Violet T. Koluch, 82, of East Stroudsburg, died Wednesday, January 6,1999, in the Pocono Medical Center. She was the wife of the late Stanley F. Koluch.
Born in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late Michael and Eva Muraczewski.
She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, Marshalls Creek.
She is survived by a daughter, Linda V. Dorman of East Stroudsburg; a son, Richard S. Koluch of Wilmington, N.C.; three grandchildren, Richard, Brian and Elaine Koluch, all of Long Island, N.Y.; three great-grandchildren, Briana, Richard, and Robert Koluch; and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 9, at 9:30 a.m., in St. John's Catholic Church with Msgr. Joseph P. Kelly as the celebrant.
A viewing will take place on Saturday from 9 to 9:30 a.m. in the Church. Interment will take place in Laurelwood Cemetery, Stroudsburg.

John D. Holmes, Jr., 73, of Stuart, Fla., died Wednesday, January 6, 1999, in Carteret, N.J.
He was the husband of the former Louise Dawe of Stuart, Fla.
Born in Elizabeth, N.J., June 21, 1925, he was the son of the late John Dudley Holmes, Sr., and the late Ethel Miller Holmes.
Before retiring, he was the Chairman of the Board of Gateway Terminal Services Corp., Carteret, N.J.
He was a 1946 graduate of Cornell University, with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
He was a Lieutenant in the United States Navy.
He was a member of Shawnee Presbyterian Church, Shawnee on the Delaware; a member of the National Tank Truck Carriers; a member of the International Order of Characters; a member of the National Antique Auto Club of America; a member of the Pocono Regional Antique Car Club; and a member of the Cornell Engineering Society.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Sharon H. Potter of Somerset, N.J.; two sons , T. Kevin Holmes of Charleston, S.C., and T. Bradley Holmes of Pedricktown, N.J.; a step-son, James Bethman of Mt. Bethel; and eight grandchildren.
He was proceeded in death by a son, John Guy Holmes.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 9, 1999, at 10 a.m. at the Shawnee Presbyterian Church, Church Road, Shawnee on the Delaware. There will be a viewing Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Guerro & Ruggiero Funeral Home, 126 E. Pennsylvania Avenue, Pen Argyl. Interment will be private.

Ina S. Chapman, 77, of Sebring, Florida, died Friday morning, January 1, 1999.
She was the wife of Boyd W. Chapman. They had celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary in June of 1998.
Ina was born in Gurock, Scotland, and moved to Scranton in the early 1930's where she lived prior to becoming a resident of Stroudsburg in 1958.
An avid golfer, Ina was a member of Highlands Ridge Golf Association and a former member of Glenbrook Country Club and River Ranch Golf Association. She had been a member of the Stroudsburg United Methodist Church before moving to Florida in 1984.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters , Susan Greene of Daytona Beach, Fla., and Nancy McNamee of Newton, N.J.; a grandson, Brendan McNamee; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held in Sebring, Fla., at Highlands Ridge on Monday, Jan. 11, at 4 p.m.
A memorial service for local family and friends will be held on Saturday, Jan. 23, at 1 p.m., at the Stroudsburg United Methodist Church, Stroudburg.

Myrtle E. Beers, age 79, of Kunkletown, died Wednesday, January 6, 1999, at the Mahoning Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Lehighton.
She was the wife of the late Clair A. Beers who died in 1997.
She was born in Pen Argyl on November 10, 1919,.
She was the daughter of the late Elmer and Carrie (Ace) Marsh.
She and her late husband owned and operated the Meadowbrook Diner in Brodheadsville for 19 years until her retirement.
She was a member of Middlecreek Christian Church in Kunkletown.
She was also a Founder of the church.
She was a member of the Young at Heart Senior Citizens in Kresgeville.
She is survived by a daughter, Sandra, wife of Frank Molenaar of Palmerton; 4 stepsons: Raymond Beers of Cherry Valley, Rodney Beers of Wilkes-Barre, Rick Beers of Effort, and Roland Beers of Kunkletown; 1 stepdaughter, JoAnn Ziegenfus of Saylorsburg; a sister, Gloria Rissmiller of Easton; 13 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, January 11, 1999, at Middlecreek Christian Church in Kunkletown with the Rev. Frank Robatin officiating.
Viewing will be held Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the Church.
Interment will be in the Middlecreek Community Cemetery, Kunkletown.

Irene W. Cramer, 88, of West Palm Beach, Fla., formerly of Marshalls Creek, died on Wednesday, January 6, 1999, in a West Palm Beach, Fla., hospital. She was the widow of the late Weldon Cramer.
Born in Scranton, she was a daughter of the late Karl and Emma (Frohlich) Werry. She was a resident of Monroe County for most of her lifetime.
Prior to her retirement, she and her husband were owners and operators of the former Sunnybrook Resort and Hotel (now Lake of the Pines) in Echo Lake, Middle Smithfield Twp. for 30 years selling in 1959.
She and her husband were also owners and operators of Pocono Car Wash in Stroud Twp., for many years until retirement.
Former memberships include Amaranth of the Stroudsburgs, Dorothy Lim Chapter and the Pocono Art Club.
She is survived by a sister, Bertha W. Maurer of West Palm Beach, Fla., also formerly of Marshalls Creek; and a step-daughter, Jenette R. Cramer of Emmaus.
Memorial Funeral Services will be held in Pennsylvania at a later date in the spring.
There will be no viewing. Committal of cremains will take place following the memorial service in the spring in Sand Hill Cemetery, Shoemakers, Pa.

