William A. Harlan
HONEY GROVE - William A. Harlan, 75, of RR1 Honey Grove, died at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 17, 2003, at his home.
Born Sept. 14, 1927, in Tuscarora Township, Juniata County, he was the son of the late James and Mary (Lauver) Harlan. His wife, Gladys (Campbell) Harlan, survives.
Also surviving are: four sons , Dennis "Butch" Harlan, James "Woody" Harlan, and Roger Harlan, all of RR1 Honey Grove, and William "Mort" Harlan, HC 67, Mifflin; a daughter, Leta Fry, Shermansdale; two sisters , Dorothy Drolsbaugh, Honey Grove, and Helen Bretz, Mechanicsburg; 11 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and a step-great-grandson.
He was a World War II Veteran, serving in the U.S. Army.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, NASCAR, and telling old-time stories to his grandchildren.
His funeral service will be at 2 p.m. today from the Henry Funeral Home, Honey Grove, with Pastor Dennis R. Thompson, Jr., officiating. Interment will be in East Waterford Cemetery where full military honors will be conducted by the Juniata County Veterans Council.
Friends may call from noon until the service time today at the funeral home.

Mya Nickole Harlon
PORT ROYAL - Mya Nickole Harlon, died at birth at 4:48 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2003, at the Lewistown Hospital.
She was the infant daughter of Richard E. Harlon, Jr. and Kelly L. Kulzer of RR1 Box 196, Port Royal. Also surviving is a sister, Jayden M. Harlon, at home.
Her graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Adams Cemetery, Walker Township, Juniata County, with Pastor Kenneth R. Kitzmiller officiating.
Rex Funeral Home, Port Royal, is in charge of arrangements.
Betty E. Harper
LEWISTOWN - Betty E. Harper, 82, of Beverly Healthcare/William Penn and formerly of Granville, died at 9:10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2003, at Lewistown Hospital.
Born April 22, 1921 in Derry Township, she was the daughter of the late John Albert Shea and Laura (Hoverocker) Shea.
Her husband, Roland Harper, preceded her in death in 1966.
She is survived by a son, Donald L. Harper, Lewistown; three daughters , Phyllis Reese, Carlisle; Norma Dobson, McClure; and Betty Lou Harper, Carlisle; three sisters , Mae Stine, Lewistown; Mary Elliot, Lewistown; Mrs. Robert (Ruth) Musselman, Reedsville; 15 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Randall L. Harper, and a brother, Raymond Shea.
She was secretary for the PA Department of Health in Carlisle and Lewistown, and she was later employed as a secretary for the Lewistown Police Department.
She was a member of Pine Glen Church of the Brethren.
A viewing will be held 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St. Lewistown. Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with Rev. Donald Peters officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Rock Cemetery.

Gerald S. 'Jerry' Harrison
LEWISTOWN - Gerald S. "Jerry" Harrison, 66, now of Hummelstown, formerly of Lewistown, died at 10 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2003, at Harrisburg Hospital.
Born Jan. 5, 1937, in Danville, he was the son of the late Abe and Sadie (Bresnick) Harrison. His companion and friend, Marie Isenberg Marshall, survives.
Also surviving is: a niece, Leah (Schoenberger) Camiletti, Allentown.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Roshie Schoenberger.
He owned the Record Nook & Hobby Shoppe in Lewistown. He worked at All Star Ford & McCardles Motors-Hoffman Ford, Harrisburg. He also worked at Super Cars, Reedsville.
He was a member of the Hershey Italian Club. He loved old cars and jazz music. He had a great sense of humor.
His graveside service will be at 2 p.m. today at Ohev Sholom Cemetery, Lewistown with Rabbi Carl Shoper officiating.
A special memorial service for Jerry will be held at Susquehanna Valley Church of God with the Dr. Rev. James E. Johnman, Sr. Pastor officiating at 6 p.m. Monday, May 12.

