William F. Heckman

William F. Heckman, 77, of Stroudsburg, died on Thursday at Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg. He was the husband of Lorraine (Heller) Heckman, at home.
Born in Stroudsburg, he was the son of the late Walter and Sarah (Heller) Heckman.
He worked for Heckman Motor Car Company from 1940-1944 and 1946-1959; Courtland Motors from 1958 until his retirement in 1983; and was a tipstaff at the Monroe County Courthouse from 1985-1990.
He was a member of the Eagles, Stroudsburg; Elks, East Stroudsburg,; J. Simpson Africa Lodge #628, East Stroudsburg; American Legion, East Stroudsburg; and the Pocono Chapter of the Society for the Preservation of Barbershop Quartets. He was also a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Stroudsburg.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a niece, Cynthia Williams of East Stroudsburg; and two nephews, Dr. Alden Oyer of Santa Fe, N.M., and Jeffery Gage of Gainesville, Fla.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, January 5, 1999, at 11 a.m. from St. John's Lutheran Church, 9 North Ninth Street, Stroudsburg, with the Rev. Gail Kees officiating. Burial will be in the Stroudsburg Cemetery.
There will be a viewing on Monday, January 4, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home and on Tuesday, January 5, from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.

Rita Noll
January 1, 1999
Rita Noll, 88, of Wind Gap, died Friday in the home of her daughter, Claire Del Greco in Effort. She was the wife of the late Joseph A. Noll.
Born in New York, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late John and Clara (Agostinocchio) Monteferrante.
She has been a cashier at the former Abraham and Strauss in Brooklyn, N.Y., for 25 years, retiring in 1975.
She was a member of the House on the Rock Ministries in Wind Gap.
She was a member of the West End senior citizens in Brodheadsville, and she had done volunteer work at the Holy Family Nursing Home in Brooklyn for 14 years.
In addition to her daughter, she is survived by a son, Richard Noll of Chicago, Ill.; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday from Kresge Funeral Home, Route 209, Brodheadsville, with the Rev. James C. Petrow officiating. A viewing will be held Monday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.

Frank "Lefty" DeFrank

Frank "Lefty" DeFrank, 82, of 131 Chestnut Street, Roseto, died Friday Jan. 1 at home.
He was last employed by the former Gladys Sportwear of Pen Argyl for over 10 years as a presser and prior to that had worked in various garment factories in the Slate Belt area for many years.
He was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Roseto.
He was a Charter Member of the Roseto Coronet Band and the Roseto Drum and Bugle Corp where he played the drums.
He was a World War II Army veteran.
He was an avid gardener.
He was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union, The Martocci-Capobianco American Legion Post 750 of Roseto and the Columbia Fire Co.
He is survived by his wife, Lucy Pagano DeFrank, with who he celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary last May. In addition to his wife he is survived by a son, Dr. Frank N. DeFrank of Cresco, one sister, Antonette Petrei of Bangor, one brother, Michael of Easton, a step-son, Arthur L. DeThomas of Saxonburg and two grandchildren.
A sister, Theresa Van Zandt, and a brother, Nicholas, died earlier.
Funeral services will be Monday, 10:30 a.m. from the Fiore Funeral Home, Third and Market streets, Bangor, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Third and Garibaldi aves, Roseto. Call on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Monday from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Entombment will be in the Queen of Heaven Mausoleum, Roseto. Dorothy M. Beer, 67, of East Stroudsburg, died Monday, December 28, 1998 at home. She was the wife of the late Roy S. Beer who died in 1977.
Born on May 28, 1931, she had lived in the area since 1972 and had worked as a secretary for Bell Telephone. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and the American Legion Auxiliary and the Aarp.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 4, at 3:30 p.m. in the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main Street, Stroudsburg, with Father Thomas McLaughlin officiating. Burial will be in the Oceanview Cemetery, Staten island, New York.
There will be a viewing on Monday from 3 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Franes Annunziata, 91, of Effort, and formerly of Gilbert, died Friday in the Brookmont Health Care Center, Effort.
She was the wife of the late Frank C. Annunziata, who died in 1994.
She was born in New York City on June 16, 1907. She was the daughter of the late Ferndinand Contursi and Camelia Rinaldi.
She was a member of the Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Gilbert.
She was a housewife.
She is survived by nephews Ferdinand Perry of California, Frank Contursi of New York, Joseph Contursi of New Jersey, Ralph Contursi of New Jersey, Fred Contursi of Long Island; and nieces, Theresa Benasky of East Greenbush, N.Y., Millie Sabitino of Long Island, Joan Elliot of New Jersey.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 noon on Monday from Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Gilbert with the Rev. William McCawley as celebrant. Burial will be in Buena Vista Cemetery, Brodheadsville. A viewing will be held on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. from the Kresge Funeral Home, Route 209, Brodheadsville.

