Christine E. Overpeck, 52, of Saylorsburg, died Saturday in the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg. She was the wife of Howard N. Overpeck Jr. They had observed their 24th wedding anniversary in August 1998.
Born in Hickory, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Kenneth Lockard Sr. and the late Helen Mae (Hardy) Lockard.
She had worked at Gino & Jack's Sportswear in Bath for the past 18 years. She was a member of Christ Hamilton United Lutheran Church in Hamilton Square.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons , Jeffrey Hartman of Easton and Shane Overpeck at home; a daughter, Kimberly Hartman of Saylorsburg; eight brothers , Robert Beehler of Reeders, Kenneth Lockard Jr. of Tatamy, James Lockard of Spring Mt., Paul Lockard of Hellertown, Thomas Mimlitsch of Allentown, David Mimlitsch of Bethlehem, James Mimlitsch of Bangor and Francis Mimlitsch of Easton; four sisters , Beverly Azzalina of Quakertown, Barbara Ewaniuk of Emmaus, Cheryl Herb and Benita Logan both of Easton; four grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 25, from the Kresge Funeral Home, Route 290, Brodheadsville, with the Rev. Ralph Boyer IV and Fred Robertson officiating. Burial will be in Green Ridge Cemetery, Brodheadsville. A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service, on Thursday.

Gertrude Monzi DeFelice, 80, passed away March 21, at the Westminister Village Nursing Facility. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert DeFelice, in 1997.
She was born in New York City, New York, the daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret Monzi.
She is survived by one son, Charles DeFelice of New Jersey and one daughter, Marjorie Babaz of Cresco. Also surviving is one nephew, Walter Monzi Jr. of New York.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, March 26, at the McCourt & Trudden Funeral Home, 385 Main Street, Farmingdale, New York. Burial will be at St. Charles Cemetery, Farmingdale.

Mildred LaBar, 93, formerly of The Episcopal Apartments of the Slate Belt, Bangor, died Tuesday morning, March 23, in Slate Belt Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Washington Township, where she was a guest since December 4, 1998.
She was the widow of T. Roland "Brownie" LaBar, who died on January 8, 1977.
Born March 18, 1906, in Upper Mt. Bethel Township, she was a daughter of the late Foster and Anna (Warrick) Handelong.
Mrs. LaBar had been employed by the former Buffalo Knitting Mill, Pen Argyl, for 17 years until her retirement in 1973. Prior to this, she had been employed by the former Kayser Hosiery Mill, Bangor.
She was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Johnsonville. and a member of the I.L.G.W.U. She was a former member of both the T.O.R.A. Club at the Episcopal Apartments and the Home League of the Salvation Army, Pen Argyl.
She is survived by one sister, Nora Shotko of Washington Township; one grandson and two great-grandchildren. A son, Roland LaBar and a daughter, June Becker, died earlier.
Graveside Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday in East Bangor Cemetery, East Bangor. There will be no viewing.

Walter Erdman Fohrenck

Walter Erdman Fohrenck, 71, late of Pocono Mountain Lake Estates, Bushkill, died on Monday, March 22, 1999, at his home. Walter was a retired Operating Engineer with Local #825, Newark, N.J.
Mr. Fohrenck was born to the late Walter and Alice (Davis) Fohrenck in Bronx, N.Y., on November 8, 1927. Walter was married to the former Reba Reinholt.
Mr. Fohrenck was an Army Veteran of WW II and also a Marine Veteran of the
Korean War. Walter was an active member of both the American Legion Post #514, Bushkill, and the V.F.W. Post #2540, East Stroudsburg.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Reba Jane Fohrenck, at home. He is also survived by his step-children, David Hall of Denville, N.J., Suzanne Fakhrzadeh of East Brunswick, N.J., Beth Gallagher of Sayreville, N.J., Greg Hall of Thomson, Ga., Gerry Ondrick of Carteret, N.J., Barbara Ruszczyk of Freehold, N.J., Elaine Fischer of Jackson, N.J., and Diane Doyle of S. Amboy, N.J.; 17 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Cremation took place at the H.G. Smith Crematory, Stroudsburg.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, March 27, at 2 p.m., at the American Legion Post #514, Milford Road, Bushkill.
Final interment will be at the convenience of the family.

Frances A. Pascocello

Frances A. Pascocello, 90, of Kunkletown, died on Tuesday, March 23, at Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg. She was the wife of the late Albert J. Pascocello, who died in 1984.
She was born in Union, N.J., a daughter of the late William and Amelia (McMurray) Sutherland. She had been a resident of Monroe County since 1968 and prior to that of Long Island, N.Y. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Craigs Meadow.
She is survived by a daughter, Sarita Stuhler of Syosset, N.Y.; a son, Anthony Pascocello of Farmingdale, N.Y.; four grandchildren, Stephanie Pascocello, Christina Pascocello, Jennifer Pendleton and Jason Stuhler.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 26, at noon in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Craigs Meadow Road, Marshalls Creek, with the Rev. John W. Berglund officiating.
Interment will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Craigs Meadow. Relatives and friends may pay their respects at the church on Friday from 11 a.m. until the time of the services.

