Pennsylvania Obituary and Marriage Records, 1947-2010

MICHAEL DeFILIPPO

Michael DeFilippo, 70, of Camp Hill, formerly of Mt. Pleasant, died Saturday, April 1, 2000, at Hospice House, Susquehanna Township. He was born Dec. 12, 1929, in Mt. Pleasant, a son of the late Gaetano and Pasqualina Martorella DeFilippo. He was a graduate of Ramsay High School and Penn State University, where he received a bachelor of science degree in chemistry. He was a retired chemist from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Resources after 25 years of service. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother, Rosina, Helen and Angelo DeFilippo. He is survived by a brother, Anthony DeFilippo of Raleigh, N.C.; two nephews, Ronald DeFilippo and fiancee, Joan Gratzinger, and Donald and Judy DeFilippo, all of Mt. Pleasant; three great-nieces and five great-nephews; and a great-great-niece. Family and friends are welcome to a graveside service and interment at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery Saturday, April 8, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Father Michael W. Matusak as celebrant. There will be no viewing or visitation. MYERS FUNERAL HOME, Mechanicsburg, is handling arrangements.

MARILYN F. EDWARDS

Marilyn F. Edwards, 67, of North Versailles, died Monday, April 3, 2000. Daughter of the late Arthur J. and Nettie E. (Wilson) Hutchinson. Wife of the late Richard "Dick" Edwards. Beloved mother of Geraldine Kraemer, James and the late Ricky Edwards. Sister of Louise Ray. Nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the ALFIERI FUNERAL HOME INC., 201 Marguerite Ave., Wilmerding, Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Service in the funeral home Friday at noon.

RONALD J. GLAMP

Ronald J. Glamp, 48, of Champion, formerly of Greensburg, died Friday, March 31, 2000. He was born July 14, 1951, in Mt. Pleasant, a son of Dorothy M. (Daniels) Glamp of Greensburg and the late Joseph J. Glamp. He had been employed as a manager at Seven Springs Resort in Champion. He was a graduate of Hempfield Area High School, Class of 1969, and Indiana University of Pennsylvania , Class of 1973. In addition to his Father , he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, James and Stella Pieszak Daniels; and paternal grandparents, Joseph and Mary Glamp. In addition to his mother , he is survived by a sister, Marcia J. Glamp, and a brother, Gary J. and his wife, Mary Lynn Glamp, all of Greensburg; a nephew, Jesse Glamp; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Friends will be received at the BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 516 Stanton at Green streets, Greensburg, Thursday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. A blessing service will be held in the funeral home Friday at 9 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. in the Church of St. Paul, Greensburg, with the Rev. Leonard W. Stoviak as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont.

MARY RENEE PROSSER MILITZER

Mary Renee "Mrs. M" Prosser Militzer, 51, of North Huntingdon, died Tuesday, April 4, 2000, at home. She was born Sept. 27, 1948, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of Mary Jane Werthman Prosser of Pittsburgh and the late Samuel Prosser. She was employed as a teacher's assistant at Chum Preschool, North Huntingdon, and was a member of the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Irwin. In addition to her mother , she is survived by her husband, Thomas Militzer; a daughter, Kari Dyer of Berwick, Pa.; two sons , Mark Militzer of Pittsburgh and Timothy Militzer of Akron, Ohio; three grandchildren, Michael L., Elizabeth M., and Samantha P. Dyer; two sisters , Jayne Danhires of Pittsburgh and Shana Seipel of Mt. Lebanon; two brothers , Samuel Prosser of Pittsburgh and Gery Prosser of Castle Shannon; also nieces and nephews. Friends received at the WILLIAM SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, 521 Main St., Irwin, Wednesday and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. in the Church of the Immaculate Conception.

JOHN F. MONTANI

John F. Montani, 50, of Manor, died Tuesday, April 4, 2000, in the UPMC Presbyterian, Oakland. He was born Dec. 5, 1949, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Samuel A. and Ann Lawson Montani. For most of his life, he was employed as a novelty manager at Three Rivers Stadium, Pittsburgh. He was a retired employee of the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission as a maintenance foreman for the Hutchinson Bypass. John utilized his business skills to make a difference in the community of Manor Borough in which he lived. John filled a vacant seat on the Manor Borough Council in 1989, and in subsequent years was elected president of council until 1999. Under his leadership and guidance, significant improvements were made to parks, streets and roads, police department, as well as construction of a new borough building, which consisted of borough offices and a community room. His proudest accomplishment was the Manor Community Library. He was an active member and steward of the Teamster Local 250 of Pittsburgh and Local 30 of Jeannette. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the Vietnam War. Surviving are his wife, Susan Wagner Montani; a daughter, Samantha Ann Montani of Annapolis, Md.; two brothers , Roy Montani of Callery, Pa., and Rick Montani of Cranberry; and two sisters , Judy Porterfield and Debbie Montani, both of Pine Township. Friends received at the JOSEPH F. OTT FUNERAL HOME INC., Fifth and Oak streets, Irwin, Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Dr. Donald Dotterer, pastor of Salem United Methodist Church of Wexford, officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Pine Township. John was a heart transplant recipient, and the family requests that memorials be made to C.O.R.E. of Pittsburgh.

