James W. Young
LEWISTOWN - James W. Young, 40, of 103N SR4478 Lewistown, died at 2:20 a.m. Saturday, July 26, 2003.

Born March 18, 1963, in Youngstown, Ohio, he was a son of Woodrow and step-mother , Cintra Young of Cape Coral, FL, and Mary Ann Wardle of Hobbard, Ohio and the his late step- Father , David Wardle. His wife, Bonnie Moore, whom he married Feb. 2003, survives.

Also surviving are: a daughter, Katharina Young, at home; two step-children, Shane Marks, at home and Heather Marks, Littlestown; Alice Connelly and husband, Tom, Hubbard, Ohio and John and wife Paula Young, of Hubbard, Ohio, Bryan and wife, Kim Young, West Virginia, and half-sister, Marilyn Wardle, Hubbard, Ohio; two step-brothers , David Wardle, New York and Dale Wardle, Hubbard, Ohio; and one step-grandson.

He was preceded in death by a step-brother, Daniel Wardle.

He was a Maintenance Manager at Overhead Door Corp. since 1993.

He was Overhead Door's team captain for Days of Caring of the United Way. He served on the Salvation Army Advisory Board. He graduated from YSU as a Mechanical Engineer.

His funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Barr Funeral Home, Inc., 120 Logan St., Lewistown, with Captain Bonnie Purvis officiating. Interment will be in Lind Memorial Cemetery.

Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Anna E. Zeiders
MIFFLINTOWN - Anna E. Zeiders, 83, of Mifflintown RR 3 died Sunday, March 2, 2003 at Locust Grove Retirement Village, Mifflin.

Born January 20, 1920 in Saville Township, Perry Co., she was a daughter of the late George A. and Elizabeth (Comp) Bickhart. Her husband, Earl C. Zeiders, whom she married October 11, 1952, survives.

Also surviving are 3 daughters , Barbara Fultz, Granville, Deborah Brackbill, Mifflintown RR 3, and Karen Hunt, Lewistown; one sister, Rachel M. Eby, Lewistown; two brothers , Ralph Bickhart, East Providence, RI and Lloyd Bickhart, Lewistown; 8 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by infant twin sons , 2 brothers and 2 sisters , Charles Bickhart, George Bickhart, Susie Wagner and Ida McMinn, and a granddaughter, Darla Fultz.

She worked at the Viscose, the Selinsgrove Center, and retired as a seamstress from Juniata Garment. She was a member of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church and enjoyed sewing, reading and attending yard sales and flea markets.

Her service will be held at 2pm Wednesday from the Guss Funeral Home, 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown with Rev. Louise Knotts officiating. Interment will be in St. Stephen's Lutheran Cemetery, Licking Creek Valley. There will be a viewing from 1pm until the time of the services Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Friends of Locust Grove, HC 67, Mifflin PA 17058.

Judith A. Zeigler
LEBANON - Judith A. Zeigler, 60, of 753 N. 25th St., Lebanon, died Friday, March 7, 2003, at her home, after a lengthy illness.

Born Feb. 14, 1943, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Earl E. and Jean C. (Goss) Reitz. She was the wife of Walter A. Zeigler, Sr., whom she celebrated a 36th wedding anniversary with last December.

Surviving are: sons , Walter A. Zeigler, Jr., Lebanon, and Christopher E. and wife Sharon E. Zeigler, Lebanon; and several nieces and nephews.

She was a member of First Baptist Church, Lewistown and attended Kochenderfer's UM Church and Living Waters Chapel, Lebanon.

She was the secretary and bookkeeper for Zeigler Automotive, Inc.

She was an active member in the community, having served on many boards over the years, such as Lebanon County Employment of Handicapped Committee Chairperson in 1983, the Local Task Force on Mental Retardation from 1982-92, Lancaster Assoc. for Retarded Citizens, Pennsylvania Assoc. for Retarded Citizens, Advisory Committee of MH/MR 1978-99, the Family Support Services Committee representing MH/MR, United Cerebral Palsy Board of Directors 1979-85, and Friends of the Retarded.

She was a member of Cornwall-Lebanon School Board from 1983-present. She was assistant Regional Director for Lancaster-Lebanon IU area of PSBA from 2000-present. She coordinated visits of legislators and media to IU and group homes in Lebanon.

She was an advocate of Special Needs children, she once testified before the State and Federal Departments of Education on Special Education. She served as a volunteer for many organizations, including the United Cerebral Palsy Day School, Children and Youth, Victim/Witness Program. She was also a coordinator of Parent's Night Out events, she was a counselor for Lutheran Social Services parenting course, and belonged to Rutherford Institute. She was a surrogate parent for needy children in education.

