Helen E. Kamzura
TOMS RIVER, N.J. — Helen E. Coder Kamzura, 85, of Toms River, passed on Wednesday, May 3, 2006 at Ocean Medical Center, Brick, N.J. Born in McVeytown, she lived in Baltimore, Md., before moving to Toms River, N.J. in 2001.
Mrs. Kamzura was a homemaker.
Her husband Daniel predeceased her in 1998.
She is survived by her three daughters , Sheila Borowski of Toms River, Hazel Keithley and Bonnie Perry, both of Baltimore, Md.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Private services to be held; Silverton Memorial Funeral Home, Toms River, N.J., is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the American Cancer Society in Mrs. Kamzura’s name would be appreciated.
Iva M. Howell
SELINSGROVE — Mrs. Iva Marie “Ivy” Howell, 86, went home to be with the Lord and Savior at 10:05 p.m. Tuesday, May 2, 2006, at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.
A funeral service will be held at noon on Saturday, May 6, 2006, at the Evangelical Methodist Church, Richfield. Interment will be in the Richfield Union Cemetery, Richfield.
Marian M. (Vaughn) Mosel
FORT MYERS, Fla. — Marian M. (Vaughn) Mosel, 85, passed away Thursday, April 20, 2006.
Born in Sandy Ridge on Nov. 30, 1920, she moved to Fort Myers, Fla., in 1956 where she lived for the past 50 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles J. Mosel Jr.; Father Andrew Vaughn and mother Sarah Crain.
Survivors include her daughter, Judy Koehn, of North Fort Myers, Fla., granddaughters, Kimberly Cantrell, of Cape Coral, Fla., Kelly Piscaric, of Charlotte, N.C. and three great-grandchildren.
Guy D. Walter
McCLURE — Guy D. Walter, 62, of McClure, passed away at his home at 8:45 a.m., April 28, 2006, after a brief illness.
He was born March 2, 1944, in Bainbridge, a son of the late Clark and Ruth Walter. His wife, Janet G. Kline, whom he married Aug. 17, 1963, survives.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Brett D. and wife Beth E. Walter, McClure; and four grandchildren, Nathan Walter, Andrew Arnold, Debbie Arnold and Beau Walter.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, McClure.
In 2003, he retired from Wal-Mart, Lewistown, after 5 and a half years in the lawn and garden department. Prior to that he had worked for the McClure Municipal Authority for several years. From 1966 to 1985, he owned and operated Guy Walter’s Excavating Service. For many years he raised Christmas Trees.
He graduated from Middleburg High School in 1962.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1962 to 1965, serving in France, Germany and Arizona.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 942, McClure, Veteran of Foreign Wars, Post 5640, Paxtonville, and the West End Sportsman’s Club, McClure, where he served as president and enjoyed target shooting. Earlier in life, he served as the Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 408, McClure. He enjoyed hunting, boating, fishing, camping and his two dogs, Dutch and Star.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, in the Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Beth Ann Stone officiating. Interment will be in the McClure Union Cemetery, where graveside military services will be provided by American Legion Post 942, McClure.
Friends may call at the Aurand Funeral Home Sunday, 316 W. Market St., Beavertown, from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday, and the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society, 1948 E. Third St., Williamsport, PA 17701.
James Robert ‘Jim’ Smith
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — James Robert “Jim” Smith, 43, of Jacksonville, Fla., formerly of Mapleton, went to be with the lord on Saturday, April 29, 2006, at the Shands Hospital, Florida.
Jim was born on March 27, 1963, in Huntingdon, the son of John N. and Carole (Lape) Harkleroad, RD 1, Mapletown, and the late James Russell Smith.
He is survived by his two children; Heather N. Smith and Dylan J. Smith, both of Mifflin. Jim is also survived by a brother and four sisters .
The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 6, at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union. Interment will be made in the Monroe Valley Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Saturday, from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.

