Elda M. Eward
MILROY - Elda M. Eward, 78, of Lafayette Hill and Milroy, died Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2003, in the At Bishop White Lodge, Nursing Center in Andorra, Philadelphia.
Born in Milroy, she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Lizzie (Smith) Johnson. She was the former wife of the late Marshall E. Eward who died 1999.
Surviving are: a daughter, Barbara Jablokov, Lafayette Hill; a son, Col. Marshall K. Eward, Harrisburg; two sisters , Betty Snook, Lewistown, and Lucille Davis, Muncie; and three grandchildren.
She was a retired secretary, employed by Mifflin County School District.
She was a member of St. Philip Neri Church in Lafayette Hill. She was a former member of Milroy Presbyterian Church and the Milroy Volunteer Fire Company, where she served as an E.M.T. along with her late husband.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Saint Philip Neri Church, 437 Ridge Pike, Lafayette Hill. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
Friends may call from 9:15 a.m. until the time of the service Monday at the church.

Eunice M. Ewing
MCCLURE - Eunice M. Ewing, 91, of RR2 McClure, passed away at 8:10 p.m. May 27, 2003, at the Sunbury Community Hospital. She had been a resident at Penn Lutheran Village for the past 7 years.
Born May 30, 1911, in Siglerville, she was a daughter of the late Orris W. and Eva (Barger) Pecht. On June 2, 1934, she married the late Spencer E. Ewing, who passed away April 10, 1993.
Surviving are: two daughters and sons -in-law, Eleanor M. and Gary L. Crawford, Middletown and Bonnie E. and Terry H. Hack, Harrisburg; a son and daughter-in-law, Larry E. and Anita M. Ewing, Roanoke, VA; ten grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and a sister, Dorothy E. Pecht, Milroy.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly J. Ewing in 1975, three sisters , Bertha Pecht, Helen Knepp and Katharine Jochen.
She was a member of Mt. Bethel United Church of Christ, McClure, where she participated in the Pollyanna Class and the Women's Guild.
She graduated from Milroy High School in 1928. In 1930, she received her teaching certificate from Shippensburg Normal School and began her teaching career in the one-room Fairview School. She taught several years in West Beaver School District and continued substituting into the 1970's with the Midd-West School District. She was a member of the Beaver Springs Senior Center, and enjoyed planning their activities. She enjoyed her family, helping others, crocheting, knitting, reading and was a big Nittany Lion fan.
Her funeral service will be at at 11 a.m. Friday at Mt. Bethel United Church of Christ with Rev. Donald Wise officiating. Interment will be in McClure Union Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. today in the McClure Chapel of Aurand Funeral Homes, N. Brown St., McClure, where family will be present from 7-9 p.m.

Charles Robert Farleman
MEXICO - Charles Robert Farleman, 41, of Mexico, died at 6:07 a.m. Friday, April 11, 2003, at his home.
Born Feb. 18, 1962, in Derry Township, Mifflin County, he was a son of Jean (Zimmerman) Farleman of Mexico and the late Wade R. Farleman. His wife, Tracy L. (Powers) Farleman, whom he married on April 26, 1986, survives.
Also surviving are: two daughters , Kayla N. Farleman and Sierra N. Farleman; one sister, Linda J. Farleman, Mexico.
He was a 1980 graduate of Juniata High School, Mifflintown, attended Harrisburg Area Community College and was a 1984 graduate of Thompson Institute.
He was a member of the Mexico United Presbyterian Church and manager of Hardee's Restaurant, Mifflintown.
His greatest joys were his daughters and family.
His funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Mifflintown Chapel of Brown Funeral Homes Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown, with the Rev. Carol Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Union Memorial Gardens Cemetery, RR4 Mifflintown.
Friends will be received from 1 p.m. until the time of the service Monday at the funeral home.
Warren Harvey 'Pap' Ferguson
MILLERSTOWN - Warren Harvey 'Pap' Ferguson, 81, of Millerstown, entered into eternal rest early Wednesday morning, Feb. 19, 2003, at his residence. He had been seriously ill since Jan. 5, 2003.
Born July 4, 1921, in Dimmsville, he was a son of the late Harvey and Alice (Cox) Ferguson. He was first married to Emma I. Cramer, who preceded him in death on Feb. 2, 1979. He then married the former Carolyn G. Long on Nov. 15, 1980, she survives.
Also surviving are: four sons , Russel W. "Buck" Ferguson and wife, Lucille, RR1 Thompsontown, Harold W. "Bill" Ferguson and wife, Lana, RR1 Thompsontown, Dennis E. Maize and wife, Peggy, Landisburg, and James E. Maize, Butler; a daughter, Fay A. "Sis" Troutman and husband, Dale, RR1 Thompsontown; 13 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and 4 generations of nieces and nephews.
He was the last of his immediate family having been preceded in death by: a grandson, Russel W. Ferguson Jr.; a brother, Frescolyn Ferguson; and three sisters , Ethel Myers, Charlotte Troutman, and Grace Ferguson, in childhood.
He was educated at Bethlehem Grammar schoolhouse.
He retired in 1983 from D.E. Smith Construction Company, Mifflintown, where he was employed as an equipment operator for many years. Previously he worked as a grader operator for various companies. He was engaged in farming his entire life.
He was the road master and supervisor for Greenwood Twp., Juniata County, for many years and had served as Trustee for Bethlehem Cemetery Association for many years.
He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, RR1 Richfield, and the Millerstown Ambulance League. He always placed his family first on his listing of priorities, he loved and cherished his family. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening.
His funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Faith Lutheran Church, RR1 Richfield, with Rev. Timothy W. Bingman officiating. Interment will be in Bethlehem Cemetery, RR2 Millerstown.
Family and friends will gather for the viewing from 7-9 p.m. Saturday at the George P. Garman Funeral Home, Mt. Pleasant Mills.

