Margaret "Peg" M. Tierney, a 32-year Gouldsboro resident, died Thursday morning at Mercy Hospital. She was the wife of Joseph C. Tierney. They would have celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary on June 5.
Born in Scranton, she was a daughter of the late William H. and Mary Madeline McLaughlin Miller. She was a member of St. Rita's Church and was past president and secretary of the Women's Club of the Tobyhanna Army Depot.
Prior to retirement, she was secretary and the manager of the Mutual of New York, Scranton agency, and the Tobyhanna Army Depot as secretary to the Director of D- "MIS".
Also surviving are a brother, Jerome K. Miller of Cherry Hill, N.J., and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothea James and two brothers , Earl Miller, Sr., and William Miller.
The funeral will be Monday at 9 a.m. from the Brian Arthur Strauch Funeral Home, Route 690, Springbrook Township, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Ann's Church, Tobyhanna. Entombment will be in St. Catherine Cemetery, Moscow. Friends may call Sunday 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Lawrence C. "Carl" Liero Jr., 56, formerly of Effort, died Saturday, April 10, 1999, at his home in North Fort Myers, Fla. He was the husband of Nancy E. (Wrick) Liero.
Born on April 22, 1942, in Pen Argyl, the son of the late Lawrence C. and Martha (Dovyak) Liero Sr.
He was of the Catholic faith.
He moved to North Fort Myers, Fla., in 1998.
He served in the U.S. Navy, and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan, from 1960 to 1965. He was a member of the American Legion Post #5588, Kunkletown; American Legion Post #336, North Fort Myers, Fla.; a National member of AmVets Post #81, Florida Dept.; and the Loyal Order of the Moose, Moose Lodge, Yulee, Fla.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two daughters : Shauna Andrews of Lehighton and Carrie Loney of Saylorsburg; his son, Chad Liero of Kunkletown; and seven grandchildren.
He is also survived by two step-sons , Michael Campbell of Blakeslee and Steven Campbell of Dushore; a step-daughter, Carol Campbell of East Stroudsburg; and three step-grandchildren; a sister, Joan Coppola of Wind Gap; a brother, Michael Dovyak of Wind Gap; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Arrangements were made by the American Family Cremation Consultants in North Fort Myers, Fla., where he will remain.

Charlos Marie Moeller, 72, of Ocala, Florida, died on Thursday, April 22, at her home.
She was born in Ocean City, New Jersey. Prior to moving to Ocala, she lived in Rehoboth, Delaware.
She was an elementary school teacher for the Pocono Mountain School District, retiring in 1993.
She is survived by a son Kenneth Kresge from San Pablo, California and a daughter, Kathleen Wisner from Tigard, Delaware.

Walter R. Howell Sr.

Walter R. Howell Sr., 81, of Phillipsburg, N.J. passed away on Wednesday, April 21, at his home. He was the husband of the late Constance M. Cotugno, who passed away on April 22, 1992.
Born on April 1, 1918, in Belvidere, N.J., he was the son of the late Evan J. Howell and Jennie Rissmiller Howell. He attended Phillipsburg High School. He was a resident of Phillipsburg nearly all his life.
He was a moulder in the steel foundry at the Inger-Sol Rand Company in Phillisburg, for 30 years, retiring in 1980. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theatre.
He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Phillisburg. He was an usher and member of the church's Property Committee, and a volunteer for the Meals On Wheels program.
He is survived by a son, Walter R. Howell Jr. of Easton; a daughter, Dorothy M. Kohler of Blakeslee; and two grandsons. He was preceded in death by a brother, John Howell and a sister Gertrude Smith.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 26, from the Rupell Funeral Home, 465 Memorial Parkway, Phillisburg. Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Cheryl Ann (Charpentier) Turner, 51, passed away on Thursday, April 22, at her home on Stewart Avenue in Glens Falls, New York. She was the wife of Daniel P. Turner, at home. They were married 28 years ago, on April 9, 1971 in South Glens Falls.
Born on May 19, 1947, in Granville, she was the daughter of Margaret (McFarland) Charpentier of Glen Falls and the late Erwin G. Charpentier.
She graduated from Hudson Falls High School in 1965.
For several years, she was employed at the Glens Falls Middle School, prior to taking a position as Banquet and Dining Room Supervisor at the Glens Falls Country Club.
She enjoyed attending Broadway musicals in New York City, going on Caribbean vacations with her husband, and family gatherings. She also participated in the Glens Falls Operetta Club productions.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters , Heather M. Duers of Queensbury and Allison (Turner) Spencer and her husband, Jason, of Mooresville, N.C.; one son, Daniel P. Turner Jr. of Columbia. S.C.; three brothers , William A. Charpentier and his wife F. Jeanne of Hudson Falls, Dana G. Charpentier and his wife Cynthia of Fort Edward and Jeffrey E. Charpentier of East Stroudsburg; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, April 25, at the Carleton Funeral Home Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls, N.Y.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 26, at St. Mary's/St. Paul's Church on the park in Hudson Falls.
The Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in the Town of Fort Edward.

