Clayton C. Mosher, 88 of Stroudsburg died Monday afternoon at Laurel Manor Nursing Home, Stroudsburg. He was the husband of the late Helen M. (Ritter) Mosher who died January 16, 1998.
Born on January 17, 1911 in Blossburg, he was a son of the late Charles D. and Mabel E. (Eddings) Mosher and had lived in Monroe County for over 36 years having previously lived in Oakland, N.J., for one year and Danville, Pa.
He had worked as a construction superintendent for George M. Brewster & sons in Bogota, N.J., and after retiring from there, he worked for Monroe County Park & Recreation.
He served in the National Guard and was a member of the Stroudsburg United Methodist Church, a life-member of the BPO Elks #319, East Stroudsburg, and was a former member of the Loyal Order of Moose.
Surviving are a son, James C. Mosher, Sr., and his wife, Sylvia, of East Stroudsburg; a daughter, Barbara A. Mosher of Stroudsburg; a grandson, James C. Mosher, Jr., of Saylorsburg; a granddaughter, Kimberly Marie Mosher of Pen Argyl; two great grandchildren, Victoria Mosher of Saylorsburg and Kaitlynn Nelson of Pen Argyl; a brother, Glenn Mosher, of Lauderdale, Miss.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 29, at 1:30 p.m. from the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main Street, Stroudsburg, with the Rev. George S. Rigby, Jr., officiating. Burial will follow in the Buena Vista Cemetery, Brodheadsville.
There will be a viewing on Friday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the services.
The family has requested that memorial. contributions be made to the Stroudsburg United Methodist Church, 547 Main Street, Stroudsburg, PA 18360.

Clair M. Halstead

Clair M. "Red" Halstead, 80, of RD 8, East Stroudsburg, died Monday in the Laurel Manor Nursing Home, Stroudsburg.
He was the husband of Shirley M. (Pipher) Taylor Halstead. They had observed their 24th wedding anniversary in February of 1998.
Born in Pocono Pines, he was a son of the late George and Celia (Keiper)) Halstead.
Well known throughout the Poconos for his masonry skill, especially fireplaces which was a specialty, Clair had worked on building projects such as Pocono Hospital, East Stroudsburg University, Shawnee Inn, the Delaware Water Gap Toll Bridge, Unity House, the Stroudsburg Y.M.C.A., and numerous others. He had also done the masonry work at the home of W. Peter Ahnert in Bushkill. He later worked as a caretaker for Mr. Ahnert for fifteen years. He had owned and operated H & J Masonry in Marshalls Creek for 30 years.
He was a member of the Saylorsburg Playground Association and was a former member of the Blue Ridge Hook and Ladder Company in Saylorsburg.
He is survived by a son, George Halstead of Saylorsburg; a daughter, Joyce Hill of Saylorsburg; two stepsons, Fred Taylor of Bushkill and Ronald Taylor of Cresco; a stepdaughter, Diane Jensen of Bushkill; a sister, Doris Serfass of Pocono Sumit; eleven grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters , Catherine Frable and Shirley Toth.

Paul D. Weber, 63, of Brodheadsville, died Monday, January 25, at the Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg.
He was the husband of Patricia (Day) Weber. They had been married 22 years.
Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Paul and Anna (Stinner) Weber. He and his wife own and operate Day Weber Office Supply in Brodheadsville. Prior to that, he had worked as a Manager for Citgo Oil Company in Woodbridge, Va., retiring in 1987. Prior to working for Citgo, he had worked as a Machinist at a family owned business, Allentown Pattern and Model Works in Allentown.
He was a member of the Pleasant Valley Presbyterian Church in Brodheadsville. He was an active member of the West End Volunteer Fire Company in Brodheadsville, a member of the Monroe County Fire Police in which he served on the Board of Directors, and was a former Lieutenant. He was a founding member of Save-A-Dog Humane Society of Brodheadsville.
In addition to his wife, Patricia, he is survived by 2 sons , Paul Weber, Jr., of Allentown and Peter Weber, also of Allentown; 2 daughters , Mary wife of Richard Greenberg of Allentown and Julie wife of Barry Rhode of Lehighton; 2 stepsons, Thomas Day of Panama City, Fla., and Timothy and his wife Gina Day of Kresgeville; 4 sisters , Ruth Schadt of Coopersburg, Elizabeth Gladfelter of Allentown, Irene Werley of Salisbury Twp., and Jean Plummer of Binghamton, N.Y.; eleven grandchildren; and 1 great granddaughter.
A viewing will be held Wednesday, January 27, from 7 until 8 p.m. at the Donald N. Gower Funeral Home, Inc., Route 209, Gilbert, with Fireman Services at 7 p.m.
Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at the Pleasant Valley Presbyterian Church in Brodheadsville with Rev. Robert Stier officiating.
Interment will be at the convenience of the family.

