Marvin L. ' White y' Carolus
REEDSVILLE - Marvin L. " White y" Carolus, 61, of 14 Royal ST., Reedsville, died at 11 p.m. Saturday Feb. 1, 2003, at his residence.
Born Dec. 21, 1941, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Marvin W. and Myrtle Harriet (Keagle) Carolus.
Surviving are: two daughters , Catherine Fleegal, Lewistown and Barbara Soccio, Yeagertown; three brothers , Ronald E. Carolus, Lewistown, Richard E. Carolus, Burnham, and George Carolus, Doctor's Inlet, FL; and four grandchildren.
He was a bus driver and mechanic for 30 years at Himes 322 Service Center.
He graduated in 1961 from Lewistown High School.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era.
He was a member of Milroy American Legion and the Loyal Order of Moose.
He loved his chocolate lab, Mocha.
His funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Bohn Funeral Home with Dick Gentzel officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park.
There will be no public viewing.
Charlotte Carson
LEWISTOWN - Charlotte Carson, 88, a resident of University Park Nursing Center, formerly of Lewistown, died at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday Jan. 29, 2003, at the nursing center.
Born Oct. 11, 1914, in Mill Creek, she was a daughter of the late Harry C. and Nellie M. (Hoffman) Carson.
Surviving is: a sister, Margaret M. Stroup, Fern Glen.
She was preceded in death by four bothers and five sisters .
Early in life she worked in Harrisburg, then later at Empire Kosher and last in the Tire Fabric department of American Viscose Corp.
Her graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday in Juniata Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Jacob T. Traxler officiating.

F. Barry Casner
MIFFLIN - F. Barry Casner, 63, of Mifflin, died at 6:02 a.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2003, at his home.
Born Aug. 11, 1939, in Walker Twp., Juniata County, he was a son of the late Frederick C. and Marjorie M. (Renninger) Casner.
Surviving are: a son, Gerald W. Casner, RR1 East Waterford; two daughters , Ellen L. Casner-Huff, Annville, and Jennifer J. Casner-Hockenberry, Newport; three brothers , Robert P. Casner, Mifflintown, Stanley B. Casner and William H. Casner, both of RR3 Mifflintown; four sisters , Esther Dunn, McAlisterville, Roxie Goshorn, RR5 Mifflintown, Sonja Hockenberry, Mifflin, and Marjorie Kistler, RR1 East Waterford; four grandsons and four granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by two brothers , Henry C. "Cal" Casner and Merrill S. Casner, and one grandson, Justin M. Casner.
He retired as a laborer from Juniata Garment, Inc., Mifflin.
He enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking, and garage sales.
His funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday from the Mifflintown Chapel of Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown, with Pastor Frances Smith officiating. Interment will be in Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery.

Michael A. Casner
MCCLURE - Michael A. Casner, 35, of 417 Hoffman Rd., McClure, died at 12:35 a.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2003, at his residence.
Born Aug. 26, 1967, in Lewistown, he was a son of Ronald W. and Sara J. (Yetter) Casner, of 485 Hoffman Rd., McClure. His wife, Jackie C. (Brown) Casner, survives.
Also surviving are: five children, Alex Casner, Jonathan Casner, Elizabeth Casner, Ann Brown, and David Brown, all of McClure; and a sister, Mrs. Ralph (Tina) Dunmire, McVeytown.
He was a truck driver for Zimmerman Truck Lines.
He was a Lutheran by faith and a former member of Decatur Fire Co.
His services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Bertha E. Chilcoat
AKRON - Bertha E. Chilcoat, 87, of 604 Oak St., Akron, formerly of Leola, died Thursday, April 10, 2003, at Maple Farm Nursing Center, Akron, after a lengthy illness.
Born in E. St. Clair Twp., she was the daughter of the late Elmer E. and Nettie Price Gates.
She owned and operated Chilcoat's Restaurant from 1945-86 in Osterburg, Bedford, East Freedom and Reedsville. She was the widow of Robert C. Chilcoat who died in 1993.
Surviving are: a daughter, Carol Chilcoat, Ephrata; a sister, Pearl Claycomb, Bedford; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers , Earl and Lewis Gates, and a sister, Mary Bagley.
She was a a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Leola. She was a past member and state officer for the Goldora Rebecca Lodge I.O.O.F and a member of the Women's Guild of United Church of Christ. She was a founder of Lady Lion's Club of East Freedom.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from Trinity UCC, Old Rt. 220, Osterburg, at 2 p.m. Monday. Interment will be in Bedford Co. Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call from noon until the time of the service at the church.

