Rebecca H. 'Becky' Britcher
MIFFLINTOWN - Rebecca H. "Becky" Britcher, 84, of Brookline Manor Convalescent Home, RR1 Mifflintown, and formerly of Cuba Mills, died at 4:45 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, 2003, at the manor.
Born Sept. 18, 1918, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Emory J. and Sudie (Howell) Heeter Sr. Her husband, James R. Britcher, whom she married March 9, 1935, preceded her in death on Sept. 17, 1996.
Surviving are: two daughters , Sue E. Slautterback, RR4 Mifflintown, and Sally R. Fogleman, RR1 Mifflintown; three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers , Emory J. "Curly" Heeter Jr., and William Stumpf.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Mifflin.
She was employed by Knepps Butcher Shop, Cuba Mills.
Her interests were flower gardening and bird watching.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday from the Mifflintown Chapel of Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown with Donald W. "Saint" Prye officiating. Interment will be in Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown.
A viewing will be held from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Virginia E. Britcher
ARCH ROCK - Virginia E. Britcher, 82, of Arch Rock (RR1 Box 1033, Mifflintown), died at 1:40 a.m. Friday, Feb. 7, 2003, at her home.
Born Sept. 1, 1919, in Altoona, she was a son of the late Bert and Erma (Ronk) Maines. Her husband, Jay E. "Jake" Britcher, survives at home.
Also surviving are a daughter and son, Erma "Pam" Richardson of Port Royal and David J. Britcher of RR1, Mifflintown; two sisters , Mrs. Ross (Lucille) Gerhart of Sebring, FL and Mrs. Ernest (Helena) Hippo of St. Augustine, FL; nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by two sons , Samuel B. Warner and David Michael Warner Sr., and a sister, Jean Allan.
She was a 1938 graduate of Altoona High School.
Early in her life, she was a seamstress for Juniata Garment, Mifflin.
She served a term as Fermanagh Township Tax Collector.
She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Mifflintown, and Mifflin Chapter #260 Order of the Eastern Star.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Messiah Lutheran Church, Mifflintown, with Rev. William N. Esborn officiating. Interment will be in Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown.
Family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Sunday and the Rex Funeral Home, Port Royal, and from 10 a.m. until the time of service Monday at the church. Eastern Star services will be at 8:45 p.m. Sunday at funeral home.

Rachel A. Brode
LEWISTOWN - Rachel A. Brode, 96, of Ohesson Manor Nursing Home, formerly of 116 Luther Dr., Lewistown, died at 1:18 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2003, at the nursing home.
Born Oct. 22, 1906 in Todd, Huntingdon County, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Maggie (Rickenbaugh) Scott. Her husband, Frank D. Brode, whom she married June 1, 1929, survives.
Also surviving are: son, Gerald Duane Brode, Virginia Beach, VA; two grandchildren and a great-grandaughter.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters .
She was a homemaker and member of Grove Memorial United Methodist Church where she taught in the children's department of Sunday school.
Her funeral service will held at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Hoenstine Funeral Home, Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown, PA 17044, with Pastor D. Gregory Lake officiating. .Interment will be at Juniata Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends 10 a.m. Saturday, until time of service at the funeral home.

Barbara J. Brookins
THOMPSONTOWN - Barbara J. Brookins, 31, of Thompsontown, died at 9:31 a.m. Friday, April 18, 2003, at Hershey Medical Center, Hershey.
Born Feb. 24, 1972, in Derry Township, Mifflin County, she was a daughter of David J. and Eleanor R. (Swartz) Dustin of Thompstown. Her husband, Philip D. Brookins, whom she married Nov. 11, 1989, survives.
Also surviving are two daughters , Ashley Marie Brookins and Sara Ellen Brookins, both at home; two sisters , Kelly J. Dustin, Thompsontown, and Marguerite E. Ouderkirk, Petoskey, MI; and maternal grandparents, James E. Swartz, Mexico, and Earl and Barbara A. Nickel, Thompsontown.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Melinda Sue Dustin, on Nov. 8, 2002.
She was a homemaker.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday from the McAlisterville Chapel of Brown Funeral Homes Inc., 16 Westfall St., McAlisterville, with Rev. William P. Luckadoo officiating. Interment will follow in Maze Cemetery, RR1 Thompsontown.
A viewing will be held 4-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the family present 7-9 p.m.
William R. "Bill" Brought
MIDDLEBURG - William R. "Bill" Brought, 65, of Middleburg, died at Feb. 15, 2003, at his home.
Born March 22, 1937, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Russell W. and Charlotte (Bingaman) Brought.
Friends may call 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Hummel Funeral Home, Middleburg.
His funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Beavertown God's Missionary Church.
Ann S. Brown
LEWISTOWN - Ann S. Brown of Philadelphia and formerly of Lewistown, died Friday, Aug. 22, 2003.
Born April 24, 1926, in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of Joseph and Katherine (Saladiak) Stabelski.
She is survived by: her daughters , Allison Brown of Thailand, Kimberly Haigis of Vermont, and son Joseph Brown of Hershey; her son-in-law, Kurt Haigis and granddaughters Lillian and Charlotte Haigis of Vermont; daughter-in- law, Susan Brown and grandsons Nicholas and Alexander Metz of Hershey. Ann is also survived by: her brother, Joseph Stabelski of Philadelphia and sisters , Joan Stabelski of Philadelphia, and Dorothy Jurek of New Jersey and numerous nieces and nephews.
Daniel C. 'Danny Boy' Brown
DENVER, CO - Musician/Sprinkler Man, 47, Daniel C. "Danny Boy" Brown of Denver, CO, died March 12, 2003.
Son of Gerald F. Brown and Willa J. Brown. Brother of Patricia Ammer, Gerald Brown Jr., Linda Epley, Christina Phipps and Tom Brown. Also survived by an abundance of nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be from 10-2 p.m. Saturday. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2 p.m. Saturday. Both services will be at Archdiocese of Denver Mortuary.
Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, 12801 West 44th Ave. Wheat Ridge, CO.
George W. 'G.B.' Brown
LEWISTOWN - George W. "G.B."Brown, 74, of 89 Pine Drive, Lewistown, died at 2 p.m. Monday, June 9, 2003, at Malta Home, Granville.
Born Nov. 8, 1928, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late George and Esther (Rager) Brown. His wife, Betty A. Grove Brown, whom he married Sept. 19, 1953, survives.
Also surviving are: four daughters , Mrs. Richard (Connie) Huff, Jr., Mifflintown, Mrs. Ralph (Katherine) Hassinger, Jr., Mrs. Merle (Georgia) Cramer, Sr., and Mrs. Harold (Darla) Adams, all of Lewistown; a brother, Oscar Brown, Lewistown; two sisters , Barbara Stringfellow, Lewistown and Helen Gasper, Snow Shoe; 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, a grandchild and two great-grandchildren.
He worked at Sitkins Industries for 28 years.
He served in the U.S. Army during the
Korean War.
His funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan St., Lewistown, with Rev. Donald Peters officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park.

