Lillian E. Dillree
LEWISTOWN - Lillian E. Dillree, 75, a resident of Valley View Haven and formerly of 502 Maple Ave., Lewistown, died at 7:10 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16, 2003, at Valley View.
Born May 17, 1927, in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of Albert and Ellen (McNeil) Hughes. Her husband, John M. Dillree Sr., preceded her in death on July 24, 1990.
Surviving are: two sons , Terry L. Dillree, Lewistown, and John M. Dillree Jr., Belleville; and two grandchildren.
She was the last of her immediate family having been preceded in death by a sister.
She co-owned Ye Olde Motor Inn, Milroy and later was a waitress at the Holiday Inn.
She was a member of Rhodes Memorial United Methodist Church.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Hoenstine Funeral Home, Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown with Rev. Thomas B. Morningstar officiating. Interment will be in Presbyterian Cemetery, Belleville. There will be no public viewing.

Harry H. 'Hal' Dinsmore Sr.
PITTSBURGH - Harry H. "Hal" Dinsmore, Sr., 79, died April 7, 2003, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh.
He was the son of the late William Arthur and Grace Monteith Dinsmore of Punxsutawney. Born March 7, 1924, in Patton, he was raised in Hellwood.
Surviving are: his wife of 49 years, Joan Evans Dinsmore, Punxsutawney; his children, David Dinsmore and wife Deanna, Burlinton, WA, Cathryn Ann (Nan) Dinsmore Ellis and husband, Mike, Concord, NC, Harry H. Dinsmore Jr., M.D. and wife Vicki, State College, Robert W. Dinsmore and wife Patricia, Punxsutawney, and John E. Dinsmore M.D. and wife Kristin, Fresno, CA; a sister, Helen D. Elliott, Huntington; a brother, Ray Dinsmore, Punxsutawney; many nieces and nephews; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He served in Vietnam from 1966-67 as Chief of Surgery at the Naval Support Activity Hospital in DaNang. He returned to Bethesda Naval Hospital and retired from the Navy in Nov. 1967.
He opened his private practice in Punxsutawney in Nov. 1967 and faithfully served the community with dedication and commitment until his retirement in Jan. 1991.
He was highly decorated while serving in the U.S. Navy for both his skill and bravery. He was awarded the Navy's highest medal, the Navy Cross for service and valor above and beyond the call of duty in the Vietnam War.
His funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Presbyterian Church, Punxsutawney with Rev. Kent E. Holmes officiating. Interment will be in Circle Hill Cemetery, Punxsutawney with full military honors.

Ralph L. Ditmer
LEWISTOWN - Ralph L. Ditmer, 71, of Farm View Lane, Lewistown, died at 9:40 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8, 2003, at Lewistown Hospital.
Born May 13, 1932, he was a son of the late Robert and Maude (Adams) Ditmer. His wife, E. Louise (Kenepp) Ditmer, whom he married Nov. 1, 1957, survives.
Also surviving are: two daughters , Wendy Brown, Saltillo and Terri Krause, Lewistown; a brother, Robert Ditmer, Port Royal; a sister, Ruth Kleckner, Ickesburg; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant granddaughter.
He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict.
He was a retired truckdriver, also having worked at Advance Auto Parts as a delivery person.
He was a member of the Pine Glen Alliance Church and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. today at the Pine Glen Alliance Church with Rev. Jerry Wise officiating.

Dr. Robert E. Dixon
LEWISTOWN - Dr. Robert E. Dixon, 79, of Venice, FL and 90 Luther Drive, Lewistown, died at 8 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 17, 2003, at his residence in Lewistown.
Born Dec. 10, 1923, in Saxton, he was a son of the late Clarence and Lena (Reed) Dixon. His wife, Betty Belle (Anderson) Dixon, whom he married May 5, 1946, survives.
Also surviving are: five children, Carle "Andy" Dixon, Mechanicsburg, Mrs. Clifford (Rebecca) Scott, Lewistown, Mrs. Michael (Pamela) Castro, Reedsville, Mrs. Gary (Mamie) Pollock, Dover, and Kelley Dixon, Venice, FL; a brother, William Dixon, Cumberland, MD; a sister, Gladys Slick, Bedford; 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters .
He was a graduate of Saxton-Liberty High School, Juniata College, Hahnemann Medical School, and served his Residency at Magee Women's Hospital.
He practiced as an Obstetrician/Gynecologist for more than 40 years, until his retirement in 1992.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was a member of numerous social, civic and professional organizations.
His funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with Rev. Richard Noll officiating. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery, Saxton.

Milton F. 'Mink' Dobson Sr.
MILROY - Milton F. "Mink" Dobson, Sr., 82, of 4863 New Lancaster Valley Road, Milroy, died at 6:55 p.m. Tuesday, July 15, 2003, at Lewistown Hospital ER.
Born April 14, 1921, in New Lancaster Valley, he was a son of the late Oscar Milton and Gertrude V. (Kearns) Dobson. His wife, Evelyn K. (Rhodes) Dobson, died Nov. 28, 1987.
Surviving are: a son, Milton F. Dobson, Jr., a daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Betty) Lash, and a brother, James M. Dobson, all of New Lancaster Valley; three grandchildren and a great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by: a brother, Francis Leroy Dobson on Feb. 7, 1969; two sisters , Martha Mae Knepp on May 17, 1975 and Lydia Viola Haines on July 11, 1991.
He was a self-employed logger and had worked for the Dept. of Forests and Waters.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran.
His funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Bohn Funeral Home, Reedsville, with Rev. Arthur Paige officiating. Interment will be in New Lancaster Valley Cemetery, Milroy.

