Barbara V. Sparrow, 84, of RD 1, Saylorsburg, and formerly of Wind Gap, died Thursday in the Brookmont Health Care Center, Effort.
She was the wife of the late Joseph Sparrow Jr.
Born in Kreidersville, she was a daughter of the late John and Anna (Hafner) Thomas.
She had been a seamstress in various area garment mills for over 20 years, retiring in 1973.
She was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Wind Gap.
She is survived by a son, Joe Sparrow of RD 1, Saylorsburg; a daughter, Margaret Hiemer of Daytona Beach, Fla.; two brothers , Norman Thomas of Allentown and Warren Thomas of Saylorsburg; a sister, Mabel Beck of Hawley; three grandchildren; two step grandchildren; five great grandchildren; eight step great grandchildren; and three great great step grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday from the Kresge Funeral Home, Route 209, Brodheadsville, with the Rev. Nicholas Albanese officiating. Burial will be in Plainfield Cemetery, Wind Gap. A viewing will be held on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either the Lehigh Valley Hospice, 1273 N. Ninth Street, Stroudsburg, PA 18360, or to St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Lehigh Avenue and Alpha Road, Wind Gap, PA 18091.

George Rasmussen, 37, of East Stroudsburg, died on Feb. 25, at his home.
He is survived by his parents Jorgen and Eileen Rasmussen of Mocksville, N.C.; five brothers : James Rasmussen of Georgia; Edward Rasmussen of New Tripoli; Ronald Rasmussen of East Stroudsburg; Kurt Rasmussen of Wind Gap; and Eric Rasmussen of Effort; a sister, Diane Rasmussen of Clemmons, N.C.; and many nieces and nephews.
Cremation took place at the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home in East Stroudsburg.
Burial is planned in North Carolina by his parents.
He will be remembered fondly and in our thoughts and prayers.

Frank J. Coman Sr., 82, of East Stroudsburg, died on Friday, March 5, in the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg. He was the husband of Dorothy S. Coman, at home.
His first wife Charlotte (Dinsmore) Coman died in 1965.
Born in Passaic County, New Jersey, he was the son of the late Frank and Elsie (Schuman) Coman. He was a resident of the East Stroudsburg area for the past 13 years and prior to that, he lived in the Pequannock, N.J. area.
He was employed as a mechanic in the Maintenance Dept. of the Pequannock Township Public Works for 30 years, retiring in 1979.
He was a member of the First Reformed Church of Pequannock, N.J. and was an avid race car driver, having raced Nascars in both the New Jersey and Pennsylvania area for many years. He was also a member of the American Three Quarter Midget Association and the NASCAR Racing Association.
In addition to his wife, Dorothy, he is survived by four sons , Frank Coman Jr. of West Milford, N.J., Charles Coman of Stroudsburg, Timothy Gallagher of Sebring, Fla., and James Gallagher of Pompton Plains, N.J.; five daughters , Roberta Weaver of Mount Bethel, Emma Staples of Long Pond, Debra Micheletti of East Stroudsburg, Linda Gallagher of Easton, and Donna Heightman of Stroudsburg; one brother, Robert Coman Sr. of Roanoke, Va.; three sisters , Charlotte Gilmore of Lake Orion, Mich., Christine Mogged, Boulder City, Nev., and Grace Decker of Hurleyville, N.Y.; 20 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son, Gerald Coman; two brothers , Andrew Coman and Albert Coman; and one sister, Margaret Levanduski.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 10 at the Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home, 23 North Ninth St., Stroudsburg. Burial will be in the Laurel Grove Cemetery, Totowa, N.J.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 9, at the funeral home.

Leah Nixon Dietrich, 96, formerly of North Sixth Street, Bangor, died Friday
morning, March 5, in Slate Belt Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Washington Township, where she was a guest for one year.
Her first husband, Stanley C. Miller died in 1946. Her second husband, Rowland O. Dietrich died in 1978.
Born December 31, 1902 in Slateford, she was a daughter of the late George and Jennie Nixon.
She was employed as a Cutter by the former Sterling Silk Mill, Bangor, until her retirement. She was of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting.
She is survived by two step- daughters , Shirley D. Handelong of East Bangor and Patricia Ann Snoddy of Bangor; one niece; and one nephew. She was preceded in death by her brother, James Nixon and three sisters , Lois Correll, Edna Cook and Cora Nixon.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 8, at The Hough Home for Funerals, Inc., 207 Market St., Bangor. Private interment will be in St. John's Cemetery, Bangor.
Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, at the funeral home.