MARTHA A. MROZENSKI
Martha A. Mrozenski, 70, of Latrobe, died Monday, April 3, 2000, in Latrobe Area Hospital. Born in Latrobe, Dec. 15, 1929, she was a daughter of the late John and Mary Steligo Buchek. She was a member of Holy Family Church, Latrobe, and was a self-employed laundromat operator. She was also a member of Good Friends Fire Co. 5 Ladies Auxiliary and was an avid bingo player. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a nephew, Donald Buchek; three brothers , Frank, Walter and Charles Buchek; and five sisters , Agnes Cardarella, Helen Charlesworth, Veronica Smartnick, Mary Hite and Cecelia White . She is survived by her husband, Henry S. Mrozenski; a son, Michael H. Mrozenski of Latrobe; two daughters , Debra A. Conte and her husband, James "Queenie," of Latrobe and Lisa M. Felbaum and her husband, Thomas J., of Latrobe; two brothers -in-law, John Smartnick of Greensburg and Samuel Hite of Texas ; four grandchildren, Richard H. Felbaum, Stephanie N. Felbaum, Emily A. Conte and Renee M. Conte; and a number of nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the JOHN J. LOPATICH FUNERAL HOME INC., 601 Weldon St., Latrobe. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday at 11 a.m. in Holy Family Church. Interment in St. Mary's Cemetery, Unity Township.

ELMER F. MUCHONEY SR.

Elmer F. Muchoney Sr., 82, formerly of Calumet, died Tuesday, April 4, 2000, in UPMC Passavant, McCandless. He was born Aug. 15, 1917, in Trauger, a son of the late John and Suzanna Kubina Muchoney. He was a member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church in Trauger. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by PPG Industries, South Greensburg. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Norvelt Senior Citizens, Musician Local 339, an honorary life member of the Calumet Fire Department, a member of the Hecla Sportsmen's Club, Norvelt Fireman's Club; the VFW Post 3368 and the American Legion Post 446, both of Mt. Pleasant, and the AMVETS Post 94 of United. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers , Joseph, Andrew, Michael, John, and Steve Muchoney; and a sister, Mary Kundla. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Virginia "Sis" Albright Muchoney; two sons , Elmer F. "Al" Muchoney Jr. and his wife, Janet, of Wernersville, Pa., and James R. Muchoney and his wife, Joanne, of Wexford; five grandchildren, Mark Muchoney, Beth Groff, and Julie, Justin and Jessica Muchoney; two great-grandchildren, Bryan and Sara Muchoney; three sisters , Sue Farzati of United, Ann Kowash of Mt. Pleasant, and Helen Krynicky of Carpentertown; a brother, Julius Muchoney of Norvelt; and nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the JAY A. HOFFER FUNERAL HOME, Norvelt, Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Panachida will be held in the funeral home Friday at 9:15 a.m., followed by Divine Liturgy to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church with the Rev. Christopher R. Burke as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Trauger. military graveside services will be accorded by American Legion Post 446 of Mt. Pleasant. MARYANNE E. PATRICK

Maryanne E. Patrick, 64, of Greensburg, died Tuesday, April 4, 2000, in the Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. She was born June 12, 1935, in Export, a daughter of the late Lawrence G. and Anna M. Vargesko Watt. Prior to her retirement, she had been employed by GTE of Delmont, and was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Greensburg. She is survived by her husband, Andrew P. Patrick; a son, Jeffrey P. and his wife, Lori Patrick, of Hollsopple; two granddaughters, Brittany Ann Patrick and Bethany Jane Patrick; and a brother, William E. and his wife, Margaret Watt, of Montgomery, Ala. Friends will be received at the BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 516 Stanton at Green streets, Greensburg, Thursday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. A blessing service will be held in the funeral home Friday at 12:30 p.m., followed by a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 1 p.m. in Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Greensburg. Interment will follow in the Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont. Family suggests memorial contributions to the Our Lady of Grace Building Fund, 1001 Mt. Pleasant Road, Greensburg, PA 15601.