Dorothy Williamson, 89, of the Hainesburg section of Knowlton Township, N.J., died Friday at home.
Born in Cementon, Mrs. Williamson lived in Hunterdon County and Hope before moving to Hainesburg in 1952. A foster mother for more than 50 years, Mrs. Williamson retired June 6, 1998, having raised 104 foster children. She was the oldest member of Christ Baptist Church in Hainesburg.
The daughter of the late Peter and Jenny Applegate Raub, Mrs. Williamson was also predeceased by her husband, Paul Williamson Sr. on Aug. 7, 1982, and her son, Paul Williamson Jr. on Oct. 25, 1998. She is survived by five sons , Donald Williamson of Mansfield, Joseph Hurd Sr. of Portland, Fred Fritz of Easton, Albert Muhs of Theresa, N.Y., and Louis Muhs of California; one daughter, Barbara Werkheiser of Hainesburg, N.J.; one brother, Marshall Gregory of Nazareth; 21 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday at the Christ Baptist Church in Hainesburg, N.J. Interment will be at 10:45 a.m. Monday at Cedar Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Newbaker Funeral Home, Route 94, Blairstown, NJ 07825.

Michael W. Nameck, 81, of Stroudsburg died Saturday at the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg. He was the husband of Olga M. (Pasternak) Nameck to whom he had been married for 56 years.
Born on August 22, 1917 in Garfield, N.J., he was the son of the late William and Eva (Malinichak) Nameck and had lived in the area for the past ten years. He had previously lived in Garfield, N.J., Frackville and New York City. He worked for U.S. Rubber in New York City retiring in 1982.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army in the 2nd Armored Division in Africa and Europe. He was a member and choir member of the Holy Trinity Eastern Orthodox Church, Stroudsburg.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Marcia Shivas of Andover, N.J.; a son, Robert Nameck of Hollis, N.Y.; a granddaughter, Carol Nameck of New York, N.Y.; a grandson, Paul Nameck of Queens, N.Y.; two brothers , Andrew Nameck of Nevada and John Nameck of Red Lion, Pa., and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 9 a.m. in the Holy Trinity Eastern Orthodox Church, Stroudsburg with the Very Rev. Neal J. Carrigan officiating. Burial will follow in the Skyview Memorial Park, Hometown.
There will be a viewing on Monday from 3-5 p.m. and 7-8:30 p.m. with Paristas services at 7:30 p.m. at the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main Street, Stroudsburg.

Thomas J. Fairchild, 64, of Saylorsburg died Saturday, April 24, at his home.
He was the husband of Eleanor (Somers) Fairchild. They had been married 41 years.
Born in Kearny, N.J., he was the son of the late Harry and Alice (Huyler) Fairchild. He had worked as a machinist and manager at Sims Pump and Valve Co. in Hoboken, N.J., for 31 years until his retirement in 1993. Most recently he worked as an inspector for Pocono Machine Shop in Stroudsburg. He was a
Korean War Air Force Veteran.
He was a member of St. Peter's United Methodist Church in Saylorsburg.
In addition to his wife Eleanor, he is survived by three daughters , Cheryl. wife of Michael Samples of Decatur, Texas , Judith Wenzel of Saylorsburg, and Nancy, wife of Steven Rizzie of Park Ridge, N.J.; and two sisters , Carolyn, wife of George Grotheusen of Toms River, N.J., and Alice, wife of Charles Massey of Toms River, N.J. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Janel, Byron, Louis, Thomas, Steven and Anna. He was preceded in death by two brothers , Harry and Russell Fairchild.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 1, at St. Peter's United Methodist Church in Saylorsburg. There will be no viewing.

Patsy A. Dalia, 66, of Bushkill, died Saturday at Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg. He was the husband of Dolores V. (Venezia) Dalia, at home. They had been married for 40 years.
He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., a son of the late Joseph and Carmela (Antionette) Dalia. He had been a resident of Pike County for the past four years and prior to that, of Queens, N.Y. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Korea.
Prior to his retirement in 1978, he was employed by the Board of Education for the City of New York for 20 years. he was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and St. John's Seniors, the Bushkill Golden Friendship Club and the Forever Fifties.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters , Teresa Catalano of Coatesville and Danielle Dalia of Howard Beach, N.Y.; two sons , Pat Anthony Dalia and Steven S. Dalia, both of Howard Beach, N.Y.; three grandchildren, three sisters , five brothers , many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 1, in St. John's Catholic Church, Milford Road, East Stroudsburg, with Monsignor Kevin O'Neill as the celebrant.
Cremation will take place in Arlington Crematory, White hall Township. Interment will be in St. Charles Cemetery, New York. Relatives and friends may pay their respects from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Saturday in St. John's Church.

John J. Grier, 80, of Brodheadsville, died Saturday in his home. He was the husband of Frances (Daley) Grier. They would have observed their 37th wedding anniversary next month.
Born in Archbald, he was the son of the late Joseph and Helen Grier.
He had been the sexton at the First Presbyterian Church in Cranford, N.J., for 12 years before retiring in 1971. Later he worked as a night watchman at Addy Asphalt in Wilkes-Barre for seven years, retiring from there in 1983.
He was a member of Christ Hamilton United Lutheran Church in Hamilton Square.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Ralph Spencer of Whiting, N.J.; a daughter, Mildred Kursawe of Garwood, N.J.; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Cecil Spencer.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday from the Kresge Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ralph Boyer IV and Fred Robertson officiating. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery, Linden, N.J. A viewing will be held on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

James E. Richardson, 77, of Stroudsburg, died Tuesday at home.
He was born in Clearwater, Fla., a son of the late Jacob and Victoria (Predue) Richardson. He had been a resident of Monroe County for most of his lifetime. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Prior to his retirement, he was an electrical engineer at the Inn at Buck Hill Falls for many years.
He is survived by two daughters , Shirley Richardson of North Miami, Fla., and Patricia McRae of Clearwater, Fla.; two sons , Alvin Richardson of Miami, Fla., and Bobby Dickson of Largo, Fla.; a brother, Joseph Richardson of St. Petersburg, Fla.; several nieces and nephews.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no viewing.