Joyce M. Dodd
REEDSVILLE - Joyce M. Dodd, 97, a resident of Outlook Pointe, Reedsville, died at 1:40 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003, at Outlook Pointe.
Born July 12, 1905, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Newton and Hulda (Sulouff) Benner. Her husband, Lawrence V. Dodd, died 1958.
Surviving are: a son, Lawrence V. Dodd Jr., of 204 Cornfield Circle, Lewistown; and 6 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was the last of her immediate family having been preceded in death by: a daughter, Dorothy VanNess; a brother and four sisters .
She worked in the Lawrence NY Public School Library for 17 years.
She was a member of Yeagertown United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Eastern Star Pennisula Chapter, Inwood, NY, and a life member of PTA in Lawrence NY.
Her funeral service will be private at the convenience of the family. There will be no viewing.
Interment will be in Nassau Knolls Memorial Park, Port Washington , NY.

Gladys S. Donahey
STRODES MILLS - Gladys S. Donahey, 84, a resident of Ohesson Manor Nursing Home, formerly of Strodes Mills, died at 9:20 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2003, at the nursing home.
Born Oct. 11, 1918, in Oliver Township, Mifflin County, she was a daughter of the late William J. and Annie E. (Ruble) Donahey.
Surviving is a sister, Grace E. Donahey, McVeytown.
She was preceded in death by five brothers and a sister.
She was a homemaker. She was a member of Strodes Mills Baptist Church.
Her funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Hoenstine Funeral Home, Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with Rev. Darvin Donahey and Rev. Jonathan C. God officiating. Interment will be in Mattawana Cemetery.

Mary T. Doughten
MIFFLINTOWN - Mary T. Doughten, 97, of 105 North St., Mifflintown, died at 5:03 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2003, at Lewistown Hospital.
Born Aug. 4, 1905, in Mifflin, Juniata County, she was a daughter of the late William E. and Annie (Yeater) Taylor. Her husband, Alvin R. Doughten, preceded her in death on July 23, 1936.
She is survived by: a son, James R. Doughten, RR3 Mifflintown; two brothers , N. Kenneth Taylor, Liverpool and George Taylor, Millerstown; three granddaughters; six great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by a son, a daughter, two sisters , and two brothers .
She was a member of the Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Mifflintown.
Until her retirement she was a Manager for Zimmie's Diner, Mifflintown and in earlier life she had worked at Milliken's Restaurant, Mifflintown.
She was an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan and enjoyed baking, cooking, knitting and crocheting.
Her funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday from the Mifflintown Chapel of Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge Street, Mifflintown, with Rev. Clair R. Troutman officiating. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery, Millerstown.
A viewing will be held from 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Frank P. Downing
REEDSVILLE - Frank P. Downing, 99, of Malta Home, Granville, formerly of Church Hill, Reedsville, died at 10:53 a.m. Monday, Feb. 24, 2003, at Malta Home.
Born Jan. 1, 1904, in Blair County, he was a son of the late David S. and Lizzie Maude (Beck) Downing. His wife, Lena M. (Carper) Downing, died Jan. 19, 1970.
Surviving are: two children, David S. Downing, Reedsville, and Mrs. William (Dorene) Marsh, Los Alamos, NM; three grandchildren, Cynthia Downing, David S. Downing, and ZeeAnn Kane Marsh; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: a son, Frank P. Downing Jr. in 1944; a brother, Walter J. Downing Sr.; a sister, Rachel Downing Davis; and a grandson, William R. Marsh.
He worked in the wheel rolling mill at Standard Steel for 46 years, retiring in 1969.
He was a member of Rhodes Memorial United Methodist Church, the adult Sunday School class, and United Steelworkers Local #1940.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Heller-Hoenstine Burnham Funeral Home, 108 First Ave., Burnham, with Pastor Thomas B. Morningstar officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Rock Cemetery.

Charles L. Dress Sr.
LEWISTOWN - Charles L. Dress Sr., 86, of 1520 Middle Rd., Lewistown, died at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2003, at Beverly Healthcare-William Penn.
Born March 22, 1917, in Lamar, he was the son of the late Charles Dress and Lillian (Bower) Dress Shearer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen E. (Bottorf) Dress, on Nov. 13, 2002.
Surviving are: a son, Charles L. Dress Jr. and wife, Joan, of Lewistown; five half-brothers and -sisters , Margaret Fetterman of Mill Hall, Evelyn Girton of Mill Hall, Earnest R. Shearer of Virginia, James Shearer of Maryland and Clara VanGorder of Lock Haven; two grandchildren, Timothy W. Dress and wife, Jana, of Lewistown and Mrs. Mark (Tammy) Walters of Milton; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Harry Dress; a half-brother, Carl Shearer; and a sister, Kathryn Dress.
He worked as a salesman, selling plumbing and heating supplies for Central Penn Supply and, earlier in life, for Montgomery Ward and Krentzman's Supply. He also served in the U.S. Army during World War II-European Theatre.
He was a life member at Lewistown Elks Lodge, a former member of City Hook and Ladder Fire Company, Lewistown Moose Lodge and U.C.T. and the National Rifle Association.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with Rev. Jacob T. Traxler officiating. Graveside military rites will be conducted by VFW Post 7011. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park.
