Robert Mitchell Findlay, 89, late of Dingmans Ferry, died on Friday, February 5 at Stroud Manor Nursing Home, East Stroudsburg. He was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd and St. John the Evangelist Episcopal Church of Milford. He was a retired custodian for the Milford Elementary School and a self-employed farmer.
Mr. Findlay was born in Milford on May 24, 1909 to Robert Watson and Pauline Winifred (Bournique) Findlay. He was married to Frances (Downs) Findlay.
Survivors include his wife at home, one son, Donald Downs Findlay of Succasunna, NJ; two daughters , Nancy Lou O'Brien and Roberta Ann Cron, both of Dingman's Ferry; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, February 13 at 11:30 a.m. at the Dingman's Ferry United Methodist Church, Myck Road, Dingman's Ferry. Rev. Gwendolyn L. Smith will officiate.
Mr. Findlay's family will receive friends at the church from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 13.
Interment will take place in Delaware Cemetery, Dingman's Ferry at the convenience of the family.

Charles T. LaBar, 90, of Middle Smithfield Township, died on Wednesday, Feb. 3, in Laurel Manor, Stroudsburg. He was the husband of Grace (Gunsaules) LaBar. The couple celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary on Dec. 24, 1998.
Born in Price Township, he was a son of the late Albert O. and Louisa (Yaggie) LaBar. He was a lifelong resident of Monroe County.
He was employed as a contracting supervisor for Charlie Franks Construction in Stroudsburg for more than 20 years. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy and chief petty officer in the Seabees.
He was a member of J. Simpson Africa Lodge 628 in Stroudsburg; George N. Kemp American Legion Post 346 in East Stroudsburg; Monroe County Chapter of Woodmen of the World; and East Stroudsburg United Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sisters , Betty Martin and Marjorie Caprioli, both of Cresco; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, Feb. 8, at 1:30 p.m. in the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dr. Edward Kimes officiating.
There will be a viewing on Monday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service in Lanterman & Allen.
Committal will take place in Laurelwood Cemetery, Stroudsburg.

Claiborne J. Clements

Claiborne J. Clements, 56, of East Stroudsburg, died Sunday, Feb. 7, in Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg. He was the husband of Patricia A. (Hill) Clements at home.
Born in Norfolk, Va., he was the son of the late William and Louise (Green) Clements. He was a resident of East Stroudsburg for the past six years and prior to that lived in the Coney Island, N.Y., area.
He was employed as a police officer with the New York City Housing Police for 15 years, being disabled in 1984. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and was of the Catholic faith.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons , Craig Clements of Hollis, N.Y., Teague Clements of Cambria Heights, N.Y., and Jamal Clements of East Stroudsburg; a daughter, J'nelle Clements of East Stroudsburg; a brother, Theophilus Clements of Jamaica, N.Y.; two sisters , Goldie Joseph-Pauline and Delphine Ebere, both of Brooklyn, N.Y.; several nieces and nephews, great nephews and many cousins and other relatives.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 12, from St. Gabriel's Roman Catholic Church, Linwood Street, Brooklyn, N.Y. Interment will be in the Stroudsburg Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, in the Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home.

Donald W. Goldy

Donald W. Goldy, 86, of Stroudsburg, died Saturday evening in Laurel Manor, Stroudsburg. He was the husband of the late Margaret M. (Leech) Goldy, who died in 1985.
Born on July 7, 1912, in Williamsport, he was the son of the late Fred M. and Cora E. (Blaker) Goldy and had lived in the area since 1940, moving here from Williamsport. He retired in 1975 from Patterson-Kelley in East Stroudsburg.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps and was a life member of the Thomas P. Lambert Post 2540 Veterans of Foreign Wars in East Stroudsburg.
He is survived by a brother, Frederick Goldy of Montoursville; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Goldy of East Stroudsburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. in the William H. Clark Funeral Home, with the Rev. Raymond Poortstra officiating. Burial will follow at 12:30 p.m. in the Muncy Cemetery, Muncy.

John Charles Smith, 91, formerly of Stroudsburg, died Sunday in St. Joseph Medical Center, Albuquerque, N.M. He was the husband of the late Mary (Stuart) Smith who died in 1989.
Born on Aug. 5, 1907, in Phillipsburg, N.J., he was the son of the late John Aaron and C. Elizabeth Smith and had lived in the Stroudsburg area from 1937 to 1995, when he moved to New Mexico to be with his son. He had worked as a typesetter for 35 years for Hughes Printing, East Stroudsburg, retiring in 1971.
A graduate of Phillipsburg High School, he was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Stroudsburg, where he served as a Sunday school superintendent, deacon and trustee. He was a member of the New York Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by a son, Carl S. Smith of Albuquerque, N.M.; a daughter, Margaret Ann Taylor of Brooklyn, N.Y.; two grandchildren; four step grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Henry Smith.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. in the William H. Clark Funeral Home, with the Rev. Carol S. Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Laurelwood Cemetery, Stroudsburg.
There will be a viewing on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

