Mary E. Williams, 89, of Stroudsburg, died Friday, Feb. 12, in the Stroud Manor Nursing Home in East Stroudsburg. She was the wife of Ray E. Williams, who died in 1976.
Born in Bethlehem, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Clair (Major) Silver. She was a graduate of the Moose Heart in Illinois and lived in the Stroudsburg area for the past 50 years. Prior to that she resided in the Bethlehem area.
She was a member of St. Luke's Roman Catholic Church of Stroudsburg.
She is survived by two nephews, Raymond Silver of Scottsdale, Ariz., and John Silver of Kunkletown; and three nieces, Joan Probst and her daughter, Diane Silver, both of Stroudsburg, Teddi Silver of Kennett Square and Helen Marie Broadfoot of Lake Stevens, Wash.
She was preceded in death by four brothers , Franks, John, Joseph and Raymond Silver, and her infant daughter, Judith Ann Williams.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17, from the Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home with the Rev. Carmen Perry officiating. Interment will follow in the Laurelwood Cemetery.

Faytima (Bump) Baillis

Faytima "Fay" (Bump) Baillis, 86, of East Stroudsburg, died Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999.
She was born in Red Springs, Wisconsin. She lived in Passaic, N.J., for 35 years before moving to East Stroudsburg ten years ago.
She was a floor lady for the Grant Company in Passaic, N.J., for 30 years.
She was a member of Knights of Columbus; Regina Mundi Council #3969; and Columbiettes, all of Clifton, N.J.
She is predeceased by her son Louis.
She is survived by two grandsons, Wayne of East Stroudsburg and Gregory of Clifton, N.J. and one great-granddaughter, Michele.

Richard W. Uffleman
February 14, 1999
Richard W. Uffleman, 75, of Bushkill, formerly of McDonald, died on Sunday, Feb. 14, at home. He was the husband of Audrey J. (Stastny) Uffleman at home. They had been married for 25 years.
He was born in Oakdale, a son of the late Henry and Myrtle (Greenfield) Uffelman. He had been a resident of Pike County for the past 20 years and prior to that of River Edge, N.J.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed by the Fernwood Resort in charge of the heating and air conditioning for many years. Prior to that, he owned and operated R.W. Uffleman Plumbing and Air Conditioning in River Edge for seven years. Prior to that, he was a chief engineer for The Moore-McCormick Lines. He was a member of the Merchant Marines during World War II, Korea and Vietnam.
He was a graduate of Kings Point Maritime School. Prior to that, he was employed by Universal Cyclops Steel in Bridgeville. He was a member of the William Buck Lodge 239 Free and Accepted Masons in New Jersey.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters , Mary Margaret Saks of White house Station, N.J., and Dr. Andrea Jane Bartolussi of Brookdale, N.Y.; a son, Wayne R. Uffleman of Rivervale, N.J.; three step daughters , Lisa Beers of Stroudsburg, Kim Brunton of Ramsey, N.J., and Nadine Nix of River Edge, N.J.; two brothers , Thomas Uffelman of Decatur, Ga., and Loyd Uffelman of Jacksonville, Fla.; a sister, Mary Margaret Aldridge of Greer, S.C.; seven grandchildren, six step grandchildren; several aunts, nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held on Sat. Feb 27, 2 p.m., at St. John Catholic Church, Milford Road, East Stroudsburg. There will be no viewing. His remains will be transferred to Humanity Gifts Registry in Philadelphia.

Maria Ann Petrizzo

Maria Ann (Mary) Petrizzo , 75, of East Stroudsburg, died Monday, Feb. 15, at home. She was the wife of John Petrizzo. The couple celebrated 52 years of marriage last September.
She was born in New York City, N.Y., daughter of the late Marion "Mike" and Leapauldine (Skalka) Sirola. She had been a resident of Monroe County for the past 53 years.
She was the owner and operator of Petrizzo's Italian Restaurant, of Bushkill, for 53 years; with her mother and Father Mike and Pauline Sirola from 1946 - 1962 and with her husband and son, John and John Jr. Petrizzo, from 1962 - present. She was a member of the Women's Auxiliary of the Italian American Club, of Stroudsburg.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, John F. Petrizzo, Jr., of East Stroudsburg; two brothers , Bill Sirola and Paul Sirola, both of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; a grandson, Michael Petrizzo, East Stroudsburg; a niece and two nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, at 11 a.m., in St. Matthew's Catholic Church, East Stroudsburg.
Entombment will be in the Mountainview Mausoleum, in Prospect Cemetery, East Stroudsburg. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday, 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 8:30 p.m., and on Thursday., 10 to 10:45 a.m., at Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, 27 Washington St., East Stroudsburg.

George Heller

George Heller, 74, of Saylorsburg, died Sunday, February 14, in Atlantic General Hospital, Berlin, Md.
He was the husband of Marguerite Haring Heller. They celebrated their 49 anniversary this past January.
He was born in Phillipsburg, N.J., to the late George and Amelia Johns Heller. He graduated from Phillipsburg High School, in 1944.
Prior to his retirement, in 1986, he was a pressman for Mack Printing Co., in Easton, for 43 years. He and his wife owned a farm in Bloomsbury, N.J., from 1968 through 1988.
He was a member of the Auxiliary of Blue Ridge Hook & Ladder Co. and the Monroe County Environmental Center.
He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Maurice Heller, of Nazareth; a sister, Dorothy Pisle, Morgantown, W. Va.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by a sister, Ruth Masciotti.
Friends can pay their respects on Wednesday, Feb. 17, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., at Ashton Funeral Home, 14th and Northampton Sts, Easton. There will be a funeral service, Thursday, Feb. 18, at 10:30 a.m., at the funeral home. The interment will be at Straw Church Cemetery, Pohatcong Township, N.J.

