ANNETTE MARIE DeROSE

Annette Marie DeRose, 83, of Greensburg, died Tuesday, April 11, 2000, in Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. She was born Jan. 7, 1917, in Oswego, N.Y., a daughter of the late Joseph DiBellis and Mary (Collittie) Bocco. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert G. DeRose; son, Daniel Walter DeRose; and sisters , Genivive Thayer, Margaret Meglino and Josephine Tronolone. Surviving are her children, Albert J. DeRose of Greensburg and Debborah Anne Woodfork of Washington , Pa.; brother, Walter O'Brien of Rome, N.Y.; and sisters , Grace O'Neil of Oswego, N.Y., and Mary Griffiths of Hawaii. Also survived by grandsons, Albert J. DeRose and Gregory Woodfork; great-grandson, James E. DeRose; and great-granddaughters, Pryechia and Rochelle Woodfork. Friends will be received at the KEPPLE-GRAFT FUNERAL HOME INC., 524 N. Main St., Greensburg, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. in St. Vincent Basilica. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Sharpsburg.

EDWARD J. FERRI

Edward J. Ferri, 70, of Murrysville, died Tuesday, April 11, 2000, in UPMC Shadyside, Pittsburgh. He was born March 22, 1930, in Turtle Creek, a son of the late Joseph and Mary Lazzeri Ferri. He was the CEO and president of Ferri Enterprises of Murrysville. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving with the U.S.M.C. He was a member of the mother of Sorrows Church, Murrysville American Legion, National Federation of Independent Businesses, Civic Light Opera Guild, Frick Art and Historical Center, National Train Collectors Association, and Fort Pitt Train Collections Association. He was a member and Paul Harris Fellow of the Murrysville Export Rotary Club and he served on the Murrysville Streetscape Committee and the Advisory Board of Southwest Bank. He also was Santa Claus for many years at Clelian Heights. He was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Ferri, in 1997. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Carole Petterson Ferri; a daughter, Karen Ferri and her husband, James Beebout, of Export; a son, John Ferri and his wife, Beth, of Murrysville; six grandchildren, Megan, Emily, Nathan, and Anna Ferri, and Isabella and Alexandra Beebout; three brothers , Eugene of Murrysville, Daniel of Jeannette, and William of Murrysville; a number of nieces and nephews; four uncles, Mario Ferri, and William, Peter, and Andrew Lazzeri; and three aunts, Madeline Stefancik, Irene Kulick, and Dolores Emery. Visitation Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the JOHN T. HART FUNERAL HOME, Murrysville. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. in the mother of Sorrows Church, Murrysville. Interment will follow in the Grandview Cemetery, Export. If desired, memorials may be made to the Edward J. Ferri Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Southwest Bank, 3880 Old William Penn Highway, Murrysville, PA 15668.

MARJORIE JEAN HALSTEAD

Marjorie Jean Halstead, on Monday, April 10, 2000, at her residence in Wilkins Township. Miss Halstead was born Nov. 29, 1950, in Pittsburgh, to the late Jeremiah and Mary Jane Halstead. Miss Halstead was a nurse at the Shadyside Hospital. She was the loving sister of Jerry Halstead and his wife, Margaret, of Georgetown, Pa., and Sharon Rodahaver of Monroeville. Stepdaughter of Florence Halstead of Swissvale; stepsister of Michael Smith and Michelle Salvetti; aunt of Kristine Price, Julie Halstead, Jill Rodahaver, Karsten Lippert and Christopher French. Friends will be received from 1 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. THURSDAY ONLY at the THOMAS L. NIED FUNERAL HOME INC., 7441 Washington St., Swissvale. A service will be held at the funeral home Friday at 10:30 a.m. Private interment at Restland Memorial Park, Monroeville. The family requests memorial contributions to the Hospice of Greater Pittsburgh, 3520 Route 130, Suite 3001, Irwin, PA 15642. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 13, at 2 p.m. in the First Unitarian Church, Shadyside.

VIOLET T. MILLER

Violet T. Miller, 95, of Greensburg RD9, died Monday, April 10, 2000, in Jeannette District Memorial Hospital. She was born Sept. 14, 1904, in Jeannette, a daughter of the late Edward M. and Julia Dunmire Miller. She was a lifetime member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Jeannette. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles H. Miller; two sons , Kenneth and Lewis Miller; a grandson, Timothy Miller; a great-granddaughter, Theresa Pore; two sisters , Minerva Mertz and Susie Miller; and three brothers , the Rev. Edward Miller, Thomas Miller and Samuel Miller. She is survived by two daughters , Violet Pore of West Newton and Dorothy Heltebran of Wyano; two sons , the Rev. Charles Miller and his wife, Fay, of Antioch, Ill., and Alfred Miller and his wife, Ada, of Canfield, Ohio; a sister, Florence Keffer of Grapeville; a brother, Lewis Miller of Latrobe; 17 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received in the MASON-GELDER FUNERAL HOME INC., 201 N. First St., Jeannette, Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. in the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Jeannette, with the Rev. Daniel R. Defassio officiating. Interment will follow in Brush Creek Cemetery, Hempfield Township.