Paul Clark
HOLLIDAYSBURG - Paul Clark, 65, of Box 107, Hollidaysburg RR4, died Sunday evening, March 9, 2003, at Altoona Hospital, after an extended illness.
Born June 24, 1937, in Altoona, he was a son of Miles and Grace (Frederick) Clark. He married Kathryn Morrison April 28, 1962, in Bethany Lutheran Church, Altoona, she survives.
Also surviving are: a daughter, Tammy Bumgardner, Altoona; two sons , Paul Jr., and Todd, both of Altoona; seven sisters , Ethel McIntire and Lois Brindle, both of Hollidaysburg, Mary Butler, Doris "Blackie" Brindle, and Delores "Blondi" Chamberlain, all of Williamsburg, and Margaret Edwards of Martinsburg; his twin sister, Pauline Servello, Lakemont; three brothers , Howard and Daniel, both of Hollidaysburg, and Robert, Williamsburg; and 10 grandchildren, Christopher, Nickolas, Zachary, Brandon, Trevor, Dylan, Alec, Michael, Rachelle, and Quinton.
He was a retired machine operator for Warnaco, Altoona, with 25 years of service. He then worked as a chef at the Allegro at Scotch Valley Country Club for seven years.
He was a graduate of Hollidaysburg Senior High School.
He was a loving husband and Father . He enjoyed collecting antique oil lamps and indian relics. He enjoyed playing cards, especially pinochle, with his family and friends.
His funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Sorge Funeral Home, Hollidaysburg, with Rev. Randall J. Marburger officiating. Interment will be in Presbyterian Cemetery, Hollidaysburg.
Friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. and from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Rufus Ray 'Tex' Clark Sr.
REEDSVILLE - Rufus Ray "Tex" Clark Sr., 82, of 64 S. Main St., Reedsville, died at 3:15 a.m. Monday, May 19, 2003, at his residence.
Born Jan. 27, 1921, in Coleman, OK, he was a son of the late Edwin and Ola Belle (Walker) Clark. His wife, Virginia C. (Johnson) Clark, died Jan. 6, 1999.
Surviving are: a son, Rufus R. Clark, Jr. and his wife Linda, Marquez, TX; a step-granddaughter whom he raised, Beth Kough, Reedsville; a grandson, Matthew J. Clark, Kansas, OK; two step-children, Janice M. Neff, Duncansville, and Michael C. Kough, Lewistown; twin sister, Ruth Braxton, Amarillo, TX; a sister, Mary Lou Simpson, Pampa, TX; a half-sister, Loretta Henderson, OK; an aunt, Evelyn Hutson, Lufkin, TX; five step-great-grandchildren and four step-great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: a brother, Randall Clark; four half-brothers , Clifford Putman, Chester Putman, Barney Putman and Marvin J. Henderson.
He worked at Metlmex Corp., Lewistown, at New Holland, Belleville, and he owned and operated Big Valley Auction Center, Reedsville. He retired in 1985.
He served in the U.S. Army.
His funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Bohn Funeral Home, Reedsville, with Rev. John S. Walters and Ronald E. Neff officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park.

James M. Claybaugh
MILROY - James M. Claybaugh, 86, of 81 Center St., Milroy died at 12:50 p.m. Friday at Beverly Healthcare William Penn, Lewistown.
Born Feb. 23, 1917, in Doyles Mills, he is a son of the late Mary (Shaffer) and Fred Claybaugh. Surviving is his wife, Marie Emma (Smith), whom he married on Oct. 16, 1971.
Also surviving are: four sisters , Ethel Claybaugh, Florida, Anna Imes, Harrisburg, Jane Worley, McVeytown, Mae Hartman, Manheim; and a brother, Richard Claybaugh, Florida.
He was preceded in death by three brothers , George, Carl and William Claybaugh, and a sister.
He worked as a presser at Bethlehem Steel, Delaware, for 16 years. He is a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
He attended Milroy United Methodist Church.
A service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 23, at Bohn Funeral Home, Reedsville, and will be officiated by Rev. Bert Bown. Interment will be in Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal.

Isabelle L. Close
MILROY - Isabelle L. Close, 81, of 184 N. Main St. Milroy, died at 3 a.m. Monday, March 31, 2003, at her residence.
Born March 21, 1922, in Mifflin County, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Lillian (Mitchell) Mills. Her husband, Lewis Close, preceded her in death.
Surviving are: a son, Rodney L. Griffith and wife Connie, 921 Lower Creek Rd., Milroy; four sisters , Mildred Confer, Valley View Haven, Leona Goss, Anna Traxler, and Wanda Hook, all of Milroy; two grandchildren, Chris and Dana Griffith; and a great-grandson, Cadan.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Albert L. Mills.
She was employed by Arrow Shirt Factory Division of Cluett Peabody. She was a homemaker. She was a member of White Memorial United Church of Christ and J.O.Y Class of the Sunday School.
Her services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Karl H. Colabine
BURNHAM - Karl H. Colabine, 76, of 428 Locust Street, Burnham, died at 3:35 p.m. Thursday, June 26, 2003, at Lewistown Hospital.
Born Nov. 6, 1926, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Hazel W. Colabine. His wife, Clara (Osborne) Colabine, died June 4, 1983.
Surviving are: a daughter, Bonnie Sayers and husband Neil, Rutherfordton, NC; a son, Gary Colabine and wife Nina, Burnham; and Mrs. David (Paulette) Seiler of Lewistown, whom he helped raise; three grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.
Early in life he was a self employed Electrician. His last employment was with Rich Coast Coffee, Lewistown.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
He was a member of Newtown Fire Company.
His funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Heller-Hoenstine Burnham Funeral Home, First Ave., Burnham, with Rev. Thomas B. Morningstar officiating. Interment will be in Birch Hill Cemetery, Burnham.
Family will receive friends from noon until the service time Saturday at the funeral home. There will be no public viewing.
