Pennsylvania Obituary and Marriage Records, 1947-2010

Cathrin F. Edwards
MECHANICSBURG - Cathrin F. Edwards, 82, of 469 Bethany Drive, Mechanicsburg, formerly of Grand Parkway, Lewistown, died at 3:52 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, at Bethany Village, Mechanicsburg.

Born Feb. 14, 1910, in Wellsville, York County, she was a daughter of the late S.A. and Annie M. (Stough) Fitzgerald. Her husband, Theodore J. Edwards, died in 1983.

Surviving are: a daughter, Mrs. Graham (Susan) Watson, Caerphilly, Wales; and a sister, Mrs. Olive Wester, Pittman, NJ.

She was preceded in death by four brothers , four sisters and five grandchildren.

She was a graduate of Dickinson College. She taught high school in Lower Bucks County and Chief Logan for 27 years, retiring in 1972.

She was a member of Lewistown Presbyterian Church, Delta Kappa Gamma Association and the National and PA and Cumberland County Retired Teachers Association.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Lewistown Presbyterian Church with Rev. Bruce Hinderliter officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Rock Cemetery.

Paul E. Epler
HUMMELSTOWN - Paul E. Epler, 91, of Hummelstown, passed away Tuesday Jan. 28, 2003, in the IHS of Hershey at the Woodlands after a long illness.

Born Dec. 10, 1911, in Windber, he was a son of the late Edward S. and Katherine E. (Stoner) Epler. He was the husband of the late Anna F. (Zapcic) Epler who preceded him in death June 18, 1987.

Surviving are: a sister, Emma Gerlach of the IHS of Hershey at the Woodlands; four sons , Raymond F., Fresno, CA, Robert M., Hummelstown, Kenneth R., Finksburg, MD, and William A., Wesley Chapel, FL; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Frank 'Boots' M. Epler on June 15, 2001.

Until his retirement he was employed by Hershey Chocolate Company where he worked in the Cocoa Department. He was a self-employed contractor. He was active in gardening and walking.

He served in the U.S. Navy.

A prayer service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Trefz and Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 W. Main St., Hummelstown with Rev. Fr. Raymond J. La Voie of St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church, Hershey, officiating. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery.

Viewings will be from 6-8 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home, and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Monday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to: St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church, 359 W. Areba Ave., Hershey, PA 17033.

Dorothy Erb
DAUPHIN - Dorothy Erb, 88, of Dauphin, died Friday, May 9, 2003. She was the wife of Guy R. Erb, formerly of Burnham, who now resides at Locust Grove Nursing Home.

Edna G. Erb
ENOLA - Edna G. Erb, 87, of Enola, passed away Tuesday Jan. 28, 2003, in Manor Care of Camp Hill.

Surviving are: her husband of 66 years, Glen A. Erb; two daughters , Nancy L. Eshenour, Dillsburg, and Judy L. Brewbaker, Enola; two brothers , Reed Henry, Beaver Springs, and Roland Henry, Beavertown; four grandchildren, Brett Eshenour, Dillsburg, Heidi Eshenour, Dillsburg, Matthew Brewbaker, Iowa City, Iowa, and Michael Brewbaker, Inwood, WV; four great-grandchildren, Derek and Kristopher Eshenour, both of Dillsburg, and Sydney and Dylan Brewbaker, Inwood, WV.

She is a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Enola, and it's Ladies Bible Class.

Her funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Zion Lutheran Church, 265 N. Enola Dr., Enola. Interment will be in Stone Church Cemetery, Silver Springs Township.

A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Monday at the church.

The Richardson Funeral Home, Enola, is handling arrangements.

Jeannette G. Erb
MCVEYTOWN - Jeannette G. Erb, 68, of 230 Big Greenbriar Road, McVeytown, died at 6:23 p.m. Sunday Jan. 5, 2003, at Altoona Hospital.

