Joseph George Foster

Joseph George Foster, 62, of Neola, Jackson Township, formerly of Sparta, N.J., died Tuesday, December 8, 1998 at his home in Neola.
Born in Paterson, N.J., he lived most of his life in Sparta, N.J. He moved to Neola in 1995 after living in McAfee, N.J., for 15 years.
Mr. Foster was a graduate of Newton High School, Newton, N.J. He was the former owner of the Boro Pantry Luncheonette in Ogdensburg, N.J., in the 1970's and also served as an Ogdensburg Councilman. After selling the luncheonette, he was employed for fifteen years as the supervisor of food service for the Sussex County Jail in Newton, N.J. He retired in 1990.
Mr. Foster was also a member of the Irish American Association and the Emerald Society.
The son of the late Joseph and Anna (Acker) Foster, he was also predeceased by a sister, Elizabeth Dalrymple.
He is survived by a brother, James, of Lehighton; two sisters , Anna Marie Kemnitzer of Newton, N.J., and Catherine Van Why of Snydersville; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Saturday, Dec. 12 at 10 a.m. at the Goble Funeral Home, 22 Main Street, Sparta, N.J. Visitation will be on Friday, Dec. 11 from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Saturday, Dec. 12 from 9 to 10 a.m.

Arnold Gordon

Arnold Gordon, 59, of East Stroudsburg, died Tuesday in the Lehigh Valley Hospice Unit of the Lehigh Valley Medical Center in Allentown. He was the husband of Margaret (Smallman) Gordon at home.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of the late Jack and Sarah Gordon. He lived in the East Stroudsburg area for the past 2 ½ years and prior to that resided in Mountainhome for 20 years.
He was employed in the shipping and receiving department of Tobyhanna Army Depot and later at the Picatinny Arsenol for 20 years. He was a member of St. Matthews Roman Catholic Church of East Stroudsburg.
In addition to his wife he is survived by a daughter, Laurie Gordon of East Stroudsburg; three sons : Charles Gordon, John Gordon and James Gordon; a step-daughter, Linda Simon of East Stroudsburg; three step-sons : Joseph Kreckman of Phoenix, Ariz.; David Kreckman of Mountainhome; and Daniel Kreckman of Cresco; and several grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Dec. 12 at 10 a.m. from St. Matthew's Roman Catholic Church in East Stroudsburg, with the Rev. Father Thomas J. Sokolowski as celebrant. Burial will be in the Prospect Cemetery in East Stroudsburg. There will be no visitation.

Joseph T. Gresko

Joseph T. Gresko, 72, of Canadensis, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 8 at his home.
Born in Trenton, N.J., he was the son of the late John and Anna (Zarneck) Gresko.
Before his retirement, Mr. Gresko was employed as a foreman by Rob Roy Industries, Morrisville. After he retired, he worked as a caretaker for Father Mike at Carpathian Village in Canadensis. He was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman.
He was a Navy veteran, serving on the USS Shoshone in the South Pacific during World War II.
He is survived by two sisters , Lorraine Frantz of Levittown and Ruthann Carroll of Yardley; three nephews: Thomas and Jeffrey Carroll and Herman Frantz Jr., all of Yardley; a niece, Corliss Hughs of Levittown; and many other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers : John Gresko Jr. of Trenton, N.J.; Richard Gresko and Frank Gresko, both of Levittown; and three sisters : Margaret Forbes of Texas ; Elizabeth Horan and Helen Hanuschick, both of Bordentown, N.J.
Father Alfred Vito will celebrate a Funeral Mass on Saturday, December 12 at 11 a.m. at St. Bernadette's Church in Canadensis. There will be a viewing on Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Bolock Funeral Home, Corner of Routes 940 and 390 in Mount Pocono.
The family would prefer Mass cards in lieu of flowers.

Mary Ruehlman Transue, 83, formerly of Stroudsburg, died on Sunday at Brookmont Health Care Center in Effort. She was the wife of the late Norman Transue, who died in 1988.
Born in Pocono Township, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Sabrina (Sliber) Ruehlman.
She is survived by two step- daughters , Gladys Treible of Stroudsburg and Betty MacKay of Henryville; two step-sons , Norman Transue of East Stroudsburg and Everitt Transue of Stroudsburg; 16 step-grandchildren; and several step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 10, 1998 at 12 p.m. from the Thomas Funeral Home, with the Rev. George S. Rigby officiating. Burial will be in the Prospect Cemetery, East Stroudsburg.
There will be a viewing on Thursday from 11 to 12 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial donations should be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Doreen M. Henneborn, 38, of East Stroudsburg, died Wednesday, December 9, at her home. She was the wife of Charles (Chuck) A. Henneborn at home.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Elvira (Capone) Soluri. She lived in the East Stroudsburg area for the past 6 months and prior to that lived in the Huntington Station, Long Island area. She was of the catholic faith.
In addition to her husband she is survived by a son, Charles A. Henneborn IV at home; a sister, Andrea Silberberg of Brentwood, L.I.; and several aunts and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 12 at 1 p.m. at the Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home, with the Rev. Thomas Richards officiating. Burial will be in the Sandhill Cemetery, Bushkill.
Visitation will be on Saturday, Dec. 12 from 11 a.m. until the time of the services at the funeral home.

