Anne M. (Earnestie) Rush, 75, of Connellsville, died Friday, April 14, 2000, at Highlands Hospital, Connellsville. She was born Sept. 11, 1924, in Buffington, Pa., a daughter of the late Matthew Earnestie and Helen (McGurgon) Earnestie. She was a lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Connellsville. Anne was also an avid bowler and a member of the Ms-Fits Bowling Team. She is survived by nine children: a daughter, Mrs. Helen Bageant and husband, James, of Connellsville, a son, Mr. Robert M. Rush and wife, Barbara, of Connellsville, a daughter, Mrs. Winnie McCandless and husband, Randy, of Florida, a daughter, Mrs. Kathy Martin and husband, William, of McClellandtown, a son, Mr. Richard C. Rush of Oklahoma , a daughter, Mrs. Sue Butler and husband, Pat, of Georgia, a son, Mr. Raymond P. Rush and wife, Barbara, of Uniontown, a son, Mr. Ronald R. Rush and wife, Loretta, of Uniontown, and a son, Mr. Roger P. Rush and wife, Darlene, of Connellsville: two grandchildren, Ann and John Reese of Blairsville; also 21 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters , Geraldine Wells and Alice Nicklow, both of California; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard P. Rush (1996); a daughter, Maureen Reese; a grandson, Richard Rush Jr.; five sisters , Elizabeth Rekrut, Marguerite Moore, Evelyn Taylor, Dorothy Lewis and Theresa Hammond; and a brother, Harry Earnestie. Friends will be received Sunday from noon to 9 p.m. in the PAUL G. FINK FUNERAL HOME INC., 418 N. Pittsburgh St., Connellsville, where a blessing service will be held Monday at 11:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at noon in Immaculate Conception Church with the Rev. Ruby C. (Rice) Ryan, 76, of Turtle Creek, at home, Friday, April 14, 2000. Beloved wife of the late John J. "Rusty" Ryan. Loving mother of Sharon Yesko of Turtle Creek, Joann Snider of Turtle Creek, Robert of Chatham, N.J., and Michael Ryan of Turtle Creek. Seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Max Semak, of Pleasant Hills, on Wednesday, April 12, 2000. He was a member of the VFW Post 5012 and the American Legion Post 490. He was a World War II U.S. Army corporal, a survivor of the Pearl Harbor bombing and served in both the Pacific and European theaters of operations. Beloved husband of the late Virginia F. (Dugan) Semak. Beloved son of the late Peter I. and Josephine (Lanska) Semak. Beloved brother of Anne and Julie Semak of Pittsburgh, Ted Semak of New Sewickley Township, Joseph Sr. of Ramona, Calif., and the late Peter Jr., John, Alex and Elizabeth Semak. Beloved uncle of seven nephews and three nieces; three grandnieces; and a grandnephew. Catherine B. Sherwin, 79, of Mt. Pleasant (East Huntingdon Township), died Friday, April 14, 2000, in Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. She was born March 23, 1921, in Irwin, a daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Dunlop Boyd. She was the co-owner of Sherwin Antiques and Collectibles. She was a graduate of Irwin High School. Katherine was a member of the United Methodist Church of Mt. Pleasant, United Methodist Women, R.U.B.O. Sunday School Class and Pennsylvania Antique Association. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry W. Sherwin Jr., in 1982; two brothers , Hugh and William Boyd; and three sisters , Grace Brown, Isabella Trombetta and Elizabeth Brady. She is survived by two sons , Gary W. Sherwin and wife, Cynthia, of Yukon and Dean Scot Sherwin at home; a daughter, Linda C. Blystone of Scottdale; four grandchildren, Matthew and Stephen Sherwin and Myia and Joy Blystone; two sisters , Jane Bishop of Irwin and Mary Strickler and husband, Robert, of Newport News, Va.; three sisters -in-law, Elma Boyd of Greensburg, Edie Boyd of Irwin and Isabella Melchreit of North Royalton, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews. JANE ROMBACH SMITH
Jane Rombach Smith, 35, of McCandless Township, died Thursday, April 13, 2000, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born in Pittsburgh, Nov. 6, 1964, she was a daughter of Ronald R. and Francine Putz Rombach of McCandless Township. Mrs. Smith was an active member of the North Hills Jaycees and a volunteer for the Western Pennsylvania Special Olympics. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, David C. Smith; a son, Charles A. Smith; two brothers , Scott A. Rombach of Glen Burnie, Md., and Richard R. Rombach of McCandless Township; a sister, Judi Amitrano of Glen Burnie, Md.; and maternal grandmother, Mary Putz of Avalon. DR. JAMES N. STANTON JR.