Irene B. (Harris) Pyles
MIFFLINTOWN — Irene B. (Harris) Pyles, 78, of RR 4, Mifflintown, died at 5 a.m., Wednesday, May 3, 2006, at the home of her daughter, Virginia Haubert.
Born April 14, 1928, in Blandburg, Cambria Co., she was the daughter of the late Charles and Anna (Boyd) Hockenberry. Her first husband, Charles E. Harris, and her second husband, Kenneth Pyles, preceded her in death.
She is survived by her children, Barbara A. Yetter and husband, William, Mifflin, Helen Watts and husband, Larry, New Oxford, Virginia Haubert and husband, Robert, RR 1, McAlisterville, Charles Harris and wife, Sandy, Mifflin; one brother, Thomas Hockenberry and wife, Shirley, Hawk Run, PA; 12 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Marion Letcher, and two brothers , Jack Hockenberry and George Hockenberry.
She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Mifflin, was a life member of the ladies aux. of Crawford-Brubaker VFW Post no. 5863 and a life member of the ladies aux. of American Legion Post no. 298, both of Mifflintown.
In earlier life, she worked for Kinney Shoe Factory, Beaver Springs.
She enjoyed reading, spending time with her grandchildren and her cats.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 6, 2006, at 10:30 a.m., from Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown, with the Pastor William Muldoon officiating. Interment will follow in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Nook.
There will be no public viewing, however, family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home.

Alice A. Dean
LEWISTOWN — Alice A. Dean, 81, a resident of Beverly Healthcare-William Penn, formerly of 11 Woods Lane, Lewistown, and 121 Sparkle Drive, Reedsville, died at 9:35 a.m. Tuesday, May 2, 2006, at the nursing home.
Born May 12, 1924, in Middletown, she was a daughter of the late Joseph W. and Helen O. (Putt) Willig. Her husband, LaRue E. Dean Jr., preceded her in death on May 3, 1994.
Surviving are her children, Michael E. Dean and wife Melissa, of Painted Post, N.Y. and Mrs. Mark (Kathy J.) Dean Mansell, of 121 Sparkle Drive, Reedsville. Also surviving is a sister, Dorcas Baumbach, of Middletown; brothers , Wallace Willig, of Sun City, S.C., Harold Willig, of Middletown, Robert Willig, of Mechancisburg; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two infant brothers , an infant sister and a step-daughter, Rose Marie Dietz in 1972.
She was a graduate of Middletown High School, Harrisburg Nurses Training School and Baun’s Beauty School.
She was a US Navy veteran of World War II, having served as a nurse.
She owned and operated Dean’s Beauty Shop and she and her husband owned and operated Dean’s Janitorial Service.
She was a member of Lewistown Presbyterian Church.
There will be no public viewing, however her family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 4, 2006, at Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown.

Clair W. Pollock
REEDSVILLE — Clair W. Pollock, 80, of 30 Duchess St., Reedsville, died at 2:07 p.m. Monday, May 1, 2006, at the Emergency Room of the Lewistown Hospital.
Born Oct. 11, 1925, in Alexandria, he was the son of the late Chester Orlando and Effie Esther (Wagner) Pollock. His wife, Patricia L. (Snyder) Pollock, whom he married Feb. 3, 1947, survives.
He is survived by his children, Gary Lee Pollock and wife Mamie, of South Hills, Lewistown, Thomas C. Pollock, of North Pine Street, Lewistown, Karen Snook and husband Leonard, of Woodland Road, Reedsville; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was the last of his immediate family, having been preceded in death by a brother, Fern Pollock; a sister, Genevieve Nolte, and an infant grandson, Christ Lee Pollock on July 10, 1971.
He owned the Cloverfarm Store in Alexandria with his brother Fern from 1946 to 1957; owned the Reedsville Supermarket from 1957 to 1965; and also owned the Bel-Vue Inn at Reedsville from 1963 to 1972. He then worked from 1978 to 1986 in the utilities department at the Villa of Royal Palm Beach, Fla., and served as a Hospital Apprentice First Class in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was a 1943 graduate of Alexandria High School; a member of Lewistown Lodge No. 203, Free Accepted Masons; and he was a life member and oldest living member of the Alexandria American Legion.
Clair enjoyed spending time in Florida going to flea markets and yard sales. He watched racing and football, and he spent time in his shop doing woodworking and carpentry.
His funeral will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, May 4, 2006, at the Bohn Funeral Home, 55 N. Main St., Reedsville, with Pastor Richard J. Bender officiating. A viewing will be held an hour before the service at the Bohn Funeral Home. Interment will be in Church Hill Cemetery, Reedsville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
Kathryn Zook Herrington
BELLEVILLE — Kathryn Zook Herrington, 85, a resident of Valley View Haven, Belleville, and formerly of 608 Erie Dr., Belleville, died at 7:45 p.m. Monday, May 1, 2006, at Valley View.
Born Aug. 17, 1920, in Bakerton, she was a daughter of the late Andrew and Emma (Mortenson) Baxter. She was preceded in death by husbands, Robert W. Zook, April 26, 1959, and George R. Herrington, Oct. 22, 2004.
Surviving are children; Mrs. Ted (Carol) Zook Hepburn, of Palm Beach, Fla., Robert W. Zook and wife Jean, of Mount Union, William C. Zook, of Lewistown; stepson, Robert W. Herrington, of Lewistown. Also surviving is a sister, Mrs. Ted (Larue) Betlyon, of Lewistown; a sister-in-law, Louise Warner Knaul, of Belleville, and grandchildren, Todd Hepburn, Heidi Hepburn Getoor, both of Cincinnati, Ohio, Robert Zook III, of Newton Hamilton, Kerry Zook and Scott Zook, both of Mount Union, Sandra Lichty, of Jacksonville, Fla., and Christian Zook, of Dover, Del.; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a brother and sister.
She was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Belleville.
She was dearly loved by her children and grandchildren and will be sorely missed.
Her funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, May 4, 2006, at Valley View Haven Chapel, 4702 E. Main St., Belleville, with the Rev. Galen Sharp and Rev. Rosalie Smith officiating. Interment will be in Belleville Lutheran Cemetery.
There will be no viewing, however, the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, at Hoenstine Funeral Home Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown.

