) 349-3100. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Christ Episcopal Church, Indiana, with the Rev. Father William Geiger officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the Christ Episcopal Church, 902 Philadelphia St., Indiana, PA 15701; or the American Red Cross, 728 Church St., Indiana, PA.
