Rose Falcone, 94, formerly of Roseto Avenue, Roseto, died Monday morning, March 8 in Slate Belt Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Washington Township., where she was a guest for three years.
She was the Widow of Joseph A. Falcone, who died on July 20, 1984.
Born April 29, 1904 in Roseto, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Anna Marie (Ingelbio) Sylvester.
Mrs. Falcone was a garment worker for 40 years at several Roseto area blouse mills, retiring in 1961.
She was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Roseto. Also a member of the I.L.G.W.U.
She is survived by a daughter, Rose M. Gargone, of Stroudsburg, Monroe County; a son, Michael A. Falcone, of Roseto; 4 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by a son, Faust Falcone, who died in 1950 and two sisters , Mamie Sabatine and Lucy LaPenna.
Funeral Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday from The Hough Home for Funerals, Inc., 207 Market Street, Bangor, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday from Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Third and Garibaldi Avenues, Roseto. Interment will be in the Parish Cemetery, Roseto. Friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Carlyle Schmalzle

Carlyle "Cork" Schmalzle, age 70, of Newfoundland, died Sunday, March 7, at his home. Born in Matamoras, a son of the late George and Beatrice Marsch Schmalzle. He was the husband of Verna Mae (Steiger) Schmalzle, at home.
Cork owned and operated Cork's Service Station at Newfoundland from 1953 until the present.
He was a member of Salem Lodge #330, F&AM Hamlin and the Keystone Consistory; a member of Post 859 American Legion, Newfoundland; VFW Post 575, Greentown.
Cork was a 1948 graduate of Greene Dreher High School in Newfoundland. A veteran of the
Korean War he served with the 873rd Transport Co., Ft. Eustis, Virginia.
He enjoyed fishing in Canada and Florida.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Kim and husband Kevin Clare of Newfoundland; a son Kirk and wife Patti Schmalzle of Newfoundland; and five grandchildren: Ryan Schmalzle, Rhiannon Shaw, Shalyn Shaw, Brittany Shaw and Caitlin Clare, all of Newfoundland.
He was preceded in death by a brother George Schmalzle.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 10 at 11 a.m. in the Arthur J. Frey Funeral Home, Route 191, LaAnna, with the Rev. Nathan R. Gilpin officiating. Burial will be in Moravian Cemetery, Newfoundland. Friends may call Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Albert F. Getz Jr., age 57, of Ocala, Fla., formerly of East Stroudsburg, died on March 4, 1999.
He was born on April 13, 1941, the son of the late Albert F. Getz Sr. and Mildred (Bush) Getz.
He is survived by three daughters : Theresa Cox of Ocala, Fla.; Wendy Oddy of East Stroudsburg; and Lynn Watson of Stroudsburg; six grandchildren; a step son, Barry Afghani of Stroudsburg; three step-grandchildren; a brother, William Getz of Stroudsburg; three sisters : Ida Getz of Easton; Alberta Weiss of East Stroudsburg; and Ruth Bird of Stroudsburg; and many nieces and nephews.
Burial will be at the Cherry Lane Methodist Cemetery in East Stroudsburg, at the convenience of the family.

Dorothy Matheson, age 92, of Kunkletown, died Saturday, March 6, 1999, at the Pleasant Valley Manor, Hamilton Township, Stroudsburg.
She was the wife of the late Morris S. Matheson who died in 1986.
Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, she was the daughter of the late George F. and Julie G. (Slaughter) Scranton.
She was of the Protestant Faith.
She is survived by two sons : Philip D. and his wife Carol Matheson of Kunkletown; and Douglas and his wife Ingrid Matheson of New York City, N.Y.
She is also survived by two grandsons: Craig and his wife Barbara Matheson of Nazareth; and Eric and his wife Marcia Matheson of Houston, Texas ; and one granddaughter, Julie and her husband Jeffrey Grubb of State College; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, March 12, 1999, at the Donald N. Gower Funeral Home, Inc., Route 209, Gilbert, with the Rev. Gerald Miller officiating. Interment will be at 1:30 p.m. in the Beulah Cemetery, New Britain. Visitation will be held at 10:30 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.

Kimberly Ann Eckley, 31, of Frackville, died Sunday in Good Samaritan Medical Center, Pottsville.
She was the wife of Donald James Eckley. They would have observed their 7th wedding anniversary this month.
Born in East Stroudsburg, she was a daughter of Kenneth E. Zacharias of Dotters Corner and Mrs. Ted (Carol) Fehr of RD 6, Stroudsburg.
She was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by two sons , Jacob and Jarad Eckley at home; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Allen Zacharias of Dotters Corner; and maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Kjar of Neola. She was preceded in death by a son, Derreck Kenneth Zacharias, and by a daughter, Devin Nicole Frable.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday from the Kresge Funeral Home, Route 209, Brodheadsville, with the Rev. Arthur Boswell officiating. Burial will be in Dotters Corner Cemetery. There will be a closed casket visitation on Friday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.