Mary L. Kenepp
McVEYTOWN — Mary L. Kenepp, 102, formerly of McVeytown RD 2, died at 11:55 p.m. Monday, May 1, 2006, at Valley View Retirement Community, Belleville.
Born April 10, 1904 in Bratton Township, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Mollie (Renninger) Grassmyer. Her husband, Jespersen D. Kenepp, preceded her in death on Sept. 6, 1944.
Surviving are two daughters ; Betty Waughtel, of East Petersburg, Louise Ditmer, of McVeytown; two sons , Edward Kenepp and wife Sara, of Milroy, Robert Kenepp and wife Jean, of McVeytown; 20 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jane Miller, on May 18, 2005; a son, Lloyd Kenepp, on Feb. 23, 2006; five brothers and two sisters .
She retired from the former Arrow Shirt Factory, Lewistown, where she had worked in the cafeteria.
She was a member of the Pine Glen Church of the Brethren and the Work and Win Sunday School class.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, at the Pine Glen Church of the Brethren with the Rev. Donald E. Peters Jr. officiating. Interment will be in Pine Glen Cemetery.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of service Friday at the church.

Helen C. Glunt
CHAMBERSBURG — Helen C. Glunt, 71, of Croghan Pike, Shade Gap, died at 7:55 p.m., Sunday, April 30, 2006 at Chambersburg Hospital.
Born Jan. 29, 1935 in Cass Twp., Huntingdon Co., she was a daughter of the late Chester and Florence (Miller) Park. She was married to Dale L. Glunt on Oct. 2, 1944 at Three Springs, by the Rev. Charles Rhodes.
Surviving are the following children; Elwood "Woody" Glunt, of Shade Gap, Sherman Glunt, of Chambersburg, Kathy White , of Lewistown, Maxine Whitsel, of RR, Shirleysburg, and Kevin Glunt,of Rockhill Furnace. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and one great-grandson. The following brothers and sisters also survive; Mary Querry, of RR1, Mapleton, Beatrice Carson, of Avalon Manor Nursing Home, Hagerstown, Md., Edwin Park, of New Castle, Del., Peggy Waite, of Mapleton, H. Jesse Park, of Mapleton, Maurice "Sonny" Park, of Newark, Del., William Park, of Orrstown, and Robert Park, of Doylesburg. One son, Duane Glunt, one brother, Chester Paul Park and one sister, Betty Stever, preceded her in death.
Mrs. Glunt was a charter member of the Shade Gap Bible Church, RD, Shade Gap, where she taught various children's Sunday School classes.
During her life she was a homemaker and babysitter.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, May 4, 2006, at the Shade Gap Bible Church, RD, Shade Gap, with the Rev. Charles Hicks and the Rev. Robert Maurer officiating. Interment will be made at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, RD, Shade Gap. Friends may call at the church 6 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday and one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
