Celia Emma Weidman

March 24, 1999

Celia Emma Weidman, age 71, of Kunkletown, died Wednesday, March 24, 1999, at the Palmerton Hospital in Palmerton. She was the wife of Roland Weidman.

Born in Pen Argyl, she was the daughter of the late Emrys S. Rowlands and the late Hilda (Oliver) Albert.

She had been a sewing machine operator at Lee's Fashions in Kunkletown, for 15 years, retiring in 1985.

She had attended Calvary Baptist Church in Hamilton Township.

She was a member of the Fairview Senior Citizens of Brodheadsville, and the International Ladies Garment Workers Union in Allentown.

In addition to her husband, Roland, she is survived by four sons : Gary Weidman, Dale Weidman, Martin "Marty" Weidman and Danny Weidman, all of Kunkletown; a daughter, Joy, wife of Barry Knecht of Kunkletown; three brothers : Charles Albert of Florida; Leon Albert of East Stroudsburg; and Wayne Albert of Kunkletown; one sister, Bonnie Buskirk; a granddaughter, Melissa Weidman of Kunkletown; a grandson, Gary Weidman Jr. of Kunkletown; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, George Weidman.

Funeral services will begin 11 a.m., Saturday, March 27, 1999, at the Donald N. Gower Funeral Home Inc., Route 209, Gilbert, with the Pastor Larry Thornton officiating. Viewing will be held 10 a.m., Saturday until the time of the services. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Fairview Senior Citizens, C/O Hazel Corby, HC 1, Box 514, Brodheadsville, PA 18322.

Mabel I. Goucher

March 23, 1999

Mabel I. Goucher, 72, of East Stroudsburg, died Tuesday evening in Lehigh Valley Hospital Center, Salisbury Township. She was the wife of the late Oscar E. Goucher Sr., who died in 1978.

Born on June 7, 1926, in East Stroudsburg, she was the daughter of the late James and Lula (Hallett) Repsher and had lived in the area all of her life. She was a retired seamstress, having worked at the former Casual Togs in Stroudsburg for many years.

A graduate of East Stroudsburg High School, she was a life member of the East Stroudsburg United Methodist Church; a member of the Fifty Year Plus Alumni Association of the East Stroudsburg High School; and a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union, where she served as an officer.

She is survived by two daughters , Jeanette Muffley of East Stroudsburg and Sylvia Barrett of Stroudsburg; three sons : Oscar E. Goucher Jr. of Henryville; Kenneth Goucher of East Stroudsburg; and Robert Goucher of Harrisburg; 13 grandsons; one granddaughter; 10 great-grandchildren; and her long time companion, Gerald Lee Sr. at home.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. in the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main Street, Stroudsburg, with Rev. Raymond P. Poortstra officiating. Burial will follow in the Prospect Cemetery, East Stroudsburg.

There will be a viewing on Saturday from 12 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Pocono Mountain Area Kidney Foundation, 62 Analomink Street, East Stroudsburg, PA 18301.

Frances A. Pascocello

March 23, 1999

Frances A. Pascocello, 90, of Kunkletown, died on Tuesday, March 23, at Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg. She was the wife of the late Albert J. Pascocello, who died in 1984.

She was born in Union, N.J., a daughter of the late William and Amelia (McMurray) Sutherland. She had been a resident of Monroe County since 1968 and prior to that of Long Island, N.Y. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Craigs Meadow.

She is survived by a daughter, Sarita Stuhler of Syosset, N.Y.; a son, Anthony Pascocello of Farmingville, N.Y.; four grandchildren, Stephanie Pascocello, Christina Pascocello, Jennifer Pendleton and Jason Stuhler.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 26, at noon in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Craigs Meadow Road, Marshalls Creek, with the Rev. John W. Berglund officiating.

Interment will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Craigs Meadow. Relatives and friends may pay their respects at the church on Friday from 11 a.m. until the time of the services.

At the request of the family, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Monroe Unit, RR 2, Box 2138, Stroudsburg, PA 18360.

Sean B. Lohman, 16, of East Stroudsburg, died Wednesday, March 24.

He was born in East Stroudsburg, a son of Sherwood B. Lohman of East Stroudsburg and Mary (Bates) Miller of East Stroudsburg.

He was a sophomore at East Stroudsburg High School.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Brenda Stevens of East Stroudsburg; a brother, Joseph Stevens of Brodheadsville; maternal grandmother, Claudia Clark of Pleasantville, N.J.; paternal grandparents, Donald and Thelma Lohman of Bangor; stepfather, Reginald K. Miller Jr. of East Stroudsburg; step sister, Regina K. Miller of Cresco; step brother, Reginald K. Miller III of Cresco; step grandmother, Frances Miller of Stroudsburg; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Monday evening at 8 p.m. in the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, 27 Washington Street, East Stroudsburg, with the Rev. Robert Shrom officiating.

Cremation will take place in the Arlington Crematory, White hall Township. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Monday from 5 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

At the request of the family, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Sean B. Lohman Scholarship Fund, in care of East Stroudsburg School District, Attn: Superintendent's Office, 321 North Courtland Street, East Stroudsburg.

