Stephen Lee Brubaker
COUPON - Stephen Lee Brubaker, 52, of P.O. Box 41, Coupon, died unexpectedly Sunday, Feb. 9, 2003, at his home.
Born Dec. 10, 1950, in Altoona, he was the son of Herbert D. and Marie (Andrews) Brubaker of Belleville.
Also surviving are: brothers , John H. of Catasaugua and Gary S. of State College; and special companion, Kristine Harkleroad of Frederick, MD.
He was a 1968 graduate of Altoona Area High School.
He was an Army Ranger, serving as a sergeant with Co. E: First Bn. 101st Airborne Division. He was in charge of a five man reconnaissance team with I-Corp Vietnam. He received a Bronze Star and The Air Medal.
He was employed as an engineer for Norfolk Southern Railroad and had been with the railroad since 1974.
He was a member of the B of L.E. and North American Fishing Club. He enjoyed playing the guitar and banjo, fishing, kayaking, archery and traveling.
Private services will be held at the Daniel R. Myers Funeral Home, 501 Sixth Ave., Altoona, with Pastor Larry Siikenem officiating. Interment will be in Alto Reste Park, Altoona.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the D.A.V., P.O. Box 689, Altoona, PA 16603-0689.
A public memorial service will be held in the future, with the date and location to be announced.

PORT ROYAL - F. Lee Bryner, 95, of RR1 Port Royal, (Pleasant View), died Thursday, June 19, 2003, at Brookline Manor, RR1 Mifflintown.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Henry Funeral Home, Honey Grove.
Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. Sunday with the family present from 7-9 p.m.
Sue P. Buckwalter
LEWISTOWN - Sue P. Buckwalter, 94, of William Penn, Lewistown, formerly of Jack's Creek Road, died at 1:05 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, 2003, at the nursing home.
Born Sept. 13, 1908, in Bailey, she was a daughter of the late Abram and Phoebe (Soles) Paige. Her husband, John E. Buckwalter, died 1974.
Surviving are: a son, John A. Buckwalter and wife Martha, 400 Jack's Creek Rd., Lewistown; a granddaughter and a great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by a brother and sister.
She worked in Dr. Sivitz Office as a medical assistant.
She was a member of Paintersville Christian Missionary Alliance Church.
Her private graveside service will be in Juniata Memorial Park, with Rev. George Marks officiating.

Jean Burkholder
REEDSVILLE - Jean Burkholder, 73, of 159 W. Colonial Drive, Reedsville, died at 8:08 p.m. Thursday, May 8, 2003, at Lewistown Hospital.
Born Sept. 18, 1929, in Williamsburg, PA, she was a daughter of the late John C. and Margaret V. (Roarabaugh) Wert. Her husband, John I. Burkholder, preceded her in death on Nov. 1, 1994.
Surviving are a son, Douglas John Burkholder and his companion, Holly Johnson, 159 W. Colonial Drive, Reedsville, and her children, Tabitha Johnson, at home, and Jack and Carrie Knarr, Lewistown.
She was preceded in death by an infant sister, Dorothy Louise Wert.
She retired from Jamesway Department Store, where she had worked in the shoe department for many years.
She attended Highland Park Presbyterian Church.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hoenstine Funeral Home Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with Murray Laite officiating. Interment will be in Lind Memorial Cemetery.
Family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Alma G. Burns
REEDSVILLE - Alma G. Burns, 87, of Reedsville, died at 10:04 a.m. Sunday, June 8, 2003, at Ralph Warren County Home, Youngsville.
Born Dec. 17, 1915, in Burnham, she was a daughter of the late Rudolph G. and Sara Maude (Summers) Zook. Her husband, Earl G. "Pat" Burns, died May 4, 1974.
Surviving are: a sister, Sarah Z. Dicks, Warren; and a niece, Carol Hamilton, Russell.
She worked in the Cake Converting Dept. of American Viscose Corp., for 25 years, retiring in 1972.
She was a Methodist by faith.
Graveside services will be at the convenience of the family under the direction of Heller-Hoenstine Burnham Funeral Home, Inc., at Church Hill Cemetery, Reedsville.

