Ray Haggerty, 89, of Henryville, died Friday, April 30, in Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg. He was the husband of the late Helen (Halko) Haggerty who died in 1987.
Born in Sussex County, New Jersey, he was the son of the late Anzi and Amelia (Goucher) Haggerty. He was a resident of the Henryville area for the past four years and prior to that he lived in Netcong, New Jersey.
He was employed at the Mineral Wool Co. of Stanhope, N.J. for 25 years, retiring in 1972. He was an Army veteran of World War II and was of the Presbyterian faith.
He is survived by three daughters , Sharon Daige of Henryville, Constance Foster of Randolph, N.J., and Darlene Rosebush of Newburgh, Maine; a son, Vance Haggerty of San Antonio, Texas ; a brother, Atwood Haggerty of Sussex, N.J.; two sisters , Dorothy Gray of Sussex, N.J. and Luetta Longcare of Vero Beach, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 4, from the Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home, 23 North Ninth St., Stroudsburg, with the Rev. Carol Brown officiating.
Burial will be in the Berkshire Valley Presbyterian Cemetery, Warton, N.J.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 3 at the funeral home.

Helen B. Smith, 91, of 10 Wilson Way, passed away Thursday, April 29, at The Steuben County Health Care Facility, Bath, New York.
She was born December 18, 1907 in Pocono Pines, to the late Eugene and Mary (Silker) Bonser.
She worked in Pharmaceutical Distribution for National Drug Co. She was a member of the Kanona Methodist Church, Kanona, N.Y
Helen is survived by her daughter, Audrey P. Shupp of Bath, N.Y.; her grandson, Kenneth Shupp Jr. and his wife, Mary, of Bath, N.Y.; her niece, Judith Leiding and her husband, James, of Kunkletown; and her sister-in-law, Edna Bosner of Pocono Pines. She was preceded in death by her brother, Harry Bosner; her nephew, Eugene Bosner; and her son-in-law, Kenneth G. Shupp Sr.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, May 2, at the Seager-Jones Funeral Home, 4 East Washington St., Bath, N.Y. A funeral service will follow, at 1 p.m., with Kitty Ormsby officiating. Burial will be in Nondaga Cemetery, Bath N.Y.

Craig Scott Ryder, 44, of Bristol, Va., died Friday, April 30, at the Bristol Regional Medical Center in Bristol, Tenn.
Mr. Ryder was a U.S. Army Veteran and attended Northampton Community College in Bethlehem. He was employed by the Tobyhanna Army Depot for 15 years. After moving to Bristol, Va., 10 years ago, he was manager of Chick-n-Little, a family business in Abingdon, Va. He was also employed by Prudential Callebs Realty and was a member of the Realters Association.
Survivors include his wife, Susan D. Ryder; one stepson, Chad Necessary of Damacus, Va.; one stepdaughter, Trisha Anderson of Bristol, Va.; his stepmother, Mary Lou Ryder of East Stroudsburg; one sister, Bonnie Carter of Shawnee-on-Delaware; and two brothers , Brian Ryder and David Ryder, both of East Stroudsburg.
Pallbearers will be Stevie VanKovich, Ric Lambert, Rick Dugger, Fred Sullins, Chad Necessary and Larry Tharp.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, May 2, at the Akard Funeral Home, 1912 W. State St., Bristol, Tenn.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday, May 3, from the Akard Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Dan Birchfield officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens, Abingdon, Va.

Bernhard "Barney" Hawley, 79, of Somerville, N.J., died Thursday, April 29, at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, N.J.
Born in Harrison, N.J., he resided at Newark, N.J., and Menlo Park Terrace, N.J., before moving to East Stroudsburg in 1980. He has lived in Somerville, N.J., since March.
Hawley was a machinist at the Regina Company in Rahway, N.J., for 22 years before retiring in 1980.
He was a veteran of World War II, where he served in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by three sons , Barry of Ocala, Fla., Ronald of Brick, N.J., and Kevin of North Brunswick, N.J.; two daughters , Susan Petersen of Belle Mead, N.J., and Debbie Roguski of Phillipsburg, N.J.; a sister, Isabelle Lowell of West Keansburg, N.J.; and 11 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Betty, who died in 1994.
A funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 4, at St. Joseph Church, Livingston Avenue, East Millstone, N.J. Visiting hours are from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, May 3, at the Hillsborough Funeral Home, 796 Route 206, Belle Mead, N.J.
Interment will be in Laurelwood Cemetery in East Stroudsburg.