Hilda S. Dimmick

March 25, 1999

Hilda S. Dimmick, 85, of Winter Haven, Fla., died on Thursday, March 25, at the Winter Haven Hospital. She was the wife of the late Lester W. Dimmick, Sr. who died March 15, 1995.

She was born in Bethlehem, a daughter of the late William H. and Kate (Koffel) Scheirer. She was a former member of the East Stroudsburg Presbyterian Church for over 50 years. She taught Nursery and Kindergarten classes for 13 years and was a member of the Church Choir for many years. She was a member of the Golden Rule Class at the church.

Prior to her retirement, she was a buyer and a department head for the former A. B. Wyckoff Department Store in Stroudsburg for 17 years.

She is survived by a son, L. William Dimmick II of Marshalls Creek; two daughters , Suzanne M. Viechnicki of Indian Lake Estates, Fla. and Mary D. Meyer of Silver Springs, Md.; two sisters , Jane Hummel of Lebanon and Althea Jacobs of Washington , D.C.; 13 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 30, at 11 a.m. in the Middle Smithfield Presbyterian Church, 5205 Milford Road, East Stroudsburg, with the Rev. Samuel Huffard officiating.

Interment will be in the Stroudsburg Cemetery, Stroudsburg.

Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Tuesday at the Church from 10 a.m. to the time of the services.

At the request of the family, memorial donations may be made to either the Middle Smithfield Presbyterian Church, 5205 Milford Road, East Stroudsburg, or the American Cancer Society, Monroe Unit, RR 2, Box 2138, Stroudsburg.

March 25, 1999

Beatrice H. Dippre, 90, of Breinigsville, died on Thursday, March 25, at the Lehigh Valley Hospital Center in Salisbury Township. She was the wife of the late Andrew P. Dippre.

She was born in Newark, N.J., a daughter of the late John and Rose (Kibin) Sargeant. She had been a resident of the Pocono Area for most of her life.

Beatrice was a homemaker whose hobby was needlework. She had been active in the Middle Smithfield Republican Club for many years. She served as inspector of elections in Middle Smithfield for many years. She was a Life Member of the Monroe Council of Republican Women for nearly 50 years, serving in various offices including secretary and treasurer.

She is survived by three daughters , Doris Boehmer of Breinigsville, Edith Miller and Catherine Williams, both of East Stroudsburg; a son, Andrew Dippre of Williamsburg, Va.; eight grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 29, at 2 p.m. in the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, 27 Washington Street, East Stroudsburg, with the Rev. Dr. C. Alton Roberts officiating.

Interment will be in the Prospect Cemetery, East Stroudsburg.

Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Monday from 1 p.m. until the time of the services at Lanterman & Allen.

Irene I. Hawk

March 25, 1999

Irene I. Hawk, 77, of RD 3, Kunkletown, died Thursday in Sacred Heart Hospital, Allentown.

She was the wife of Jacob Hawk. They had observed their 47th wedding anniversary in January.

Born in RD 3, Kunkletown, she was a daughter of the late Adam and Beatrice (Kuehner) Meckes.

She had worked in a blouse factory in Kunkletown for many years before retiring. Prior to that, she had taught school in Eldred Township for 3 years.

She had attended East Stroudsburg State College.

She was the inspector of elections in Eldred Township, a position she had held for many years. She was a member of the Kunkletown Volunteer Fire Company Auxiliary and she had served on committees for the West End Fair Association for many years.

She was a member of Jerusalem Lutheran Church in Trachsville.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Earl and Joyce Meckes, of RD 3, Kunkletown.

Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday from Jerusalem Lutheran Church in Trachsville with the Rev. Charles Stetler officiating. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Trachsville Cemetery. There will be no viewing.

John Milton Wood

March 25, 1999

John Milton Wood, 87, of Indian Mt. Lakes, Albrightsville, and formerly of Ridley Park, died Thursday in Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg.

He was the husband of Johanna (Naumann) Wood. They had observed their 64th wedding anniversary last June.

Born in Linwood, he was a son of the late John H. and Elizabeth (Achenbach) Wood.

He had lived in Ridley Park for 36 years before moving to Albrightsville.

He had been a sheet metal worker in the Philadelphia Navy Yard for 23 years, retiring in 1972.

He was a member of Zion United Lutheran Church in Brodheadsville and he had been a long time member of St. Matthew's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Woodlyn.

He was a member of the Western Pocono Lions Club, the Fairview Senior Citizens in Brodheadsville, the Young at Heart Senior Citizens in Kresgeville and the 1198 Retired Association in Tobyhanna.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Milton and Barbara Wood of Wilmington, Del.; a brother, George Wood of Milmont Park; a sister, Elizabeth Wood of Wallingford; three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday from St. Matthew's Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev. Donald G. Krewson Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Lawn Croft cemetery in Linwood. A viewing will be held on Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. from the Kresge Funeral Home, Route 209, Brodheadsville. Rev. William Zimmermann will conduct a service at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday from the funeral home. An additional visitation will be held on Monday from noon until the time of the service from the church in Woodlyn.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to VNA/Hospice of Monroe County, RR 5, Box 5169, Suite 101, East Stroudsburg, PA 18301.
