Lottie Marshall, 89, of Stroudsburg died Saturday in Pleasant Valley Manor, Hamilton Township. She was the wife of the late John Marshall, who died in 1981.
Born May 8, 1909, in Neosho, Mo., she was the daughter of the late Charles William and Sarah Alice (Jones) Kruse and had lived in the area since 1960, moving here from Hot Sulphur Springs, Col., where she had worked as a telephone operator for the Mountain States Telephone Company for 16 years.
She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Doris Marshall of Stroudsburg; a grandson, Blake Marshall of Stroudsburg; two brothers , Kenneth W. Kruse of Stroudsburg and Alfred Charles Kruse of Ronan, Mont.; three sisters , Alice Eaton of Mayer, Ariz., Wanetta McTargart of Moab, Utah and Addie Steamboat Springs, Colo.; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Justin LaVern Marshall, a sister, and four brothers .
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main Street, Stroudsburg with Rev. Joseph Barth officiating. Burial will follow in the Laurelwood Cemetery, Stroudsburg.
There will be a viewing on Wednesday from 1 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Mary Warner, 66, of Stroudsburg died on Saturday evening at home.
Born in Rutherford, N.J. , she was the daughter of the late William and Willita (Mansfield) Rogalinski. She lived most of her life in Stroudsburg.
She was employed by Grant's Department Store, K-Mart, and Stroud Manor, all in East Stroudsburg.
She was a member of St. Luke's Church and the Ladies Guild of St. Luke's.
She is survived by a daughter, Deborah Warner, East Stroudsburg; three sons , Craig Warner, Canadensis, Patrick Warner, Stroudsburg, and Bruce Warner, Marshalls Creek; two brothers , William Rogalinski, Bushkill and Matthew Rogalinski, East Stroudsburg; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 6 at 10 a.m. from the Thomas Funeral Home, 401 North Fifth Street, Stroudsburg. Burial will be in the Stroudsburg Cemetery.
There will be a viewing from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to the Ladies Guild of St. Luke's, 818 Main Street, Stroudsburg.

Lorraine P. Borger, 57, of R.D. 1, Saylorsburg, died Sunday in her home.
She was the wife of Martin R. Borger. They had observed their 37th wedding anniversary in April of 1998.
Born in Kresgeville, she was a daughter of Marvin Serfass of Lehighton, and the late Alverta (Smale) Serfass.
She had been a floor worker at various blouse mills for 30 years.
She was a member of St. Matthews United Church of Christ in Kunkletown.
She was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union.
In addition to her husband and Father , she is survived by two daughters , Justine Shirghio of Twenty Nine Palms, Calif., and Karen Cramer of Saylorsburg; a son, Jason Borger of Saylorsburg; a brother, Kenneth Serfass of Kunkletown; a sister, Ellen Kresge of Kunkletown, and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday from the Kresge Funeral Home, Route 209, Brodheadsville, with the Rev. Robert Harting officiating. Burial will be in St. Matthews Cemetery, Kunkletown. A viewing will be held on Wednesday from Noon until the time of the service.

William M. Serfass Jr., 60, of Stroudsburg died Saturday in the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg. He was the husband of Lillian (Amerman) Kozimor Serfass, at home.
Born on Sept. 19, 1938 in East Stroudsburg, he was the son of the late William Sr. and Martha (Getz) Serfass and had lived in the area all of his life. He had worked for Cooper Industries, East Stroudsburg for 33 years.
A veteran of Vietnam, he served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the George N. Kemp Post 346, American Legion, East Stroudsburg.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Lonnie Kelly of Lexington, N.C.; a son, William Serfass III of Lexington, N.C.; a step-daughter, Linda Tichenor of Blairstown, N.C.; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Serfass of East Stroudsburg; three sisters , Marie Serfass of East Stroudsburg, Nancy Serfass of Stroudsburg and Lorraine Decker of Marshalls Creek.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main Street, Stroudsburg, with Rev. Thomas Anderman officiating. Burial will follow in the Prospect Cemetery, East Stroudsburg.
There will be a viewing on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

Curt A. Boyer

Curt A. Boyer, 47, of Saylorsburg died on Saturday, Jan. 2, at the Lehigh Valley Hospital Center in Allentown. He was the husband of Jill (Asure) Boyer.
He was born in Pottsville, a son of John. O. and Cleona (Moshinsky) Boyer of Pocono Lake. He had been a resident of Monroe County for most of his lifetime.
Curt was an electrical engineer, employed by Lucent Technologies in Allentown as well as a prominent local Singer, songwriter, recording artist and guitar player. He was a member of several well-known area bands and early in his career toured the United States. Curt also wrote and produced two compact discs.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by a daughter, Amy L. Boyer and a son, Jacob P. Boyer, both at home; a sister, Robin James of Tobyhanna,; two brothers , Peter Boyer of Blakeslee and John L. Boyer of Scotrun and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Wed. Jan. 6, at 10 a.m. in the Paradise Valley Assembly of God Church, Route 940, Paradise Valley with Rev. David Crosby officiating.
Cremation will take place in the Arlington Crematory, White hall Township. There will be no viewing.

