Anna M. Cianci, 72, formerly of Mt. Pocono, died Thursday afternoon in Stroud Manor Nursing Home, East Stroudsburg. She was the wife of the late Celestine J. Cianci who died in 1973.
Born on December 4, 1926, in Glen Lyon, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Anna (Hudak) Malarchik and had lived in the area since 1945. She was a housekeeper for Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church Rectory in Pocono Pines and St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church in Tobyhanna, and had also worked at Stricklands Mt. Inn from 1953 to 1984.
Anna was a member of St. Mary of the Mount Roman Catholic Church in Mt. Pocono and the church's altar and rosary society and was also a member of the altar and rosary society of Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church in Pocono Pines.
She is survived by a daughter, Phyllis A. Anderson of Tannersville; two brothers , Paul Malarchik of Avenel, N.J., and Nicholas Malarchik of North Carolina; two sisters , Mary Malarchik of Newport, R.I., and Julia Urban of Dearborn, Mich.; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three sisters , Sophie Eagle, Effie Waluhas and Verne Luddy, and a brother, Andrew Malarchik.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Mary of the Mount Roman Catholic Church, Mt. Pocono, with Msgr. Arthur J. Kaschenbach as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Gates of Heaven Section of Laurelwood Cemetery, Stroudsburg.
There will be a viewing on Sunday afternoon from 1 to 4 p.m. with Prayer Services at 4 p.m. at the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main Street, Stroudsburg.

Helen Titus, 90, of East Stroudsburg, died on Friday, February 5, at the Milford Manor. She was the wife of the late Ralph H. Titus.
She was born in East Stroudsburg, a daughter of the late Gustus and Demia (Brush) Staples. She had been a resident of Monroe County her lifetime. She was a member of the East Stroudsburg United Methodist Church and the Silver Threads of the Church.
She was a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Acme Hose Company #1 of East Stroudsburg. She was an avid bowler. She was a member of the daughters of the American Revolution.
She is survived by a son, Carl R. "Skip" Titus of East Stroudsburg; a niece, Mirium Krolman of Bethlehem; and two step grandsons.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, February 9, at 1:30 p.m. in the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, 27 Washington Street, East Stroudsburg, with the Reverend Raymond Poortstra officiating.
Interment will be in the Prospect Cemetery, East Stroudsburg. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Tuesday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the services at Lanterman & Allen.

Helen Hale, 94, of Stroudsburg, died Tuesday, February 2, in Laurel Manor, Stroudsburg.
Born in Royersford, Chester Co., she was the daughter of the late Walter and Charlotte (Smith) Hale. She was a resident of Monroe County for the past 52 years. Prior to that she resided in Pottstown.
She was employed by the former Ronson Corporation of Delaware Water Gap as a machine operator for 6 years prior to her retirement. Prior to that she was a private duty nurse for many years.
She was a member of Calvary Bible Church of East Stroudsburg for many years.
She is survived by three nieces, Nancy Kehm of New Ringold, Charlotte McCleary of Mullica Hills, N.J., and Sally Wright of Lindenwold, N.J.; and several grandnieces.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Fernwood Cemetery in Royersford, Pa., with the Reverend Robert McGann officiating.

Emma M. Storm, 97, of East Stroudsburg, died on Thursday evening, February 4, at the Stroud Manor in East Stroudsburg. She was the wife of the late Henry Storm, who died in 1985.
She was born in Rammerville, Pa., a daughter of the late Fred and Frances (Hay) Rake. She had been a resident of Monroe County for most of her lifetime.
She is survived by two daughters , Mary F. Strunk of Stroudsburg and Shirley A. Wilson of Columbus, Ga.; one son, Fred H. Storm of Stroudsburg; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 11 great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Arnold H. Storm.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, 27 Washington Street, East Stroudsburg, with the Reverend Raymond Poortstra officiating.
Interment will be in the Greentown Cemetery, Green Township, Pa. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to the time of the services at Lanterman & Allen.