James M. Kerrigan

James M. Kerrigan, 63, of East Stroudsburg, died Sunday, Feb. 14, in Milford Manor, Smithfield Township.
Born in New York City, N.Y., he was the son of the late Patrick and Margaret (Duffy) Kerrigan.
He was employed as the Bar Manager for the Windlass Restaurant, in Lake Hopatcong, N.J., for 20 years, before retiring in 1996. Prior to that, he was employed as a bartender for 20 years in New York City and New Jersey.
He was a past president of the Pocono Irish American Club and past vice-president of the Ancient Order of Hibernians of Monroe County. He was also a past member of the Elks Club, of East Stroudsburg and the Knights of Columbus, in New York City.
He was survived by a son James Kerrigan, of New Jersey; two daughters , Catherine Kerrigan, of Florida and Peggy Ann Kerrigan, of New Jersey; and a step-son John Rich, of Delaware Water Gap.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, Feb. 18, at 10 a.m., in St. Matthew's Catholic Church, East Stroudsburg.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday, Feb. 17, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., in the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, 27 Washington St., East Stroudsburg. There will be a prayer service at the funeral home, Wednesday, 7:45 p.m., followed by a service by the Ancient Order of Hibernians, at 8:15 p.m.

Gaetano "Tom" Tuorto, 77, of East Stroudsburg, died on Sunday, February 14, at home. He was the husband of Mary (Sylvia) Tuorto, at home. They had celebrated 52 years of marriage.
He was born in Newark, N.J., a son of the late Pasquale and Maria (Brucco) Tuorto. He had been a resident of Monroe County for the past 15 years and prior to that of Wayne, N.J. He was a member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church in East Stroudsburg.
Prior to his retirement in 1984, he was employed as an explosive technician by the Piccatany Arsenal in Dover, N.J., for 30 years. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps having served during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion in Wayne, N.J.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters , Marcia Iannia of East Stroudsburg and Renee Nielsen of Pompton Lakes, N.J.; four sons : Patrick Tuorto of Bloomsburg; Steven Tuorto of Middletown, N.Y.; Thomas Tuorto and Eugene Tuorto, both of East Stroudsburg; a brother, Henry Tuorto of Bloomfield, N.J.; nine grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 19, at 10 a.m. in St. Matthew's Catholic Church with Father Thomas Sokolowski as the celebrant.
Interment will be in the Stroudsburg Cemetery, Stroudsburg. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Thursday from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, 27 Washington Street, East Stroudsburg. There will be a Prayer Service at 8 p.m. on Thursday evening.

William Piez

William Piez, 75, of Stroudsburg, died Tuesday at home. He was the husband of the late Virginia (Stackhouse) Piez and had lived in the area for the past twenty-six years.
Born on December 14, 1923, in Flanders, N.J., he was the owner/ operator of the Pocono Pub in Mt. Pocono; the owner/operator of the Portland Trailer Park and the owner/operator of the Mt. Bethel Inn; and had been a union painter for District Council #10 in Bloomfield, N.J.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy. He enjoyed golf, fishing and sports and was an avid N.Y. Jets fan.
He is survived by two sons , Roy Donnell Piez of Succasunna, N.J., and William Russell Piez of Bloomsburg; a daughter, Carol Fernandez of Jacksonville, Fla.; six grandchildren, George Fernandez, Dana Fernandez, Clayton Piez, Jennifer Piez, Richard Piez, and Chris Piez; a brother, Ray Piez of Comming, Ga.; a sister, Stella Piez of Flanders, N.J.; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m. in the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main Street, Stroudsburg with Rev. Thomas E. Richards Jr. officiating. Cremation will be in the H. G. Smith Crematory, Stroudsburg.

Charles V. Greene
February 15, 1999
Charles V. Greene, 89, Stroudsburg, died on Monday at Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ellen (Yencsik) Greene, at home.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Peter and Anna (Longo) Greene. He was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church in Succasunna, N.J.
He was a 1932 graduate of Williamsport High School and a 1936 graduate of St. Thomas College, which is now the University of Scranton. He was a mathematics teacher in Roxbury Twp., N.J., School District from 1947 until his retirement in 1965.
During World War II, he worked for the U.S. Army at Fort Indiantown Gap and later for Kaiser Ship Works in San Francisco.
He was a member of the Roxbury Twp., N.J., Senior Citizen Club.
He was a member of the Citizens Committee for the Morris County Park Commission and promoted the passing of bond issues for the construction of Flanders Valley Golf Course and later the Sunset Valley Golf Course and Mennen Arena.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Richard Greene of Stroudsburg; two grandchildren, Peter Greene and Kristen Greene, both at home; three sisters , Frances Himmel of Queens, N.Y., Lucille Schreiber of Scranton, and Grace Alco of Archbald; and several nieces and nephews.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Memorial donations should be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
