Pennsylvania Obituary and Marriage Records, 1947-2010

MARY T. DeNUNZIO

Mary T. DeNunzio, 90, of Jeannette, died Tuesday, March 28, 2000, in the Jeannette District Memorial Hospital. She was born Aug. 5, 1909, in Armbrust, a daughter of the late Angelo and Maria Zappone Fontana. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by the former Jeannette Glass Co., and was a member of the Sacred Heart Church of Jeannette. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Anthony M. DeNunzio, in 1978; three sisters , Carmella Sanders, Rose Russo and Frances Hovaniec; and four brothers , John and Domenick Fontana and Ernest and Angelo Verdone. She is survived by a daughter, Antoinette Lancashire and her husband, James, and a son, Anthony M. DeNunzio Sr., all of Jeannette; two sisters , Mary Fontana and husband, James, of North Huntingdon and Angeline Stuart of Cleveland, Ohio; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the JOHN V. GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME INC., 228 N. Second St., Jeannette, beginning Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Church. Entombment will follow in the Twin Valley Memorial Park Mausoleum, Delmont.

LOUELLA P. LAUFFER JOHNS

Louella P. Lauffer Johns, 83, of Monroeville, died Monday, March 27, 2000, in ManorCare Nursing Facility, Monroeville. She was born July 4, 1916, in Harrison City, a daughter of the late Harrison Clay and Lula Frye Lauffer. She was a member of the Pitcairn Assembly of God Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Johns; and three brothers , Norman, Lucien and Harry Lauffer. She is survived by a brother, Woodrow "Woody" Lauffer of North Huntingdon; a sister, Dorothy Campbell of West Mifflin; and nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the WILLIAM SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, 521 Main Street, Irwin, Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Peter A. Conforti officiating. Interment will follow in Brush Creek Cemetery, Hempfield Township.

LESLIE DONALD LEAPHART

Leslie Donald Leaphart, of Pittsburgh, quietly on Sunday, March 26, 2000. Beloved son of Clarence I. and Beulah P. Leaphart. Father of Dominick L. Hawkins of Reston, Va. Brother of Clarence I. Leaphart Jr. of New York, N.Y., Clara Lynn Leaphart of Pittsburgh and Lillian F. Lucas of Lewisville, N.C. Friends may call Thursday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at WHITE MEMORIAL CHAPEL OF POINT BREEZE, 7204 Thomas Blvd. at North Homewood Avenue. Funeral ceremony Friday 11 a.m. at Bethany Baptist Church, 7734 Tioga St., Homewood. Interment Allegheny Cemetery.

ONORINA (PEDUZZI) LIVERATTI

Onorina (Peduzzi) Liveratti, 94, of Wilmerding, died Monday, March 27, 2000. Wife of the late Peter Liveratti. Beloved mother of Pietro J. (Velma) Liveratti, Angelina (Gene) Bruce and Sylvia (Norman) Zibrat. Dear grandmother of John (Mary) Liveratti, Sandra (Gerald) Krzysiak, Richard (Lisa) Bruce, Scott (Sue) Zibrat, Janet (Keith) Gmiter, Nancy (Mark) Paull and Laura Zibrat. aunt of Theresa Liveratti (David) Hickman. Also nine great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Friends received at the ALFIERI FUNERAL HOME INC., 201 Marguerite Ave., Wilmerding, Wednesday from noon to 9 p.m. Mass in St. Jude the Apostle Church Thursday at 10 a.m.

DIANE PIERCE

Diane Pierce, 46, of Irwin, died Tuesday, March 28, 2000, in Mercy Hospital of Pittsburgh. She was born Feb. 24, 1954, in Bloomington, Ill., a daughter of Ruth (Farone) Fennekohl of Houston, Texas . In addition to her mother , she is survived by two sons , Seon Pierce of Monroeville and Joshua Pierce of Irwin; three daughters , Danielle (Pierce) Terrell of New York, and Shannon Pierce and Chelsea Pierce, both of Irwin; a brother, James Hannah of Houston, Texas ; a sister, Patty Johnston of St. Thomas, V.I.; and three grandchildren, Bryce Pierce, Kayla Barberena Pierce and Randy Terrell. Friends will be received at the VINCENT V. RODGERS FUNERAL HOME, 805 Pennsylvania Ave., Irwin, Thursday from 6 p.m. until the time of service at 7:30 p.m. with the Rev. Bruce Maxwell officiating.