Frederick Clarence Lehmer, 58, of Robinhood Lakes Development, Kunkletown, died Tuesday, March 9, 1999, at his home.
Born in Passaic, N.J., he was the son of Theresa J. Yankocy of Ocala, Florida, and the late Clarence L. Lehmer.
He was a self-employed homebuilder, Fred Lehmer Builder, for over 35 years, building custom homes locally. He was also a Supervisor for John Kintz Construction Company in Stroudsburg.
He had attended Middlecreek Christian Church in Kunkletown.
He was a member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Free Masonry in Lincoln Park, N.J., and a 32 degree mason in the Jephthah Lodge #233 F.&A.M. in Rockaway, N.J.
He is survived by his long time companion, Karen Aldred. He is also survived by four sons , Frederick J. Lehmer of Wharton, N.J., William C. Lehmer of Rockaway, N.J., Terrence E. Aldred of Reading, and Thomas J. Aldred of Dallas, Texas ; two sisters , Joan C. Getchel and Carole M. Owen, both of Ocala, Fla.; two granddaughters, Erica Marie Lehmer of Rockaway, N.J., and Julia Anne Lehmer of Wharton, N.J.; and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, March 13, at Middlecreek Christian Church in Kunkletown with the Rev. Frank Robatin officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.

Julie Michel, 72, of East Stroudsburg, died Monday, March 8, in the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg.
Born on August 5, 1926, in Jermyn, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Tessie (Chidela) Keklak of Austria and have lived in the area for the past 50 years. She was a good mother of three children; co-founder of the Beaver House Restaurant in Stroudsburg; the first wife to Joseph J. Michel; an honors graduate of East Stroudsburg University and a student of Eckankar. As a member of Eckankar, Julie gave spiritual service to those in need through missionary work while traveling throughout the world earlier in her life. Her work and time was voluntary to this organization and it was her devotion to Eckankar, Religion of the Light and Sound of God, that was so greatly appreciated by those who worked with her.
She is survived by her son, Richard; two daughters , Darlene and Marilyn, all of Stroudsburg; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be a viewing on Thursday, March 11, from 6 to 7 p.m. followed by services at 7 p.m. at the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main Street, Stroudsburg. Private interment will be in the Laurelwood Cemetery, Stroudsburg.

Ida Michaels, 95, of East Stroudsburg, died on Saturday, February 20, at home. She was the wife of Arthur L. Michaels, at home.
She was born in Dingmans Ferry, a daughter of the late David and Lottie (VanAuken) Cron. She had been a resident of both Monroe and Pike counties for all of her lifetime.
She was employed by the East Stroudsburg School District for 16 years as a bus driver. After that, she worked at Winnona Falls as cashier for several years.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Marsha Pensak of Portland; a son, Robert Ivan Michaels of Casagrande, Ariz.; a sister, Gertrude Blunt of Blairstown, N.J.; 11 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and many great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Ernest Arthur Michaels.
Private funeral services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no viewing.
Memorial donations may be made to the Bushkill Ambulance Corps, Bushkill, or to the Lehigh Valley Hospice in lieu of flowers.

Madalyn M. Schafer, 76, of Stroudsburg, died on Wednesday, March 10, at Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg. She was the wife of the late Landis F. Schafer, who died February 28, 1994.
She was born in Pocono Summit, a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Rodgers) Patruno. She had been a lifetime resident of Monroe County. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Tannersville.
Prior to her retirement in 1988, she was employed at the Olympic Reconditioning Company, All American Division in East Stroudsburg for 31 years.
She is survived by a sister, Marie Rodgers of Reeders; many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers , Peter P. Patruno and Joseph C. Patruno.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 20, at 11:30 a.m. in the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, 27 Washington Street, East Stroudsburg, with the Reverend Thomas Richards officiating.
Interment will be in the Tannersville Union Cemetery, Pocono Township. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of the services at the funeral home.

Cecil G. Heller, 74, of Mt. Pocono, died Wednesday in Maple Run Manor, Saylorsburg. He was the husband of the late Christine E. (Halstead) Heller who died in 1997.
Born on January 18, 1925 in Long Pond, he was the son of the late Edward and Grace (Deubler) Heller and had lived in the area all of his life. He had worked as a mechanic for Mikel's Motors in Stroudsburg for over 25 years, retiring in 1987.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Thomas P. Lambert Post #2540 Veterans of Foreign Wars, Stroudsburg; the Wilson-Fischer Post 413 American Legion, Pocono Pines; and the United Auto Workers Union.
He is survived by two sons , Gordon C. Heller of Stroudsburg and Bruce E. Heller of Maryland; three grandchildren; a sister, Edna Reisenwitz of Mountainhome; a brother, Wilson Heller of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Richard D. Heller and a brother, Woodrow Heller.
Graveside services and burial will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. in St. Paul's Cemetery, Swiftwater, with Captain Mark S. Mackneer of the Salvation Army, East Stroudsburg, officiating.