Robert A. Kirkham, 62, of Effort died Sunday, Feb. 7, 1999 at the Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg.
He was the husband of Joyce (Jackson) Kirkham. they had been married 39 ½ years.
Born in Amityville, N.Y., he was the son of the late Percy and Angus (Langone) Kirkham.
He had been a bus driver for Long Island Bus Company in Uniondale, Long Island for 27 years. He was a member of the Transport Workers Union local 252 of Garden City, N.Y.
He had served in the United States Air Force.
He was of the Catholic Faith.
In addition to his wife Joyce, he is survived by a son: Ron Kirkham of Effort.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wed. Feb. 10, 1999 at the Donald N. Gower Funeral Home, Inc., Route 209, Gilbert with the MSGR. John A. Auchter officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. Viewing will be held Tues. Feb. 9, 1999 from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Emma L. Saunders, 84, of Mount Olive, N.J., died Thursday, Feb. 4, at Merry Heart Nursing Home in Roxbury Township after a short illness. She was the wife of the late William F. Saunders.
Born Nov. 6, 1914 in Swan Valley, Idaho, she lived in Budd Lake since 1941. She was the daughter of the late Adolph and Louise (Monte) Schultz.
She was a member of the Drakestown Methodist Church in Hackettstown since 1941 and a member and past president of the United Methodist Women in the church for more than 50 years. She was also a member of the Mount Olive Senior Citizen's Club.
She is survived by a son, James A. Saunders of Bartonsville; two daughters , Alice L. Davis of Hackettstown, N.J., and Elsie R. Vickers of DeRidder, La.; one sister, Elsie Wood of Reno, Nev., 10 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be Monday, Feb. 8 at 10 a.m. at the Drakestown Methodist Church, Church Road, Hackettstown.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Drakestown United Methodist Church.

Joseph T. Christman Sr., age 87, of Stroudsburg, died Saturday, February 6, at home. He was the husband of the late Eva Wahlmark Christman.
He was born in Philadelphia, a son of the late Wallace C. and Margaret (Doll) Christman. He had been a resident of Monroe County for most of his lifetime, and worked for International Boiler Works in East Stroudsburg for over forty years as a boiler maker, where he was a member of the Boilermaker's Union.
He is survived by four daughters : Gloria Ludwig of Henryville; Christine Stout of East Stroudsburg; and Janette Szapacs and Darlene St. Clair, both of Stroudsburg; three sons : Joseph T. Christman Jr. of East Stroudsburg; Brian Christman of R.D. 6, Stroudsburg; and Steven Christman of Stroudsburg; two sisters , Mary Angelmeyer and Dorothy Kemmer, both of Stroudsburg; twelve grandchildren; eight grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 11, at 1:30 p.m. in the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, 27 Washington Street, East Stroudsburg, with the Rev. Raymond Poortstra officiating.
Interment will be in the Prospect Cemetery, East Stroudsburg. Friends and relatives may pay their respects on Thursday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the services at the funeral home.

Harold A. Bentzoni, 66, of Stroudsburg, died Friday, February 5, 1999, in Naples Community Hospital, Naples, Fla. He was the husband of Laureen F. (Flagler) Bentzoni to whom he had been married for forty years.
Born on April 6, 1932, in Stroudsburg, he was the son of Hilda M. (Sandt) Bentzoni of Stroudsburg and the late Alva O. Bentzoni and had lived in the area all of his life. He had worked in electronics as a draftsman for Western Electric, now Lucent, for thirty years retiring in 1994.
He served in the U.S. Navy in the Construction Battalion (CBs) in Cuba and also was active in the SAC (Strategic Air Command). A 1951 graduate of Stroudsburg High School, where he was co-captain of the football team.
He was a member of the Stroudsburg United Methodist Church; the Phoenix Fire Company #2; Stroudsburg Fire Department; the Varsity "S" Club of Stroudsburg, where he helped coordinate the youth football program, later the 7th and 8th grade football program acting as a coach and then as commissioner.
He served 16 years on the Stroudsburg Borough Council serving as President and currently as Vice President. He was a member of the Monroe County Control Center Board; the Pocono Mountains Council of Government (COG); the Twin Boro Recycling Board; the Stroudsburg Police Commission; President of MECAB, Mid Eastern County Association of Boroughs, serving the five counties; the Cap and Gown of the PA State Association of Boroughs; and the Pocono Mountain Jaycees, where he earned the honor of becoming a Jaycee International Senator. He was also a member of the B.P.O. Elks #319, East Stroudsburg; the Loyal Order of Moose #1336, East Stroudsburg; the Fraternal Order of Eagles #1106, Stroudsburg; the George N. Kemp Post #346, American Legion, East Stroudsburg; and the H. W. Haas, Jr. Post #58, Society of the 28th Division.
He loved the outside and was an avid gardener and was a NASCAR and Football enthusiast.
In addition to his wife and mother , he is survived by two sons , Harold A. "BJ" Bentzoni Jr., husband of Wendy (Brink) Bentzoni of Saylorsburg, and Kyle Flagler Bentzoni, husband of Kelly (Bahling) Bentzoni of Stroud Township; two granddaughters, Shelby and Elena Bentzoni; one grandson, Andrew Bentzoni; two brothers , Robert Bentzoni of East Stroudsburg and Donald Bentzoni of Daytona, Fla.; a sister, Beatrice Lucrezi of Stroud Township; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 8 p.m. in the Stroudsburg United Methodist Church, 547 Main Street, with the Rev. George S. Rigby Jr. officiating. Stroudsburg Fire Company will meet at 5:30 p.m. at the church. Private burial will be in the Stroudsburg Cemetery.
There will be a viewing on Friday from 6 p.m. until the time of service at the church.