Emily V. Itterly, 87, of 7815 New York Avenue, Hudson, Fla., Pasco County, formerly of Ackermanville, died Friday morning, April 30, at her residence in Florida. She had moved to Florida in 1986.
She was the widow of Melvin F. Itterly, who died in 1977.
Born Nov. 27, 1911, in Kesslersville, Plainfield Township, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Ellen (Storms) Meyers.
Mrs. Itterly was employed as a garment worker in various Bangor area mills, until retiring in 1973.
She was an active member of Word of Life Full Gospel Assembly, Hudson, Fla., and a former member of the Pentecostal Chapel of Easton, Forks Township. She enjoyed crocheting doilies for her churches.
She is survived by two daughters , Brenda J. Weidlich, of Hudson, Fla., and Cheryl L. Grubb, of Pen Argyl; one son, Daryl M. Itterly, of Bangor; one sister, Maryarlene Long, of Easton; six grandchildren; two step-granddaughters; and seven great-grandchildren. One sister, Frances Weaver; and one brother, Stanley Meyers, died earlier. A brother, Charles Meyers Jr. is Missing in Action from the
Korean War.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday from The Hough Home for Funerals Inc., 207 Market St., Bangor. Interment will be in Forks Township Cemetery, Forks Township. Friends may call Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Edward C. Doney, 81, of R.R. 3 Kunkletown, died Saturday at Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg.
He was the husband of Martha M. (Kretzing) Doney. They had observed their 58th wedding anniversary last June.
Born in Sussex County, New Jersey, he was a son of the late Milo H. and Ethel Mae (Conklin) Doney. A resident of Chestnuthill Township for 70 years, he lived on Doney Road, which was named for the four generation of his family that lived at that location.
He was a 1935 graduate of Chestnuthill High School, a graduate of East Stroudsburg University, and he had attended Lehigh University. He had been a school teacher, mostly in the Stroud Union School District, for 30 years, retiring in 1978.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the 20th Air Force in the South Pacific.
He was a member of Zion United Lutheran Church in Brodheadsville, where he served in many capacities including council president and Sunday School superintendent.
He served in many local organizations, including past president of the Western Pocono Lions Club and past commander of the American Legion Post 927 in Gilbert and the Chestnut Ridge Senior Citizens in Kunkletown. He was also a volunteer in the West End Ambulance Corp. for many years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Rebecca Rowe in Florida; a son, Carl Doney of Zieglerville; five grandchildren, Roxanne Walters, Ronald Rowe, Dakota Warner, Bo Doney and Brooke Shockley; a great-grandchild, Julian Warner; an aunt, Eileen Van Poppel; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday from Zion United Lutheran church, with the Rev. William Zimmermann officiating. Burial will be in Buena Vista Cemetery in Brodheadsville. A viewing will be held on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service in the church.

Harry Janson, 98, Tannersville, died on Thursday at Pleasant Valley Manor in Snydersville. He was the husband of Eva (Liberty) Janson, Pleasant Valley Manor.
Born in Philadelphia on May 7, 1900, he was the son of the late George and Kate (Lukens) Janson.
He was the owner and operator of Janson's Barber Shop in Tannersville. He was a 78 year member of Barger Lodge #325 F & A M; one of the founders of the Central Pocono Ambulance; a life member of the Pocono Township Volunteer Fire Company; a charter member of the Tannersville Lions Club; and a member of the Crescent Lake Hunting Club. He was also an avid fan of the Philadelphia Phillies Baseball team.
He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Tannersville.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Barbara Storm of Tannersville; six grandchildren, Jody Chesko of Tannersville, Chad Storm of Tannersville, Jennifer Kinsmann of Newton, Conn., Jacqueline Jursek of Medway, Mass., Juliette Raymond of Brookline, Mass., and Jeffrey Janson of San Francisco, Calif.; four great grandchildren, Lucas and Austin Perrin and Alexander and Wesley Jursek; and many nieces and nephews especially Jill Shukaitis, Marie Janson Winterberg and Kathy Yansick and family.
He was preceded in death by a son, H. Allen Janson who died in 1997; two brothers , George Janson Jr. and Louis Janson; two sisters , Mame Rushton and Margaret Janson.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 3, at 1 p.m. at the Barger Lodge, Masonic Center, 900 Rimrock Drive, Stroudsburg.
The family will receive friends and relatives on Monday from noon to 1 p.m. at the Masonic Center.