Her funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Rohland Funeral Home, 5th and Cumberland Sts., Lebanon. Interment will be in Ebenezer Covenant Cemetery.

Friends may call from 1 p.m. Tuesday until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Floyd I. Zook
STRASBURG - Floyd I. Zook, 79, of N. Fulton St., Strasburg, died Palm Sunday, April 13, 2003, at Essa Flory Hospice Center, Lancaster, after suffering a stroke.

Born in Allensville, he was a son of the late Uriel S. and Kathryn Durr Zook. He was married 52 years to Elizabeth "Betty" Brubaker Zook, she survives.

Also surviving are: a daughter, Lois Ann and husband J. Lemar Mast, Morgantown; four sons , Duane and wife Genie Wills Zook, Plano, TX, Ronald and wife Judy Garber Zook, New Holland, Larry and wife Dawn Root Zook, Manheim, and Robert and wife Ethel Yoder Zook, Lancaster; two brothers , Lester of Belleville, and Merle of Lakewood, CO; and 11 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by seven brothers and two sisters .

He was formerly of Big Valley, Mifflin County. He taught science at Belleville Mennonite School, Anne Arundel Sr. High School, Lewistown Sr. High School, and Lancaster Mennonite School, before working as a DHIA Supervisor.

He graduated from Eastern Mennonite High School, Harrisonburg, VA, from Eastern Mennonite College and he received his Masters of Science from Penn State University.

He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Mennonite Church, where he served as a Sunday School teacher and superintendent.

He was a member of Mifflin County Mennonite Historical Society and Lancaster Mennonite Historical Society.

A viewing will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9:30 a.m. until the service time Wednesday at Paradise Mennonite Church, 148 S. Singer Ave., Paradise, His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church with Bishop Richard L. Buckwalter and Bishop Mark M. Leaman officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Pleasant Mennonite Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to: Mt. Pleasant Mennonite Church, P.O. Box 127, Paradise, PA 17562-0127 or to Hospice of Lancaster County, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125.

Ralph E. Bowersox

McCLURE — Ralph E. Bowersox, 82, of 4049 Old Stage Road, McClure, died at 11:25 p.m. Wednesday, July 5, 2006, at the Ohesson Manor Nursing Home.

Born Nov. 9, 1923, in Decatur Township, he was the son of the late Harry J. and Effie (Romig) Bowersox. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys J. (Krick) Bowersox on May 1, 2005.

He is survived by his daughters , Carol A. Henry and husband, Herbert, of McClure, and Sandra K. Swartzell and husband Robert, of Reedsville; grandchildren, Brian and Todd Henry and Andrew and Kevin Swartzell; two great-granddaughters, Lauren and Lindsey Henry; brothers and sister, Clair Bowersox, Enola, Harry Bowersox Jr. and wife Evelyn, Pottstown, Paul Bowersox, Hollidaysburg, Archie Bowersox and wife Gloria, Lewistown and Gladys Weader, McClure.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Bowersox and a sister, Mildred Bickel.

Early in life he was employed at Standard Steel in Burnham for seven years; later, he worked for Robert Palm as a contractor for 10 years and then returned to Standard Steel for 23 years, retiring in 1985.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran, having served during World War II.

He was a member of the Wagner United Methodist Church and was a life member of the Decatur Fire Co.

His funeral will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Heller-Hoenstine Burnham Funeral Home, 108 First Ave., Burnham, with the Rev. D. Gregory Lake officiating. Interment will be in Wagner Cemetery, McClure. Family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

Family will provide all flowers; memorial contributions can be made to Wagner United Methodist Church, 6280 U.S. Highway 522 N., Lewistown, PA 17044 and Hospice, The Bridge, 400 Highland Ave., 2nd Floor, Lewistown, PA 17044.

Kathleen C. Pennepacker

LEWISTOWN — Kathleen C. Pennepacker, 88, of Lewistown and Harrisburg, died on July 5, 2006. She was born on Feb. 5, 1918, a daughter of Leslie C. and Sadie R. Bailey.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Pennepacker, her parents, three sisters and two brothers .

She is survived by two daughters , Judy Pennepacker, and Kathy P. Martofel, both of Harrisburg. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews, including Beverly (Crownover) Weaver, of Palmyra and Constance Lilley, of Hummelstown.

She graduated from Lewistown High School and Central Penn Business School, Harrisburg. She was employed as the Secretary of First United Methodist Church, Lewistown, for over 30 years.

Interment will be at the family’s convenience.