Carl E. Seagren, 78, of Pocono Summit passed away at Stroud Manor on February 2, 1999, after an illness. He is survived by his wife Doris (Pat) Patterson Seagren.
Born in East Orange, N.J., he was a son of the late Emil and Marie Nelson Seagren.
He was employed as a finish carpenter by the Silver Burnett Company of Philadelphia before coming to the Pocono Summit area. Before coming to our area, he was very active in the Randolph Volunteer Fire Company and was a member of that organization for many years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Nelson who resides in Germany.
A memorial service will be held at the Mt. Pocono United Methodist Church on Saturday, February 13, at 12 noon with the Rev. John Chernock officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Pocono United Methodist Church or the Alzheimer research foundation or a charity of choice.

Altheada H. Frano

Altheada H. Frano, age 87, of Newfoundland, died Friday, February 5, in Mercy Hospital, Scranton. She was the widow of Paul G. Frano who died in 1980.
Born in Hazelton, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Harriet Gross Hall. She had been a resident of Kozy Krest Personal Care Home, Newfoundland for the past eight years. Prior to that, Altheada had lived in Greentown where she owned and operated with her husband the Corner Store from 1947 to 1982.
Altheada is survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, February 7, in the Arthur J. Frey Funeral Home, Route 191, LaAnna. Interment will be in Greentown Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.

Richard J. "uncle Richie" Shovlin, 49, of Saylorsburg, died Friday in Nesquehoning.
He was the husband of Linda (Knecht) Shovlin. They had observed their 21st wedding anniversary in September.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of William J. Shovlin of Bear Creek, and the late Minnie (Casterline) Shovlin.
He had owned and operated Richard and Linda Shovlin Plumbing, Heating and Construction for the past five years. Prior to that, he had been employed by Donald Dunlap Plumbing and Heating in Stroudsburg for 10 years and prior to that he was employed by Arthur Knecht Plumbing and Heating in Pocono Lake for five years.
He was of the Methodist faith.
An avid sportsman, he was a member of the Kunkletown Rod and Gun Club.
In addition to his wife and Father , he is survived by a brother, William R. Shovlin of Lee Park, Wilkes-Barre; two sisters , Myrna Hudack and Patsy Evans, both of Bear Creek, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the Kresge Funeral Home, Route 209 Brodheadsville. A viewing will be held on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

God called my husband, my brother, my son and my friend to share eternal joy and happiness with him on February 5, 1999. He will be dearly missed by those of us he left behind. Although we do not know the reason why you were taken, you will live forever in our hearts and memories.

Erna K. Onken, 89, formerly of Stroudsburg, died Saturday in Stroud Manor, East Stroudsburg. She was the wife of the late Alfred Onken who died in 1959.
Born on Aug. 5, 1909, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Marie (Rinderspacher) Muringer and had lived in the area since 1969, moving from Roscoe, N.Y. She had worked at Birchwood Resort in Pocono Township many years ago.
She is survived by a son, Alfred E. Onken of Marietta, Ga.; two sisters , Victoria Laidlaw of Australia and Lisa Schmidt of Stroudsburg; and several nieces and nephews, including locally, Mary Carol Friel of Pocono Lake, William E. Schmidt of Stroudsburg and Richard A. Schmidt of Stroudsburg. She is also survived by her best friend Kathleen Brush of East Stroudsburg. She was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Heil.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 13, at 3 p.m. in the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main St., Stroudsburg. Private burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery, Roscoe, N.Y.

John T. "Jack" Heilig

John T. "Jack" Heilig, 97, of Stroudsburg, died Saturday at home. He was the husband of the late Evelyn (Minnich) Heilig who died in 1977.
Born on July 6, 1901, in Stroudsburg, he was the son of the late William and Helen (Warner) Heilig. He had lived in Stroudsburg before moving to Maplewood, N.J., returning to Stroudsburg 27 years ago. He was vice president of Savory Equipment in Newark, N.J.
A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School, he was a former member of the Morrow Memorial Methodist Church in Maplewood, N.J., and presently a member of the Stroudsburg United Methodist Church, a member and past president of the National Association of Food Equipment Manufacturing and was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Stroudsburg. He was also active with Meals on Wheels and the American Cancer Society.
He is survived by a daughter, Susan H. Fershing, wife of Robert, of Livingston, N.J.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main St., Stroudsburg, with the Rev. George S. Rigby Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Laurelwood Cemetery, Stroudsburg.
There will be a viewing on Wednesday from 1 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