She married Kenneth D. Erb.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mt. Union with Rev. Dayton Sines officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Union Cemetery.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

John D. "Butch" Erhart, Jr.
LEWISTOWN - John D. "Butch" Erhart, Jr., 49, of Lewistown died Friday, March 28, 2003 at Lewistown Hospital.

Born December 19, 1953, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late John D. and Betty M. (Willard) Erhart, Sr.

He is survived by 5 brothers and 5 sisters , Karen R. Erhart, Donald D. Erhart, James N. Erhart, David A. White sel, Steven M. Erhart, Karl E. Erhart, and Dona J. Erhart, all of Lewistown, Debra A. Kirk of Port Royal, Linda K. Erhart Wallick and Wanda S. Baumgardner, both of Reedsville.

He was a United States Veteran, serving in the Air Force and enjoyed composing song lyrics.

His funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Guss Funeral Home, 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown with Pastor Ed Moore and Pastor Marshall Deckard officiating. Interment will be in Adams Cemetery where the flag will be presented by the Juniata County Veterans Council. There will be a viewing one hour prior to the services on Tuesday.

Ronald E. Esh
MIFFLIN - Ronald E. Esh, 66, of HC 67 Box 99C, Mifflin, died at 10:25 p.m. Monday, Feb. 17, 2003, at the Lewistown Hospital ER.

Born Feb. 12, 1937, in Spruce Hill Twp., Juniata County, he was a son of the late Edgar P. and Edna (Ewing) Esh. His wife, Karen L. (Brackbill) Esh, whom he married May 27, 1983, survives at home.

Also surviving are: a son, Christopher Allen Esh, at home; and a brother, David B. Esh, of RR1 Port Royal.

He was a truck driver and drove for Kirk Trucking, Delmont.

He was a 1955 graduate of Juniata High School, Mifflintown.

He was a U.S. Army Peacetime Veteran.

He attended Bible Baptist Church, Burnham.

His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Rex Funeral Home, Port Royal with Rev. John S. Walters officiating. Interment will be in New Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Friday at the funeral home. There will be no evening viewing.

Glenn S. 'Eby' Espigh
MCVEYTOWN - Glenn S. "Eby" Espigh, 84, of River Road, McVeytown, died at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 15, 2003, at Beverly Healthcare-William Penn, Lewistown.

Born July 4, 1919, in Bratton Township, he was a son of the late Vance I. and Luella J. (Youtzy) Espigh. His wife, Helen J. (Rittenhouse) Espigh, whom he married Oct. 10, 1940, survives.

Also surviving are: children, Virginia L. Turner, and Gloria L. Espigh-Runk, both of Lewistown, Robert E. Espigh and wife Tooter, Milroy, and Patricia J. Crosson and husband Pete, McVeytown; siblings, Mrs. Robert (Lois) Notestine, Lewistown, Mrs. Jack (Ida) Hambright, McVeytown, Mrs. William (Mildred) Smith, Lewistown, Mrs. Richard (Nancy) Erdley, State College; 8 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Rhoda Jane Davis.

He was a self-employed farmer, also having worked at Haws Refractories for 32 years.

He was a member of the Pine Glen Church of the Brethren and the Men's Bible Sunday School class. He was also a member of the McVeytown Fire Company, the Farm Bureau Cooperative, the ASCS Farmers Association and the Dairylea Farm Cooperative.

His funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Pine Glen Church of the Brethren with Rev. Donald E. Peters, Jr. officiating. Interment will be in Pine Glen Cemetery.

Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Harshbarger Funeral Home, 3 South Market St., McVeytown.

Fred J. Estep Sr.
LEWISTOWN - Fred J. Estep Sr., 66, of Railroad Street, Lewistown, died at 7:50 a.m. Friday, June 13, 2003.

