Virginia Ann Beegle, 50, of Nazareth, died on Thursday, March 11, at the Gracedale Nursing Home.
She was born in Easton, a daughter of the late Glenwood A. and Doris J. (Staples) Beegle. She had been a life long resident of Northampton County.
She is survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no viewing.
Interment will be in the Prospect Cemetery, East Stroudsburg.

William Wayne Parrish

William Wayne Parrish "Tex", 65, formerly of Stroudsburg, died on February 25, 1999, after a long illness in Lufkin, Texas .
He is survived by two sons , William J. Parrish of East Stroudsburg and Wayne Parrish of Stroudsburg; a daughter, Karen Hallman of Bethlehem; and eight grandchildren.
He had been employed by Rosen Corp and later by Kurtz Training Center. He had been an active member of the Pocono Mountain Bass Masters; Pocono Mountain Leisure and Recreation Ministry; and a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Tannersville.
He was laid to rest in the Parrish Family Cemetery in Hortence, Texas .

Martin E. Serfass, 98, of Kresgeville, died Thursday in Palmerton Hospital. He was the husband of the late Esther L. (Christman) Serfass.
Born in Gilbert, he was a son of the late William Roger and Abbie (Christman) Serfass.
He had worked for the New Jersey Zinc Co. in Palmerton for over 40 years before retiring. He had also worked on many of the Monroe County roads, especially in Polk Township as part of the Public Works Administration. He had also farmed in the Kresgeville area for many years.
He was a member of Salem St. Paul Lutheran Church where he was a former treasurer. He had also been the church custodian for many years.
He was a member of the Polk Township Volunteer Fire Company in Kresgeville; the West End Ambulance Association in Effort; and he was a lifetime member of the Patriotic Order of the sons of America in Kresgeville.
He is survived by a son, Richard Serfass of Kresgeville; two daughters , Pauline Krechel of Kresgeville and Dorothy Meckes of RD 3 Lehighton; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday from Salem St. Paul Lutheran Church in Kresgeville, with the Rev. Deborah Scheffey officiating. Burial will be in Kresgeville Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service from the church.

Marjorie A. Reilly, 82, formerly of Bartonsville, died Thursday at the Milford Manor in East Stroudsburg.
She was born Sept. 19, 1916, in Johnsonburg, N.J., a daughter of the late Albert and Grace Poole Howell. She was a graduate of the Newark City Hospital School of Nursing, class of 1939. Mrs. Reilly was formerly employed as a registered nurse in New York City and as a registered industrial nurse for Johnson and Johnson in North Brunswick, N.J., retiring in 1979.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert J. Reilly in 1992; brothers : Harry, George, Walter, Albert and Russell Howell; sisters : Bessie Howell; Kathryn Morgan; Dorothy Arnold; Mary Porter; and Olive Heycock.
She is survived by a step-son, Gilbert Reilly; two step- daughters , Catherine Brill and Gertrude Reilly; three grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 10 a.m. from the Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, Park Avenue and South Street, Wilkes-Barre, with Rev. J. William Reseigh, Pastor of the Laurel Run Primitive Methodist Church, officiating. Entombment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton.
Friends may call Saturday morning from 8 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home.

Joseph Ludwig Paluchowski

Joseph Ludwig Paluchowski, age 74, of Kresgeville died Friday at the Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg. He was the husband of Anna (Ostrowski) Paluchowski. They celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary.
Born in Newark, N.J., he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary Paluchowski.
He owned and operated Topsin Armatures in Elizabeth, N.J., and in Plainfield, N.J. for over 25 years.
He was an Army World War II veteran.
He was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Gilbert.
He was a member of Msgr. Connell Council #7141 Knights of Columbus in Brodheadsville and the American Legion Post #927 in Gilbert.
In addition to his wife Anna, he is survived by a daughter, Patricia wife of Michael Mermini of Toms River; two sons , Joseph and his wife Debra Paluchowksi of Neptune, N.J., and Chester "Chet" and his wife Diane of White House Station, N.J.; a brother, Casey Paluchowski of Newark, N.J.; two sisters , Julie Paluchowski of Newark, N.J., and Jean Zarowski of Union, N.J.; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 16 at the Donald N. Gower Funeral Home, Route 209, in Gilbert. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, in Gilbert, with Rev. Father William McCawley celebrant.
Viewing will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Mon., March 15, at the funeral home. Services by the American Legion and Knights of Columbus will take place during the evening hours.
Interment will be at 12:30 p.m. at the Gates of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover, N.J..

Anna Ziegler, 76, Pocono Pines, died on Friday at Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg. She was the wife of the late Robert Ziegler.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Julia Antoloci.
She worked for several years for a dress mill in Tannersville.
She is survived by a son, Rob Ziegler, Tannersville; a daughter, Sandra Franzino, Franklin Lakes, N.J.; a brother, Joseph Antoloci, Wilkes-Barre; a sister, Mary Buli, Wilkes-Barre; and three grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 20, at 11 a.m. in the Prospect Cemetery, East Stroudsburg.
The Thomas Funeral Home, 401 N. Fifth St., Stroudsburg, is in charge of arrangements.