THOMAS F. POOLE

Thomas F. Poole, 64, of Greensburg, died Monday, April 10, 2000, in Hempfield Township. He was born Aug. 16, 1935, in Baltimore, Md., a son of the late Franklin and Marie Rosche Poole. He was a retired employee of Keystone Concrete Pipe Co. in Bovard. He had served in the U.S. Army and was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Trauger and the VFW Post in Schellsburg. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Frank I. Poole; and an infant sister. He is survived by his uncle, Walter Poole of Baggaley; his three aunts, Emma Smeltzer of Mutual, Vivian Freeman of Lycippus and D. Louise Elder of Greensburg; his loving companion, Margaret Schwarzel of Greensburg; and his good friend, Charles A. Heasley of New Alexandria. Friends received at the KEPPLE-GRAFT FUNERAL HOME INC., 524 N. Main St., Greensburg, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Services will be held at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Trauger Thursday at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Kurt Kusserow officiating. PLEASE GO DIRECTLY TO THE CHURCH. Interment will follow in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Trauger.

JOHN S. RILEY JR.

John S. Riley Jr., 72, of Greensburg, died Tuesday, April 11, 2000, in the Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. He was born April 13, 1927, in Greensburg, a son of the late John Stanley Sr. and Elizabeth Whalen Riley. Prior to retirement, he had been a painter working out of Union Local 409, and was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Church of St. Paul, Greensburg. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Viola J. Sova Riley, on Aug. 20, 1996; by a brother, Robert Riley, in 1978; and a sister, JoAnne D'Alessandro, in 1992. He is survived by two sons , Larry A. and his wife, Connie Riley, of Southwest Greensburg and Daniel and his wife, Valerie Riley, of Jeannette; a daughter, Bethanne Christner of Southwest Greensburg and her fiance, Michael Ross; a grandson, Shawn Christner of Greensburg; two sisters , Mrs. Anthony (Eileen) Pereira of Greensburg and Rosemary Kelley of Las Vegas, Nev.; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 516 Stanton at Green streets, Greensburg, Thursday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. A blessing service will be held in the funeral home Friday at 9 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. in the Church of St. Paul, Greensburg. Interment will follow in the Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Hempfield Township. Family suggests memorial contributions to the American Heart Association, 615 S. Main St., Greensburg, PA 15601, or the American Cancer Society, 1011 Old Salem Road, Greensburg, PA 15601.

JOSEPH A. SALANDRA

Joseph A. Salandra, 53, of Delmont, died Sunday, April 9, 2000, in his loving home. He was born Nov. 1, 1946, in Connellsville, a son of the late Angelo J. and Theresa (Capo) Salandra. Joseph was a systems analyst for Mellon Bank and a member of St. John Baptist de la Salle Church of Delmont. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Carol (Tagliati) Salandra; a daughter, Dana Seaman and husband, Robert, of Delmont; a son, Kevin Salandra of Export; three brothers , Angelo, Louis and Ernest Salandra, all of Connellsville; three grandchildren; two aunts, Lucy Sepesi and Toni Alphonse; and several nieces and nephews. The family received relatives and friends at the VAIA FUNERAL HOME INC. AT TWIN VALLEY, 463 Athena Drive, Delmont, (724) 468-1177, Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Joseph's Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in St. John Baptist de la Salle Church, with the Rev. William C. McGuirk as celebrant. Interment will follow in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont. A vigil service will be held Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the American Diabetes Association, 300 Penn Center Blvd., Suite 700, Pittsburgh, PA 15235. Kevin P. RICHARD W. SMITH