Ruth F. Harry
COATESVILLE - Ruth F. Harry, 84, of Coatesville, died Thursday, Feb. 20, 2003, at Hickory House Nursing Home, Honey Brook.
Born in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Emil A. and Jeanette Bearley Espigh. She was the widow of J. Willis Harry Jr., who died in 1988.
Surviving are: five cousins.
She graduated from Lewistown High School in 1936 and was Valedictorian of her class.
She was a homemaker and worked for the Boy Scouts of America in Lewistown from 1936-45.
She was a member of Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Coatesville. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Coatesville.
Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.

Dorothy H. 'Dot' Harshbarger
MILLHEIM - Dorothy H. "Dot" Harshbarger, 77, of East Main St., Millheim, died Wednesday, June 25, 2003, at Centre Community Hospital, State College.
Born June 27, 1925, in Mt. Union, she was a daughter of the late Lewis and Jessie (Yocum) Smith. Her husband, Lester F. Harshbarger, whom she married June 14, 1946, died June 11, 2003.
Surviving are: three daughters , Arlene Layne Decker, Tulson, AZ, Karen L. Trapp, Indiana, PA and Deborah K. Distad, Huntingtown, MD; a son, Ray A. Harshbarger, Crum Lynne; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers .
In earlier life she worked in Baltimore, MD for the war effect.
She collected antiques. She enjoyed cooking, playing the lottery and spending time with her grandchildren.
Her funeral service will be at noon Saturday at the Steven R. Neff Funeral Home, 120 West Main St., Millheim, with Rev. Edward H. Putt, Sr., officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Millheim.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

E. Rosene Harshbarger
LEWISTOWN - E. Rosene Harshbarger, 60, of Gas Line Drive, Lewistown (Longfellow) died at 1:40 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2003, at Lewistown Hospital.
Born Nov. 5, 1942, in Saltillo, she was a daughter of Ethel (Whitsel) Brown of Lewistown, and the late Samuel C. Brown. Her husband, Charles E. Harshbarger, whom she married June 29, 1962, survives.
Also surviving are: a daughter, Mrs. Randy (Melissa) Marker, Thompsontown; a son, Ryan E. Harshbarger and wife, Rachel, Moscow; a sister, Mrs. Ronald (Bernadette) Heister, McVeytown; four brothers , Donald V., Spanaway, WA, Samuel H., North Pole, AK, Timothy C., Lewistown, and Randall L., Mapleton Depot; and a granddaughter, Melinda Marker.
She was employed at K.B. Aerotech, Lewistown, having previously worked at Fisher Electronics, Milroy.
She was a member of the Pine Glen Church of the Brethren, and the Bible Learners Sunday School Class.
She enjoyed reading and was an avid gardener, especially fond of roses.
Her funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Pine Glen Church of the Brethren with Pastor Ralph Wilson officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Mattawana.

Lester F. Harshbarger
MILLHEIM - Lester F. Harshbarger, 78, of 140 E. Main St., Millheim, died Wednesday, June 11, 2003, at Centre Community Hospital, State College.
Born July 26, 1924, in Ryde, he was a son of the late Elisha and Ivy Harshbarger. His wife, Dorothy "Dot" (Smith) Harshbarger, whom he married June 14, 1946, survives at home.
Also surviving are: three daughters , Arlene Layne Decker, Tucson, AZ, Karen L. Trapp, Indiana, PA, and Deborah K. Distad, Huntingdon, MD; a son, Ray A. Harshbarger, CrumLynne; a sister, Alice Shirey, McClure; three brothers , Lee Harshbarger, Sweet Valley, Harold Harshbarger, Kersey, and Paul Harshbarger, Mattawana; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was a member of Millheim Fire Co., Miles Township Fire Co., the American Legion Post 444, Millheim, VFW Potters Mills, F.O.P in Lewistown. He was a Cpl. in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and the
Korean War. He was awarded numerous medals.
His funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Steven R. Neff Funeral Home, 120 W. Main St., Millheim, with Rev. Edward H. Putt Sr., officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Millheim. military honors will be by American Legion Post 444.