The Reverend Daniel A. McCarthy, pastor emeritus of Saint Charles Borromeo Church, Sugar Notch, died Saturday morning, March 13, at Community Medical Center's VNA Hospice Unit, Scranton, following an illness.
Father McCarthy, son of the late Daniel F. and Margaret Kelly McCarthy, was born in Avoca, on Feb. 10, 1910. His early education was in Saint Mary's Parochial School, Avoca, and Saint John the Evangelist High School, Pittston. Father graduated from Saint Charles College, Catonsville, Md. He completed his studies for the priesthood at St. Mary's Seminary, Baltimore, Md. Father was ordained to the priesthood at Saint Peter's Cathedral, Scranton, by the Most Rev. Bernard Mahoney, late Bishop of Sioux Falls, S.D., on May 22, 1937.
Following ordination, Father McCarthy's first assignment was as assistant pastor at Saint Mary's Church, Lackawaxen. He served in a similar capacity at Saint Basil's Church, Dushore; Holy Cross Church, Scranton; Saint John the Evangelist Church, Scranton; Nativity of Our Lord Church, Scranton. From April 1946, through October 1956, Father McCarthy served as chaplain at Mercy Hospital, Scranton. Father 's first pastorate was in October 1956 at Saint Francis Xavier Church, Overton. In August 1959, he was named pastor of Saint Joseph's Church, St. Joseph, and in September 1965 he was named pastor of Saint Ann's Church, Shohola. In September 1967, Father was appointed pastor of Saint Charles Borromeo Church, Sugar Notch, where he remained until his appointment as pastor emeritus on Sept. 4, 1985.
Having learned sign language as a young man, Father McCarthy was a pioneer in the Diocese's Apostolate to the Deaf. He began this ministry in September 1938. Father served as Moderator of the Catholic Deaf Society of Wilkes-Barre.
Father enjoyed the game of golf, and in 1985, at the age of 75, he scored the second hole-in-one of his career at the 15th hole at a Wyoming Valley golf course. He used a four wood on the 154-yard hole.
Father is survived by two nephews, James, Avoca, and Joseph, Haddonfield, N.J.; two nieces, Sister M. Daniela McCarthy, I.H.M., Scranton, and Anna Marie Horbelt, Middletown, N.J. He was preceded in death by four brothers , John, Justin, Charles and Edward; and by a sister, Mary Mullen.
A Pontifical Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Most Rev. James C. Timlin, D.D., Bishop of Scranton, on Tuesday, March 16, at 11 a.m. in Saint Mary's Church, Avoca. A Vigil Mass will be celebrated on Monday, March 15, at 7 p.m., with the Rev. Patrick D. Healey, a cousin, presiding. Viewing will be in Saint Mary's Rectory from 2 p.m. until the time of the Vigil Mass. Viewing will also take place Tuesday morning prior to the 11 a.m. Funeral Mass. Interment will be in Saint Mary's Cemetery, Avoca.

Virginia L.R. Sidman, 70, of Pocono Summit, died unexpectedly on Saturday, March 13, at Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg. She was the wife of Jack G. Sidman.
She was born in Philadelphia, the daughter of the late Leon and Sophie (Ragerski) Rajkowski, and graduated from Little Flower High School in Philadelphia.
Virginia was very dedicated to God and her family, and loved life.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, John G. Sidman Jr. of Norwich, Conn.; three daughters , Anita M.E. Maher of Mount Pocono, Paulette T. Gibbons of Forty-Fort and Brenda L. Diaz of Tannersville; two brothers , John Rajkowski of Philadelphia and Ben Rajkowski of Egg Harbor, N.J.; a sister, Pauline Byron of Philadelphia; six grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers , Leon and Joseph Rajkowski.
Monsignor Arthur Kaschenbach will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, March 17, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary of the Mount Church, Fairview Avenue, Mount Pocono. Entombment will follow at Prospect Cemetery in East Stroudsburg.
A viewing will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, March 16, at the Bolock Funeral Home.

John C. Hatton Sr., 85, East Stroudsburg, died on Monday morning at Stroud Manor in East Stroudsburg. He was the husband of Thelma (Predmore) Hatton, at home.
Born in East Stroudsburg, he was the son of the late Charles J. and Helen (Diamond) Hatton. He was a lifelong resident of East Stroudsburg.
He was a self-employed carpenter/contractor for 30 years in East Stroudsburg and was employed by Cramer's in East Stroudsburg for 20 years.
He was a member of the V.F.W. Post #2540 in East Stroudsburg and was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, John C. Hatton Jr. of Nazareth; and a granddaughter, Jessica Hatton of Nazareth. He was preceded in death by a brother, Earl Hatton.
Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Miles M. Meckes

Miles "Jake" M. Meckes, 83, of Wilkes-Barre, formerly of Long Pond, died Sunday, March 14, at the Summit Health Care Center in Wilkes-Barre. Born in Cherry Valley, he was the son of the late Harrison and Ada Mae (Keiper) Meckes.
He was a heavy equipment operator all his life having worked for H.F. Gower in Effort and Harold Burger in Kresgeville, until his retirement in 1965.
He was a World War II Decorated Army Veteran serving in the 1st Battalion-179th Infantry having served in the European Theater receiving a Purple Heart and six Bronze Stars. He was a member of the American Legion Post 413 in Pocono Lake.
He is survived by two sisters , Claire Binkley of Scotrun, and Gymane Bush of East Stroudsburg; three brothers , Thomas Meckes and Claude Meckes both of Long Pond, and Dewey Meckes of Sciota; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by six sisters , Cora, Adalaide, Virginia, Jacqueline, Gloria, and Golden; and three brothers , Louis, Allen, and Robert.
Full military Honor Graveside Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 18, at Fort Indiantown Gap National Veterans Cemetery in Annville, with the Rev. Dale Cowan officiating.
Viewing will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 17, at the Donald N. Gower Funeral Home, Route 209, Gilbert, with American Legion Services at 8 p.m.