Dr. James N. Stanton Jr., 89, formerly of Point Breeze, died Thursday, April 13, 2000, in Naples, Fla. He was born in Oakland, the son of the late James N. and Eleanor Hayes Stanton. He was a retired OB-GYN and former medical director of Western Pennsylvania Hospital. A graduate of Haverford College and the University of Pennsylvania , he served honorably in World War II, entering the U.S. Army in 1943 as a captain in the West Penn Hospital Unit. He was relieved of duty in 1946, having served in medical units in Britain, and as staff physician for the Irving Berlin show, "This is the Army." Dr. Stanton retired from private practice in 1972, but remained a hospital director until 1977. A friend to all who met him, he will be well remembered for his charm and easy smile. He was an avid gardener with a zest for life. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jane; and by his beloved wife of 57 years, Jane Phillips Stanton. He is survived by two sons , James Stanton of Wilkinsburg and William Stanton of Naples, Fla.; a daughter, Eleanor of Point Breeze; and three grandchildren, Todd Gutnick of Hoboken, N.J., Laura Gutnick of Squirrel Hill and Jimmy Stanton of Naples, Fla. Interment will be private.
EDNA P. STEVENSON
Edna P. "Nana" Stevenson, 72, of Bloomingdale, Ga., and a former longtime resident of Greensburg, died Thursday, April 13, 2000. Born in Forbes Road, Pa., she was a homemaker and a member of the Order of Eastern Star and the New Testament Baptist Church of Pooler, Ga. Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Cliff of Bloomingdale, Ga.; two daughters , Diana L. Miller of Bloomingdale, Ga., and Donna L. Steele of Jeannette; two sisters , Margaret Semenko of Forbes Road and Linda Barrick of West Seneca, N.Y.; a brother, Donald Robosky of Greensburg; four grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Edna (Altman) Robosky; four brothers , John, William, Ronald and Richard Robosky; and five sisters , Gladys Bullis, Barbara Page, Audrey Elder, Betty June Thompson and Miriam Sanderson. A memorial service is planned for Thursday, April 27, at 7 p.m. at the Armbrust Wesleyan Church, Route 819, Armbrust, Pa. Regina Puras Trenga, 83, formerly of Wilmerding, died Saturday, April 15, 2000, in IHS at Mountain View, Unity Township. She was born Jan. 25, 1917, in Wall, a daughter of the late Bernard and Anna Stankevich Puras. She was a member of the Church of the Immaculate Conception of Irwin and a former member of St. Jude Parish, Wilmerding. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Trenga; and a sister, Irene Houston. Surviving are two daughters , Dorothy and her husband, Joseph Ramich, of Irwin and Patricia and her husband, Martin Lynn, of Saltsburg; four grandchildren, James and David Yates, Lora Werkmeister and Mark Lynn; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Bertha Calley of Maryland. Raymond E. Wareham, 76, of North Huntingdon, died Friday, April 14, 2000, in Jeannette. He was born Jan. 25, 1924, in North Braddock, a son of the late Randolph and Vivian (Shutterly) Wareham. He was the owner of Wareham Nurseries and Wareham Feed & Supply. He was a veteran of World War II of the Army Air Corps,®MDBO¯®MDNM¯ serving as a staff sergeant/aerial gunner B24. He was a member of the Lutheran Church of Our Savior, North Huntingdon, and VFW Post 8427 in Herminie. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers , Harry Dempsey and Donald Wareham. Survivors include his wife, Laura E. (Lamison) Wareham; two daughters , Diane Marshall and her husband, Raymond Girman, and Sharon Byrd, all of New Stanton; five brothers , William R. Wareham of North Huntingdon, David Wareham of South Carolina, Clyde Wareham of Arizona, Charles Wareham of Arizona and Clifford Wareham of Indiana, Pa.; and a granddaughter, Amy Byrd of New Stanton. FATHER CHARLES A. WEBER, O.S.B.
