Forrest E. Sweitzer
LEWISTOWN - Forrest E. Sweitzer, 75, of Loop Road, Lewistown, died at 1:35 p.m. Monday, July 28, 2003, at Brookline Manor, Mifflintown.
Born July 20, 1928, in Bellefonte, he was a son of the late William and Nannil (Myers) Sweitzer. His wife, Audrey L. Worthington, whom he married 1967, survives.
Also surviving are: a daughter, Tammy Beachel, Laurelton; two grandchildren, Nicole and Joshua.
He was preceded in death by two brothers , Paul and Bill and two sisters , Helen and Ethel.
He worked at Otis Elevator Company, as an installer, retiring in 1990.
He served in the U.S. Army during the
Korean War.
He was an avid sports fan. He loved his grandchildren, NASCAR races and the TV show "The Price is Right".
His funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan St., Lewistown, with Rev. John Walters officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park. Graveside military services by VFW Post 7011, Lewistown.

Hazel E. Sweitzer
REEDSVILLE - Hazel E. Sweitzer, 84, of 220 E. Logan St., Reedsville, died at 6:40 a.m. Friday, April 4, 2003, at the Malta Home, Granville.
Born Feb. 17, 1919, in Reedsville, she was a daughter of the late John Charles and Carrie E. (Ripka) Royer. Her husband, James Robert Sweitzer, preceded her in death on Jan. 14, 1975.
Surviving is her son, Richard L. McElhoe of Reedsville.
She was the last of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by five brothers , William F. Royer, Robert L. Royer, Charles Royer, Edward Jacob Royer and John L. Royer, and two sisters , Dorothy McElhoe and Mildred Vanditta.
She was a Lutheran by faith.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Church Hill Cemetery, Reedsville, with Rev. Kenneth Longfield officiating.

Genevieve M. Swyers
LEWISTOWN - Genevieve M. Swyers, 95, formerly of Lewistown, died at 7:40 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2003, at Inova Fairfax Hospital, VA.
Born Dec. 29, 1907, in Altoona, she was a daughter of the late John J. and Grace (Irvin) Moran. Her husband, Stinson R. "Bucky" Swyers, preceded her in death in 1999.
Surviving are: children, John Swyers, Mansfield, MA, Richard Swyers, Ottsvilles, Michael Swyers, Clemons, NC, Genevieve Swyers, Falls Church, VA and Mary Grace Dorsey, Arlington, VA; sisters , Muriel Jackson, Altoona and Mary Louise Stapleton, Fairfax, VA; 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters .
A graduate of Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, she had been head nurse at Rutgers University Main Campus and a private duty registered nurse. She had also worked at FMC and the Mifflin County Home.
She had her pilot's license.
She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church, Lewistown, with Father John Schmalhofer officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park.
Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Sunday, at the Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan St., Lewistown, where there will be a Scripture reading at 7:30 p.m.
Mildred Kay Taylor
QUINCY - Mildred Kay Taylor, 80, a resident of Quincy United Methodist Home, Quincy, formerly of 127 Cameo Drive, Fayetteville and Airport Road, Chambersburg, died Wednesday afternoon Jan. 15, 2003, in Waynesboro Hospital.
Born April 22, 1922, in Milroy, she was a daughter of the late Willis B. and Margaretta (Rothrock) Treaster. Her husband, Henry J. Taylor, whom she married Dec. 24, 1944, preceded her in death Aug. 21, 2001.
Surviving are: a daughter, Connie K. and husband Ralph M. Smith, Scotland; a step granddaughter, Barbara Ann Snively, Chambersburg; a sister, Shirley and husband Harold Spigelmyer, Reedsville; and three step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters , Betty Ann Reed and Dorine Schilling.
She was a 1940 graduate of the former Milroy High School, she then attended Thompson Business School, Harrisburg.
She retired from the Bon-Ton, Chambersburg where she had worked in the office and on the floor as a salesperson. Previously she worked at the former FW Woolworth store in downtown Chambersburg until its closing.
She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, Chambersburg, for over forty years. She was also a member of Mizpah Sunday School Class and the Chambersburg Mall Walkers.
Her funeral service will be held at noon Saturday at the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg with Rev. Dr. A. Robert Cook officiating. Interment will be in Norland Cemetery, Chambersburg.
The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service.

Mary A. Tedeschi
BELLEVILLE - Mary A. Tedeschi, 97, of Valley View Haven, Belleville and formerly of Altoona died Sept. 8, 2003, of an extended illness at the home.
Born Dec. 1, 1905 in Altoona, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Dolores (Panetti) Santella.
She is preceded in death by her husband, James V. Tedeschi whom she married Sept. 10, 1925. He died Oct. 8, 1990.
She is survived by two sons , John V. Tedeschi of Belleville; and James R. Tedeschi of Lancaster; four sisters , Carmen Vitelli, Kansas City, MO; Ann Dublin, Altoona; Edith Tedeschi, Philadelphia; Josephine Burrington, Cleveland, OH; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters , Ruth Detrich and Fannie Picanza; three brothers , Daniel, Anthony and James Santella, and two granddaughters, Theresa and Diane Tedeschi.
She was a graduate of Altoona High School. Prior to her marriage she was employed at Gobles Department Store.
She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. She enjoyed cooking, needle craft and reading.
A funeral mass will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Friends will be received from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the Santella Funeral home, Altoona. Committal will be held at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona.

