Sophie F. Ferretti, 83, of Wind Gap, died Sunday in Easton Hospital. She was the widow of Renaldo Ferretti, who died in 1965.
Born May 3, 1916, in Bethlehem, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Kotvicza) Wisiniewski.
She was employed as a weaver for the former Blue Ridge/Winkler Textile Inc. of Bangor prior to retiring. She is a member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church, Pen Argyl.
She is survived by two sons , John of Wind Gap and James of Stroudsburg; three daughters , Palmina McGarr of Easton, Rose Lockard of Pen Argyl and Mary Ann Ferretti of Bethlehem; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters .
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday from the James B. Gaffney Funeral Home, 200 S. Robinson Ave., Pen Argyl, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church, West Babbitt and Lobb avenues, Pen Argyl. Interment will be in Holy Family Catholic Cemetery, Nazareth.
Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.

Donald J. Jablonski, age 70, of Kunkletown, died Monday, June 14, at St. Luke's Hospital in Bethlehem. He was the husband of Ruth (Asam) Jablonski. They had been married 44 years.
Born in Brooklyn, N. Y., he was the son of Anna (Walsko) Jablonski of Gilbert and the late Anthony Jablonski.
He had worked as a printer for many years at American Business Press in New York City, and Hartz Mountain in Harrison, N.J. Most recently he had worked part time at Kinsley's Market in Brodheadsville, retiring in 1998.
He was a United States Air Force veteran, having served during the
Korean War.
He was a member of the American Legion Post #927 in Gilbert.
In addition to his wife, Ruth, and mother , Anna, he is survived by two sons , Kenneth and his wife Sally Jablonski of Kresgeville, and Thomas Jablonski of Gilbert; and one grandson, Adam Jablonski of Kresgeville.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 17, at the Donald N. Gower Funeral Home, Route 209, Gilbert.
Interment will be in the Buena Vista Cemetery in Brodheadsville.
Viewing will be held 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, June 16, at the funeral home with American Legion services at 8 p.m.

Eva Eleanor Lyons, 77, of South Sterling, formerly of New Brunswick, N.J., died Monday, at her home. She was the wife of the late Alfred A. Lyons, who died in December 1994.
Born in South Sterling, she was a daughter of the late Ward and Frieda (Blitz) Frey. She was a homemaker.
Eva was a member of the LaAnna United Methodist Church in LaAnna and the Auxiliary of Disabled American Veterans. She had been active as a troop leader and District Council member of Girl Scouts of America in New Brunswick.
She is survived by a daughter, Nancy Simon and son-in-law, Donald Simon of Greentown; a brother, Donald Frey of Honesdale; and two grandsons, Scott Simon of Panama City, Fla., and Christopher Simon of Greentown. She was preceded in death by a brother, Stephen Frey.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 17, in the LaAnna United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Robert Allen officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, South Sterling.

Harry Ammeraal

Harry Ammeraal, of Manor Drive, Stroudsburg, died Sunday, June 13, at home. He was the husband of the late Betty (Thompson) Ammeraal who died in 1980 and the late Eleanor (Amy) Ammeraal who died in 1990.
Born on July 27, 1923, in Totowa, N.J., he was a son of the late Cornelius and Christina (DePotter) Ammeraal and had lived in Monroe County since 1991 coming from Totowa, N.J.
Prior to retirement, he had worked for Frank Bott Well Drilling and also for the Laurel Grove Memorial Park, both in Totowa, N.J.
He was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps having served during World War II.
Surviving are a brother, William Ammeraal, of Closter, N.J., and several nephews.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family with burial in the Laurel Grove Memorial Park, Totowa, N.J. Cremation took place at the H.G. Smith Crematory, Stroudsburg.

Ann E. Bitz, 66, of Tannersville, was pronounced dead on Monday morning, June 14, at Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg. She was the wife of Paul Bitz, at home.
Born on July 19, 1932, in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Peter and Fannie (Barone) Castorlli and had lived in Tannersville for the past two years, coming from Queens, N.Y.
Prior to retirement, she had worked as the head security supervisor for Chase Manhattan Bank in Manhattan, N.Y.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her aunt, Curly Sojek of Long Island, N.Y.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 18, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Luke's Roman Catholic Church, Main Street, Stroudsburg, with the Rev. Thomas D. McLaughlin as celebrant. Burial will follow in Stroudsburg Cemetery.
Viewing hours will be on Wednesday and Thursday from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main Street, Stroudsburg.

Phebe E. (Stacy) Henry, 72, of Northfield, Mass., died Saturday afternoon at home. She was born in Northfield, Mass., on April 5, 1927, the daughter of Harrison and Blanche (Stanclift) Stacy.
She was educated in Northfield schools and was a 1945 graduate of the Northfield Seminary, now the Northfield Mount Hermon School. She graduated from the Boston Children's Hospital School of Nursing and earned her bachelor of science degree in nursing from Anna Maria College in Paxton, Mass., in 1990.
She was married Dec. 23, 1950, in Northfield to Reynold N. Henry. She held nursing licenses in Texas , California, Vermont and Massachusetts. From 1968 to 1971 she was a nurse at the Fifth Field Army Hospital in Bangkok, Thailand. She then worked as a nurse at the Vernon Green Nursing Home in Vernon, Vt., for several years. She then worked at the Northfield Mount Hermon School, first as a librarian, then as a school nurse for many years. She was a member of the Trinitarian Congregational Church in Northfield and a member of the Northfield Fortnightly. She loved the outdoors, children and adventures.
Besides her husband at home, she is survived by one son, Robert Henry of Northfield, Mass.; two brothers , Andrew Stacy of Vernon, Vt., and David Stacy of Austelle, Ga.; and two grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son Lawrence in 1977.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 19, at the Trinitarian Congregational Church, Main Street, Northfield, Mass. The Rev. Lloyd Parrill will officiate. Burial will follow in West Northfield Cemetery.