Alice M. Ferry
MCALISTERVILLE - Alice M. Ferry, 73, of McAlisterville, died at 2:30 a.m. Thursday, May 1, 2003, at her home.
Born Jan. 6, 1930, in Evandale, Juniata County, she was a daughter of the late Percy W. and Florence (Naylor) Graybill. Her husband, John W. Ferry, whom she married Sept. 24, 1950, preceded her in death March 20, 2002.
Surviving are: three daughters , Rebecca L. Ames and husband, Herbert K., Crosswicks, NJ, Melissa D. Kerstetter and husband, Bradley W., McAlisterville, and Jennifer L. Heric and husband, Paul W., Nazareth; a brother, Richard E. Graybill, RR1 McAlisterville; a sister, Shirley Saner, RR1 Thompsontown; 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers , Raymond M. Graybill and Harold E. Graybill.
Prior to raising a family, she worked at a dry cleaning establishment in North Carolina. Later she was a school bus driver and also served as a monitor at East Juniata High School, where she served the Juniata County School District for 23 years, retiring June 15, 1995.
She was a member of Richfield Mennonite Church, where she was a member and past president of the Ladies Sunday school class, the Women's Missionary Society of the church, and had served as Sunday school teacher. She was also a member of the Fayette Community Carnival Committee, the McAlisterville Community Building Committee and the Juniata County Retired School Employees. She had also belonged to the East Juniata High School Band Boosters, was a former 4H leader and drove the bus for the Campus Life beach trip and during the trip she took care of working in the kitchen.
Her hobbies included sewing, gardening, baby-sitting, attending sporting events and she was a friend to all, especially she loved helping young people and her family.
Her funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday from the Richfield Mennonite Church, Richfield, with Pastor Jerry R. O'Connell officiating. Interment will be in Richfield Union Cemetery.
Friends mat call from 5-9 p.m. Saturday at the church, where the family be present from 6-9 p.m.

Naomi 'Jane' Fike
LEWISTOWN - Naomi "Jane" Fike, 72, of 9 Gers Lane, Lewistown, formerly of Strodes Mills, died at 1 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, 2003, at her residence.
Born Oct. 21, 1930, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Helen G. (Reeder) Kochenderfer. Her husband, Kenneth F. Fike, died April 3, 1990.
Surviving are: six children, Kenneth E. Fike, Beverly K. Gers, Annette Lightfoot, Carol Alexander and Nancy Hopple, all of Lewistown, and Nora Weaver of Granville; brothers and sisters , Ramona Weaver, and Russell Kochenderfer, both of Huntingdon, Genevieve Cravens and Virginia Walters, both of Missouri, Emmerson F. Kochenderfer, Cross Keys, Paulette Blyer, McVeytown, and Logan Kochenderfer, Blairs Mills; 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael.
She was a housewife. She was a member of VFW 7011 Moose Lodge #143, Lewistown, W. Granville Fire Company Auxiliary, East Derry Fire Company and the Eagles Club.
Her funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan St., Lewistown, with Rev. Jonathan God officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park.

