Martha Ruth Flowers, 60, of Mount Pocono, died Wednesday evening in the hospice unit of Mercy Hospital, Scranton. She was the wife of James M. Flowers, with whom she would have celebrated 40 years of marriage this Sunday, May 9.
Born on July 16, 1938 in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Hilbert and Martha McCauley. She lived in Monroe County for the past 40 years.
She had worked in the housekeeping department of Mt. Airy Lodge for 17 years.
She was a member of St. Mary of the Mount Roman Catholic Church, Mount Pocono; the Eagles Auxiliary; the Moose Auxiliary; and the American Legion Auxiliary.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters , Debra Griffith of Woodale and Mary C. Snyder of Oxford, Florida; two granddaughters, Vanessa Flowers and Lori Morgan Snyder, both of Oxford, Fla.; four sisters , Betty Schipp, Rosemary Occhipinti, Kay Maslar and Clare McCauley, all of Scranton; a brother, Paul McCauley of Scranton; three aunts; an uncle; and many nieces and nephews.
Prayer services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Sat., May 8, at the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main Street, Stroudsburg; Msgr. Arthur J. Kaschenbach will be officiating. Burial will follow in Keokee Chapel Cemetery, Paradise Valley.
There will be a viewing from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, May 7, at the funeral home.

Joyce Ellen Kurts, 73, of Kingfield, Maine, died Wednesday evening, April 28, at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. She was the wife of John Kurts, at home. They were married for 53 years.
She was born January 19, 1926, in Pen Argyl, the daughter of the late Milton T. and Anna J. (Krock) Ace. She graduated from Bangor High School in 1944. On September 7, 1945 she married John Kurts.
Mrs. Kurts was a seamstress and worked in various blouse mills in the Bangor area. She and her family relocated to Maine eight years ago from Pennsylvania . She enjoyed sewing, needlework and crocheting. She was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children, Cassandra Place of East Stroudsburg, Guy Kurts of Nazareth, and Bridget Kurts of Kingfield; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers , Gordon Ace and Joseph Ace.
A private family memorial was held at Wiles Funeral Home, Five Hill Street, Farmington, Maine.
An additional memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 15, at the Middle Smithfield Presbyterian Church, Milford Road, East Stroudsburg.

Lula A. Henry, 85, of Paradise Valley died Friday, May 7, at Mrs. Bush's Personal Care Home in Kunkletown.
Born in Paradise Township, she was the daughter of the late Sanford and Margaret (Buck) Henry.
Lula was a lifelong resident of Paradise Valley. She was a lifetime member of the Willing Workers; the Foresters of Monroe County; and the Keokee Chapel United Methodist Church in Paradise Valley, where she taught Sunday School.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed by the Crescent Lodge for many years.
She is survived by her nieces, nephews and cousins.
The Rev. Carol Campbell will conduct a funeral service at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 10, at the Keokee Chapel United Methodist Church, Paradise Valley. The burial will follow in Keokee Chapel Cemetery.
There will be a visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, May 9, at the Bolock Funeral Home, Corner of Routes 940 and 390 in Paradise Valley.

Manuela Otero, 25, and Luis Beltre, 34, both of Stroudsburg died Wednesday, May 5, in Stroudsburg.
They were born in the Dominican Republic and had been living in the Stroudsburg area for the past few years. They worked at the Pocono Manor as waiters and clerks.
There will be a visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, May 9, at the Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home, 23 North Ninth Street, Stroudsburg.
Burial will be on Wednesday, May 12, in the Dominican Republic.

Dr. Walter L. Magnusson of Canadensis died Tuesday, May 4, at his home.
Born in Farmingdale, Long Island, N.Y., he was the son of the late Walter C.J. and May E. (Kennedy) Magee. He was a resident of Canadensis for the past 10 years and before that he lived in Marshalls Creek for nine years. In his earlier years he lived in Iceland and the Brooklyn, N.Y. area.
He received his Ph.D in Linguistics from Columbia University, in New York. For many years he did private tutoring in the New York area.
He was an Army veteran of World War II and was of the Catholic faith.
He is survived by three sisters , Florence R. Milo and Janet C. Magee, both of Cresco, and Sister Bernadette C. Magee, R.S.M., of Albany, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister Mary E. Magee; brothers , Laurence A. Magee, John W. Magee and infant brothers , Arthur and Baby Magee.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. on Sat., May 8, from St. Mary's of the Mount Roman Catholic Church in Mount Pocono; Msgr. Arthur Kaschenbach will be officiating.
Interment will be in the Laurelwood Cemetery, Stroudsburg. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Fri., May 7, at the Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home, 23 North Ninth Street, Stroudsburg.

