Devorah "Ditty" Ehrlich, 72, of East Stroudsburg, died on Friday, January 29, at the Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg. She was the wife on the late Myron Ehrlich, who died May 4, 1998.
She was born in East Stroudsburg; a daughter of the late Simon and Mollie (Herman) Kantrowitz. She had been a resident of Monroe County, also residing in Woodridge, N.Y. and Brooklyn, N.Y.
She was a bookkeeper in New York City for several years. She was also the bookkeeper for the former Ehrlich's Market in East Stroudsburg for a short time, retiring to raise her family. She won the Sullivan County, N.Y. beauty contest when she was 17 years old. She was a volunteer at the Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg for several years. She was known for her love of her family.
She is survived by a daughter, Judith A. Ehrlich of Bethlehem; a son, Michael L. Ehrlich of Fairfax, Va.; a granddaughter, Rebekah Ehrlich of East Stroudsburg; a brother, Larry Kantrowitz of West Orange, N.J.; a dear friend, Jim Newbauer, of Fairfax, Va.; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Daniel H. Ehrlich.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 2, at 7 p.m. in the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, 27 Washington St., East Stroudsburg.
Prior to the memorial service, relatives and friends may pay their respects to the family on Tuesday from 6 to 7 p.m. at Lanterman & Allen. Cremation will take place in the Arlington Cemetery, White hall. Both Myron's and Devorah's cremains will be interred together at a later date.

Auriel C. Anstedt, 76, of Stroudsburg, died on Sunday, January 31, at the home of her sister, Maxine Saunders in Bushkill.
She was born in Lake, N.Y., a daughter of the late Raymond and Bessie (McGarah) Cooper. She had been a resident of Monroe County for the past 12 years and prior to that of Chatham, N.J. She was of the Methodist faith.
She was employed as a secretary by the Monroe County Beautification Program.
She is survived by a sister, Maxine, wife of Harold Saunders of Bushkill; a nephew, Ronald Saunders of Port Republic, Md.; and a great nephew, Sean Saunders of Bushkill.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 3, at 11 a.m. in the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, 27 Washington Street, East Stroudsburg with the Rev. Robert Shrom officiating.
Interment will be in the Sand Hill Cemetery, Shoemakers. There will be no viewing.

Marie F. Mitchell

Marie F. Mitchell, 92, of Stroudsburg, died at the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg on Saturday, Jan. 30 after a month's illness there. She was a resident of Pleasant Valley Manor since February 1994. She was the wife of the late William C. Mitchell, who died on Feb. 14, 1997. They had celebrated 68 years of marriage.
Born on Nov. 30, 1906 in Carbondale, she was the daughter of the late Frank W. and Eliza (Hocking) Ferrel. Marie and her husband, Bill, founded Mitchell's Meat Market in February 1955 and were joined by their son, Ted , in September 1955. Bill and Ted worked together until 1978 when Bill retired.
Marie lived in Carbondale, Scranton, Sunbury and Forty-Fort before coming to Stroudsburg in 1955, they lived here until 1979 when they retired to Titusville, Fla. returning here in 1989 to be close to their family.
Marie was a member of the Stroudsburg United Methodist Church; the Christian Pals Sunday School Class and the Mary Circle of Women's Society. She was a past president of Stroudsburg Women's Club and was also a member of the Glenbrook Country Club Golf League.
She is survived by a son, Ted L. Mitchell, husband of Audrey Mitchell, of Stroudsburg; two daughters , Sally A. Small, wife of G. Kenneth Small of Ft. Pierce, Fla., and Sue Carol Gartner, wife of Gehard Gartner, of Nashville, Tenn.; eight grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Pleasant Valley Manor Activities Fund, 4227 Manor Drive, Stroudsburg, PA 18360.
Memorial services will be held at a later date at which time both Bill and Marie's cremains will be interred together in the Laurelwood Cemetery, Stroudsburg.