Elmer E. 'Bud' Moore Jr.

Elmer E. "Bud" Moore Jr. of Thornhurst died Friday evening in Mercy Hospital.
Born in the family homestead in Thornhurst, he was the son of the late Elmer E. and Florence Hayes Moore Sr.
He spent his early years at Karlsrhue, which was the former Stegmeir Estate in Thornhurst.
His wife is the former Merabeth Newton. They had been married 23 years.
He received his bachelor's of education degree from East Stroudsburg University and his master of arts degree in 1962 from Lehigh University. He began his teaching career in the Palisades School in Bucks County. Later he became the head of the humanities department in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. He furthered his career by becoming curriculum director for a high school for humanities in Blind Brook Rye, N.Y. He accepted the position of language art coordinator in West Orange and later New Providence, N.J. In Pennsylvania , he was an adjunct English professor at Northampton Community College, Monroe Campus.
During his years in education, he was a textbook consultant for the Scott Foresman Company. He owned Mountain Nurseries in Thornhurst for more than 30 years and from 1957 to 1995, he was a deputy wildlife conservation officer with the Pennsylvania Game Commission. Since retiring from the Game Commission, he was associated with the Pocono Animal Hospital and the Genesis Wildlife Center in Pocono Lake, specializing in the care and feeding of a Siberian tiger named Reba.
He was an avid outdoorsman and fisherman. He devoted his life to education and wildlife conservation.
He was a member of the Thornhurst United Methodist Church and the Moscow Lodge Free and Accepted Masons #504. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Also surviving are two daughters , Lynn E. Moore of Perkasie and Nancy E. Gisondi of Langhorne; tow sons Glenn E. Moore of Pipersville and Craig E. Moore of Landsdale; eight grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Moore Wilberoing.
Memorial services will begin on Tuesday at 11:15 a.m. in the parking lot of the Thornhurst Volunteer Fire Company, with services at 11:30 a.m. in the Thornhurst Country Club Estates Pavilion, by the Rev. Lori Steffensen of Thornhurst United Methodist Church and the Rev. Gil Evans of the Thornhurst Volunteer Fire Company. There will be no viewing.

Audrey M. Weidlich, 82, of Hudson, Florida, formerly of Bangor, died Monday February 8, at The Arbors, Bayonet Point, Fla., where she was a guest for 1 ½ months. She was the wife of the late Rodger U. Weidlich, who died in 1988.
Born in September 5, 1916 in Pen Argyl, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Leila (Horn) Hocking.
Mrs. Weidlich was last employed as a beauty consultant at the former Fashion Two-Twenty, Allentown, retiring in 1977. Prior to this, she was a Dental Assistant for Dr. Peifly in Bangor.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Zephyrhills, Florida and a former member of First United Methodist Church, Bangor. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Women's Club and Tourist Club, all in Zephyrhills. She was also a former member of the onetime Ethel Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, Bangor and the Bangor Women's Club.
She was a 1934 graduate of Pen Argyl High School. She had moved from Bangor to Zephyrhills in 1977. She enjoyed playing the organ, piano, composing music, dancing and gardening.
She is survived by two granddaughters, three step-grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Gary R. Weidlich Sr., who died in 1987; and a grandson, Gary R. Weidlich Jr., who died in 1976.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 7, in First United Methodist Church, 55 North Third Street, Bangor. Private internment will be in St. John's Cemetery, Bangor. There will be no calling hours. The Hough Home for Funerals Inc., 207 Market Street, Bangor is in charge of the arrangements.