Lloyd J. Fredmund

Lloyd J. Fredmund passed away Dec. 29, 1998 at the Partridge Tippett Nursing Home in Wesley Village, Pittston. He resided in the Pocono Summit area on Long Pond Road until Dec. 1.
Mr. Fredmund was born Lloyd George Jensen on April 3, 1918 in Irene, So. Dakota to James Jensen and Henrietta Knutson. After the death of his mother he was adopted, at the age of 4, by Danish Baptist minister, Immanuel Fredmund and his wife Anna Davidson. They went to Calgary Alberta, Canada, where he attended grade school, and on to Chicago, Ill., for high school. The family then moved to Washington , Iowa, where he attended junior college. It was there he met his wife Gladys Turnipseed. They were married on Nov. 14, 1938 by his Father .
Immediately following Pearl Harbor he began work for the U.S. Army in civilian capacity at Rock Island Arsenal, Rock Island, Ill. In Sept. 1959 he transferred to Erie Ordnance Depot, Port Clinton, Ohio, and in 1961 to Tooele Ordnance Depot, Tooele, Utah. He came to Tobyhanna Army Depot in 1963, serving as director of distribution and transportation until his retirement in June 1973.
Mr. Fredmund served two years overseas in the U.S. Army during World War II in the 42nd Rainbow Division. He is a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He is a member of Mount Pocono United Methodist Church and Pocono Lodge 780 F.&A.M. He was an avid golfer and wintered in New Smyrna Beach, Fla. for many years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children: Judith McIrvin of Chantilly, Va.; L. John Fredmund of Tobyhanna; Janet Kuplinski of Gilbert, Ariz.; James Fredmund of Laurel, Md.; and Julie Heiney of Canadensis; nine beloved grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by five sisters : Josephine Peterson of Fremont, Calif.; Gladys Ibs of El Dorado Hills, Calif.; Clara Webb of Newport News, Va.; Marion Mosher of Hobbs, N. Mexico; and Evelyn Wolfe of Baltimore, Md.; and a brother, Norman Christopherson of Jones, Mich. He was preceded in death by a brother Melvin Jensen.
Private services will be held at Myers Manor, Wesley Village, Pittston, conducted by Rev. Wesley Kemp, chaplain. Cremation has taken place.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mount Pocono Methodist Church, Alzheimer's, or charity of your choice.

Catharine A. Rider
January 3, 1999
Catharine A. Rider, 89, of Cresco, died on Sunday, Jan. 3 at the Pleasant Valley Manor in Snydersville. She was the wife of the late Harry Rider, who died on May 7, 1998.
She was born in Philadelphia, a daughter of the late Charles and Etta (Wood) Hulitt. She had been a resident of Monroe County for most of her lifetime. She was a member of the Canadensis United Methodist Church. She was the superintendent of the church Sunday School for 40 years.
She along with her husband was a custom upholsterer for over 60 years at Pocono Manor, Skytop Lodge, Buck Hill Falls and Mount Airy Lodge, retiring in 1988. They created draperies for the East Wing of the White House during the Truman Presidency.
She was instrumental in forming the 1st school in Monroe County for the mentally challenged. She was a school bus driver for the handicapped and a Girl Scout Leader in Barrett Township for many years.
She was a member of the evaluation committee for the inspection of hospital facilities for the mentally challenged and was a board member of Mental Health Mental Retardation. She was also a member of the 1964 Democratic National Presidential Election Hospitality Committee.
She is survived by three daughters : Kathleen Buckley of Sterling; M. Effie Vranka of Boulder, Colo.; and Bonnie Rine of AuSable Forks, N.Y.; two sons , Harry D. Rider Jr. of Tobyhanna and James T. Rider of Sterling; 19 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two daughters , Dixie and Carletta.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 9 at 11 a.m. in the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, 27 Washington Street, East Stroudsburg, with the Rev. Russell Walters officiating.
Interment will e in the Delaware Water Gap Cemetery, Delaware Water Gap. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Friday, Jan. 8, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Sherdon C. Butz, 59, of Stroudsburg, died Monday morning in his home. He was the husband of Gale (Sullivan) Butz to whom he had been married since November 3, 1962.
Born on February 27, 1939 in Appenzell, he was the son of the late Clyde H. and Vivian A. (Doll) Butz and had lived in the area all of his life. He had worked as a television service man for Sears for seven years until 1969 when he became the owner/operator of Stroud TV and Appliance in Stroudsburg.
A 1957 graduate of Stroudsburg High School, he graduated from the Allentown Electronic Training Center. He was active in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1957 to 1958.
He was a member of the Stroudsburg United Methodist Church and Past president of the Stroudsburg United Methodist Men. He was the institutional representative for the Boy Scouts of America Troop 86 and a member of the Knights of Malta.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons David Butz and his wife Jamie, Dale Butz, and Daniel Butz, all of Stroudsburg; two grandchildren, Emily Butz and Ryan Butz, both of Stroudsburg; a brother, Harold L. Butz of Stroudsburg; and four nephews and one niece.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 8 p.m. in the Stroudsburg United Methodist Church, Main Street, Stroudsburg, with Rev. George S. Rigby, Jr. and Rev. Thomas Anderman officiating. Graveside services will be on Friday at 1 p.m. in the Laurelwood Cemetery, Stroudsburg.
There will be a viewing on Thursday from 1 to 3 p.m. in the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main Street, Stroudsburg, and from 6 p.m. until time of service at the Stroudsburg United Methodist Church.