Joanne M. Rodgers, 63, of Stroudsburg, died Monday at her home.
Born on October 16, 1935 in St. John's Newfoundland, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Phillip and Mary (Dooley) Oliver and had lived in Stroudsburg for the past 41 years. She had worked at the East Stroudsburg University in housekeeping for 16 years.
She was a member of the East Stroudsburg University Federal Credit Union and a former member of St. Luke's Roman Catholic Church, Stroudsburg.
She is survived by a daughter, Cynthia Elizabeth, wife of Daniel Cook of Saylorsburg; a son, Randy Carl, husband of Mary Rodgers of Saylorsburg; four grandchildren: Nicholas Rodgers, Colin Cook, Chelsea Cook, and Courtney Cook; a brother, Phillip Oliver, Jr. of Montreal, Canada; three sisters , Joan Costanstine and Christina Reynolds, both of St. John's, Newfoundland and Louise Henault of Dover, Del.; and several nieces and nephews.
Prayer services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday from the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main Street, Stroudsburg, with the Rev. Carmen Perry officiating. Burial will follow in Stroudsburg Cemetery.
There will be a viewing on Friday morning from 9 a.m. until the time of service.

William H. "Bill" Kessler, 76, of Wind Gap, died Tuesday, December 8, 1998 in Muhlenberg Hospital Center, Bethlehem. He was in ill health the past year.
He and his wife the former Gladys VanBuskirk were married 52 years this month.
He was employed as an industrial foreman for Supradur in Wind Gap, retiring in 1988, after 39 years of service.
Born February 6, 1922 in Edelmans, Pa., he was a son of the late Richard and Jennie (Cope) Kessler.
He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Plainfield Township and the American Legion in Roseto. He was an avid hunter.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters : Dian, wife of Larry Phillips of Troy; Kathleen at home; and Annette, wife of Domenic Laurenzi of Cranberry Township; and three grandchildren. He is predeceased by four sisters : Queenie Alberts; Anna Hahn; Laura Getz; and Ruth Getz; and four brothers : Richard, Clark, Aaron and John.
Services will be held Saturday, Dec. 12 at 11 a.m. at the Schmidt Home, Inc., 202 West Street, Wind Gap. Call Friday, Dec. 11 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial in Wind Gap Cemetery.

Fannie Capozzolo, 83, of Fox Gap Road, Bangor, died Thursday, December 10, 1998, at Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg.
Born February 15, 1915, in Roseto, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Concetta DeStefano Carcione.
She was the wife of the late Joseph L. Capozzolo, who died in 1965.
She was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Roseto.
She is survived by four daughters : Nancy Fisher of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; Connie Lancaster and Mary Loikits of Warminster; and Cathy Donovan of Pen Argyl; two sons , Louis and Joseph M. of Bangor; three sisters , Caroline Trigiani of Pen Argyl; Millie Rizzo of Toms River, N.J.; and Mary Valente of the Bronx, N.Y.; a brother, Anthony Carcione of Roseto; and eleven grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Larry.
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 14, 1998 at 9:15 a.m. at the Guerro and Ruggiero Funeral Home, 126 E. Pennsylvania Avenue, Pen Argyl, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial Celebrated at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Roseto. Interment will be in the New Catholic Cemetery, Roseto. There will be calling hours Sunday at the funeral home from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

George Mackey

George Mackey, 87, of Stroudsburg, died Wednesday evening in Pleasant Valley Manor, Hamilton Township. He was the husband of Blanche (Roman) Mackey, at home.
Born on September 13, 1911 in Far Rockaway, N.Y., he was the son of the late George and Clara (Rowland) Mackey and had lived in the area since 1936. He had worked for A.B. Wyckoff Department Store in Stroudsburg for forty years, retiring as service manager.
A graduate of Newton military School in Newton, N.J., he was a member of the Stroudsburg United Methodist Church; past president of the Board of Trustees and Conductor of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #1106, Stroudsburg; a member of the Barger Lodge #325 F&AM, Stroudsburg; a member of the Chemical Fire Company #1 of the Stroudsburg Fire Department; and a member of the Phoenix Fireman's Relief Association.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Bruce Mackey of San Francisco, Calif., a daughter, Lynn O'Dell of Solomon Islands, Md.; and two grandchildren, Erik George O'Dell of Solomon Islands, Md., and Alethea O'Dell of Oakland, Calif.
The Barger Lodge #325 F&AM will conduct Masonic services on Saturday evening at 8 p.m. in the William H. Clark Funeral Home, which will be followed by funeral services with the Rev. George S. Rigby Jr., and the Rev. Thomas Anderman officiating. Cremation will take place following the services at the H.G. Smith Crematory, Stroudsburg.
There will be a viewing on Saturday from 7 p.m. until the time of the services.