Richard W. "Smitty" Smith, 71, of Greensburg, died Sunday, April 9, 2000, at Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. He was born Jan. 31, 1929, in Westmoreland City, a son of the late George B. and Mathilda Commons Smith. Prior to retirement, he had been employed by the Jeannette Glass and was a social member of the Bovard Firemen's Club. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy L. Gerber Smith, on Nov. 30, 1953; and two brothers , George D. and Robert Paul Smith. He is survived by his daughters , Dorothy M. and her husband, Larry Caldwell, of Greensburg RD1, Marlene and her husband, David J. Righino, of Greensburg, and Deborah L. and her husband, Mark Zyvith, of Bovard; nine grandchildren, Gregory, Trisha, and Shelly Caldwell, Kimberly Altman, Dawn O'Neal and Amy Righino, Mark Zyvith, Deborah Altman, and Anita Katonka; 10 great-grandchildren, Shawna, Kayla, Joshua, David, Brent, Briana, Justin, Katie, Shane, and Ryan; four brothers , James Smith of Arizona, John Smith of California, Thomas Smith of Irwin, and Harry Smith of Alabama; four sisters , Laura Smith of Alabama, Marie Ritz of Florida, Faye Bercia of Arizona, and Nancy Kerlin of Alabama; several nieces and nephews; and his former wife, Melva Jean Weyandt Smith of Greensburg. Friends received at the BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 516 Stanton at Green streets, Greensburg, Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home Friday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Daniel J. Rogers officiating. Entombment will follow in the St. Clair Mausoleum, Hempfield Township.

CATHERINE B. VLASICK

Catherine B. Vlasick, of Monroeville, formerly of Swissvale, died Monday, April 10, 2000. Sister of Thomas J. Vlasick and his wife, Eileen, of North Huntingdon, Anna May Chanyi and her husband, John, of Swisshelm Park and the late Peter J. Vlasick and his wife, Helen, of Wilkinsburg. Also survived by nieces and nephews. Friends received Wednesday 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the THOMAS L. NIED FUNERAL HOME INC., 7441 Washington St., Swissvale. PAULA A. DUFFEY WAYDA

Paula A. Duffey Wayda, 38, of Latrobe, died Tuesday, April 11, 2000, at Latrobe Area Hospital. She was born Aug. 7, 1961, in Latrobe, a daughter of Paul A. Duffey and the late Shirley A. Garris. She was a teacher's aide for Derry Christian Academy. Paula has gone home with the Lord. She was a member of the Monroeville Assembly of God and the Ladies Bible Study. Memorial donations may be made in care of the family at 921 Burns St., Latrobe, PA 15650. She is survived by her husband, Brian D. Wayda; three sons , Austin Tyler Wayda at home, and Brian A. Graham and Charles A. Graham, both of Homer City; three brothers , James L. Duffey, Michael Duffey, and Richard S. Garris, all of Blairsville; and three sisters , Mrs. Lee (Diane L.) Prosser of Somerset, Mrs. Richard (Mary E.) Parry of Jeannette, and Mrs. Bill (Angela M.) Hoyman of Blairsville. Donna M. Briggs, 59, of Library, on Wednesday, April 12, 2000. Beloved wife of Jay E. mother of Dayna Michele and Jay E. Jr. Sister of Kathleen Shanahan, Maryann Paranzino, Terry Keller, Robert Keller, Michael Scherbo and Albert Keller. Visitation 2 to 9 p.m. Friday at the DAVID J. CAROL L. (TOMPKINS) BUSHNELL

Carol L. (Tompkins) Bushnell, 57, of Yukon, died Thursday, April 13, 2000, at IHS of Greater Pittsburgh at Greensburg. She was born Jan. 30, 1943, in Greensburg, a daughter of Doris M. Dean Tompkins of Adamsburg and the late Wade E. Tompkins Sr., who died in 1982. She was a member of the Grace United Church of Christ, Yukon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jay A. Bushnell Sr., in 1970. In addition to her mother , she is survived by two sons , Jay A. Bushnell Jr. and Jeff A. Bushnell, both of Yukon; two grandchildren, Jessica and Justin Bushnell; a brother, Wade E. Tompkins Jr. and his wife, Linda, of Herminie; and four nieces. Friends will be received at the BEATTY-RICH FUNERAL HOME INC., Route 136, Madison, Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held in the funeral home Monday at 11 a.m. with her pastor, the Rev. James H. Ghrist, officiating. Interment will follow in the West Newton Cemetery, West Newton.

MARC S. D'AGOSTINO

Marc S. D'Agostino, 41, of Ligonier RD2, died Wednesday, April 12, 2000. He was born Dec. 3, 1958, in Melbourne, Mass., the son of Joseph D'Agostino of Massachusetts and the late Virginia Tuttle D'Agostino. He was a self-employed motorcycle mechanic. In addition to his Father , he is survived by his stepmother, Claire D'Agostino; his wife, Sharon Brunner D'Agostino; three stepchildren, James Miller of Export, Kathryn Lambrecht of Saltsburg and Jaison Miller of Ligonier RD2; and two grandsons, Allen Lambrecht and Benjamin Miller. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