KARYN ELISE RIAL

Karyn Elise Rial, 34, of Erie, died Saturday, March 25, 2000. Born in Morgantown, W.Va., Feb. 28, 1966, the daughter of the Rev. Joseph C. Jr. and Kathryn F. Rial. They survive. A graduate of Ringgold High School, Monongahela, in 1985, and a graduate of Otterbein College, Westerville, Ohio, in 1989, where she was a member of Epsilon Kappa Tau. She was a Rotary exchange student to Ecuador. After graduation, she lived in Arlington, Va., and worked in Washington , D.C., for two lobbyist organizations, Employer's Council on Flexible Compensation and United Fruit and Vegetable. While in Arlington, she was an active member of the Arlington Methodist Church. Relocating to Erie, she had been employed by the American Lung Association and for the past two years had been employed by the American Heart Association in development. She was a member of the Linesville United Methodist Church, Linesville, where her Father is pastor. She was vice president of Youth Council of the Western PA Conference of United Methodist Church and was president of the North East Jurisdictional Conference. She was a delegate to the Annual Conference. She was active with Big brothers and Big sisters of Erie County. Survivors include her parents of Linesville; two brothers , Hugh A. Rial of Pittsburgh and Alfred C. Rial and wife, Patti, of Erie; a niece, Margaret Anne Rial, and a nephew, Evan Hall Rial, both of Erie. She was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Alfred and Margaret Powell, formerly of Washington , D.C.; and her paternal grandparents, Joseph C. Sr. and Elsie S. Rial, formerly of Greensburg. The family will receive friends Thursday, March 30, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church, 3952 Pine Ave., Erie, where a memorial service will be held at 8:30 p.m. The family will receive friends Friday, March 31, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Linesville United Methodist Church, 326 W. Erie St., Linesville, and Saturday, April 1, from 10 to 11 a.m., at which time a memorial service will be held. The memorial services will be co-officiated by the Rev. James M. McGinnis, pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church, and the Rev. Aaron Kerr, pastor of Noblestown United Methodist Church. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 823 Filmore, Erie, PA 16505.

MARJORY LOY SCHLOSSER

Marjory Loy Schlosser, 82, of Zephyrhills, Fla., died Saturday, March 25, 2000, at the East Pasco Medical Center in Zephyrhills, Fla. She was born Dec. 4, 1917, in Williamsburg, Pa., a daughter of the late Fred H. and Ruth M. Chamberlain Estep. She was a member of New River Methodist Church in Zephyrhills and the Order of the Eastern Star. She was retired from the Zayre Corp. in Tampa, Fla. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Michael J. Schlosser, in 1967; a son-in-law, James R. Dell; and a sister-in-law, Mildred Estep. She is survived by her son, Michael W. Schlosser of Greensburg; a daughter, Ruth M. Dell of Clearwater, Fla.; two grandchildren, Deborah and her husband, William Marshall, and James M. Dell; and two great-grandchildren, Leah and Zachary Marshall, all of Clearwater, Fla.; a brother, Fred W. Estep of Tampa, Fla.; and a sister, A.L. "Peg" Hofmann of Zephyrhills, Fla. Friends will be received at the BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 516 Stanton at Green streets, Greensburg, from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Entombment services will be held Friday at Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum in Rochester, Pa. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Westmoreland County, The Shelter Fund, P.O. Box 1552, Greensburg, PA 15601.

JOSEPH R. SZAFRANSKI SR.

Joseph R. Szafranski Sr., 65, of New Kensington, died Tuesday, March 28, 2000, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born in Natrona, Nov. 6, 1934. He previously lived in Cleveland, Ohio, and Chicago, Ill., before moving to the Alle-Kiski area. He was a member of Pittsburgh East Full Gospel Church in Plum Borough where he was an usher and on the Board of Directors for the East Christian School. Also he was a member of the Promise Keepers, Association of Retired Federal Employees, AARP, and Alle-Kiski Senior Citizens. He enjoyed making stained glass, traveling, swimming and tending his rose garden. He served in the Korean War as a staff sergeant in the Air Force. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Johnine Patricia Ahlquist Szafranski; two sons , Joseph R. Szafranski Jr. of Pensacola, Fla., and Kevin G. Szafranski of Verona; a daughter, Lisa M. Omek of Pittsburgh; and nine grandchildren. Friends may call Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at RUSIEWICZ OF LOWER BURRELL FUNERAL HOME, 3124 Leechburg Road, Lower Burrell. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. in Pittsburgh East Full Gospel Church in Plum Borough with the Rev. Archie Neale officiating.