RICHARD PAULSON

Richard Paulson, 79, of Ligonier, formerly of Bethel Park, died Tuesday, April 4, 2000, in Latrobe Area Hospital. He was born July 22, 1920, in Donora, a son of the late Adam and Helen Paulson. He had been a school teacher for 30 years, having taught in the Mt. Lebanon School District. Richard was a member of St. Raymond of the Mountains Catholic Church, Donegal. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army Air Corps on active duty from Oct. 1, 1943, to Jan. 13, 1946, having attained the rank of captain and had also served in the Reserves from 1946 to 1956. He was a flight leader and instructor having served in the China-Burma-India area with the 4th Combat Cargo Group and the 13th Combat Cargo Squadron. He received the following citations: World War II Victory Medal, Asiatic Pacific with three battle stars, Air Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters and the Distinguished Flying Cross. He was preceded in death by a brother, Edwin Paulson; and a sister, Alfreda Hokha. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Irene; two daughters , Cheryl and her husband, Ronald Robertson, of Ligonier, and Marianne and her husband, David Keck, of Erie; seven grandchildren, Nicki and Jessica Robertson, and Tara, Dave, Michael, Ashley and Chrissy Keck; and a sister, Irene Schaefer of Pittsburgh. Family received friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the L. BOYD SNYDER FUNERAL HOME INC., Church Street, Donegal. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. in St. Raymond of the Mountains Catholic Church, Donegal, with the Rev. John Harrold as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Raymond Cemetery. JOHN J. PETRINI

John J. "Apey" Petrini, 84, of Trafford, died Tuesday, April 4, 2000, in West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born June 13, 1915, in Trafford, a son of the late Louis and Antoinette Ferrero Petrini. He was a member of St. Regis Church, Trafford; the Sub-Alpine, Turtle Creek; and was inducted into the East Borough Chapter of the PA Sports Hall of Fame. Prior to retirement, he was employed by Westinghouse, East Pittsburgh, as a cement mason. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers , Lawrence, Robert and Louis Petrini; three sisters , Mary Lawrence, Rose Petrella and Elizabeth DeAngellis; and a granddaughter, Anne Marie Richardson. He is survived by his beloved wife, Mildred Bugajski Petrini; two daughters , Rosemarie Stewart of Indianapolis, Ind., and Carol Anne "Cookie" Richardson of Trafford. Also survived by three grandchildren, Jack and Doug Stewart and Russell Richardson; and two great-grandchildren. Friends received Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the DAVID A. RITTER FUNERAL HOME, 220 Edgewood Ave., Trafford. Harry A. Readshaw Jr., second-generation funeral director, 84, of Carrick, on Monday, April 3, 2000. Beloved husband of Ellen Joanne Webb Readshaw. Father of Blanche Woodruff of Southern Pines, N.C., and Harry A. Readshaw III and Scott L. Readshaw, both of Pittsburgh. Stepfather of Jo Ellen Boyd of Virginia and Karen Hoover of Library. Nine grandchildren. Three great-grandchildren. Brother of the late Ernest J. Readshaw and the late Elizabeth "Betty" Hall. Sandra E. Robinson, 44, of Mt. Pleasant, died Sunday, April 2, 2000, at her residence. She was born Feb. 9, 1956, in Mt. Pleasant, a daughter of the late Edward Blaine Sr. and Dolores Evelyn Walker King. She was a member of the Reunion Presbyterian Church, Mt. Pleasant. Sandra was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant Area High School, Class of 1974 and attended West Chester State University. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Edward B. King in 1998; and her grandparents, Oliver and Hallie King and Nathaniel and Evelyn Walker Davis. She is survived by her husband, James K. Robinson; a daughter, Kendra E. Galley and husband, Dwight, of Jeannette; a stepdaughter, Jamie Robinson of Greensburg; two sisters , Sylvia King of West Chester and Cheryl L. Taylor and husband, Kevin, of North Liberty, Iowa; five nieces, Shauna, Tiffany, Tamara, Sabrina, and Aubrey; two nephews, William and Kevin; her mother -in-law, Frances Robinson of Greensburg; two brothers -in-law, John Edward Robinson and wife, Mary, of Herndon, Va., and Timothy Robinson of Greensburg; three sisters -in-law, Diane King of Geigertown, Beverly Guest and husband, Robert, of Plainfield, N.J., and Katherine Franklin of Silver Spring, Md.; two uncles, two aunts, and numerous cousins. Frank S. Sorosky, 72, of Moon Township, passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2000, at Atrium I, Robinson Township. Beloved husband of Florence. Beloved Father of Edith "Penny" Jurchak and her husband, John, of Thurmont, Md., Frank D. Sorosky and his wife, Georgette, of Moon Township and David Sorosky of New Stanton. Also eight grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. Brother of Anthony Sorosky, Sophie Rutkowski and Ann Pisony. Interment private.
