DAVID W. MACK JR.
David W. Mack Jr., 56, of Greensburg, died Friday, March 24, 2000, in the Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. He was born Oct. 28, 1943, in Greensburg, the son of Caroline Tyson Mack of Greensburg and the late David W. Mack. He formerly was employed by the Tribune-Review Publishing Co., where his Father , David W. Mack, was the publisher. He currently was a financial investor. David was a graduate of the Valley School in Ligonier and attended St. James School. He was a graduate of Greensburg Salem High School and a graduate of St. Vincent College. He was very active in the Arthritis Foundation and was currently serving as vice chairman of the advisory board, for which he served as chairman in 1993 and 1994. He was a member of the Westmoreland Museum of American Art, Westmoreland Society of the Westmoreland Museum, The Westmoreland Trust, Genesis Inc. of Pittsburgh and the Greensburg Country Club. David was an avid photographer who donated his time and talent to the Valley School, Arthritis Foundation and The Westmoreland Trust. In addition to his mother , he is survived by his wife of 30 years, Rose D'Onofrio Mack; a son, Jordan David Mack, who is attending Villanova University in Philadelphia; a daughter, Christina Juliet Mack, who is attending Shady Side Academy in Pittsburgh; a sister, Caroline Huff Mack of Northampton, Mass.; a sister-in-law, Susan F. D'Onofrio of Jeannette; and numerous nieces and nephews. David's relatives and friends were received at the CLEMENT L. PANTALONE FUNERAL HOME, 409 W. EDWARD J. MIKA
Edward J. "Duke" Mika, 66, of Export, died Saturday, March 25, 2000. He was born July 6, 1933, in Export, a son of the late Thomas C. and Katherine M. Bush Mika. Mr. Mika was retired from the Bushy Run Research Center. He was a member of St. Mary's Church in Export, the L.O.O.M. #234, Export, and the Bushy Run American Legion Post 260. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Devan Mika; three brothers , Joseph, Stanley "Putsin" and Alex Mika; and a sister, Frances Persin. Duke is survived by two sons , Edward W. and wife, Melissa, of Wadsworth, Ohio, and Kenneth and wife, Beth, of Medina, Ohio; two brothers , Frank "Turk" and wife, Betty, of Slickville and Thomas and wife, Diane, of Mt. Jewett, Pa.; three sisters , Helen Lucas, Sally Hohman and Mrs. Murphy (Agnes) Murray, all of Export; two sisters -in-law, Elsie Mika and Marlene Mahinske, both of Export; and dear friend Linda Farrin. Also survived by six grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Friends were received at the EDWIN N. RALPH A. STAUFFER
Ralph A. Stauffer, 87, of North Huntingdon, died Saturday, March 25, 2000, in Briarcliff Pavilion, North Huntingdon. He was born Aug. 14, 1912, in McKeesport, a son of the late Charles H. and Grace Finlayson Stauffer. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by National Tube Works as a Motor Inspector/Electrician. He was a member of the West Hempfield Presbyterian Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters , Jean Watts and Ruth Manns. He is survived by his wife, Katherine Schoeller Stauffer; his son, Ralph Jr. and wife, Linda, of Clinton; two daughters , Mrs. John (Noreen) Coyne of Sewickley and Mrs. Max (Mira) Core of Rodgersville; a brother, Charles Stauffer of Hemet, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the SHIRLEY-KUKICH FUNERAL HOME INC., Clay Pike, Circleville, North Huntingdon, Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor John Simpson officiating, followed by interment in Penn-Lincoln Memorial Park, North Huntingdon.