Wayne R. 'Pud' Thompson
PORT ROYAL - Wayne R. "Pud" Thompson, 75, of Port Royal, died Wednesday, July 2, 2003, at Brookline Manor, Mifflintown.
Surviving are: two step-sons , Harry D. Eby, Elizabethtown, KY and Melvin L. Eby, Lewistown; a daughter, Wendy Brown, Port Royal; a step-daughter, Janie Ranck, Mexico; a sister, Doris Gill, Mexico; ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Leonora Eby Thompson, three brothers , Lawrence, Ray and Jay, and two sisters , Sara Yorks and Nellie Jones.
He was a native of Mexico, PA, a member of Mexico United Methodist Church.
He was an Army Veteran. He was a retired brick mason.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Locust Run Cemetery.
Central Pennsylvania Cremation Society, Harrisburg, is in charge of arrangements.
William A. Trackim Sr.
MAHANOY CITY - William A. Trackim Sr., 62, of 1031 E. Pine St., Mahanoy City, died Sunday afternoon April 13, 2003, at home.
Surviving are: his wife of 40 years, the former Joan Uritis; a daughter, Mrs. Jeffrey (Catherine) Michaels, Reedsville; a son, William Trackim, Jr., Newtown, CT; three brothers , Francis of Barnesville, Leon of Landsdale and Gerald of Burlington, VT; four grandchildren, Aaron, Jared, Talia, and Andrew; and nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday from the David D. Jarrett Funeral Home, 2nd and Pine Sts., Mahanoy City.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, Mahanoy City. Interment will be in Sky View Memorial Park, Hometown.

BURNHAM - Sylvia I. Treaster, 92, a resident of Nipple Convalescent Home, Liverpool, formerly of Burnham, died at 4:50 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, 2003, at the nursing home.
Born Aug. 5, 1910, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin F. and Lena (Carolus) Hubler. Her husband, Landis William Treaster, died in 1994.
Surviving are: twelve children, Mary M. Narehood, Reedsville, Shirley M. Richard, Lewistown, Betty J. Fuhrman, Selinsgrove, Virginia H. Shannon, Burnham, James E. Treaster, Mifflintown, William L. Treaster, McClure, Inez L. McKnight, Reedsville, Paul E. Treaster, Sunbury, Charles H. Treaster, Lewistown, Barbara J. Witmer, Dauphin, Glenn F. Treaster, Lewistown, and Samuel W. Hubler, Burnham; a sister, Mary Jackson, Lewistown; 50 grandchildren and 72 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two daughters , Alma A. Lee and Gertrude Dull; and two sisters , Madaline Weaver and Maxine Wilt.
She was a homemaker.
Her funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Walnut St., United Methodist Church, Burnham, with Rev. Larry K. Lutz officiating. Interment will be in Church Hill Cemetery, Reedsville.

Elliott M. Treese
HOLLIDAYSBURG - Elliott M. Treese, 87, of 811 Amelia Street, Hollidaysburg, died March 22, 2003 at Bon Secours Holy Family Hospital Altoona.
Born July 28, 1915 in Hollidaysburg, son of the late Ralph E. and Ethel Decker Treese. He married Virginia Allen of Reedsville March 14, 1941.
Mr. Treese graduated from Hollidaysburg High School in 1934 and from Penn State University in 1939 where he was the president and student leader of the Penn State Blue Band.
Mr. Treese organized the Reedsville School band in 1939 and taught there during the school years of 1940 and 1941. He moved to Hollidaysburg in 1941 and spent 1943-45 as S/Sgt. in the US Army Air Force. He returned to Hollidaysburg in 1945 where he served as band director and head of the Music Department for 35 years.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia, a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Jay Dell, two grandchildren, and two great granddaughters.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, March 26. Internment was at Alto Rest Cemetery.
Margery L. Treece
BELLEVILLE - Margery L. Treece, 70, of 72 Mechanics St., Belleville, died at 1:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 12, 2003, in the Lewistown Hospital emergency room.
Born April 28, 1933, in Dry Valley, Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Amanda E. (Wilson) and Bruce A. Kauffman. Her husband, William E. Treece, whom she married on Oct. 6, 1956, survives.
Also surviving are: a son, Kirby L. Treece and fiance Michele Warner, Etters; siblings Bruce E. Kauffman, Belleville, Mrs. Kenneth (Kathy) Shank, Milroy, and Mrs. Harry (Sharon) Spickler, Belleville.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Donald L. Kauffman, who died on July 3, 1989.
She was a former telephone operator for United Telephone in Belleville and a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Belleville.
She was a homemaker for 47 years and provided a happy home for her husband and son. She was an inspiration to her family, loved ones, and friends. She loved her pets and enjoyed watching birds and wildlife. Of all the places she lived, she loved Belleville the most.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 15, at Watts Memorial United Methodist Church, Belleville, with Rev. Larry Siikanen officiating. Interment will be at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery.

Charles F. 'Popeye' Troup Jr.
BURNHAM - Charles F. "Popeye" Troup Jr., 67, of 407 S. Walnut St., Burnham, died at 10 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 9, 2003, at Centre Community Hospital, State College.
Born Sept. 1, 1935, in Middlecreek, he was a son of the late Charles F. Sr. and Dorothy (Aumiller) Troup. His wife, Carol (Spaid) Troup, whom he married May 1, 1965, survives.
Also surviving are: three daughters , Mrs. Kenneth (Denise) Cramer, Harrisburg, Michelle L. Troup, Lewistown, and Mrs. R. Eric (Jennifer) Stuter, Burnham; two sisters and a brother, Mrs. Lewis (Shirley) Haines, Beaver Springs, David Troup, Fredricksburg, and Linda Troup, Beaver Springs; and four grandchildren, David Cramer, Ashley Cramer, Chelsea Stuter, and Aaron Stuter.
He was a laborer at Standard Steel for 33 1/2 years, retiring in 1997.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1958-60.
He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Beaver Springs, and U.S.W.A. Local 1940.
His funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. There will be no public viewing.