Memorial donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 200 E. Third St., Lewistown, PA 17044.

Dorothy M. Kauffman

MIFFLINTOWN—Dorothy M. Kauffman, 95, formerly of Mifflintown RR 3, died at 11:35 p.m. Wednesday, July 5, 2006, at The Bridges at Brookline, Mifflintown.

Born June 15, 1911, in Altoona, she was a daughter of the late Herman M. and H. Maude (Suloff) Houtz. Her husband, Maxwell S. “Jack” Kauffman, died May 15, 1989.

She is survived by one son, John H. Kauffman and wife Tena, of RR 1 Mifflintown; one daughter, Patricia A. Kauffman, of Harrisburg; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Jacob T. Kauffman; three brothers and two sisters .

She was a farm wife. She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Mifflintown. She crocheted avidly and enjoyed reading.

Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Guss Funeral Home, 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown, with Rev. Dr. Howard Houtz officiating. Interment will be in St. Stephen’s Lutheran Cemetery, Licking Creek Valley.

There will be a viewing Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Messiah Lutheran Church, 3 S. Third St., Mifflintown, PA 17059.

Cougar J. Bustillo

LEWISTOWN — Cougar J. Bustillo, stillborn infant, 425 Logan St., Lewistown, died at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 10, 2006, at the Lewistown Hospital.

He was the son of Efrain and Mindy (Strunk) Bustillo of Lewistown.

He is survived by a brother, LLelson Bustillo, at home; paternal grandparents Efrain and Maria Hernandez, of Honduras; maternal grandparents William Burris and Tina (Dann) Strunk of Lewistown; maternal great-grandparents Linda Burris of Lewistown and William C. and Barbara G. Dann, of Avis.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown.

Lillian D. Shunk

BELLEVILLE — Lillian D. Shunk, 88, of Valley View, Belleville, and formerly of Reedsville, died at 11:55 p.m. Wednesday, May 10, 2006, at the Lewistown Hospital.

Born Jan. 8, 1918, in Ellwood City, she was a daughter of the late George Earl Eichenberger and Dorothy Irene (Emerick) Aurand.

She was married to James Melvin Shunk, who died March 13, 1986. Her first husband, Luther W. Heimbaugh, died in 1985.

She is survived by a daughter, Jeanne (Heimbaugh) Lemmon, of Milroy; and a granddaughter, Mrs. James (Ronde J.) Dalton, of Reedsville.

She was a 1934 graduate of Milroy High School and a 1938 graduate of Harrisburg Secretarial School.

She was a secretary and court reporter in Mifflin County. She was Judge Lehman’s private secretary, legal librarian and civil defense secretary, and also worked in the Philadelphia and Huntingdon courts. She was a secretary for many other lawyers.

She was a member of the Senior Citizens Writing Guild, the Society of Decorative Painters and the Shikellamy Craft Guild. She loved to paint, write books and read.

She volunteered for the Lewistown Hospital, During World War II, she volunteered for the Red Cross.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 13, at Bohn Funeral Home, Reedsville. The Rev. Kenneth Longfield will officiate. The viewing begins one our before the funeral service. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Huntingdon Humane Society, 11371 School House Hollow Road, Huntingdon, PA 16652.

William O. Brumbaugh

BLUEFIELD, W.Va. — William O. Brumbaugh, 83, of Bluefield, and formerly of 926 W. Fifth St., Lewistown, Pa., died at 9 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, 2006, at Bluefield Regional Hospital.

Born July 6, 1922, in Saxton, Pa., he was a son of the late Owen Oscar and Martha Jane (Heister) Brumbaugh. His wife, Rose Mary (Marrone) Brumbaugh, survives. His first wife, Connie R. Brumbaugh, preceded him in death.

Surviving are children David Brumbaugh, of Denver, Colo., Craig Brumbaugh, of Dover, Del., Evelyn Coder of Mapleton Depot; stepchildren Ronald Ciccolini of Bluefield and Rosemary Leidy of Philadelphia. Also surviving are brothers Martin Brumbaugh, of Hickery, N.C., Bruce Brumbaugh, of McVeytown; a sister, Lois Dunmire, of McVeytown; eleven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He retired from Weis Markets in 1982 with 30 years of service. Prior to that he was employed by the Huntingdon Broadtop Railroad.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, having served from 1942 until 1945.

He was a member of Mount Union Baptist Church and Lewistown Lodge No. 203 F&AM.

His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 15, at Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with the Rev. David Ford officiating. Interment will be in Mount Union Cemetery.

His family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. A Masonic service will be held at 8:45.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