Howard D. Gwyn, 51, of Brodheadsville, died on Wednesday, January 27, at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire, as the result of a skiing accident while vacationing in New Hampshire.
He was the husband of Eileen (Donahue) Gwyn. They had been married 30 years.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Howard Sr. and Sarah (Dennis) Gwyn.
He was a member of the Victory Baptist Church in Brodheadsville.
He had been a truck driver, having worked for Roadway in Tannersville for 11 years. Prior to that he had been a bus driver for Greyhound Bus Lines, working out of New York City.
He had belonged to Central Penn Teamsters Union. He was also a member of the Y.M.C.A. in Stroudsburg.
He was a Marine Corps veteran, having served in the Vietnam War.
In addition to his wife Eileen, he is survived by a daughter, Margaret "Margie" Gwyn of Strasburg; a brother, Richard Gwyn of O'Fallon, Missouri; a sister, Grace Timms of Ben Salem; and his mother -in-law, Margaret Donahue of Effort.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 2, at the Donald N. Gower Funeral Home Inc., Route 209, Gilbert with Pastor Lloy Stevens officiating. Interment will follow in the Buena Vista Cemetery, Brodheadsville.
Visitation will be held 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 1, at the Donald N. Gower Funeral Home Inc., Route 209, Gilbert.

Devon Samuel Starks, 4, of Woodbridge, N.J., died on January 28, 1999.
He was the son of Shannon Starks of Woodbridge, N.J., and Monica Rever of Mount Bethel.
In addition to his parent he is survived by a sister, Quiana Starks of Mount Bethel; grandparents: Wayne Rever of Mount Bethel; Nancy Rever of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; Pastor M. Starks of Woodbridge, N.J.; and Darphus Cannon of Union, N.J.; two great-grandmothers, Myrtle Rever of Philadelphia, and Ms. H. Western of Woodbridge, N.J.; and aunts, uncles, relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 4, at Perry's Funeral Home, 34 Mercer Street, corner Lincoln Street, Newark, N.J. Viewing will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Linden, N.J.

Leon J. Shiner

Leon Shiner, 85, of Pocono Summit died Monday at Pocono Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Theresa John Shiner, who died in 1977.
Born in Hardine, he was the son of Joseph and Marlene Shiner.
He was a scrap dealer in Wilkes-Barre and the Poconos for 40 years, retiring in 1990.
He was a member of St. Mary's of the Mount Church in Mt. Pocono and St. George Maronite Church in Wilkes-Barre. He was a life-long member of the Pocono Summit Fire Department.
He is survived by daughters Mrs. Paul (Anne) Bedwick of Wilkes Barre; Barbara Shimko of Pocono Summit; Mrs. Karam (Marlene) Abiaad f Long Pond; sons Leon Jr. of Pocono Summit; Michael of Buffelton, S.C.; Richard of Pocono Pines; 14 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife; a son Joseph Shiner in 1992; and 10 brothers and sisters .
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 4, at 9:30 a.m. at Desiderio Funeral Home, Inc., 377 Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre with funeral liturgy at 10 a.m. at St. George Maronite Church, 79 Loomis St., Wilkes-Barre. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call Wednesday, Feb. 3, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Father Fahed Azar will have incense service at 8 p.m. Wednesday. Wilbur A. Gower, 69, of Wind Gap, died Sunday in the Liberty Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Allentown.
He was the husband of Jane (Voorhees) Gower. They had observed their 35th wedding anniversary in July.
Born in Kunkletown, he was a son of the late Stanley Gower and the late Florence (Balliet) Gower Green.
He had been a machinist at the James River Corporation in Easton for 30 years, retiring in 1993.
He was a World War II Air Force veteran and a member of the Wind Gap American Legion and the VFW in Bangor.
He was a member of St. Matthew's United Church of Christ in Kunkletown.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a brother, Merlin Gower of Kunkletown; his step- Father , Allen Green of Palmerton; a step-son, Charles Taylor of Wind Gap; a step-grandson, Joseph Ciorra Jr. of Pompano Beach, Fla.; a step-brother, Joseph Green of Johnstown; a step-sister, Mary Levandusky of Palmerton; and one niece and one nephew.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday from the Kresge Funeral Home, Route 209, Brodheadsville. Burial will be in St. Matthew's Cemetery, Kunkletown. A viewing will be held on Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Lizzie Turner, 88, formerly of East Stroudsburg, died Sunday evening in the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg. She was the wife of the late Frank Turner.
Born on January 19, 1911 in Reeders, she was the daughter of the late Norman and Agnes (Kresge) Belcher and had lived in the area all of her life. She was of the Methodist faith.
She is survived by a brother, Edward Belcher of Stroudsburg and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Nettie Price Eget and a brother, John Belcher.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. in the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main Street, Stroudsburg with Rev. Carol A. Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in the Tannersville Union Cemetery.
There will be a viewing on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