Sarah Martha Harshbarger
MT. UNION - Sarah Martha Harshbarger, 90, formerly of RR1 Mt. Union, and most recently a resident of Meadowview Manor, RD1 McVeytown, died at 2:27 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, 2003, at the JC Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon.
Born Nov. 22, 1912, in Ryde, she was a daughter of the late Jay Underwood and Ivy Harshbarger. Her husband, Samuel C. Harshbarger, whom she married June 14, 1933, in Hagerstown, MD, by the Rev. JM Carter, died Aug. 31, 2002, in Hagerstown.
Surviving are: five brothers and sisters , Mrs. Charles (Alice) Shirey, McClure, Paul Harshbarger, McVeytown, Lester Harshbarger, Millheim, Leonard Lee Harshbarger, Sweet Valley, and Harold Harshbarger, Kersey.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter on Nov. 16, 1941 and a sister, Alma Gilbert.
She was a member of the Christian Missionary Alliance Church, Mt. Union.
She farmed her entire life. She enjoyed sewing, reading, gardening, and loved being active in her church.
Her funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mt. Union with Pastor Jerry L. Wise officiating. Interment will be in Ryde Cemetery.
Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and after 9 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Tessie B. Hart
MIFFLINTOWN - Tessie B. Hart, 99, of Brookline Manor and Retirement Village, RR1 Mifflintown, and formerly of East Salem, died at 6:30 a.m. Thursday, July 31, 2003, at the Manor.
Born on March 8, 1904, in Walker Township, Juniata County, she was the daughter of the late John E. and Josephine E. (Shirk) Brubaker. Her husband, Charles F. Hart, preceded her in death on April 27, 1984.
Surviving are: three sons , Wayne Hart, RR1 Thompsontown, Bill Hart, Leesport and Ray Hart, HC 63 Richfield; two daughters , Mrs. Robert (Mildred) Kaegel, Thompsontown and Mrs. Lawrence (Elsie Mae) Benner, RR1 McAlisterville; 24 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren, 2 step-great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons , Gerald R. Hart in 1996 and Jay Hart in 1998; a brother, Lloyd R. Brubaker in 1998 and a daughter-in-law, Dorothy Hart in 2002.
She was a very active, life long member of East Salem United Methodist Church, East Salem, where she had served as a Sunday School teacher and was a member of the United Methodist Women.
Her funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday from the East Salem United Methodist Church, East Salem with Rev. Allen Hulslander officiating. Interment will be in East Salem Cemetery, East Salem.

Dorothy M. Hartley
MILROY - Dorothy M. Hartley, 89, formerly of Milroy, died at 5:20 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003, at Ohesson Manor.
Born Feb. 10, 1913, in Aaronsburg, she was a daughter of the late Roland and Margaret Agnes (Woods) Kramer. Her first husband, Orville E. Hinkle, died in 1970. Her second husband, E. Kenneth Hartley died in 1996.
Surviving are: four children, Mary Ellen Parsons, Tulas, OK, Ernest E. Hinkle, Huntsville, AL, Howard James Hinkle, McClure, and Gary Lee Hinkle, Abernathy, TX; four step-children, Carl Hartley, Akron, OH, Mrs. Frank (Faye) Smith, Barberton, OH, Nancy Yetter, Lewistown, and Mrs. Robert (Paula) Schuck, Milroy; a sister, Ruth Walter, Milroy; and numerous grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: three daughters , Judy Ann, Margaret A. Romig, and Marie D. Maddox; two sisters , Myrtle Knepp and Goldie Mae Hassinger; and a brother, Karl Kramer.
She worked at Green's and Fisher's Hosiery Mills, Milroy, the Alert Shoe Company, Milroy, and Sports Style, Lewistown.
She attended Maitland Church of the Brethren.
Her memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bohn Funeral Home, Reedsville with Rev. Charles M. Elderidge officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Milroy.
There will be no public viewing, however, family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the funeral home.