Albert "Butch" Gleckler

Albert "Butch" Gleckler, of Mt. Bethel, Pa, died Friday, January 1, 1999 in the New Jersey Veterans Medical Center, Lyons, New Jersey, after a long illness.
Born January 21, 1927 to the late Edward and Lulu Fichter Gleckler in Dover, New Jersey, he lived in Rockaway Boro, New Jersey for the better part of his life before moving to Blairstown, New Jersey in 1978. The past ten years he has lived in Mt. Bethel.
Mr. Gleckler spent 36 years with the Rockaway Post Office, 26 years as the Postmaster, retiring in 1984. As a graduate of Rockaway High School, class of 1945, he played football and made all-state and all-county in Morris County in 1944.
As an Army veteran, Mr. Gleckler served during World War II with the 88th Infantry Division. He was a member of American Legion Post 17 Rockaway, New Jersey; Blairstown, New Jersey V.F.W. Post; and DAV. He was a member of the New Jersey School and College Officials Association for soccer and baseball. He was the founder and coach of the Rockaway Rams midget football team from 1959 to 1967.
Survivors include his wife, the former Irene Morris Gleckler; two sons , Edward Paul Gleckler of Mt. Bethel and Albert G. Gleckler of W. Hollywood, California; three daughters , Sharon Bannon of Scottsdale, Arizona, Jeanne Leahy and Theresa Peck, both of Blairstown; one brother, E. Paul Gleckler of Randolph, New Jersey; one sister, Alice Bisson of Roxbury, New Jersey; and ten grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held under the direction of the Newbaker Funeral Home, Route 94, Blairstown, New Jersey.

Roger J. "Speedy" Williamson

Roger J. "Speedy" Williamson, 57, of Morrisville, Pa., died Dec. 31, 1998 at his home. Born in Pottstown, Pa., Mr. Williamson was a 9-month resident of Morrisville and a former 26-year resident of Levittown, Pa.
Mr. Williamson was an Army veteran from Viet Nam and a 34-year employee of Rohm & Haas working as a chemical operator. Mr. Williamson also served on the Rhom & Haas Fire Department and the HAZMT Team.
He was also a member of the Fallsington VFW and the Woodside Presbyterian Church. Roger loved the Pocono's and NASCAR racing.
Mr. Williamson is the son of the late William & Merle Gongloff Williamson and he is survived by his wife, Judy Eifert Williamson, his children and their spouse; Lisa Williamson of Levittown, John Williamson and his fiancee Julie Levittown, Lory and Thomas Klotz of Hammonton, N.J., and LeeAnn Williamson at home.
He is also survived by two sisters ; Sandra Williamson of Florida and Debra Althouse of Newfoundland, Pa., two grandchildren; Erica Williamson and Ashley Klotz.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, January 4, at the Woodside Presbyterian Church, Edgewood Road, Woodside, Pa.
Internment will be in Newtown Cemetery, Newtown. Relatives and friends may call at the Swartz/Givnish Funeral Home Monday from 6:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. and Tuesday at the church from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m.

Joan A. McAndrews, 58, Archbald died in the Hospice Unit, Mercy Hospital after a lengthy, courageous and lifetime inspiring battle with multiple sclerosis. Her husband, Jack, is the director of personnel at Tobyhanna Army Depot. The couple was married 36 years on Nov. 10.
Joan was a lifelong resident of Archbald and a graduate of Archbald High School. She was the daughter of Agnes (Durkin) Dougher and the late Clair "Mike" Dougher.
Prior to becoming a full-time housewife, she was employed by the First National Bank of Carbondale and was the executive secretary to the superintendent of Archbald High School.
Joan is survived by two daughters : Susan Falcone, Gaithersburg, Md., and Kathleen McAndrews, of King of Prussia. Other survivors include a son-in-law, Dr. Angelo Falcone and a granddaughter, Shannon Falcone, who made her grandmother's toughest days a little more pleasant. Three sisters also survive: Mary Hunter, Waymart; Ann Zdunski, Jermyn, and Kathleen Pacanowski, Carbondale. Msgr. Donald McAndrews, pastor of St. Aloysius parish in Wilkes-Barre, is a brother-in-law. Joan is also survived by several nieces and nephews who looked to Joan as their friend, mentor and counselor. A role model as a wife and mother , she will be remembered forever.
The funeral will be from the Harrison Funeral Home, Main Street, Archbald with Mass in St. Thomas Aquinas church with Msgr. Donald McAndrews officiating at Jan. 5, 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery. Friends may visit the funeral home Monday between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. and from 6 p.m. and 9 p.m.

Frank Thomas Vetter, 64, a resident of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Veterans Center, Scranton, died Sunday morning Jan. 3, 1999 at the center.
Frank was born in Hackensack, N. J., son of Marion (Pendergast) Vetter of IHS at Julia Ribaudo, Lake Ariel and the late Joseph J. Vetter.
Frank spent his life in Riveredge, N. J. before moving to the Pocono Mountains in 1980.
He was a self-employed carpentar working with his brother Allan for many years.
Frank served with the U.S. Army at Fort Bragg, N. C.
Frank was active in scouting and served as Assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 101, N. J. of the Passaic Valley Council.
In addition to his mother , he is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Allan and Phyllis Vetter, LaAnna, and nieces and nephews.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family with interment in Pine Grove Cemetery, South Sterling.