Father Charles A. Weber, O.S.B., 81, a monk of St. Vincent Archabbey, Latrobe, died Friday, April 14, 2000, after a long illness. Father Charles was born Oct. 25, 1919, in St. Marys, Pa., a son of the late Clement and Clara (Walker) Weber, and was one of 10 children. He attended Sacred Heart Grade School in St. Marys, and St. Vincent Preparatory School in Latrobe. He received a bachelor of arts degree from St. Vincent College in 1942 and a master of arts degree from St. Vincent Seminary in 1944. He also studied at the Catholic University of America in Washington , D.C. Father Charles entered St. Vincent Archabbey in 1939, making simple profession of vows on July 2, 1940, and solemn profession of vows on July 11, 1943. He was ordained a priest on Nov. 4, 1945. From 1940-1945, Father Charles worked at St. Vincent Preparatory School and College as a prefect, assistant librarian and librarian, and also sang in the Archabbey Schola Cantorum. From 1945-1994, he was assigned to the Archabbey's pastoral apostolates in the dioceses of Greensburg, Pittsburgh and Erie. During that time he served as pastor of St. Mary Church in Erie, St. Gertrude Church in Vandergrift, and St. Cecilia Church in Whitney, Pa. He was a past member of the Finance Committee of the Diocese of Erie, and a member of the Priests' Senate of the Diocese of Greensburg. He retired to the Archabbey in 1994 for health reasons. Father Charles is survived by three sisters , Mrs. Dorothy Herbstritt, Mrs. Virginia Ritter and Ms. Helen Weber, all of St. Marys, Pa. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and a sister. Father Charles's body will be received at Leander Hall at St. Vincent Archabbey Saturday, April 15, at 3 p.m. A viewing for Father Charles will be held at Leander Hall parlor, St. Vincent Archabbey, Latrobe, Saturday from 3 to 4:30 and 7 to 9 p.m., and Sunday from 2 to 4:30 and 7 to 9 p.m. A vigil service will be held in St. Vincent Archabbey Basilica Sunday at 5 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Vincent Basilica at 2:30 p.m. Monday. George C. Wuslick, 75, of North Huntingdon, died Thursday, April 13, 2000, in Jeannette. He was born Feb. 21, 1925, in Export, a son of the late Rade and Sava (Pupich) Wuslick. He was a cost accountant for G.M. Fisher Body and a veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Church, Monroeville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Miller Wuslick; and three sisters , Nellie Yeschke, Mildred and Mary Wuslick. Friends will be received at the VINCENT V. Sara L. "Sally" Zimetbaum, 51, of Youngwood died Wednesday, April 12, 2000. She was preceded in death by her parents, John H. and Alice Perrin Buchanan. She was a graduate of Hempfield High School and Robert Morris College. She was a self-employed business owner since 1982 of Mt. Airy Personal Care Home in New Stanton and Mt. Airy Leathers of Youngwood, and was a member of the Central Westmoreland Chamber of Commerce. She was involved in the organ transplant community and an avid decorator, landscaper, antique collector and lover of folk art. Surviving are her husband, Bernard Zimetbaum; two daughters , Mrs. Eric (Amanda) Smartnick of Ruffsdale and Goldyn Zimetbaum, a student at the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, N.Y.; a granddaughter, Mallorie Starr Smartnick of Ruffsdale; a brother, John P. Buchanan and his wife, Eleanor "Boo," of Palm Bay, Fla.; a sister, Mrs. Pete (Jeanie) McQuillin of Pittsburgh; her favorite dog, Yorkshire terrier Fisher Miles of Mt. Airy (Miles); and eight cats. She was well loved by her family and many friends and will be sadly missed by all. Friends will be received at her home over the weekend (799 Mt. Airy Road, Youngwood). Olive B. Bazella, 85, of Washington Township, died Sunday, April 16, 2000, at Allegheny Valley Hospital, Natrona Heights. She was born July 26, 1914, in New Kensington, a daughter of Alex and Ida Fath Daugherty. She was a homemaker and had lived in Washington Township most of her life. She attended Faith Methodist Church, Delmont. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Bazella, in 1995; and two brothers , Louis and Ray Daugherty. Survived by three sons , John R. Bazella of Punxsutawney, Henry R. Bazella of Ephrata, Pa., and Daniel L. Bazella of Washington Township; two daughters , Connie L. Portella of Milford, N.J., and Linda M.