Ann DiTondo, 75, of East Stroudsburg died Saturday, May 8, in the Stroud Manor Nursing Home, East Stroudsburg. She was the widow of Anthony DiTondo, who died in 1988.
Born in Hoboken, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Marion and Jennifer Picciurro. She was a resident of East Stroudsburg for the past 14 years, and prior to that she lived in the Clifton, N.J., area her entire life. In Clifton, N.J., she owned and operated the Clifton Plaza Beauty Salon for 20 years. She was a member of St. Matthew's Roman Catholic Church, East Stroudsburg.
She is survived by two sons , Michael C. DiTondo and Anthony A. DiTondo, both of East Stroudsburg; a sister, Marian Cappola of Tampa, Fla.; and two brothers , Anthony and Joseph Picciurro; and five grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 11, at 10 a.m. from St. Matthew's Roman Catholic Church, East Stroudsburg, with the Rev. Daniel Yenkevich as celebrant. Entombment will be in the Mountainview Mausoleum, East Stroudsburg.

Kenneth G. Miller, 53, of Swiftwater, died Saturday at Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg. He was the husband of Mary A. (Dyson) Miller, to whom he had been married for the past 18 years.
Born on July 26, 1945, in East Stroudsburg, he was the son of Violet (Papilion) Fish of Mount Pocono and the late Kenneth S. Miller and had lived in the area all of his life. He was a self-employed welder and excavator and enjoyed woodworking.
In addition to his wife and mother , he is survived by his grandmother, Lillian DeHaven of Mount Pocono; a sister, Carol Evans of Mountainhome; three brothers , Fred Miller of Albrightsville, Gary Miller of Mount Pocono and Robert Miller of Bartonsville; a half-sister, Sharon Fish of Stroudsburg; a half-brother, Frank Fish of Stroudsburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main St., Stroudsburg, with the Rev. John E. Charnock Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Paul's Cemetery, Swiftwater.
There will be a viewing on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

Adam D. Bellis, 61, of Stroudsburg, died on Wednesday, May 5, at home.
He was born in Stroudsburg, a son of the late Emanuel and Anna Rebecca (Walters) Bellis. He had been a resident of Monroe County his entire lifetime.
He was employed by the Fernwood Resort in Bushkill as a dishwasher for 14 years.
He is survived by a sister, Betsy Rabenold of Allentown; and friends with whom he resided, James and Janet Widdoss of Stroudsburg.

Alice L. Tanner, 94, of Greenville, N.Y., homemaker and a life-long resident of the area, died Friday, May 7.
The daughter of the late Charles and Alice VanStraveen Sheare, she was born on Oct. 17, 1904 in Port Jervis, N.Y.
She was a member of the Faith Reformed Church, South Centerville, N.Y.; The Pacers of Slate Hill; Town of Greenville Seniors; and the American Association of Retired Persons.
She is the widow of the late Egbert "Bert" Tanner. They were married for 64 years. Survivors include one son, John Tanner of Stroudsburg; three daughters , Joan Wagner and Alice Pagano, both of Port Jervis, N.Y., and Ann Mosher of Matamoras; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, May 10, at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis, N.Y. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 11, at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home.
The Rev. Bert Van Soest will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Sparrowbush, N.Y.

Mildred J. "Millie" Widmer, 71, of Stroudsburg, died Sunday at home. She was the wife of Robert S. Widmer, to whom she had been married since June 1, 1947.
Born on Oct. 28, 1927, in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late George H. and Edna O. (Holdorff) Jacobsen and had lived in Stroudsburg most of her life. Educated in both New York and Pennsylvania schools, she was a graduate of Stroudsburg High School and then attended Syracuse University. In her earlier years, she had worked as an operator for the Bell Telephone Co. in Stroudsburg. She was employed by Edward R. Lawson Inc. of Stroudsburg, was a receptionist to the Dean of Men at Syracuse University and was also employed as a transcriber with the Department of Public Assistance.
She was a member of Stroudsburg United Methodist Church.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons , Jeff Widmer, husband of Karen of Bartonsville, and the Rev. Scott Widmer, husband of Linda of Honey Brook; two grandsons; one granddaughter; two step grandsons and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday in Stroudsburg United Methodist Church with the Rev. George S. Rigby Jr. and the Rev. Thomas E. Anderman officiating. A reception will follow the services in the church.
There will be no viewing.
Private burial will be in Stroudsburg Cemetery.