JOSEPHINE POLYFKA TURNSHEK
Josephine Polyfka Turnshek, 83, of North Huntingdon, died Saturday, March 25, 2000, in the Forbes Hospice, Pittsburgh. She was born Jan. 17, 1917, in Wilmerding, a daughter of the late Joseph and Kunygunda Krawiec Polyfka. Prior to her marriage, she was employed as a secretary by Westinghouse Air Brake of Wilmerding for 18 years. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church of Irwin and its Christian Mothers and the Golden Echoes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Turnshek, in 1993; and a brother, Stanley Polyfka. Surviving are a son, David and his wife, Diane Turnshek, of Irwin; three daughters , Sandra and her husband, Walter Pullens, of West Palm Beach, Fla., Carole Turnshek of West Mifflin and Janis McDonald of Herminie; five grandchildren, James, Steven, Alex and Matthew Turnshek and Bill McDonald; two brothers , Edmund and his wife, Martha Polyfka, of Monroeville and Frank Polyfka of Wilmerding; two sisters , Helen and her husband, Walter Slonska, of East McKeesport and Sophie Maschok of Monroeville; and several nieces and nephews. MARY AUJAY BEARDSLEY
Mary Aujay Beardsley, 81, of Rillton, died Friday, March 24, 2000, at the Baldock Heath Care Centre, North Huntingdon. She was born Jan. 11, 1919, in Marianna, Pa., a daughter of the late Michael and Antoinette (Kisten) Aujay. Mary was a homemaker and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Rillton VFW Post #8518 and Herminie Senior Citizen Center. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her first husband, Ephraim Beardsley; and her second husband, Nick Rullo; also two brothers , John and Fred Aujay; a sister, Nellie Primozich; and a granddaughter, April Mears. Mary is survived by three daughters , Mrs. Carolyn Mears and her husband, Blaine, of both New Castle and Fort Myers, Fla., Mrs. Janet Ricci and her husband, Robert, of Rillton and Mrs. Linda Boltin and her husband, Gerald, of Chicago, Ill.; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, William "Bill" Aujay of Rillton; three sisters , Mrs. Helen Sikora, Mrs. Violet Fusco and her husband, Joe, and Mrs. Dorothy Cheselske and her husband, Ted, all of Rillton; and several nieces and nephews. RAYMOND EARL BODEN
Raymond Earl Boden, 79, formerly of East Pittsburgh, on Monday, March 27, 2000. Born in Turtle Creek. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Philippines. He retired from Westinghouse Airbrake, East Pittsburgh, in 1982, with 42 years of service. Husband of the late Alice (Joyce) Boden. Father of Joyce and her husband, Dennis Lindenberg, of Seneca, Pa., Judith and her husband, Gene Colfer, of Greensburg, Raymond T. Boden of Somerset, Joann K. Boden of Shadyside (with whom he resided), and the late William H. Boden. Brother of Thelma Long of New Mexico. Also survived by seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters . No public visitation. Funeral service private. SAVINA BRIGHENTI CANTONI
Savina Brighenti Cantoni, 99, of North Huntingdon, died Monday, March 27, 2000, at her home. She was born Aug. 23, 1900, in Monessen, a daughter of the late Marshall and Gentila Chinelli Brighenti. Prior to retirement, she was employed as a bookkeeper for Brighenti Trucking of Monessen. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church of Irwin, and a former member of it's Catholic daughters of America, and was a member of the Cerial Womens Club. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Americus "Merk" Cantoni, owner of Irwin-Herminie Bus Lines; her stepmother, Adalgesia Brighenti; two brothers , Angelo and Mario Brighenti; and a sister, Florence Frazier. Surviving are two nieces, Marsha Brighenti Greco of Belle Vernon and Sandy Frazier Jackson of Tuckerton, N.J. Friends will be received at the JOSEPH F. OTT FUNERAL HOME INC., Fifth and Oak streets, Irwin, Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Church. Martha M. Clark, 54, of Ligonier, died Monday, March 27, 2000, in Latrobe Area Hospital. She was born Sept. 26, 1945, in Fairfield Township, a daughter of Freda H. Gates Stout of Ligonier and the late Lloyd Shanner. In addition to her mother , she is survived by a daughter, Beth Ann Clark of Latrobe; two sons , Edgar E. Clark of Ligonier and Mathew T. (and fiancee, Stacy) Clark of Latrobe; two grandchildren, Zacharia and Haley Clark; four sisters , Alice Faye Findley and Helen Stout, both of Ligonier, Judy ®MDBO¯®MDNM¯Hall and Leona Tinkey, both of Stahlstown; two brothers , Roy Shanner ®MDBO¯®MDNM¯of Ligonier and Kevin Stout of Derry; and nieces and nephews. In addition to her Father , she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Eugene Stout; and a sister, Yvonne Shanner. Martha surrounded herself with her most precious possessions, her children, grandchildren, family, and friends. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the J. WALTER W. COLDREN