Marie K. Hughes, 69, of Nazareth, died Monday in Easton Hospital. She was the wife of Ronald J. Hughes, at home. They had celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary last July.
Born June 22, 1929 in Blairstown, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Belle (Christman) Hamilton.
She was of the Methodist Faith.
She was a graduate of Portland High School and East Stroudsburg Normal School and was a member of the I.L.G.W.U.
She worked as a seamstress for various blouse mills in the Slate Belt and Nazareth area before retiring.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by 2 sons , Dale Hughes of Upper Nazareth Twp. and David Hughes of Nazareth; 1 sister, Betty Brands of Columbia, N.J.; and 5 grandchildren. 1 sister, Doris Hamilton, died earlier.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Reed/Gaffney Funeral Home, Inc., 4 Lillian Lane, Johnsonville. Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery in Portland, Pa.
Friends and family may call Thursday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service in the Funeral Home.

Margaret M. Ettinger
January 25, 1999
Margaret M. Ettinger, 89, a resident of Brookmont Health Care, Inc., in Brodheadsville, and formerly of Portland, Pa., died Monday at Brookmont Health Care. She was the wife of the late Carl D. Ettinger who died in 1984.
Born July 12, 1909 in Portland, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Simpson B. and Hattie (Hoover) Cruver.
She was of the Methodist Faith.
She was a graduate of Stroudsburg High School and East Stroudsburg Normal School. She was a member of the Pa. Retired Teachers Association and a member of the Shutanka Chapter #202 Order of the Eastern Star.
She was an elementary teacher in the Bangor Area School District retiring in 1971. Prior to that, she taught for 13 years in the former Slateford School.
She is survived by nieces and nephews. 5 brothers and 3 sisters died earlier.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. in the Reed/Gaffney Funeral Home, Inc., 4 Lillian Lane, Johnsonville. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Portland, Pa.
Family and friends may call Thursday evening, 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Order of Eastern Star Service will be held Thursday at 8 p.m. in the funeral home.

Edward W. Gordon, 74, of Stroudsburg, died on Monday morning at Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg.
Born in East Stroudsburg, he was the son of the late Edward and Ethel Gordon.
He worked at Line Material in East Stroudsburg as a galvanizer for nearly 30 years.
He was a member of East Stroudsburg United Methodist Church. He served as president of the council at Pleasant Valley Manor.
He is survived by a son, Larry Gordon of East Stroudsburg; two daughters , Linda Mutchler of Jefferson ville, Ind., and Jane Slack of East Stroudsburg; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 29 at 11 a.m. from the Thomas Funeral Home, 401 North Fifth Street, Stroudsburg. Burial will be in the Prospect Cemetery in East Stroudsburg.
There will be a viewing on Wednesday, January 27 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Louis T. Hopke, 94, of Dallas, Texas , and formerly of Mount. Pocono, died Tuesday in Dallas, Texas . He was the husband of the late Alice P (Herrick) Hopke who died in 1992.
Born on September 8, 1904, in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of the late John Henry and Adelaide (Schreiffer) Hopke and had been a resident of Mount. Pocono for over sixty years before moving to Dallas, Texas . He retired in 1969 as supervisor from Pennsylvania Power and Light Company after forty years of service.
A graduate of the Pratt Institute, he was a member of the Mount Pocono United Methodist Church, the Pocono Mountain Volunteer Fire Company where he served as chief for ten years, and a former member of the Pocono Mountain Rotary Club, Mount Pocono.
He is survived by a daughter, Mary Louise McGuffey of Dallas, Texas ; four grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be private at the convenience of the family in the Pocono Lake Cemetery, Pocono Lake.

Teresa H. DeLany, 80, of East Stroudsburg, died on Tuesday, January 26, at the Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg. She was the wife of the late Louis Badolato, who died in 1983, and the late Howard E. DeLany, who died in 1993.
She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., a daughter of the late Antonio and Carmela (Anzalone) D'Ambrosio. She had been a resident of Monroe County for the past 30 years and prior to that of Brooklyn, N.Y.
She was a member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church in East Stroudsburg, a member of the Altar and Rosary Society, and the Friendship Club at St. Matthew's Church.
She is survived by 2 sisters , Isabel Murphy of East Stroudsburg and Antoinette Joseph of Sun City West, Ariz.; 2 brothers , Antonio D'Ambrosio of Naples, Fla., and Carmine D'Ambrosio of Kingwood, Texas ; and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 30, at 10 a.m. in St. Matthew's Catholic Church, East Stroudsburg, with Msgr. John A. Bergamo as the celebrant.
Interment will take place in the Laurelwood Cemetery, Stroudsburg. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Friday evening, January 29, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, 27 Washington Street, East Stroudsburg.