RAYMOND EARL BODEN

Raymond Earl Boden, 79, formerly of East Pittsburgh, on Monday, March 27, 2000. Born in Turtle Creek. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Philippines. He retired from Westinghouse Airbrake, East Pittsburgh, in 1982, with 42 years of service. Husband of the late Alice (Joyce) Boden. Father of Joyce and her husband, Dennis Lindenberg, of Seneca, Pa., Judith and her husband, Gene Colfer, of Greensburg, Raymond T. Boden of Somerset, Joann K. Boden of Shadyside (with whom he resided), and the late William H. Boden. Brother of Thelma Long of New Mexico. Also survived by seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters . No public visitation. Funeral service private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the McMasters United Methodist Church Food Bank, 200 Church St., Turtle Creek, PA 15145. Arrangements by the PATRICK T. SAVINA BRIGHENTI CANTONI

Savina Brighenti Cantoni, 99, of North Huntingdon, died Monday, March 27, 2000, at her home. She was born Aug. 23, 1900, in Monessen, a daughter of the late Marshall and Gentila Chinelli Brighenti. Prior to retirement, she was employed as a bookkeeper for Brighenti Trucking of Monessen. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church of Irwin, and a former member of it's Catholic daughters of America, and was a member of the Cerial Womens Club. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Americus "Merk" Cantoni, owner of Irwin-Herminie Bus Lines; her stepmother, Adalgesia Brighenti; two brothers , Angelo and Mario Brighenti; and a sister, Florence Frazier. Surviving are two nieces, Marsha Brighenti Greco of Belle Vernon and Sandy Frazier Jackson of Tuckerton, N.J. Friends will be received at the JOSEPH F. OTT FUNERAL HOME INC., Fifth and Oak streets, Irwin, Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Church. Interment will follow in the West Newton Cemetery.

WALTER W. COLDREN
Walter W. Coldren, 78, of Delmont, died Sunday, March 26, 2000, in UPMC Shadyside, Pittsburgh. He was born June 11, 1921, in Rockland Township, a son of the late Floyd E. and Gertrude Richey Baker Coldren. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Murrysville. He was a general sales manager at Beckwith Machinery in Murrysville, serving 44 years before retiring in 1981. He served his country during World War II in the South Pacific as a Marine corporal. He was awarded two Purple Hearts and the Silver Star during these conflicts. He was a member of the Delmont VFW Post 481, Syria Temple, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, F&AM of Bethesda, Ohio, a lifetime member, and the B.P.O.E., Clearfield, Pa. He was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Coldren; and a sister, Annabel Ritts. He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Mary Jane Newton Coldren; a daughter, Polly Coldren Negich and husband, John A. Negich, of Butler, and grandson, J. Brandon Negich; a son, Roger W. Coldren, Dc., of Murrysville, his wife, Robin Vrudney Coldren, grandson, R. Shawn Coldren, and two granddaughters, Kelly and Brooke Coldren; a daughter, Lorie Coldren Bollibon of Murrysville, her husband, James C. Bollibon, and three granddaughters, Leslie, Alaina and Renae Bollibon; a goddaughter, Lesley Dexter Straw of Gibsonia, her husband, James Straw, and children Erin and Riley; two sisters , Mabel Woods of Emlenton and Carolyn Wyant of Cochranton; three brothers , Clifford Coldren of Forest City, N.C., Lewis Coldren of Alex City, Ala., and Clyde Coldren of Cochranton. A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at Faith United Methodist Church, Delmont, Sunday, April 2, at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to: The World War II Memorial-Individual Contribution, American Battle Monuments Commission, P.O. Box 96766, Washington , D.C. 20090-6766. Arrangements by the JOHN T. HART FUNERAL HOME, Murrysville.

ROSE H. JORDAN

Rose H. Jordan, 84, of Mt. Pleasant, died Monday, March 27, 2000, at the Harmon House Convalescent Center, Mt. Pleasant. Friends were received Tuesday at GALONE-CARUSO'S, 204 Eagle St., Mt. Pleasant. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated today at 10 a.m. in St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church, Mt. Pleasant, with Father Michael W. Matusak as celebrant. Interment St. Pius X Parish Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant.

JOSEPH KROLL JR.

Joseph Kroll Jr., 69, of Penn Borough, died Saturday, March 25, 2000, in Somerset Hospital. He was born Nov. 8, 1930, in Wendel, a son of the late Joseph and Stella (Sasick) Kroll. He was a maintenance engineer in the U.S. Navy. Survived by two sons , Joseph and Dennis Kroll, both of California; two daughters , Kimberly Rosales and Deigh Ann Kroll, both of California; five brothers , John Kroll of Penn, Edward Kroll of Herminie, Walter Kroll of California, Zedman Kroll of California, and Albert Kroll of Penn; three sisters , Myrtle K. Lunn of Irwin, Adeline Stater of Las Vegas, Nev., and Helen Coffee of Utah. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Stanley Kroll; and two sisters , Sophie Dazakto and Josephine Pavlecic. Visitation and funeral were private. Pastor Scott Hill officiating. Private interment in the Westmoreland County Memorial Park. Arrangements by the E.J. RODGERS FUNERAL HOME, Manor.

Dorothy "Dort" Kronenberger, of Castle Shannon, on Monday, March 27, 2000, after a brief illness. Beloved wife of the late John Kronenberger. mother of Lee Kronenberger of Greensburg and Joy Kronenberger of Erie. Sister of Vincent E. Kelly of Baldwin Borough.