Tanya J. Rodenbaugh, 18, of Cresco, died on Monday, March 22, at Pocono Medical Center.
She was born in East Stroudsburg, the daughter of Harold and Belinda (Evans) Rodenbaugh. She was a lifetime resident of Monroe County.
Tanya was employed as a waitress for Gio's Pizza House in Bartonsville for the last three years. Previous to that, she was a student at East Stroudsburg High School.
She is survived by her parents, Harold and Belinda (Evans) Rodenbaugh, at home; a brother, Ryan Rodenbaugh, at home; her fiancé, David J. Fox, at home; her maternal grandfather, Norman Evans of Penns Grove, N.J. and her maternal great grandmother, Alice Evans, also of Penns Grove, N.J.
A service will be held on Friday, March 26, at the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Drenna L. Miller officiating. Relatives and friends may pay their respects from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. prior to the funeral service.
Cremation will take place in the H.G. Smith Crematory in Stroudsburg.

William M. Fraser, 85, of Stroudsburg, died February 27, at Mercy Hospital, Scranton.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 27, 11:30 a.m., at the East Stroudsburg United Methodist Church, 83 S. Courtland Street, East Stroudsburg, with the Rev. Edward Kimes officiating.
He is survived by his wife, Helen G. (Gwardyak) Fraser, at home; a son, Ward G. Fraser of Cedarhurst, N.Y.; a daughter, Whitney G. Torning of Bangor; a brother, John Fraser of California; and three grandchildren.

Murrel Ridgeway Kiefer

Murrel Ridgeway Kiefer, 93, State College, formerly of Stroudsburg, died on February 3, 1999, at The Fairways at Brookline Village in State College. He was the husband of the late Jean (Turn) Kiefer, who died on March 13, 1995. The couple was married on March 30, 1929.
Born in Easton, he was the son of the late Elmer J. and Mary R. Kiefer.
He was a graduate of Pennsylvania State University in 1929. At Penn State, he was a member of Chi Phi Fraternity; Scarab, an Architecture Honorary Fraternity; on the staff of "Froth", the 1928 LaVie yearbook; and played varsity lacrosse during his junior and senior years.
He was a founding partner in the architectural firm of Rinker, Kiefer and Rake, later RKR Associates in Stroudsburg, from which he retired in 1973.
During World War II, he commanded the 876th Airborne Engineer Aviation Battalion, serving three years, three months in the European Theatre. He held the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and was awarded the Bronze Star medal.
He was a member of the Stroudsburg Presbyterian Church, where he was also an elder and trustee; a former Rotarian; a member emeritus of the American Institute of Architects; a member of the Quite Valley Historical Farm; Monroe County Museum Society and a former member of the Stroudsburg Planning Commission.
He is survived by a son, Peter T. Kiefer, the husband of Julia of State College; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a niece, Ency Richardson of Harwinton, Conn. He was preceded in death by a son, Jon Lawrence Kiefer; a brother, Elmer Kiefer; and a sister, Nellie Hoagland.
Friends are invited to attend graveside services on Saturday, March 27, 1999, at 10 a.m. in the Laurelwood Cemetery, Stroudsburg, with Rev. Carol Brown officiating.

Dorothy H. Phillips, 92, of Stroudsburg, died Tuesday, March 23, in the Pleasant Valley Manor Nursing Home, Snydersville. She was the widow of Eugene H. Phillips who died in 1964.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late William and Mary (Grady) Logan. She was a resident of Stroudsburg for the past 4 years and prior to that lived in the Brooklyn, N.Y., area all her life.
She was of the Catholic faith, being a former member of St. Andrews Roman Catholic Church in Brooklyn, N.Y.
She was employed as a receptionist for a doctor's office for many years while living in the New York area.
She is survived by a daughter, Dorothy J. Seyfang of Stroudsburg; four grandchildren: Stephen Burke of Houston, Texas ; Kevin Burke of Lake Shawnee, N.J.; Suzan Pauling of Albemarle, N.C.; and Patricia Cinelli of Lake Hopatcong, N.J.; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 26 at 12 noon from the Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home, 23 North Ninth Street, Stroudsburg, with the Rev. Thomas D. McLaughlin officiating.
Burial will be in New York at the convenience of the family.
Visitation will be on Friday, March 26, from 11 a.m. until the time of the services.

Ruth N. "Momma Knitter" Knitter, 76, of Wind Gap, died Wednesday, March 24, at her residence.
Born June 22, 1922, in Scotrun, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Emma Transue Groner.
Before retiring in 1985, she was the manger of the snack bar at the former Valerie Fashions, Wind Gap.
Her husband, LeRoy J. "Jake", died June 28, 1995.
She was a member of Bender's Mennonite Church, Plainfield Township.
She was a 50 year member, past president, past treasurer, past secretary, and past chaplain of the Wind Gap American Legion Auxiliary, Post 724. She was the past secretary of the Women's Auxiliary to the M.O.C., No. 16195, Bangor. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW, No. 739, Bangor, and was a life member of the Appalachian Fiddle and Bluegrass Association, Wind Gap. She was a member of the Senior Citizens organization, Wind Gap.
She is survived by two sons , Thomas W. of Wind Gap, and Bruce E. of Pen Argyl; four grandchildren, Gwyn, Natalie, Jana, and Tyler; four sisters , Viola Peters of Easton, Martha Heitzman and Lorraine Engler, both of Bushkill Township, and Lucille Wallace of Edelman's.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 27, at 11 a.m. at Bender's Mennonite Church, Bender's Church Road, Pen Argyl. There will be a viewing Friday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Guerro & Ruggiero Funeral Home, 126 E. Pennsylvania Avenue, Pen Argyl and one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be in Plainfield Cemetery, Plainfield Township.