Alfonso Artiz, 90, of Stroudsburg, died Wednesday January 6, 1999, in the Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg. He was the husband of Luz Sanchez Ortiz, at home.
Born in Puerto Rico, he was a resident of Stroudsburg for the past year residing with his granddaughter, Lucy David of Stroudsburg. Prior to that, he lived in the Bronx, N.Y., area.
He was employed as an Elevator Operator in New York City for many years.
He was of the Catholic faith.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Burial will be on Monday, January 11, in Puerto Rico.

William Torzillo
January 6, 1999
William Torzillo, 82, of East Stroudsburg, died on Wednesday at the Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg. He was the husband of the late Ella Mae (Snow) Torzillo, who died in 1984.
Born in Stroudsburg, he was the son of the late Leonard and Myrtle (Sickler) Torzillo.
He was a 1933 graduate of Stroudsburg High School.
He was a partner of the former Monroe Distributor Company in Stroudsburg. He later was a truck driver for Pocono Motor Freight and Friedman's Express from where he retired in 1978.
In 1943, he was certified as one of the early Fire School Instructors by the Pennsylvania Fire Company #2 of the Stroudsburg Fire Company. He instructed fire school in Northeastern Pennsylvania and Western New Jersey for many years. In addition to being a member of Stroudsburg Fire Department, he was an honorary life member of Stroud Twp. Fire Department of which he helped organize and was an instructor for many years and an honorary member of the West End Fire Company.
He was a member and organizer of the Monroe County Firemen's Association and the Monroe County Fire School.
He is survived by three daughters , Jacqueline Smith of Stroudsburg, Naomi Gravle and Patricia Yannucci, both of East Stroudsburg; a sister, Lucy Viechnicki of East Stroudsburg; nine grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Constable, who died in 1981.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, January 11, 1999, at 1:30 p.m. from the Thomas Funeral Home, 401 North Fifth Street, Stroudsburg, with the Rev. Carol Brown officiating.
There will be a viewing on Monday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Margaret T. "Dolly" Lippincott, 72, of Sciota, died Thursday in St. Lukes Hospital, Fountain Hill.
She was the wife of Jack Lippincott. They had observed their 50th wedding anniversary in December.
Born in Easton, she was a daughter of the late John R. and Margaret G. (Hoffmeier) Sigman.
She had been a waitress at the King Arthur Restaurant at Pocono View Motel in Sciota for three years, retiring in 1974. Prior to that, she had been a trimmer at Valerie Fashions in Wind Gap for four years, and at Delightform, Inc., in Easton for five years.
She was an active member of Christ Hamilton United Lutheran Church in Hamilton Square and a Past President of the Christ Hamilton Seniors. She was a Past President of the VFW Post 5382 Ladies Auxiliary in Sciota and an active member of the VFW Post 2540 Ladies Auxiliary in Stroudsburg. She was a very active volunteer with the Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network and she was a member of the Blue Mountain Antique Gas and Steam Engine Association, Inc., in Bangor.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons , Glen and Alan Lippincott, both of Sciota; a daughter, Gail Colbeth of Sciota; a brother, Charles Sigman in North Carolina; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday from Christ Hamilton United Lutheran Church with the Rev. Ralph Boyer IV and Fred Robertson officiating. Burial will be in Buena Vista Cemetery, Brodheadsville. A viewing will be held on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. from the Kresge Funeral Home, Route 209, Brodheadsville, and on Monday from 9 to 10 a.m. in the covenant house of the church.

Minta E. "Minnie" Watson, 77, of Chicago Heights, Il., and formerly of Tobyhanna, died Thursday in St. James Hospital, Chicago Heights, Il. She was the wife of the late George W. Watson who died in 1985.
Born on Sept. 12, 1921 in Lothian, Md., she was the daughter of the late Paris and Isabell (Tyler) Anderson and had moved from Baltimore, Md. to Tobyhanna in 1954, later moving to Chicago Heights, Il. in 1986. She had worked in housekeeping during the summer months at Camp Tegawitha, Tobyhanna. She had also done private housekeeping as well as working in the kitchen at the Tobyhanna Army Depot.
She was a member of the Tobyhanna United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a son, George Watson, Jr. of Chicago Heights, Il.; a daughter, Cheryl Clark of Newfoundland; six grandchildren; three sisters , Ozella Blair and Blanche Coleman, both of Washington D.C. and Isabell Moody of Baltimore, Md.; a sister-in-law, Hattie Phillips of Tobyhanna; five brothers , Stephen Anderson of Arnold, Md., Edgar Anderson of Washington D.C., Hillary Anderson and George Anderson, both of Annapolis, Md. and Garfield Anderson of Lothian, Md.; and several nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by two brothers , Willie Anderson and Fred Anderson.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. in the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main St., Stroudsburg, with Rev. Joan Pacocha officiating. Burial will follow in the Stroudsburg Cemetery.
There will be a viewing on Thursday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