Frank Becker, 86, of East Side Boro, White Haven, died Saturday at his home.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, he lived most of his life in the White Haven area. He was the son of the late Charles and Charlotte (Zimmer) Becker. He was a member of St. Patrick's Church, White Haven. For many years he was a crane operator for the Easton Corp.
He was preceded in death by a brother Charles and two sisters , Wilhelmina Avilla and Charlotte Ackerman.
He is survived by his wife, the former Vera Anthony. They would have celebrated 61 years of marriage on April 20. He is also survived by a son, Francis Becker of Mountainhome; one step sister, Nancy Andres of White Haven; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday from the Joseph E. Lehman Funeral Home, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church, White Haven. Interment will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, White Haven. The Rev. Stephen Stavoy, pastor, will officiate.

Cornelis F. Dirkse

Cornelis F. Dirkse, 86, of Dingmans Ferry, died Sunday, March 7, at Mercy Community Hospital, Port Jervis, N.Y.
He was a retired road maintenance worker and plow truck operator for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and had also been a barge master on the Rhein River in Germany.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Dingmans Ferry. He was a member of the Tri-State German American Club and before his illness was a driver for the Delaware Township Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
Mr. Dirkse was born in Rotterdam, Netherlands, on Jan. 4, 1913, to Maria Ludwig and Geritja (Norland) Dirkse. He was married to Elfirede (Horsch) Dirkse on Nov. 10, 1945.
Survivors include his wife; one son and daughter-in-law, Ludwig and Peggy Dirkse of Lebanon, N.H.; two daughters and their husbands, Erika and Randy Wirkki of Howell, N.J., and Diana and Robert Spiegler of Ramona, Calif.; one sister, Anne Versluis of the Netherlands; eight grandchildren, Michael and his wife Hollie; Christine and her husband Jon, Karin, Kathleen, Stacey, Cory, Stephanie and Kasie.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. today March 8 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 16 Delaware Crest Preserve, Dingmans Ferry with the Rev. Niels Nielsen Officiating.
Interment will take place in Milford Cemetery, Dingman Township, at the convenience of the family.

John H. Kleintop Sr., 79 years, 4 months and 20 days, of 135 Sixth St., Apt. B9, Lehighton, died Saturday, March 6, in the Palmerton Hospital. He was the husband of Lillian Decker. They celebrated their first wedding anniversary in December.
Born in Palmerton, he was the son of the late Charles and Eva (Roth) Kleintop.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he served in the 610th Tank Battalion.
He was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, where he served on church council. He was instrumental in the formation of Boy Scout Troop/Cub Scout Pack 209. He retired from the former New Jersey Zinc Co., Palmerton, in 1979, after 46 years of service, during which time he rose to the position of supervisor.
He was a life member of the following: Franklin Township Fire Co.; Trachsville Fire Co.; Kunkletown Volunteer Fire Co.; Palmerton American Legion; Palmerton Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7134; Little Gap Grange; and Palmerton Rod & Gun Club. He was a member of the Kunkletown Senior Citizens Club and vice president of Chestnut Ridge Senior Citizens Club.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons , Ronald Frable of Palmerton and John Kleintop Jr. of Lehighton; two daughters , Ruth Ann, wife of Bryan Kistler, of Ledyard, Conn., and Kathryn Summers of Endicott, N.Y.; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters , Margaret Rannazzisi of New York, N.Y.; and Lillian Metzner of Ellsworth, Maine.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Fannie (Kost) Kleintop, and his second wife, Marion A. (Strohl) Kleintop.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 11, at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Fifth and Lafayette Avenue, Palmerton. Interment will be in Trachsville Cemetery immediately following the service. Call Thursday at 10 a.m., one hour prior to the service.

Lillian P. Myszkowski, age 77, of Polk Township, Kunkletown, died Monday, March 8, at her home. She was the wife of the late Melvin Myszkowski who died in 1973.
Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late John P. and Elizabeth Goddard.
She was of the Catholic faith and had attended Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Gilbert.
She is survived by a son, Melvin and his wife Donna Myszkowski of Polk Township, Kunkletown; two daughters , Carol, wife of George Alaimo of Pittston, and Linda, wife of David Brown of Canadensis; 11 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 10 at the Donald N. Gower Funeral Home Inc. Route 209, Gilbert.
A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Gilbert with the Rev. Father William McCawley celebrant. Interment will be in the Laurelwood Cemetery in Stroudsburg.
Viewing will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, March 9, at the funeral home.