Ruth J. Vernon, 63, of Stroudsburg, died Saturday in Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg. She was the wife of the late Ernest C. "Irish" Vernon Sr., who died in 1983.
Born on April 5, 1936 in Milo, IL, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Bessie (Towne) Applen and had lived in the area since 1954. She had last worked as a cashier at the former Sunoco Station on West Main Street in Stroudsburg.
She was a member of the Middle Creek Christian Church in Effort and a former member of the Thomas P. Lambert Post 2540 VFW Auxiliary, East Stroudsburg.
She is survived by two sons , Terry Vernon of Bartonsville and Dale Vernon of Arkansas; a daughter, Christine Abplanalp of Pocono Summit; two brothers , Raymond Applen of Quinlan, TX and John Applen of OK; a sister, Helen Epperson of Walnut, IL; twelve grandchildren; two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Ernest Vernon Jr. and a granddaughter, Susan Abplanalp.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Cremation will be in the H.G. Smith Crematory, Stroudsburg.

Felicia Rose Longo of Fort Myers, Fla., died at home on June 11, 1999. She was the wife of John Longo to whom she married 53 years ago.
She was the mother of Anthony Longo of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Theresa Butz of Cresco and grandmother of Joshua and Serena Butz, also of Cresco.
She was born in Manhattan, N.Y., and was employed by Mobil Oil Corporation for 28 years as an executive secretary.
She resided in Fort Myers, Fla., for the past 15 years and was active in the Myerlee Condo Association during that time. She was beloved by family and friends for selfless nature and her ability to support others without censure.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 6 p.m. Monday, June 14, at the Kiser Funeral Home, 9231 Cypress Lake Drive, Fort Myers, Fla. A Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, June 15, at 11:30 a.m. at the Church of the Resurrection. Entombment will be at Lee Memorial Park Cemetery.

Charles Sullivan, 64, of Shawnee-on-Delaware died Wednesday, June 9, in Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg.
Born in the Bronx, N.Y., he was the son of the late John J. and Hanorah (Hayes) Sullivan. He was a resident of the Shawnee area for the past 15 years and prior to that he lived in the Reading area for a few years and most of his life in the Elizabeth, N.J., area.
While in Elizabeth, N.J., he was employed at The Elizabeth De-Tox Center as a counselor for many years. He later worked at St. Joseph's Hospital — Nauman Center in Reading for some years. In 1984, he moved to the Shawnee area where he worked at the Marworth at Shawnee on Delaware for seven years and was presently a counselor with the Drug & Alcohol Services at Carbon, Monroe & Pike counties.
He was also co-founder of the Patt Talbot Retreat Movement Group #60.
He was a member of St. John's Roman Catholic Church of Bushkill and was a Navy veteran.
He is survived by a daughter, Hanorah (Nora) Sullivan-Houndalas of Los Angeles, Calif., and a son, Charles Sullivan of Portland, Ore.; a brother, Father Dennis Sullivan of New York City, N.Y.; and a sister, Catherine Sullivan of the Bronx, N.Y. He was preceded in death by a brother, John P. Sullivan, who died in 1972.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Monday, June 14, at St. John's Roman Catholic Church in Bushkill with Charles' brother, Father Dennis Sullivan, as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Raymonds Cemetery, Bronx, N.Y.

George E. Hanf, 68, of Brodheadsville, died Thursday, June 10, at Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg.
He was the husband of Alice (Boyne) Hanf. They had been married 39 years.
Born in Jersey City, N.J., he was the son of the late George W. and Matilda (Olsen) Hanf.
He was employed as an Accountant for Ingersoll-Rand in New York City for over 20 years. Later he worked as an accountant in the West End and Bangor area.
He was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Gilbert. He was a member of the 3rd Knights of Columbus Msgr. Connell McHugh Council #7141 of Brodheadsville. where he was a Past Grand Knight and he was also the financial secretary for many years, and a 4th Knights of Columbus Father Butler Assembly #980 of Stroudsburg and served as the financial secretary.
He was a United States Air Force Veteran having served during the
Korean War. He received the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was a former member of the American Legion in Jersey City, N.J, and a current member of the American Legion Post #927 in Gilbert. For many years, he has been an active member of the Boy Scouts of America.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters , Rosemarie, wife of Harold Gooch of Bethlehem and Maureen, wife of Andrew Stevens of Northampton; a sister, Joanne O'Leary of Red Bank, N.J.; and two grandchildren, Cory and Erin Stevens of Northampton.
Funeral services will begin 8:30 a.m. Saturday, June 12, at the Donald N. Gower Funeral Home, Inc., Route 209, Gilbert, followed by a 9 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Gilbert with the Rev. Father William P. McCawley celebrant. Interment will be in the Buena Vista Cemetery, Brodheadsville.