Gerald F. 'McKeever' Brown Jr.
MIFFLIN - Gerald F. "McKeever" Brown Jr., 59, of Mifflin, died at 4:15 a.m. Friday, March 21, 2003, at his home.
Born April 15, 1943, in Mercer, Mercer County, he was a son of the late Gerald F. "Brownie" and Willa J. (Coder) Brown Sr.
Surviving are a son, Troy Brown, East Waterford; two daughters , Rhonda J. Meily, Liverpool, and Tammy Rowles, Annville; three sisters , Patricia Spier Ammer, Denver, CO, Linda L. Epley, Carlisle, and Christina J. Brown-Phipps, Mechanicsburg; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Daniel C. Brown, on March 12, 2003.
He was an iron worker.
He enjoyed Indy and NASCAR racing and was an avid Notre Dame football fan.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday from the Mifflintown Chapel of Brown Funeral Homes Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown, with Pastor David A. Cook officiating. Interment will follow in Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown.

Dorothy C. Brubaker
MIFFLIN - Dorothy C. Brubaker, 94, of Locust Grove Retirement Village, HC 63 Mifflin, and formerly of East Salem, died at 4:20 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003, at the village.
Born July 22, 1909, in Cocolamus, Juniata County, she was the daughter of the late Cloyd and Ella Nora (Hain) Frymoyer. Her husband, Lloyd R. Brubaker, whom she married June 3, 1930, preceded her in death on Aug. 5, 1998.
She is survived by: two sons , Larry Brubaker, Myerstown and Wilbur Brubaker, RR2 Mifflintown; two daughters , Mrs. Joseph (Thelma) Petriskie, Memphis, TN and Mrs. Rev. Neil (Jeanie) Rendall, McAlisterville; 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
She was the oldest and the last of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by a sister, Pauline Frymoyer, and three brothers , Arthur Frymoyer, Lester Frymoyer, and Marlin Frymoyer.
For 18 years she had served as a teachers aid at the State School, Selinsgrove, and she along with her late husband, co-owned the Dor-Loy Poultry Farm for 25 years.
She was a member and former Sunday School teacher of the East Salem United Methodist Church and past president of the East Salem United Methodist Women Society. She was also a member of the Women's Christian Temperance Union.
She was a 1929 graduate of Fayette High School, McAlisterville.
She enjoyed crocheting, loved spending time in her flower gardens, especially growing roses. She was very musically inclined, being able to play the organ, piano and the accordion, her greatest joy was being a loving grandmother and spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Her funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday from the East Salem United Methodist Church, East Salem with Rev. Allen Hulslander and Rev. Richard H. Burchfield officiating. Interment will be in East Salem Cemetery, East Salem.
Friends may call from 4-9 p.m., with family present from 7-9 p.m. today at the McAlisterville Chapel of Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 16 Westfall St., McAlisterville.

Marie I. Brubaker
BELLEVILLE - Marie I. Brubaker, 82, of Valley View Terrace, Belleville, died at 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, 2003, at Valley View Haven.
Born Dec. 19, 1920, in Tyrone, she was a daughter of the late Orlando and Ida (Turner) Andrews. She is survived by her husband, Herbert D. Brubaker, whom she married on May 10 , 1941.
Also surviving are: children, John H. and his wife, Heide, Brubaker, Catasauqua, and Gary S. and his wife, Jane, Brubaker, State College; sister and brother, Evelyn Miller, Altoona and Paul Andrews, Myrtle Beach, SC; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Watts Memorial United Methodist Church, Belleville, a former member of the Broad Avenue United Methodist Church, Altoona and a member of various square dance groups in State College and Altoona. She also enjoyed working at home as a seamstress for the former Ms. Barnes Dance Studio in Altoona, making dance costumes.
Marie was a resident of Valley View for a number of years, also serving as an active volunteer.
Because Marie loved to gather her family and friends on many occasions, please gather with us to celebrate her life on Wednesday, with viewing/visitation time 9-10 a.m. and a 10 a.m. service at the Valley View Haven Chapel and 2-3 p.m. viewing/visitation time and 3 p.m. service at the Good Funeral Home at the Alto-Reste Cemetery, Altoona. Rev. Larry Siikanen will officiate.