Helen H. Finkbeiner
LEWISTOWN - Helen H. Finkbeiner, 91, of Ohesson Manor Nursing Home, Lewistown, formerly of South Main Street, Lewistown, died at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 17, 2003, at the nursing home.
Born June 12, 1911, in Phillipsburg, she was a daughter of the late Jackson H. and Pearlah (Biddle) Harpster. Her husband, George L. Finkbeiner, preceded her in death on March 16, 1956.
Surviving are a son and daughter, Ned H. Finkbeiner and wife, Betty, Bloomfield Hills, MI and Nancy K. Knable, Burnham; a sister, Joyce Foreman, Wellsboro; six grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters .
She was a teacher's assistant in the Mifflin County School District for 19 years, retiring in 1976.
She was a member of Grove Memorial United Methodist Church, Lewistown, where she was a member and treasurer of the Live Wire Sunday School class. Active in the Church Women United, she also served as treasurer.
She was also a member of the Lewistown Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Retired Teachers Association, and served as vice chairperson of the Republican Committee for 12 years.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Grove Memorial United Methodist Church, South Main Street, Lewistown, with Rev. D. Gregory Lake officiating. Interment will be in Lind Memorial Cemetery, Lewistown.
Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service Monday at the church.

Elizabeth Dorothea (Shimp) Fleming
LEWISTOWN - Elizabeth Dorothea (Shimp) Fleming, 89, a resident of Ohesson Manor, entered into rest April 3, 2003.
Born December 12, 1913, the wife of Martin Sigler Fleming (deceased 11-04-93). She was the mother and survived by Jean Fleming McAlister and Janet Fleming Headings, both of Lewistown. The grandmother of Laticia Elizabeth Headings, Santa Monica, CA, and Christopher Martin Headings, Charlottesville, VA. Two sisters , Irene S. Bailey and Mildred L. Nicholson, both of Lewistown.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Laticia Aurand Shimp and Roy Steely Shimp; three brothers and four sisters .
Being an active individual, Libby enjoyed her home, gardening and, most of all, time with her grandchildren.
She was a member of Lewistown Presbyterian Church.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 7, 2003, with Rev. Robert Zorn officiating. Visitation will be 10 a.m., with the service at 11 a.m., at Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan St., Lewistown. Internment will follow at William Lind Cemetery.

Kandus Y. Fohringer
MILLHEIM - Kandus Y. Fohringer, 44, of Millheim, died Thursday, Aug. 7, 2003, as a result of injuries sustained in an auto accident.
Born June 28, 1959, in Ohio, she was a daughter of James and Evelyn Mateer Furgison, who survive in Bellefonte. On May 21, 1994, she married Randy Fohringer, who survives at home.
Also surviving are: a daughter, Kelli and her husband, Rodney Brungart, Rebersburg; a step-daughter, Heather Fohringer, Aaronsburg; two sons , Randy Swatsworth and his wife, Rose and Travis Swathworth, both of Bellefonte; two brothers , James L. Furgison, Gilbert, NC and John Furgison, State College; three grandchildren, Allisha Weaver, Ricky and Austin Swatsworth, and a foster granddaughter. She was preceded in death by two sisters .
She attended Bellefonte High School and worked at Corning Asahi Video Products, where she worked in quality assurance and most recently as a supervisors assistant. She was a member of Miles Township Fire Company.
She especially enjoyed NASCAR racing, horses, fishing and the beach; and cherished spending time with her family.
Friends will be received from 11-2 p.m. Sunday at the Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral Service, 226 S. Pennsylvania Ave., Centre Hall.
Her funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Milroy.

Ann Marie Foltz
LANCASTER - Ann Marie Foltz, 63, of 132 Conestoga Blvd., Lancaster, died Sunday, April 27, 2003, at home, after an illness. She was under the care of a physician.
Born in Columbia, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Mamie Groff Eberlein.
She was the wife of Gerald K. "Jerry" Foltz, Jr., with whom she was married 23 years last July. Mr. Foltz was a former Lewistown native.
Surviving in addition to her husband are nieces, nephews, and her in-laws, Gerald K. and Mary P. Foltz, Lewistown.
She was employed as a head waitress at O'Halloran's Irish Pub and Eatery, Cabbage Hill, since 1996. Prior to that she had been employed at the former Paragon Tavern on Millersville Pike for 23 years. She was known for her ability to remember her customers and their orders without the use of an order pad and pen.
She was of the Protestant faith.
She was a member of the Women of the Moose, Chickies Rock Chapter 724, Columbia, the Ladies Auxiliary of Millersville/Manor Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7294 and the Seventh Ward Club, Lancaster.
Her funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the Chapel of the Andrew T. Scheid Funeral Home, 320 Blue Rock Rd., Millersville, with Rev. William A. Groff officiating.
Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. until the service time Friday at the funeral home.
