LOUIS BOHINCE
Louis Bohince, 81, of Penn Township, died Thursday, April 6, 2000, in Forbes Regional Hospital, Monroeville. He was born June 5, 1918, in Pleasant Valley, a son of the late Valentine and Mary Perko Bohince. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as an inspector for Westinghouse in East Pittsburgh. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of St. Barbara's Church, Harrison City, the S.N.P.J. Lodge #7 in Pleasant Valley, and the Trafford American Legion. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by eight brothers , John, Joseph, Bill, Frank, Rudy, Victor, Sam, and Merle Bohince; and a sister, Mary Batis. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Therese Janets Bohince; a son, Mel Louis and wife, Jeannie, of Level Green; a daughter, Mary Lu and husband, Jan Crouse, of Southaven, Miss.; and four grandchildren, Mark and Kelly Crouse, and Mathew and Dayna Bohince. SISTER AURELIA GIULIA BONAVOLONTA
Sister Aurelia Giulia Bonavolonta, 90, of Mt. Pleasant RD2, Bullskin Township, of the Verna Montessori School, died Friday, April 7, 2000, in Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant. Born July 14, 1909, in Marigliano, Naples, Italy, she was a daughter of the late Giuseppe and Vincenza Mautone Bonavolonta. Sister Aurelia was a member of the sisters of Charity of the Immaculate Conception of Ivrea (S.C.I.C.) and was in her 67th year of religious life. She arrived with a small group of sisters in the U.S.A. on Aug. 18, 1961, as mother superior of her religious community with mandate to establish a new mission. She worked tirelessly to fulfill her responsibility toward her congregation and the local church. Through her life Sister Aurelia reflected the image of the wise woman described in the ninth chapter of the Book of Proverbs, especially, "She opens her mouth in wisdom, and on her tongue is kindly counsel." (Prov.9:26) Her example of selfless giving, her strong, motherly touch, enduring patience in her long illness will be treasured by all those who had the privilege to meet her. In her motherly heart she had a very special place for the children whom she dearly loved and for whom she desired the very best. She has left her sisters , relatives and friends a legacy of initiative, inventiveness, generosity, love and devoted service. In addition to the sisters of Ivrea, she is survived by her brother, Ralph Bonavolonta and his wife, Mary, from New Jersey; brother, Luigi, and her sister, Sister Ancilla, both of Italy; sister-in-law Rosa; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Mario. Friends will be received Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at GALONE-CARUSO'S, 204 Eagle St., Mt. Pleasant. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at 11 a.m. in St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church, Mt. Pleasant, with Father Michael W. Matusak as celebrant. Interment in St. Pius X Parish Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant. The sisters of Ivrea suggest contributions be made to Verna Montessori School to a memorial fund in honor of Sister Aurelia Bonavolonta.

Eilene Ann Bower-Brant, 56, of Latrobe, formerly of Circleville, Ohio, died Wednesday, April 5, 2000, after a brief illness. She was the beloved daughter of Cecil Bower and the late Clara Bower. Sister of Naomi (John) Bright. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Brant. Memorial services will be held Sunday at 7 p.m. both in Latrobe at the Bethany United Methodist Church, and in Kingston, Ohio, at the Kingston United Methodist Church. She was born March 25, 1933, in Hempfield Township, a daughter of the late Alvin and Sarah Rugh Klingensmith. She was a loving wife and mother . John G. Cannon, 84, of Greensburg, formerly of Ridgewood Manor, died Sunday, April 2, 2000, in Redstone Highlands, Greensburg. He was born Aug. 5, 1915, in Frankfort, Del., a son of the late John G. and Hettie Lingo Cannon. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Greensburg, formerly of the Beulah Presbyterian Church in Churchill. He was a retired manager and vice president with the Strategic Engineering Department and later the Product Planning and Analysis Department of Westinghouse Airbrake. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Lois Shields Cannon; and his brother, R. Cannon. Surviving are his wife, Ruth W. Cannon; children, John R. Cannon and wife, Phyllis, of Emporia, Va., Judith Ulmer and husband, Stephen, of Summerville, S.C., Nancy Kline and husband, Jeffrey, of Oakmont and Gary Cannon and wife, Pamela, of Roswell, Ga.; and stepchildren, Terrence N. Thompson of Orlando, Fla., and Linda Thompson London of Westmount, Canada. Also survived by 12 grandchildren. There will be no public viewing. James William Clark, 83, of Ligonier, died Friday, April 7, 2000, in Bethlen Home, Ligonier Township. He was born Feb. 5, 1917, in Blairsville, the®MDBO¯ ®MDNM¯son of the late Russell and Myrtle Clark. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed as an administrator of custodial services for D.C. General Hospital. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the rank of sergeant in the Army. He was a member of the Waterford United Methodist Church and the Ligonier VFW Post #734. Jim was an avid sportsman and loved to hunt, fish and golf. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel Jean Cramer Clark, in 1995. He is survived by a stepson, George E. (and wife, Betty) Miller of Union Grove, Ala.; three stepgrandchildren, Eric and Craig Miller and Lisa Carlat; and seven stepgreat-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the J. Helen Elko, 94, formerly of Southwest, died Friday, April 7, 2000. She was born June 28, 1905, in Poland, a daughter of the late Martin and Pearl Grabiak. She was a member of the Transfiguration Catholic Church of Mt. Pleasant, and its Holy Rosary Society; also a member of the Kosciuszko Society, the Standard Shaft and the Hecla ladies auxiliaries. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew, in 1988; three brothers , Walter, Stanley and Joseph Grabiak; and a sister, Anna Bossick. She is survived by two sons , Robert Elko and his wife, Gloria, of Chesapeake, Va., and Lloyd Elko and his wife, Elizabeth, of Middlefield, Ohio; four grandsons; a granddaughter; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Frank Grabiak and his wife, Virginia, of Irwin; and nieces and nephews. Margaret "Jean" Finley, 82, of Latrobe, died Wednesday, April 5, 2000, in Latrobe Area Hospital. She was born Jan. 20, 1918, in Derry, a daughter of the late Raymond and Minnie Mae Ickes Stiffler. Prior to retirement, she had worked at Real Line Market of Latrobe, and was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Latrobe. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers and sisters . Jean is survived by her husband, Harry D. Finley; two sons , Harry R. Finley and his wife, Carol, of Alexandria, Va., and Ronald W. Finley of Latrobe; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, C. Fred Stiffler of Derry; and numerous nieces and nephews. ROY VERNER JOHNSON
Roy Verner Johnson, 79, of Zelienople, died of natural causes Friday, April 7, 2000, in his daughter's home. He was born May 24, 1920, to Verner and Valborg Johnson of Hartford, Conn. Mr. Johnson graduated from Harbrack High School in 1938, Shadyside Academy in 1939, and Cornell University in 1943 with a degree in engineering. While at Cornell he was a member of Phi Kappa Psi fraternity and was captain of the football team. He served in the U.S. Army at the Aberdeen Proving Ground until the end World War II. He married Yvonne Bouchat of Natrona Heights in 1942, and they had three daughters . He retired in 1985 as director of personnel from Halstead Industries in Zelienople. He was a member of the Covenant United Presbyterian Church in Butler for many years, where he served as a deacon and ruling elder and was a member of the choir. He was a member of the Scottish Rite Masonic Temple in New Castle, the American Legion Post 474 in Zelienople, the Moraine Preservation Society, a charter member of the Zelienople Historical Society, and a member of the Harmony-Zelienople Chamber of Commerce. He is survived by his wife, Yvonne; three daughters , Pamela Johnson and Jenifer Johnson of Pittsburgh and Rebecca Zellefrow of Butler; and a granddaughter. A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 15, at 11 a.m. in Covenant United Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Covenant United Presbyterian Church, 230 E. Virginia M. Volpe Mosko, 76, of Derry RD3 (Superior), died Wednesday, April 5, 2000, in UPMC Shadyside, Pittsburgh. She was born Oct. 9, 1923, in Derry Township, a daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine Carney Volpe. Prior to retirement, she was employed by Thorofare Markets of Greensburg. She was a member of St. Martin Senior Citizens and was a former president of Hannastown VFW Ladies Auxiliary. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Spallone; and three brothers , Frank, Michael, and Charles Volpe. Virginia is survived by her husband, Michael J. Mosko Sr.; a son, Michael J. "Buzzy" Jr. and his wife, Debbie, of Derry RD3; a daughter, Barbara Tafoya and her husband, Edward, of York; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three brothers , Nick Volpe of Derry RD, John Volpe of Greensburg, and Philip Volpe of Saltsburg RD; a sister, Rose Pritts of Ligonier; and numerous nieces and nephews.