Walter W. Coldren, 78, of Delmont, died Sunday, March 26, 2000, in UPMC Shadyside, Pittsburgh. He was born June 11, 1921, in Rockland Township, a son of the late Floyd E. and Gertrude Richey Barker Coldren. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Murrysville. He was a general sales manager at Beckwith Machinery in Murrysville, serving 44 years before retiring in 1981. He served his country during World War II in the South Pacific as a Marine corporal. He was awarded two Purple Hearts and the Silver Star during these conflicts. He was a member of the Delmont VFW Post 481, Syria Temple, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, F&AM of Bethesda, Ohio, a lifetime member, and the B.P.O.E., Clearfield, Pa. He was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Coldren; and a sister, Annabel Ritts. He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Mary Jane Newton Coldren; a daughter, Polly Coldren Negich and husband, John A. Negich, of Butler, and grandson, J. Brandon Negich; a son, Roger W. Coldren, Dc., of Murrysville, his wife, Robin Vrudney Coldren, grandson, R. Shawn Coldren, and two granddaughters, Kelly and Brooke Coldren; a daughter, Lorie Coldren Bollibon of Murrysville, her husband, James C. John J. Filkovski Sr., 55, of Claridge, died Sunday, March 26, 2000, in his home. He was born Sept. 18, 1944, in Westmoreland City, a son of the late Frank and Mary Bronic Filkovski. He was employed as a senior electrical engineer for A.B.B. in Greensburg. He was a member of St. Boniface Church in Penn, the American Legion in Irwin and the Slovenian Home in Claridge. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Filkovski. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Sarah J. Mallik Filkovski; three sons , John J. Filkovski Jr. of Penn, Jeffery S. Filkovski of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Gregory T. She was born March 18, 1921, in Wilmerding, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Chrzasteck. She was a member of Circleville United Methodist Church, North Huntingdon. She is survived by her husband, George Harvey; six sons , Paul A. Harvey of North Huntingdon, James B. Harvey of Penn Township, John C. Harvey of Manor, Mark D. Harvey of Herminie, Earl E. Harvey of Irwin, and Ray F. Harvey of North Huntingdon; and nine grandchildren. Eliza "Pearl" Hughes, 76, of Rowes Run, died peacefully Sunday, March 26, 2000, in UPMC Shadyside Hospital. Daughter of the late Harry and Myrtle Reynolds Fuller. Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Vanderbilt. She was predeceased by her first husband, Michael Strauch; her second husband, Thomas Hughes; sisters , Anna Lou Laktash, Mae Ward, and Reba Shazer; and brothers , Dean, Eugene, and Ewing Fuller. She is survived by two sons , Michael J. Strauch of Pittsburgh and Pat Lee Strauch of Murrysville; two grandchildren, Michael Jr. and Nicholas Strauch; a sister, Molly Koslosky of Ellsworth; and a brother, Emerson Fuller of Uniontown. Rose H. Jordan, 84, of Mt. Pleasant, died Monday, March 27, 2000, at the Harmon House Convalescent Center, Mt. Pleasant. She was born June 13, 1915, in Connellsville, a daughter of the late Paul and Kathryn Fabio Cotterino. Mrs. Jordan was a member of St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church, Mt. Pleasant, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Society of St. Pius X Parish, and the Assunta Club Ladies Lodge of Mt. Pleasant. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, John A. Jordan; a daughter, Kathryn Janesko and husband, Raymond, of Mt. Pleasant; a son, Victor J. Jordan of Mt. Pleasant; a granddaughter, Leigh Ann Smithberger and husband, David, of Scottdale; a great-granddaughter, Jordan Moran Smithberger of Scottdale; a granddaughter-in-law, Lorraine Marie Janesko of Mt. Pleasant; brother and sisters , Anthony Cotterino of Timonium, Md., Caroline Pellish, Elizabeth Basinger and husband, Frank, and Mary Ann Martin and husband, Irv, all of Connellsville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Cotterino; a sister, Mary Margaret Beal; and a grandson, Raymond Douglas Janesko, in 1999.