Catherine I. Butler
BELLEVILLE - Catherine I. Butler, 84, of Valley View Haven, Belleville, formerly of 122 Shaw Ave., Lewistown, died at 8:20 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2003, at Valley View Haven, Belleville.
Born Nov. 21, 1918, in Vira, she was a daughter of the late George and Ida M. (Knepp) Harbst. Her husband, Harry W. Butler, died June 8, 1979.
Surviving are: two children, Mrs. Jay (Sandra) Middaugh and Harry J. Butler, both of Lewistown; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two nephews.
She was the last of her immediate family having been preceded in death by two brothers , a sister, three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and two nephews.
She worked in the kitchen at F.W. Black Hospital and was a chorewoman for Central PA Broadcasting Company.
She was a member of Key to Life Church of God, Lewistown, a member and past president of Henderson Fire Company Auxiliary, a member and past president of Brooklyn Fire Company Auxiliary and Mifflin County Firemen's Auxiliary.
A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with Rev. Jacob T. Traxler officiating. Private interment will be in Birch Hill Cemetery, Burnham.
Family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until the service time Friday at the funeral home. There will be no public viewing.
Sadie L. Byler
BELLEVILLE - Sadie L. Byler, 86, of 270 Diesel Drive, Belleville, died at 1:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, 2003, at her home.
Born Nov. 29, 1916, in Belleville, she was a daughter of the late Daniel Y. and Lydia L. (Byler) Hostetler. Her husband, Emanuel L. Byler, preceded her in death on May 29, 1982.
Surviving are: children, Daniel H. Byler, Henry E. Byler, Mrs. Israel (Salinda) Peachey and Norman E. Byler, all of Belleville; and Willie E. Byler, Lewistown, Sylvia E. Byler and Emanuel J. Byler and a granddaughter, Karen N. Byler, all at home; 32 grandchildren and 85 great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by a grandson, Daniel A. Peachey, on Sept. 13, 1993, six great-grandchildren and a brother, Elmer Hostetler.
She was homemaker.
She was a member of Rock Haven Mennonite Church, 146 Peachey Road, Belleville.
Her funeral service is at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Rock Haven Mennonite Church, Belleville, with Amos J. Peachey and Elmer Swarey officiating. Interment will be Rock Haven Mennonite Cemetery.
Friends may call 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. today at the church.

Thomas J. Byler
SPRING DRIVE - Thomas J. Byler, 73, of 28 Spring Drive, Martinsburg, formerly of Phoenix, AZ, was able to remain in his home until he went home peacefully to be with the Lord Saturday morning, Feb. 15, 2003.
Born March 29, 1929, in Belleville, a son of the late Thomas J. and Ada M. (Glick) Byler. He married Mary M. Byler on Feb. 17, 1951, at Allensville Mennonite Church, she survives.
Also surviving are: five sons , James and Conrad, both of rural Martinsburg, Larry of Ephrata, Donald of Connecticut and Barry of Arizona; 11 precious grandchildren; three brothers , Marvin D., Centerport, and John M. Sr., and Earnest R., both of Belleville; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers , Wilmer and Lester.
He attended Martinsburg Grace Brethren Church.
He retired as owner of T&M Tile in 1997 and previously was a dairy farmer herdsman for the former Dar-Wil Dairy, Martinsburg RR1.
He enjoyed gospel quartet music, gardening and most of all his grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Martinsburg Grace Brethren Church with Pastor James S. Laird Sr., officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.
Friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at John C. Bolger Funeral Home, Inc., Martinsburg.
The family prefers that memorial contributions be give to the Martinsburg Grace Brethren Church.
George I. Camp
BURNHAM - George I. Camp, 80, of 427 First Ave., Burnham, died at 12:30 a.m. Thursday, March 6, 2003, at Ohesson Manor Nursing Home, Lewistown.
Born Sept. 29, 1922, in Milton, he was a son of the late Rufus and Lilian (Dippery) Camp. His wife, Ruth A. (Barger) Camp, died Feb. 8, 1994.
Surviving are: six children, Mrs. Gerald (Brenda) Hook, Reedsville, Mrs. Richard (Sharon) Koontz, Lewistown, Mrs. Robert (Darla) Charlesworth, Lewistown, Mrs. Danny (Ruth) Parson, Reedsville, George I. Camp, Jr., Lewistown, and Mrs. Stephen (Jane) Alcala, Mt. Kisko, NY; and 17 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a half brother, Joseph Dippery.
He was a plumber. He worked for Jack Hess Construction, Burnham, retiring in 1987.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, in the European Theatre in the 259th Field Artillery Battalion.
He attended Trinity United Methodist Church, Lewistown.
His funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with Rev. James Phillips officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park with graveside military services by VFW Post 7011, Lewistown.
Family will receive friends7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Jean W. Campbell
PORT ROYAL - Jean W. Campbell, 83, of Locust Grove Retirement Village, HC 67, Mifflin, formerly of RR2 Port Royal, died at 9:23 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, 2003, in Lewistown Hospital.
Born Feb. 16, 1919, in Port Royal, she was a daughter of the late Charles Ross and Adda Jane (Souder) Wharton. Her husband, L. Franklin Campbell, died Feb. 23, 1976.
Surviving are: three daughters , Marian K. Deamer, RR2 Thompsontown, Mrs. Fred (Nancy) Sherwood, RR1 McClure, Mrs. Thomas (Sally) Willow, RR1 Thompsontown; a son, George and Louise Campbell, RR3 Port Royal; 11 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 2 step-great-grandchildren.
She was the last of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by one brother Ross Charles Wharton and two sisters , Maxine Barton and Mary Kepler.
She retired in 1981 from the former Rae-Sel Corp., Port Royal as a seamstress.
She was a 1935 graduate of Port Royal High School.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, Mifflintown.
Her funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Rex Funeral Home, Port Royal with Rev. Ronald L. Shupe officiating. Interment will be in Old Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal.
A visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, with closed casket, at the funeral home.