Born April 10, 1937, in McVeytown, he was a son of the late John S. and Bessie M. (Moon) Estep. His first wife, Josephine (Tudesco) Estep, preceded him in death on Nov. 18, 1997, and his son, Fred J. Estep Jr., preceded him in death on Feb. 22, 1989. His second wife, Celeste A. (Weikert) Estep, whom he married Sept. 15, 2000, survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Tammy J. Estep, Alexandria, VA; a son, Phillip Estep and wife Michelle, Lewistown; step-children, Christine Hemphill, Desert Hot Springs, CA, Mrs. Matthew (Rachel) Hagans, Mrs. Steven (Theresa) Yocum and William Neogra, all of Lewistown; two grandchildren, Briana M. Estep and Imirra J. Estep; and seven step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters .

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served with the 101st Airborne Division.

He was a former building contractor in New York, also having retired from maintenance at the Malta Home, Granville.

He was a member of Locust Grove Mennonite Church, Belleville.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Locust Grove Mennonite Church, Belleville, with Rev. Gerald Peachey and Rev. Mayard Beitzel officiating. Interment will be in Locust Grove Cemetery, Belleville.

Memorial contributions may be made to Locust Grove Mennonite Church, 3358 W. Main St., Belleville, PA 17004.

Cartis Ann Ettman
ORLANDO, FL - Cartis Ann Ettman, 63, of South Lake Orlando Parkway, Orlando, FL 32808, died of cancer at 11:37 a.m. Wednesday, July 02, 2003, at Orlando Regional Lucerne Hospital.

Born Oct. 25, 1939, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late R. Marie Corkins and Harry Glenn Corkins.

Surviving are: children, Holly Boumal, McClure, Kelly Marookian, Clinton, NJ; sisters , Kitty Gingerich, Timonium, MD, Paula Guyett, Bradenton, FL; brothers , Harry Glenn Corkins Jr., West Palm Beach, FL, William Corkins, Auburndale, FL; and six grandchildren.

She was a graduate of Lewistown High School.

She worked as a legal secretary for Zimmerman, Shuffield, Kiser and Sutcliffe, P.A. Orlando, FL. She was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church, Winter Park, FL, a member of the choir and was involved in the Stevens Ministry.

Services and interment will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, July 12, in Lind Memorial Cemetery, Lewistown, with Pastor Gerald A. Krum officiating.

Agnes L. Evans
Mt. UNION - Agnes L. Evans, 82, of 22 E. Milford St., Mt. Union, crossed over, surrounded by her loved ones at 11 a.m. Sunday, March 9, 2003, at the home of her granddaughter, Sheila Hancock.

Born Dec. 20, 1920, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late John E. and Mary Frances (Weitzel) Lennartz.

She was united in Holy Matrimony to John Robert Evans on Jan. 17, 1944, in Lewistown. Her beloved husband crossed over June 27, 1973.

Surviving are: two daughters and two sons -in-law, John J. Jr., and Mary Virginia Hancock, Mt. Union, and Rodney J. and Ruth F. Angle, RD1 Huntingdon; six granddaughters, Mrs. Shawn (Sherry J.) Leonard, RD Three Springs, Mrs. Joseph (Michele A.) Huntsman, HCR Mill Creek, Sheila Hancock, Mt. Union, Mrs. Richard (Jennifer S.) Morris, Duncansville, Mrs. Daren (Stephanie E.) Stains, Orbisonia, and Amber N. Low, Mt. Union; seven great-granddaughters and nine great-grandsons.

Also surviving are: five sisters and three brothers , Gertrude Amone, Seattle, WA, John J. Lennartz, Lewistown, Florence Knepp, Baltimore, MD, Charles Lennartz, Lewistown, William Lennartz, Chambersburg, Eva Roddy, Mt. Union, Louise Hughes, Lewistown, and Theresa Witzel, Norristown.

She was preceded in death by a brother and a sister, Frank Lennartz and Marie Kauffman.

Agnes graduated from Lewistown High School in 1938.

She was a member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church.

Her funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Catherine's Catholic Church, Mt. Union, with Fr. Elwood Figurelle and Rev. Rich Morris officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mt. Union. The Wake service will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday.
